FDM Drill through capabilty from Hyperion Planning

Hi,
I have currently some questions regarding the Drill through capability from Hyperion planning.
I successfully loaded a multiperiod excel file into FDM with the interface with this property :
Account     Centre     Description     Legal Entity     BU Product     Currency     Version     Application     Customer     Supplier
A     C     D     UD1     UD2     UD3     UD4     UD5     UD6     Default Supplier     V     V
ROYALTIES          Default_Site     SOI - Prime - 4 - 3400/4000 Å -     COMPANY_INC     4.PRO.RD0003.PF     USD     Sales Initial     App_1     Customer1     Default Supplier     100     200
When i did the drill back I could see all the info except the description. It is true that description field is not present in Hyperion planning but I thougth I could see it in the drill back.
On top of that I have been to my FDMApplication directory to see the file that is used in the drill back (SAMPLE0748.dat) and open it with notepad. I can see all the information except the description column.
Does anyone know how I can keep in FDM all the informations I want from my first excel file ?
Thank you,
David

I understand what you explain to me and I agree.
Only one problem is that I don't think in my Hyperion Application I use the account description or Description 2 that would explain the fact I can not use it in the drill back.
So my next question on this topic is, how do I make sure that I can copy attributes values in FDM into Planning.
For your info I check on the workbench and "Account description" & "Description 2" are under my application "Attributes dimensions"
By the way I have an other question wich is not far from the last one.
Regarding the drill back if do an import like this :
CUST1     (Mapping)     GROUPCUST1      100
CUST2     (Mapping)     GROUPCUST1 200
Will I be able to see in the Drill back CUST1 & CUST2 ?
by the way do you agree with this discussion Dimensions/Fields Displayed on Drill through screen ? Because it is something I wanted to do in FDM...
Thanks again,

  • FDM Drill Through from HFR

    Greetings all -
I have not been able to find much documentation about the new FDM drill through feature from HFR. I'm looking for how it works, what is going on in the background, etc. I assume that it is mostly based on a SQL query back to FDM, but is there more to it than that?
I appreciate any information or documentation to be had.
    Thank you,
    Sarah

    Hello Sarah,
The drillthrough from HFR to FDM is seemless. The Hyperion Applications (HFM, Planning, Essbase) all store the information if it came from FDM in a unique way. This unique way is now an identifier so that drillback is available only for the valid cells. Other products that leverage that data (FR, Smartview, Retrieve) will then interpret that data as well.
The drillback actually launches a pre-built FDM WebPage, Logs you in with the credentials provided via the source, and then displays potential records.
    Thank you,

  • Pre-requisites for Drill-Down from Hyperion Planning to Oracle GL

I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 for maintaining budgets. I do comparison of actual vs budget in Hyperion. I export actual results from Oracle General Ledger (11.5.10) in flat file and upload to Hyperion planning using FDM. I maintain mapping in FDM for flat file and the Hyperion members.
Q1) Is it possible to drill down actual numbers from Hyperion planning to Oracle General Ledger via FDM?
Q2) If yes, what are prerequisites for using drill-down functionality?
Can anyone please answer and refer some link/material that may help me in setting this up?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks
But when i try to log in i m getting error bellow"
Failure of server APACHE bridge: No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF."
So do u have any other reference plz
    thanks

  • ODI and Loading to/Extracting from Hyperion Planning **?

    All,
first--I am not a Hyperion expert.
    Clients have 2 requirements:
#1. Loading data ( flat file format residing in Windows environment) ''to'' Hyperion Planning 9.3.1
#2. Extracting Data 'From' Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 to a flat file ( residing in Windows environment)
    Questions:
    #1 I have looked at materials at OBE > ( http://ias.us.oracle.com/portal/page?_pageid=33,1704614&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL)
I have been able to reverse engineer a Hyperion application in ODI. but apparently that's not all, and there is additional work to be done in Hyperion itself
namely---'preparing' dimensional members, before loading any data.
Let's say the input data is comprised of: Product_code, Account_num, Period, Amount
Can someone explain how the following recommended steps by Hyperion example can plays out to load this data?
    1) Loading Metadata? ( what needs to be added/changed in Hyperion diemnsion)
    2) Loading Data?
#2 do we have to use ODI to create interface and extract/write data from Hyperion to a flat file? isn't there any Hyperion 'Facility' which does that?
    any pointers is appreciated.
    Thanks
    ali

    Hello,
Unfortunately there is no SSO option from "Planning to FDM" via Tasks.
The URL you should tell Planning to launch in a new window is 'http://<ServerName>/HyperionFDM'
If Planning can not execute that in a fresh IE window; then there isn't much that can be done.
It might also be advantageous to post this to the Planning group as well; since this isn't necessarily an FDM discussion.
    Thank you,

  • How can I delete only shared instance of a member from Hyperion Planning

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me how I can instruct the Hyperion Planning IKM to delete a only specific instance of a shared member from Hyperion Planning? I've tried specifying the shared member, the parent of the shared instance, 'Shared' as the data storage type, and 'Delete level 0' as the operation. Instead of deleting just the shared instance under the specified parent, however, the IKM deleted the base member, which in turn deleted all shared instances of the member and all the data for the member (lucky thing I'm working in a development environment!). At one point I thought I had things working as I wanted, but now I think I must have mistaken.
Does anyone know definitively whether only a specific instance of a shared member can be deleted from Planning and, if so, exactly how to do it?
    Thanks very much.

Well, with a careful review of my ODI interfaces and some additional testing I found my problem. My interface for one dimension was defined exactly as it should be and it worked as expected, whereas I found I had failed to activate the mapping for the data storage property in my interface for another dimension (DOH!). Naturally, the latter interface deleted the base member because the default data storage property value is 'Store'.
Thanks for testing and confirming that deleting only a specific shared instance of a member from Hyperion Planning does work, John.
(P.S. to John: I can't see how to change my "Helpful" tag on your first reply to "Correct", so if you want to post another reply, I'll mark it "Correct" (for more points!). Or, if you can tell me how to modify the "Helpful" tag to "Correct" I'll do that instead.)

If you have a look at the data models in - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/epm-data-models-11121-354684.zip
There is the structure of the planning application tables, have a look at the HSP_PM_* tables
Alternatively you can look at extracting the information using LCM.

  • Unable to drill back to the FDM from Hyperion Planning

    Hello,
We are using FDM version 11.1.2.2.00 for integration with Oracle E-Business Suite. We have configured FDM to load the data in three cubes in Hyperion Planning i.e. Opex, Capex and Manpower. When we drill back to the source system after loading the data, The drill through to the source system sucessfully runs for opex and capex. But when we click on 'Drill to the Source'  from web form in Hyperion planning, it gives below error.
Error: No Locations were found matching the passed intersection values. Please verify:
    1) that the target system (originating the drillback) is properly configured;

    Hi,
In that case can you pls confirm the location is correct or not. Try to check the location from where it is drilling back the data. Compare the location with Opex/Capex scenario. It is not an integration issue, something you are missing, otherwise you will face issues with Opex & Capex also.

  • Newbie questions regarding pulling data from hyperion planning cube w/OBIEE

    Hello there,
we've recently implemented Essbase and are currently pumping it full of revenue/expense data from out source systems to calculate NOI. This data is stored in a staging table at the detail level where it is sourced into Hyperion and aggregated. We also have OBIEE 10g (plan to upgrade to 11g later this year) and we would like to connect to and report out of Essase. Our ultimate goal is to be able to report on the NOI numbers in the planning cube but have the ability to drill down to the detail level which is not stored in Essbase. We've heard it is possible, albeit not native for OBIEE 10g to do this. We've also heard that it is not best practice to use our transactional cube for this type of reporting but to actually create a second "reporting cube".
What are best practices for getting this NOI data out of Hyperion and merging it with our relational detail reporting? Can we somehow export the data from the cube and store it in a relational database? Should we clone the cube (if even possible) and configure both it and our relational source in the BI repository and setup all drill-throughs there?
Any info is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.
Edited by: cisGuy on Sep 20, 2010 5:31 PM

i have found information on how to use ODI to extract data for the cube. What I'm really trying to find out though is best practices for reporting off summary level data in Essbase with the ability to drill-through to the detail.
We've heard reporting off the same cube that users are writing back and transacting on is bad. Do we need to make a "reporting cube" and then bring that in OBIEE and merge it with a relational source or is it better to extract the data from Essbase into flat files and join it to detail tables in our relational source?

  • Remove access for each member of a particular dimension from Hyperion Planning Applciation

We are trying to remove access for groups for each member of a particular dimension( which has more than 1000 members) of a Hyperion Planning application. We are going through Administration->Manage DImensions -> member , Under security click view and select the group and then remove access But the problem is there are more than 1000 members under this dimension , so it will be time consuming to go to each member and then remove access for the group. Is there any other way we can do this?
Also is there a way to bulk delete native directory groups from Hyperion Shared services, instead of deleting each native group manually one by one?

The reaso we want to go for Relational tables is that when we did Exportsecurity utility for that planning application  and imported back the SecFile.txt without doing any changes ,still it errored out giving errors like :
"The following access not imported:-"PLN-ORG-0278-999 Bureau Strtgc & Oprtnl ""PLNning",0278-999,READWRITE,MEMBER due toInvalid user name found in the file."
It is erroing out even if we did not do any modifications to the secfile.txt.
Moreover there are more than 1000 members for which we have to remove access permissions manually one by one. It is a tedious process.
So we are looking at other options like , which relational tables have got Native directory groups information, and the sql queires we can execute to remove the unwanted Native directory groups from Shared Services?

  • FDM drill-through to source data residing in SQL Server

    Hi-
I am trying to create an FDM app allowing for drill through down to the source residing in SQL Server tables. Is it currently possible with a custom integration script which pulls data from the source and some out of the box functionality which traces back to the source data? The drill through stops at FDM work table but I need to be able to see live data in the source. What do I need to do or install to achieve that? Thank you in advance.

Well thats news to me. I know there are some custom solutions offered by partners which can drill back to any ODBC source but I've not seen a Oracle offering. Marketing literature is not always the most reliable source of information :)

  • How to create Drill through's from BPC to ECC and BEX

    Hi Experts,
    @Greetings@
Am new to BPC can any one help me on Drill trough's. I want to create a drill through to ECC system and BEX Query.
    Thanks for support in advance.
    Regards,
    Harini.

    Hi Harini,
Your Drill through functionality is linked to an on line search website, giving you all necessary information.
During reporting, you need to have more information about selected region.
Before performing or using the Drill-Through feature, ensure that the following prerequisites have been met
            1. You are logged on to any BPC Environment with administration authorizations
            2. From home screen, Switch to the administration area by clicking planning and consolidation                          Administration link
Inside admin area you find Drill through  maintainace in the content tree under the features node.
After opening the Drill through click on New button,
There we need to enter Id, Decription, URL and model name.
If you want do Drill- through from BEx query first you need to publish the query to portal. see below I mention the procedure for publishing a query in the portal.
BEx Query Designer: In the menu bar, choose Query → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
BEx Web Application Designer: In the menu bar, choose Web Template  → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
BEx Report Designer: In the menu bar, choose Report  → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
After posting to portal copy that link paste in the URL address in the drill through.
In the parameter mapping add infoobjects technical names under parameters and Dimensions names under Dimension or user defined values and maintain the which property you want map mention under the property values.
And the save the query and go to the excel and you have an option in the excel ribbon Drill Through and click on that, you will get the query which you are posted in the portal.
    This may help,

    Hi Glenn,
We tried optimizing the drill through SQL query but actually when we run the directly in TOAD it takes *23 secs* but when we do drill through on the same intersection
it took more than 25 mins. Following is our query structure :
    (SELECT *
    FROM "Table A" cp_594
    INNER JOIN "Table B" cp_595 ON (cp_594.key = cp_595.key)
WHERE (Upper(cp_595.*"Dim1"*) in (select Upper(CHILD) from (SELECT * FROM DIM_TABLE_1 where CUBE = 'ALL') WHERE CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF = 1 START WITH PARENT = $$Dim1$$ CONNECT BY PRIOR CHILD = PARENT UNION ALL select Upper(CHILD) from DIM_TABLE_1 where CUBE = 'ALL' AND REPLACE('GL_'||CHILD, 'GL_IC_', 'IC_') = $$Dim1$$))
And ----same for 5 more dimensions
Can you suggest some improvement ? Please advice.
    Thanks

  • Use ODI to Extract Data from Hyperion Planning & Budgeting report to Excel

    Hello
Can someone tell me please how to Extract Data from (Financial Reporting in) Hyperion Planning & Budgeting into Excel Using ODI?
Would the steps be the same as Creating an ODI Project and Interface: Exporting a Flat File to a Flat File? If not, why?
    Best Regards.

Where do you think the financial reports get their data from? Financial Reports pull data from data sources such as Essbase, HFM.

Have you tried restarting the services and giving it a try?
Which version of Essbase/Planning are you on?
If your Essbase server name has more than 30 characters, please use NODENAME with short server name.

  • Is FDM Drill Back Capability for Hyperion 6.5.1 inherent or custom?

    Hi,
I am new to the Hyperion Space. I want to understand if FDM drill back capabilities are automatically available for Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.1 or if there is any configuration that needs to done in order to activate this feature. If configuration needs to be done, is it limited to FDM or does one also need to configure Enterprise 6.5.1 to enable the drill back?
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi,
You need to make settings for Ent 6.5.1 / FDM to work with FDM drill back feature.
