Feature Request: Adobe, please make After effects CC keyboard shortcuts customizable as in Premiere

I'm making this feature requests because I've tried the only two known methods for customizing keyboard shortcuts in After Affects and neither of these work in CC:
• 2008 video tutorial on Creative Cow Forum for modifying the After Effects Keyboard shortcuts text file - unfortunately this doesn't work in AE CC
• a youtube tutorial about how to install KeyedUp for After Effects - tried this but also not able to change any shortcuts in AE CC
One of the things I love most about Premiere Pro CC is how many keyboard shortcuts you can customize. You can even do this in Adobe Audition.
So why not in After Effects?
Adobe please bring this feature to the next update of After Effects CC.

Essentially after following the tutorial video very carefully, modifying the shortcuts, making sure there are no traces of other instances of the old shortcut, I save the file then when I reopen AE, I get this window:
Then when I check the folder housing the shortcuts text file I see that my modified shortcut text file simply got renamed "old" at the end of the line:
See second line in window "Shortcuts.txt.old" -> that's the file I modified. It looks like AE simply spawned a new default shortcuts file titled "...Shortcuts.txt"

How to import WMV file for use in adobe programs, especially After Effects and/or Premier?

I have the latest adobe creative cloud and i'm using Mac 10.8.2
My client gave me a wmv file that she wants some people blurred out in the background but when I go to import the media, it's greyed out. I'm assuming that After Effects will be the best solution for this, but maybe there is another way.
I can purchase a video converter and convert it to .mov but that costs extra money that I don't want to spend just to do this one project.

Feature Request. Please, please, please make file name a sort option.

I find it a glaring omission that one cannot sort by file name in
PE or Organizer.

BUGS and FEATURES REQUESTED. Please add to it.

I've been using the z10 for the past couple weeks and wanted to start a thread of comprehensive Bugs and Features Requested.
I've labeled Bugs by letters (A,B,C...) and Features Requested by numbers (1, 2, 3...) so that others can add sequentially.
BUGS
(Not listed in any particular order)
(A.) Contact App adds current date as birthday. When I edit my contact, the current date gets listed as the birthday in local contact.
(B.) Duplicate telephone numbers listed. Telephone numbers show up twice in my Contacts (e.g.., if I have the contact's cell saved in (000) 123-4567 format and the person has the number listed in Facebook, I get a duplicate entry of +10001234567).
(C.) Telephone numbers and emails are not actionable in Web pages. In webpages, I can't click on telephone number to call (e.g., I look up a phone number for a restaurant). I should be able to easily call or copy into the Phone App or E-mail App.
(D.) Auto capitulation for words on the word substitution list is wrong. For example, when the word substitution contains more than one word. I have "ru" change to "are you" but if the first letter is capitalized (R) then both words become capitalized words (Are You). I used to have shortcuts like "mysig" to create email signatures with legal disclaimers but I can't do that now.
(E.) Backspace delete doesn't work consistently. The Shift+Delete function seems only to work after moving the cursor. This feature is the Alt+Del action to delete words after the cursor.
(F.) All Emoticons do not list. Emoticons do not all fit on the the two screens (lists) of emoticons. I.e., two columns are missing from view and can be seen when sliding (swiping) between the lists. Also, sometimes when I select an emoticon, it doesn't correspond with the picture of the one I intended. I believe this error is related. As a separate note, there should be a way to see the underlying symbols of the emoticon. (Often times, other people don't have BlackBerrys so I'd like to know what symbols would be sent--my prior 9800 would show the characters as i scrolled through them).
(G.) BlackBerry keyboard doesn't always work in input fields. E.g., certain Web pages. (I found a work around; two finger swipe up from the bottom makes the keyboard appear)
(H.) Sent messages stay unread. This seems to be an issue when an app sends an email (e.g., share article). The email with the sent indicator (checkmark) stays bold and I have listed 1 unread email. I can't mark as read/unread but if I delete the sent email, my unread message gets cleared.
(I.) Contact already added but I get the option to add instead of view contact. For some contacts, I get the option to add to contacts in the action menu cascade when that person is already in my address book. This bug is for emails and text messages.
(J.) Cannot call from text message. When I hold a text message and select call under the action menu cascade, the OS opens up the phone app but doesn't call.
(K.) Composing messages by name. When composting messages, the input must be by first, middle and last name. It should be, instead, by string and include nickname. E.g., if the person's name is "Andrew B. Cameron" I must type the name in as such. I can't type in "Andrew Cameron" or "Andy Cameron."
Features Requested and Suggestions for Improved User Experience
(In no particular order)
1)      Option to reply in different ways from the Call List. Be able to select a name in a call list and have options to call, text or email the person. The action menu allows calls to other numbers but I can't choose to text or email the contact instead. Sometimes, I missed a call and want to reply via text because I’m not able to talk. (Long hold on the Torch 9800 trackpad button brought up the action menu allowing me to call, text, view history, add to speed dial, e-mail, delete, etc.)
2)      Option to reply in different ways from the Hub. Related to above, when selecting an item in the hub, have the option to contact the sender or caller with multiple different ways.
3)      Only show number once in contacts application. Tap on the number to bring up the "action" cascade menu with options to call or text the number. Why is the same number listed twice (once to call and below again to text it)?
4)      Timestamps for individual text messages. I can't tell exact time on individual text message if it comes in near the time of another text. All messages are in one "bubble."
5)      Ability to select MMS or text for a message. Sometimes I write a text longer than 160 characters and I prefer it to be sent in one message (i.e., MMS mode) rather than being broken into one or more standard text messages. I had this ability with my 9800.
6)      Send button should be moved for text messages!!! Why the heck is it right underneath the delete button?!? Or next to the period button? I often times have accidentally hit send when composing text. It's very annoying and embarrassing. (Also, what happened to the ability to hit enter for a return carriage to next line?)
7)      Bigger magnifying glass. My finger is often over the area I need to place the cursor. I find it difficult and erratic to place the cursor.
8)      Select all option. Add the option to select all text in action menu cascade.
9)      E-mail recipients and message headers. Difficult to tell if you are one of many email recipients. Can we have a way to pull the email down to see the list of recipients rather than have to click to expand the header info? I know this request is a little picky, but that's how it was done in the previous BlackBerry OS which I preferred; it is easier and faster to pull the e-mail down and 'peek' to see which e-mail box received the message, message status, from and to fields. This change would be consistent with BB's flow/peek rather than click.
10)   Browser navigation. Hold down back arrow to get a list of recently visited websites similar to a desktop browser.
11)   Dark/Night mode. A night mode (maybe in the drop down menu) to change all the white and bright backgrounds to black or dark which would be helpful when reading/viewing things at night in bed/etc.
12)   Number of contacts. Ability to see how many contacts I have.
13)   What happened to groups or categories? I'd like to have back the ability to filter or see categories and also a way to contact everyone in a category. E.g., family or friends or coworkers, etc.
14)   Shutter sound mute. I was at a wedding and wanted to take pictures during the ceremony but the shutter would was too loud.
15)   East Asian Language Input. I bought my parents two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones over the weekend because they need Korean input (and the Kakao talk app). (BTW, S3 is a great phone but I prefer the Z10 after having the weekend to use the Android phones).
16)   Ability to freely place icons on the homesreen. Currently, icons are forced top left-right-to-bottom. I prefer to space my icons out.
17)   Add a contact to the homescreen. I'd like to place a shortcut (similar to a Webpage) to the homescreen for a contact which will open up the contact. Android allows this feature and so did my previous 9800.
18)   Search Contacts by nickname. The contacts app doesn't allow me to search by, e.g., Andy, even if I have that as my contact's nickname. The previous OS allowed this type of search which was very helpful.
Finally, as a note, I've been using the BlackBerry Z10 for the past 2 weeks and it's a great platform. I just bought two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones over the weekend for my parents so they could use the Korean language input and related features so I spent a lot of time with the Android platform, setting it up and teaching them how to use it. The S3 is a great phone too.
I prefer, however, the way BlackBerry has done their OS 10 and the integrated management of messages.
It's too bad that BB doesn't have Korean input and apps like Kakao Talk or I would have considered it for them.
The BlackBerry 10 is a great platform and I look forward to the continual improvements that will only make the experience better.

Adobe, please make a formal statement about "free" CS2

Folks, we have heard the whole gambit of ideas and discussions concerning Adobe's "giveaway" of CS2.
To my knowledge, there has only ever been ONE SINGLE post about CS2 NOT being released for free - and that post was in a FORUM. InDesign Secrets picked up on that one post and repeated what was said there. On Adobe's CS2 download page, there is NOTHING said one way or the other. Forum statements are always on a personal level - they are NOT a professional solution for official announcements, and should not be regarded as such.
Adobe, could you please be so kind as to issue a formal statement?
There are many people out there who would use CS2 if it were released for free - folks who will never purchase the newer versions - folks who normally use only freeware. It would be a great benefit to those folks, and it would increase your popularity, and you might even make sales with those people once they get used to your products.
I, myself have a license for CS3 Premium, CS4 Standard, InDesign CS2, but I would recommend CS2 to other folks to use instead of GIMP or other freeware. In fact, when the word went out, I was surprised and pleased and wrote to my friends. Then I had second thoughts and had to tell them "never mind - I was misled". Now, after reading the posts in this here forum, I am somewhat bewildered and confused.
Please make a formal statement about this!

I do not agree with your examples they can’t be used in this case.
The shop and speed examples just don’t make sense. The digital nature of this whole situation alone makes comparisons like shops or driving-speed-limits impossible. When you enter a shop and take something the object is moved, in this case there is nothing moved! (that’s just one point, there many others but that would make this post too long).
Also realise that the knife cuts both ways.
Ignorance of law applies to both user and provider.
If the user did wat he/she could to make sure that it seemed legit than they have done their part.
If adobe did to make sure then the user/visitor of the site can not simply grab the stuff, than the visitor places him/herself in in “illegal situation”.
If adobe gave the public the false presumption that content could be downloaded for free (NOT moved / stolen) then Adobe is also at fault and put themselves in a position where they can’t just make a statement that illegal activity has taken place on the user’s part.
To my knowledge A EULA is NOT intended when you have a license.
Even though literlally means “End User License Agreement” , it initially can’t be tied with a purchase. That will become clear AFTER you read the EULA. If you want the requirement that an initial purchase is mandatory than you must inform the user before he/she opens the EULA. Adobe has not properly informed the public on the downloadpage.
(You can not use the forum for that)
And what about freeware tools? And promotion based sites which from time to time give away software. They all have EULA’s a EULA is also to inform the user of the circumstances he/she can use the software.
If it is not clear on the website (downloadpage) than how is the user supposed to know if he/she can download and install?
- First off, the site which promoted this are respected sites. And still there are sites wich have not done any retration

- Then you have the downloadpage which has no form of restriction/ID authentication and the serials are right there.
- I installed and read the EULA and at that point it seemed al legit.

Adobe only used the forum to communicate that it was not intended as an giveaway, but as an way for owners with genuine CS2 license to reinstall because of the de-activation of authentication servers. BUT they never stated that downloading and using this version without a previous CS2 license is illegal.
· IF it is illegal to download and install then adobe would state that literally asap (right at the moment they explained in the forum that this is not for non CS2-license holders). Now there is only silence and adobe forum moderators are not responding to issue directly (an sort of "edict" from the adobe management not to discuss until further notice?)
· Days after this fiasco adobe hasn't taken any precautions to avoid further downloading/misunderstanding. (they still left the page as is, they even removed the requirement of an adobe ID to reach the page)
You cannot use the shop or speed example in this case, pro or against adobe.
The software world is totally different.
There are enough examples where older versions are given away as form promotions, and there even promotions which began “silent’ and then went viral.
And realise that the UK law doesn’t apply for the rest of the world, Adobe realises this and therefore hasn’t made an official statement yet. Not just a forum statement which led to some retractions within certain sites.
The assumption of “Consent of the copyright owner” was given on the moment when the downloadpage went up AND no form of notification was given.
Adobe still hasn’t informed me properly through email that download and install of the CS2 is only valid for users who have a previous genuine license.

Knowing that there was no form of proper notification (and still none), how are the people who downloaded, installed and registered this to know that this was not some form of promotion?

How do I make After Effects CS5.5 preview in full FPS?

I have After Effects CS5.5 and whenever I put a clip into it and try to play the clip in a preview I get a message in the player that says its playing at a certain frame rate out of the frame rate it should be and then in parentheses (not realtime). How do I fix this because the average FPS I get on a preview is around 9 FPS which for me is unusable a lot of the time.

To answer your question directly, don't push play! AE can't play a thing because it was never designed to. Do a RAM Preview by hitting zero on the numeric keypad.
And since you're brand-new here, there's a VERY crucial question to ask: have you ever used After Effects before?
The reason: it's not the kind of application you use for a couple of tricks with and expect things to turn out right the first time. It takes a good knowledge of the AE basics to make it do what you want.

Can not save in Audition after using "Edit in Adobe Audition" from After Effects CC

Following the extra credit activity in Lesson 5 of "Adobe After Effects >> Classroom in a Book".
Using Win7 and everything is local on my C drive.
When i try to save in Audition I get "This file is in use by another application and cannot be overwritten"
I searched the forums including this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4520401) but nothing seemed to apply to me.
Using unlocker, it seems that the piano.wav file is locked by DynamicLinkMediaServer.exe single PID but three handles. see a Piano.pkf files in folder but it is not locked and piano.wav is file showing up in audition. Quit audition a and tried again, so not sure if extra handles are artifacts from previous attempts or not.
Just learning CC, but I've been programming PCs from the beginning so quite familiar in those aspects if you need me to track things down. Seems like this has been an issue for quite some time, but not in an environment as plain vanilla as mine.
Any assistance would be greatly apprciated. The inter-program integration is a big asset to CC, but this is a major roadblock.

Go to the hardware setup - the settings for Edit View recording and Multitrack View recordings are separate, and it sounds as though one is configured correctly and the other isn't.

Adobe Flash/Photoshop/After Effects CS4 Installation - Internet Explorer Script Error

Greetings everyone. Another Adobe Installation disaster story.
I'm trying to install the aforementioned products (Flash, Photoshop, After Effects) on my computer, but I get about 20 "Internet Explorer Script Error"'s every time. [I don't even use Internet Explorer] I don't understand why the installation worked on a different computer I own but not this one. Both of them are running Windows XP Home.
I've already tried removing all Adobe Products, using msicuu2.exe, CS4CleanupScript from Adobe, etc...

Adobe Media encoder, After effects Installing problem

When i try to Start Any of the programs above, i keep getting Error 1 which tells me to Reinstall tried that multiple of times not sure what i need to do to get it to work.

if that fails to solve the ae problem:
uninstall, clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then reinstall using the default settings including program locations.

Uninstalling and re-installing to make After Effects CC 12.0.1 update work

I tried to run the After Effects CC 12.0.1 patch as After Effects CC will not launch after updating to Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks.
I get the following error:
After Effects CC (12.0.1) bug-fix update
Update is not applicable. Error Code: U44M2P28
I have read elsewhere that the patch may not work on trial versions...I am technically on a 12 month free trial for attending Adobe Max, is this the issue and if so how can this be resolved?

I used the advice of another thread of uninstalling/reinstalling Adobe After Effects CC and then trying the patch and it worked, good to go here. I'm sure there may be plenty of Adobe Max attendees with trials that will have this issue, hopefully they find this fix as well.

Adobe Exchange for After Effects?

The old Adobe exchange is gone. I tried to download the exchange extention, and it seems to work fine for photoshop and illustrator. It seems, howerver that there is no exchange for After Effects. What heppend to all those nice scripts and pixel benders?

How do I make After Effects files in Windows 7 open in AE CS5 instead of the default CS5.5?

I have AE 5.5 and 5 installed on a Windows 7 machine and I'd like .AEP files open in CS5 by default.
I've tried using windows explorer to specify using the CS5 program but it defaults back to CS5.5
I've tried using Bridge CS5 and CS5.5 Edit/Preferences/File Type Associations but After Effects isn't even listed for some reason.
The only way I can open files in CS5 is by opening CS5 and opening the files from there. Trouble is I have more CS5 files than CS5.5 and I collaborate with several other artists only running CS5 so converting them to CS5.5 isn't an option right now.
Any ideas?

Nah, won't work. You would have to completeley erase the "After Effects Project" file type from your file associtaions and then literally rebuild it from scratch. Yes, that means heavy surgery by digging into the Registry and its HKEY_CASSES_ROOT branch as just removing it from the Explorer file associations still leaves the file type class in place. Long answer short: Just leave things as they are and keep your work organized. I never use double-clicking and I'm juggling versions from CS4 to CS6 every day, so it's possible.
