FCP shuts down when exporting
I've been trying to export some 3-5 minute segments from FCP HD to quicktime files (self-contained). Every time I try to export the segments, it will go to about 15% and then the whole program completely shuts down "unexpectedly". I've tried it 20 times or so and I'm getting the same results.
My entire project is saved on an external HD (Maxtor 300gb) with the project file itself saved on my G4's HD. I don't know if that makes a difference. I've tried to export the QT files to both the external and my desktop...same results.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)
Well I just had a problem exporting a qt which gave me a general error message rather than shutting down. I landed up locating the problem area by trying to export the first half, then the second half and slowly narrowing down the area and then shifting the top video clip up a layer. This solved the problem probably by forcing a rerender.
I suspect the problem was a corrupt render so you might solve the problem by simply deleting all your renders and rerendering.

FCP shuts down when I open my project from external hardrive??
Hi,
Problem here. I am working on a large (yes, and important) project at work and it kept getting larger so I moved all my files for FCP and all my media to an external hardrive the IT guys gave me. I did this two days ago. Yesterday I got A LOT of work done on this project. Now, when I try to open up the project FCP shuts down 44% through "Reading Project" when I open my file.

AME Shuts Down when exporting H.264 Blu Ray
I have a current project that was shot in HDV and I am trying to export an H.264 Blu Ray file. This is a 4 Disk set and the other 3 files exported with no problems but for some reason I cannot get this last one (which happens to be Disk #3). I will start AME running as I am getting ready to leave my office. When I come back in the morning there is nothing open on my desktop, just the normal screen. Anyoen have any ideas??? Below are my export setting and computer info

That is it... It does not show that there was a problem or that it was completed.
I then went into the Errors Log and there was nothing about this particular project.
Do you think that maybe the PC is shutting down and restarting? Not sure how I would know that...
Dont get me started on the Pr not supported by XP 64 thing. Quite frustrating to me....

FCP shutting down when I bring jpegs into timeline....
Hi all you night owls.....
I am just about pulling my hair out right now. Have a project due in 8 hours; this project is a weekly project that I have been doing for the past 16 weeks. Same thing different jpegs and hdv footage.
When I drag the jpegs into the timeline (after importing them into thier own bin into the project), FCP just shuts down. I have tried dragging 50 down into the timeline at once, or 5.....there is always one or two jpegs that are red lined, and when I try and render them, it says "general error". But here is the kicker. It doesn't matter which one is at the beginning of the group, the first one always has a red line.
Any help would be appreciated. I have already tried the "guiness method".....minus the guiness. (yeah, I am 4 months pregnant) but man, one sounds good right now!!!! (you know, shut down the computer, go have a guiness or two, and come back to the computer).Trashing preferences and repairing permissions.
Close Final Cut Pro.
Go to: Users/your user name/Library/Preferences.
Drag, "com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist" to the trash.
Scroll down to the Final Cut Pro User Settings folder.
Drag, "Final Cut Pro 6 Preferences" to the trash.
Drag, "Final Cut Pro Obj Cache" to the trash
Drag, "Final Cut Pro POA Cache" to the trash.
Go to: Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
Select your system disk
Click on the Repair Permissions button
Wait for the permissions to be repaired
Restart your computer -

FCP shuts down when trying to import
I recently upgraded from standard definition to high def by purchasing a sony HDR-FX7 video camera.
i adjusted all my final cut pro presets in the audio/video preset menu in accordance with m owners manuel. however. now when i try to do log and capture. final cut pro gives me the colored wheel of death, and then shuts down. please help. as this is affecting my current jobs right now"To choose the HDV Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setup:
1 Choose Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup.
2 Choose the appropriate HDV Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setup from the "Setup For" pop-up menu.
3 Click OK.
Capturing HDV Video to the Apple Intermediate Codec:
Capturing HDV video is very similar to capturing DV video using the Capture Now feature. The main differences are:
The Log and Capture window is not used.
Capturing HDV video may not take place in real time because transcoding HDV frames into the Apple Intermediate Codec requires special processing steps.
To capture HDV footage to the Apple Intermediate Codec:
1 Click in the Browser to make it active, then choose File > New Bin.
2 Control-click the bin, then choose Set Logging Bin from the shortcut menu. Your captured clips will be placed in this bin.
3 Name the bin, then press Enter.
4 Choose File > Log and Capture (or press Command-8). A Capture dialog appears instead of the Log and Capture window.
5 In the Capture dialog, enter a name for the clip, then click Capture.
The capture preview window appears and the camcorder begins playing back video from its current position. The status area of the capture preview window displays the percentage of real time in which the video is being encoded from HDV to the Apple Intermediate Codec.
6 Press the Esc (Escape) key to stop capturing.
The video playback on the camcorder stops immediately. The capture preview window may lag behind, displaying where the video is in the encoding process. As these frames are processed, the status area of the capture preview window displays the percentage of frames left to process.
Note: Pressing the Esc key a second time stops the encoding process and cancels
the capture.
After the capture preview window closes, the captured clip appears in your Logging Bin."

FCP shuts down when importing hd 24p video
Hi I just got the Hv 20 and love it. I imported to final cut pro using regular dv and it worked great. But when I tried importing using HD, Final cut always quits unexpectedly when I click Log and Capture.
My settings are HDV 1080i60. I am new to this camera thing so all i know is 24p is the best quality the camera has and i know the 1080i60 setting is 30p. Does that have anythign to do with final cut quiting? Thank you for your help.
As I have been reading the forums and realized there was a difference in NTSC and PAL i looked and my camera is NTSC. So I hope that helps with the problem solving. Also I have been able to get it to capture in HD in random formats but all of them on final cut capture slower than the camera and an alert comes up on the screen saying it is like 33% behind the camera etc. I have the macbook pro with a 2.4ghz proc, the versino before the one with the trackpad. So the comp is only like 6 months old and shouldnt cause any processing problems.look for an express 34 to firewire 800 or esata adapter to get a second bus to run an external drive. a number of manufacturers make drives that have firewire 400, 800 and esata.

About a month ago I installed Mac Keeper to clean up files and it was a BIG mistake! I think it deleted the 32-bit files from the operating system.
Could that be causing this issue? But if so, why is it just now happening? -

Itunes shuts down when clicking anything
My iTunes shuts down when I click anything on the screen other than the music. If I click anything on the sidebar (Store, Playlists, Library, etc.) or the album artwork it shuts down. I have tried pulling all the iTunes preferences out of the library and restarting the computer. This does not fix the problem. This has been going on for a few months, but I have been downloading the newest versions of iTunes and it continues to happen.
Hey chaimoy,
It seems like you may be experiencing an unexpected quit from iTunes when importing a file into the iTunes library. I have an article for you that addresses this circumstance, and it can be found below:

My Satellite laptop (A305) shuts down when run on the AC charger/adapter
The problem is that my Toshiba _A300 series laptop (A305) shuts down when you try to run it on the AC charger/adapter_. You can boot it with the power cord plugged in and it will get to Windows Desktop and maybe a few minutes more at most before shutting off.
It will boot and _run from battery without problem_, but if you plug in the AC while it is up and running on battery the machine will normally click off instantly and reboot to the message "Windows was not shut down correctly."
The _AC adapter works fine_ reading a steady 19.19 to 19.20 volts with a voltmeter. It also _charges the battery fine when the computer is off_. I have two Toshiba brand batteries and they both work fine.
One interesting thing is that the _computer runs fine on AC when in safe mode_.
I _did a reformat/factory restore_ of Vista to assure it was not software and drivers, and still got the same problem before any external devices had been plugged in.
It has the latest BIOS and I tried resetting it to default values in case anything had gotten changed. It made no difference.
This is _not a heating issue_ because _while it is run on battery I can watch long videos_ without it shutting off. I ran compressed air through the vents just to make sure, but it makes no difference in behavior. Usually with an overheating shut-off, the computer cannot be started until it has cooled some, but these shutdowns are accompanied by an instant reboot.
I have seen on some threads that this type of problem one can work around by disabling one of the processors in Device Manager, but I don't think that is much of a lasting solution or good for the computer.
Has anyone seen this problem before and have you come with a full diagnosis of the problem and a real solution?I have Satellite A300 and until now everything works OK.
I would like to know what happen when you remove the battery and use notebook with power supply only. Does notebook shuts down again.
If not let OS run and put the battery.
Is the battery recognized properly? Does notebook switch off again?
To be honest I cannot imagine this issue has something with software or background processes. Recovery image you got with your notebook is designed for this certain notebook mode. Recovery image is tested and I dont think preinstalled OS has anything to do with this.
Full diagnosis?
And how to do this? You know very well that diagnosis can be done with diagnostic tools only and such tools have services only. I hope you will find answers but Im 99% sure there is nothing you can do about that. Maybe you should contact service, explain the situation and ask for help.

Export as a Photoshop file, write layers unavailable
