FCE HD Settings Were Wrong-Can I Save Anamorphic Movie?

I just edited my first movie on FCE HD 3.5. On my initial setup, I neglected to use DV-NTSC Anamorphic (just DV-NTSC). When I burned my DVD I got a 'windowboxed' 16:9 aspect ratio (black bars all around). I just reset the setup. Am I stuck with the non-anamorphic movie or can I export it again, this time as anamorphic? I did film in anamorphic and the viewer seems to show a 16:9 picture, and I would hate to recapture and edit again. Any good news?
Thanks,
Ted

Certainly you can drop in a QT movie but dropping in the original sequence will work as well, just drag it in from the Browser (grab the original Sequence icon created when you first started the project)
Please note: Something has to be in the new sequence first; in other words, overlay a Slug or some Bars at the head of the new sequence's Timeline then drop the new sequence in after that. When you export, set your In point after the Slug/Bars and at the head of your original sequence

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • Can't save two movies joined together?

    Hello,
Today I was posting a question on the Apple forums and went into Edit and copy since I wanted to ask the same question on another forum and then went and pasted it in on a forum board.
Now everytime I go into iMovie 08 and try and join the two movies together I get an error saying I can't save the movie as a public atom was found in there. So I open movie two and go to Edit Select All, then Edit Copy, then I open first movie and hit Edit Paste and when I do this I see my question I had asked about on the forum show up on the top of the Quicktime movie box. I've tried shutting down and restarting but can't save my movie.
    Any ideas?
    S.

    Winston Churchill,
Thanks, to my knowledge I just had Firefox open and was had hit copy and paste and then I could join the two movies together in Quicktime Pro. It drove me nuts and still want to know why it didn't work. I ended up converting them both to .avi format and then was able to join them. Will try again tomorrow to see if it will work the other way.

  • "Import SIM Contacts" under settings-so how can you save to SIM card?

Update took several hours and afterwards, contacts as well as internet bookmarks and map bookmarks are gone. However, the pictures under the camera icon remain. How is that? Are they on the SIM card? How come contacts didn't save to the SIM card? How can you save to the SIM card through itunes or the phone?
    Bueller?...Bueller?...Bueller?

Apps you can re-download for free. SMS's are part of the iPhone backup, they would have to copy that folder to a thumb drive along with your photos, calendar & contact database. Your iPhone backup is located here:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Regarding your contacts & calendar, you'd have to first export them to the thumb drive, then copy to the proper location on the computer you intend to use. Same with your iphone backup & pics.

  • Can I Save My Movie in a Format that iDVD Doesn't Need to Re-Compress

I am looking to output 3 videos from AfterEffects (or some other app) and I want to save them in a format that iDVD won't compress or convert. In other words, I am hoping I can choose a format that allows iDVD to pretty much just grab my three videos and bundle them all up into single DVD (letting iDVD create menus so the individual videos can be selected through my DVD player). I just don't want iDVD to have to do any transcoding which could degrade the quality.
Or, should I save my movies with absolutely no compression (as in a "None" setting) and let iDVD have its way with them? I just don't want to run my video through 2 codecs.
I am in the U.S. so I need NTSC format. The disc will be standard def, no need for HD or anamorphic widescreen.
I am not finding the answer I need on Google or here, but I am sure it exists out there somewhere! Mostly, I have only found outdated FAQs and iDVDs very simplistic directions. Thank you for your time.

One can import mpeg 2 content into the pro apps / DVDSP /FCS 2 usually without any issues.
However, this is Not the case with iDvd'08.
To quote Sascha Segan of PC magazine:
Pros: Creates beautiful DVDs. Many themes and button styles.
Cons: No support for high-def content; no support for MPEG2 or DivX files.
Bottom Line: iDVD is an effortlessly easy, yet surprisingly, flexible way to create good-looking, standard-def video and photo DVDs.

  • Can't save internet .mov files

I just recently upgraded to Quicktime Pro for Windows specifically so I could save several .mov files posted on a website as part of a proposal I have to give. Unfortunately, I've tried saving the movies as both source and as Quicktime Movie, and neither actually saves. I have the option to save when I click the down arrow after the movies have loaded, and my PC acts as though it's saving the files when I attempt to save, but then nothing actually shows up in the file destination I've selected. I've tried several times and have nothing to show for it - anyone have any ideas?

Sorry I can't help, I have the same problem. I installed Quicktime Pro, registered, and everything looked ok. Until I tried to save, save as, or export. I can't create any output at all. I edited a .mov file then tried to do a "save as". It appeared to go ok, but no file was created. When I try to do an export, I do get an error message "Error -43: a file could not be found". It never mentions WHICH file could not be found (I suspect the one I was trying to create)! I de-installed and re-installed with no luck. I thought Apple software was supposed to work?!

  • Can't save apple movie trailers

I just noticed with OS X 10.7.4 that you do not have the save feature for movie trailers that stream from the apple website. You can save them on iTunes, but if you try off the apple trailer page, you can't save it. You can download it but I've gone searching through my folders, used my search engine, even tried to look for a root folded that could be hidden.
So below I've added a screen shot of my situation. This is the movie trailer "Beautiful Creatures" that just got released today on Apple Trailers. I can't save the file through Quicktime.
I'm kind of going out of my mind a little trying to figure out why this isn't working. Anyone have any idea why OS X 10.7.4 doesn't have this option for Quicktime?

I'm kind of going out of my mind a little trying to figure out why this isn't working. Anyone have any idea why OS X 10.7.4 doesn't have this option for Quicktime?
The File Menu "Save As..." option has been merged with the "Export" option under Lion and Mountain Lion operating systems.
As you can see in the image above, the default "Format: QuickTime movie" pop-up option allows the user to "Save a movie file that contains media in the same format as the original movie." Since this data is written to an MOV file container, this action is functionally equivalent to the old QT 7 Pro "Save As..." File Menu option.

  • Aspect Ratio settings were wrong... Help

Okay so I am doing a project for a class using FCP. I set my project settings to the requirements we were given. However somehow down the line the settings got changed and I have my edit all done. However when I go to change it back to the proper settings everything becomes stretched and zoomed in. Is there anyways to fix this so I do not have to redo my whole project?
These are the required Project Settings:
    NTSC DV Anamorphic 16:9
However these are the settings that it was edited in:
    HD (1440x1080) (16:9)
Please tell me there is a way to fix this without having to redo my project.

    dont worry.....
fisrt of all duplicate your sequence. use the copy to test out what Im telling you so you dont damage your original.
Right click your sequence in the browser and go to setting...
Inside change your HD settings to NTSC with the right frame size, frame rate and pixel aspect (NTSC)
This should change your sequence into an NTSC one. and everything will look stretched.
Select all your material and hit ALT/APPLE/V and remove attributes box will appear
Tick the boxes for distort and basic motion.
This will remove all the resizing that has been placed on you clips and they should look better.
If they are still a bit out Select the first clip in your sequence and resize this using the motion tab - then copy APPLE/C the Motion and Distort attributes of that 1 clips and ALT/V paste them onto all the other clips in your timeline.
As long as they were all captured correctly everything should snap into place.

  • Can I save my movies?

    Hi there,
Recently my hard-drive died, but the person who replaced it managed to save 'most' of my files. They were all stored under 'previous' systems, and I have managed to open most of my files from there. However, I am having problems with my iMovie projects. They are there under iMovie projects, but when I click on them, iMovie opens but the projects aren't there. If I try and import them, they are blanked out.
Is there any way to get these projects back? Thanks for any help.

iMovie expects your iMovie Projects to be on your internal hard drive in the Movies.iMovie Projects folder.
It will expect the Events to be located at the same relative place they were located when the project was created. If they were on the internal drive, they should generally be located in the iMovie/Events folder. If they were on an external drive, they would generally be in the <volume name>iMovie Events folder.

  • HT1848 How can I save iTunes movies on an external HD?

I'm trying to transfer my iTunes movie library from my iPad2 to my external HD, because my PC's internal SSD doesn't have enough memory to hold all the movies.  Any ideas?

Easy to do. First, tell iTunes where to store the movies on your computer by going to iTunes/preferences. In that wiindow, click the advanced tab and under iTunes media folder loaction, browse to the external drive where you want the movies stored. You can create a folder or iTunes will make one for you called Itunes.
I have keep iTunes media folder checked as well as copy files to iTunes media folder checked. This will copy all purchase to the drive and organize movies and TV shows into their own folders by show and season #.
Then sync your iPad and in iTunes on your computer, click File/Transfer purchases and iTunes will do t he rest.
