FEATURED NEWS BUG WORKAROUNDS?

When I place a Featured News Widget with a TARGET that overlaps (is in a layer above) a slide show, and choose HORIZONTAL or VERTICAL as the TRANSITION, it renders the Slideshow on the layer underneath INACTIVE, unrepsonsive to any commands. When I change the TRANSITION to fading, it works just fine. Any clues?

New bug in Aperture 2.1

I had been using Aperture 2.1 for some time with only the usual bugs, most commonly, the Viewer screen going black or blue or red occasionally, but a new bug has appeared that is forcing me to restart Aperture frequently. After making edits, when I move on to the next image in the Browser (the thumbnail highlighting changes, as it should) the image in the Viewer does not change. I have not found a way to get a new image in the Viewer except restarting Aperture. This is greatly slowing down my processing of big projects.
Has anyone else seen this bug? Have you found a workaround beside restarting?

can u guys please give us a little more info? where's the aperture library located? in your main hard drive (os x) or on another drive?
are you sending the crash logs to apple?

How to use new feature "New Picture"?

SDDM 4.1.0.866 has a new feature ("New Picture"), icon to the right of "New Note" icon. Using this icon, I can insert an external image in a relational diagram, but when I go through the same motions on a logical diagram, the image does not show up. Am I not using the new feature correctly, or does it apply only to relational diagrams? Thanks.

it should be possible to add image to diagrams in all models. It appears there is a problem for diagrams in logical model.

Feature or bug? (ListView/SelectionModel)

I attach a short program which illustrates a phenomenon I have observed. Basically, I am trying to repeatedly delete the first item displayed in a ListView. I select that item using SelectionModel.select(0) or SelectionModel.selectFirst() and then delete SelectionModel.getSelectedItem() from the underlying item list. The first time round it works. The second time round, SelectionModel.getSelectedItem() still returns the item from the first iteration. I would have expected the call to SelectionModel.select(0) to update selectedItemProperty. Have I misunderstood something? Should I be doing something different?
Interestingly, a similar thing occurs if you replace select(0) with selectLast().
But if you call select(1) everything works as I had expected (selectedItemProperty is updated).

Hi, I'm the engineer behind the selection model API.
There are a few things to note first:
1) It is totally valid for the selectedItem to represent an item that is not actually part of the ListView.items list. It just means that if the selectedItem is set to a non-existent item, and when the item is added to the listview.items list, the selectedIndex will update to point to this selectedItem.
2) Events don't fire when the property value doesn't change. So the first time you select(0) you end up with the selected index event firing as the new value is 0. If nothing else changes and you call select(0) again, you'll get no event fired.
Now, I would argue that if the selected item / index is removed from the ListView.items list, it should be removed from the selection. This does not appear to be happening. There may be various reasons why this doesn't happen (selection models can have a LOT of nuances that all need to be keep balanced like a man with his spinning plates), but you should file a bug so I can investigate deeper.

CF8 cfdocument tag has a few new bugs

This discusses two new bugs in CF8 having to do with footers
in cfdocument.
***FIRST BUG***
With CFMX7, I could define a new footer by putting a new
<cfdocumentitem type="footer"> tag in each cfdocumentsection
of my pdf report. Each could have a different string, e.g., so that
the footer could tell the reader which chapter she is reading. This
does not work in CF8. The chapter name that appears on all pages is
the one defined in the last <cfdocumentitem type="footer">
tag in the cfdocument. Now only the page number changes
dynamically. Sample code:

In CF8, you cannot cfinclude the same template multiple times
in a given template - you get an error (at least sometimes). A
workaround is to make multiple copies of the template, each with a

Their books are a tough read for beginners and O'Reilly

core" types. I
belive this as the only CF developers I know are actually
more "designers"
than developers - I know of no professional coder/developers
that would
touch CF. Thats just my personal observation, btw.

order to die. There used to be hundreds of cf jobs advertised

no longer any CF classes advetised or held in nearly all
states - they
literally shut them down. I'm confident enough that the
comment "CF is dead"
is accurate.

When the target widow of a FEATURED NEWS widget is layered on top of a GALLERY, and the transition of the FN Widget is set to Vertical or Horizontal, then the Gallery is rendered inoperable.'
But if the FEATURED NEWS widget transition is set to Fading, then the Gallery is not affected.
Why? Im guessing this is a bug.

New bug introduced with Keynote 5.2 - Set timing and order of each build has stopped working properly on Smart Builds

Hi there,
We're heavy users of Keynote and have noticed a new bug has recently been introduced into something that was stable. I think it has emerged in Keynote 5.2, could have been Keynote 5.1 also.
It's in the area of Set Timing and Order of each build when used on a Smartbuild. You can no longer set the Start Build field for each instance within the Smart build when the instances are interspersed between other items. The Start build field is just blank and unselectable.
To see this :
1. Create a bullet point list with 4 lines
2. Set build to Appear
3. Set "Set Timing and Order of each Build" to on
4. Create a Smart Build - set to flip
5. On the Smart Build Set "Set Timing and Order of each Build" to on
5. re-order the items in your Build Order so that they alternate between the bullet point and the smart build flip
At this point, you used to be able to set the bullets so that they Started on Click and then set the smart builds to Start with previous. This gave you a nice and very useful effect where you could click to reveal a bullet point and at the same time flip in a corresponding image. We've used this loads of times in our company presentations.
With a recent keynote update ( I think 5.2 maybe, could have been 5.1) this functinality has been lost. have tried it on Lion and Mountain Lion and it's not an OS issue, its a Keynote issue.
Could anyone from Apple acknowledge that they know the issue and suggest if it will get fixed? Right now we're hunting round for an old Keynote 9 DVD so we can install a pre build 5.2 version.

I've noticed the bug you describe and to me it's very irritating.
I also found some differences in the build menu between the last release and the previous one, and between the Mac OS X and iOS versions. For instance, the blast build doesn't exist anymore in Keynote 5.2 but it's still in the version for iOS 6.
What is your experience about?

How to change the order of the tabs in featured news?

Hi,
I use the 'Featured News' widget on my company website and it has 10 tabs. The newest item is at the top but when I add a new tab it goes to the bottom and I can find no way of changing the order of the tabs so that everytime I add new news I have to copy each tab and it's content down one place in order to get an empty tab at the top to put the new news item in. This takes an unneccesssarily long period of time. Can someone please let me know if there is an easy way to change the order of the tabs?

Just click on the title tab until it is isolated (one click before the text is highlighted) and move the tab to the position you want.

I've done this in the past but found that the position of the tab in terms of it's place in the hierachy doesn't change so if I move the top tab down one, the way you've described and then upload the page I find that the second tab down (which was the first previously) displays first. How can I change the 'position of the tabs interms of their hierachy in the widget?

Featured news composition widget causing crash?

It seems there is a problem with the featured news widget. Actually several... First, you are unable to replace the photos by clicking on a folder icon at the top like you can do with slideshows. To get around this, I just deleted the stock images and filled the frame with a new image, so that’s not too big a problem, it just seems you should be able to somehow change the existing picture rather than deleting and adding a whole new image.
The next issue I encountered is that I can’t edit the bars to the left together. I am having to go to each individual “bar” and change all the states. Also, when I clicked the plus button to add new “bars” it would add only blank bars and a blank frame to the right, so I would have to copy the text box from the bars above and paste them to the new bars, plus also copy the stock image and text from one of the first three boxes to the right and paste that as well to each new box. It seems that when you click the plus button it should fill in the same contents as the “bar” above it, right?
Then, the major issue: once I changed all the states and had it all set up, I tried to save the site and it gave me an error message and didn't save any of the changes I had just made. I know a lot of other people have had this happen. Luckily this is pretty much the only change I made to the site since the last time I saved it, so it makes me think that somehow the widget is the problem and reason for the crash.

Many thanks for your 'correct' and prompt answer. I tried to make it CORRECT on the Forum, but after clicking the link, did not know where to go since this is my first time using this forum.
As it turned out, I was indeed using the font (Georgia) but did not realize that this particular font can also be used as a System font as well. So I chose the wrong Georgia font which was the System font. I corrected this issue throughout and made doubly sure that I used the Web Font Georgia.

New bug in Ultrabeat into Logic Pro 8.0.1

Hey guys check this... a brand new bug (hope it would be only my mac, but with 8.0.0 there wasn't)
so open ultrabeat, choose the preset called Drag & drop samples under Drum Kits.
(just to use one free preset)
load a file and record something, then press play in order to listen your drum and try to load an other sample to make comparison (example: load a kick, do a 4/4 drum, try to replace the kick with an other sample and check the Preview sample in ultrabeat to try comparison... )
after this update no more Preview sample in ultrabeat voice (and than note will stop on playing when u try that function

yes here the same, bug new in 8.0.1, cause on logic 8.0.0 all works fine (except some click noise when you pre-listen a file in autoloop)

- i try to update to leopard from my 10.4.11 (same bug) tryin a new os installation (same bug), tryn without audio card and driver (same bug)

New BUg in 645E MAX 2

Hi, I found a new bug in 645E MAX 2. When you run the FSB at 145Mhz, and boot it up, the actual frequency that it will run is 87. something... I verified this in wcpuid. On top of that, I ran the sandra benchmark and that also verified that the FSB was running slower. I change the FSB to 144 and 146, and both ran fine ehehhe...

i guess the system cant handle 145 and set itself to safe values after freezing?

Here is my shortlist:
1. Copy/Cut and paste - sadly still missing...
2. Landscape view for keyboard - SMS and Email - still missing...!
3. AM/PM indicator missing from "unlock" screen (in 12 hour clock) - BUG
... What's wrong with Apple these days - all of these issues (listed above) could have been easily implemented in version 2.2 and were frequently requested by all iPhone users since version 1.0 and yet Apple have ignored all of them...

These features may or may not be that difficult to include, but what made you "fork out huge amounts to pay for a 'top of the range' iPhone" in the first place?
As already provided, Apple has what is called their own "allocation of resources and prioritization", and if what is included doesn't meet your needs or wants, you should not have purchased an iPhone in the first place, or continue to keep using the iPhone if Apple doesn't include the features you need or want in a time table that meets your expectations, since there are plenty of cheap $100 phones that meet your needs or wants, you have a wide range of other phones to choose from which are less expensive, so that is exactly what you should do. No point in continuing to use a device that does not meet your needs or wants. Use one of the many less expensive devices you have to choose from that meets your needs or wants and move on.

Link not working in Featured News Composition

All of the links in this news panel (in the bottom half of the page) work apart from the Barbie one at the bottom:

I checked your site and found that there is some component that is overlapping the featured news section (for the link that says "life size barbie dreamhouses to open..."), and hence you are not able to click on the link. This component may be an empty textframe, rectangle etc. or the frame for another component being too large.
Please go to the design mode in Muse for this page and locate this component, and remove or resize it accordingly, after which the link would become clickable.
You may open the page in design mode and "select all" for ease of locating it.
