This is most frustrating. I was attempting to submit an insurance claim, and was required to submit documentation through the insurance company's web page. For reasons unknown to me, Safari WOULD NOT display the section of the web page required to submit documentation. I ended up using another browser. How can Apple truly expect the general population to use their product when their product doesn't allow users to complete the tasks they need to accomplish. Pathetic.

I've tried Camino (successfully), Minefield (FF, I know, but yes, successful), OmniWeb (interestingly, a failure), Webkit (oops...not so much) and IE (needless to say, it worked).
Honestly Rachel, it's nothing against you personally, because even if you are right (and as far as your point on standards and web design, you are correct), we're both right. The average user isn't going to care. They're going to use whatever works, and probably not go back to what didn't work. The customer service rep I was dealing with had no idea about the differences in browsers, or which browser I was using. All she knew was that the little blue button that said "Attach" is in the middle of the page on her browser on her screen, and I was probably a blind, silly old man.
Maybe I want Apple to be the best they can be - I want them to lead the way not just from a market standpoint, but because I believe in their products. But, it's hard to stick with one product that doesn't allow you to do the things you need to do, regardless of who causes the problem. When I open my browser, I want to open it knowing that no matter what web site I go to, it's going to function completely (note I didn't say "properly"), because having to open up a second browser to get the job done is just a waste of my time.
I hope you can understand that.

PS CC: new features unavailable

Hi there.
A pretty weird thing:
I have managed after some unsuccessful update attempts to update from PS CS6 to PS CC.
I checked that I now have PS Extended (did not have that version before) and that the version number is 13.1.2. I cannot find the new features, however. I looked specifically for Camera Raw as a filter and the new image size dialogue, but they are simply not there.
Any idea would be welcome.

You can't have CC and its features because it hasn't been released yet. June 17 is the day to mark on your calender.

Server Monitoring Feature Unavailable - CF10 Standard

Hi,
We have recently undergone the process of installing ColdFusion 10 Standard on our new server, and were looking to test performance across the two.
Within the ColdFusion Administrator, Server Monitoring>Settings and Server Monitoring>Server Monitor, I receive the message, "This feature is not available in this edition of the ColdFusion server.
Under System Information the version is listed as 10.0.11.285437 and up to date. The server itself is running Windows Server 2008 R2.
This was the original article to configure server monitoring.
However I then ended up with another article, which involved editing neo-monitoring.xml (linked in previous), which did not appear to do anything.
If someone can shed some light on why I am getting this error, as it says the standard version only limits use of the monitoring API, that would be much appreciated.

Hi Scott,
You need Enterprise or Developer edition to run CF Server Monitor.
You could try Java JVM logging or JMX style monitoring that is freely available in Java which CF Standard and Enterprise runs on to get some performance metrics.

Nokia glance feature unavailable

Hello,
I updated my nokia lumia 620 phone to amber, and i could install nokia smart camera and enjoy high touch sensitive feature. But i could not get glance feature. The option isn't available to activate it in display and touch. And yea i tried sliding it sideways. Please help. Thank you.

Notation feature unavailable in GB2

I'm a newbie to GB (2.02) I've recorded a track from my keyboard, and according to the help file I should be able to view the track in notation view by clicking the musical note which is supposed to be in the lower right hand corner of the editor header. Maybe I'm blind, but I can't see a musical note anywhere on the interface (except in the display window to change to musical time)... duhh?

You have to open the Track Editor, click on the Scissors icon, and it has to be a Software track (if you recorded the audio from your keyboard there is no notation available).

A list of Windows.Security.Cryptography features unavailable in Metro apps

Hello,
I'm playing with Windows.Security.Cryptography namespace (framework version: 4.5.1, a Metro/Windows Store revision) for last couple of days and I found out that a lot of methods within this namespace throw a System.NotImplementedException. Particularly,
this exception is thrown by Windows.Security.Cryptography.Core.CryptographicEngine.VerifySignatureWithHashInput() and CryptographicKey.Export() and ExportPublicKey() methods.
I wonder if there is any official list of methods that are not implemented in the Metro version of the framework available somewhere?

I think I may have misread this post - are you saying that these methods throw "Not Implemented" at runtime?

That doesn't make sense - these are definitely implemented and should run. Can you show code that shows how they throw the exception for you?

New streaming photo feature unavailable

hi--
i've installed itunes 7.3 and seen some of the interface modifications that are displayed in the site iLounge but, for some reason, i cannot get photo streaming to work on my mac/apple tv.
supposedly a new list for photos is to appear under my apple tv in devices. all of the previous ones are there (music, tv shows, podcasts, etc) but no photos. apple tv says i need to set up streaming in itunes but without a photos selection available i can't.
i've restarted both the mac and apple tv, checked in my firewall settings to make sure that the photo sharing ports are open (they are) and still nothing.
others in a different topic have mentioned this but that's it.
any thoughts?

Devices only show in this list when they sync with itunes, streaming devices don't show in this list. But you are essentially correct we seem to be missing the option in itunes to turn on photo streaming, we are all looking, I'd wondered if it only appears during the process of registering the tv with itunes.

"Edit templates" feature not working properly for web apps in Dreamweaver CS6?

This is along with the web apps tag list not appearing in the Data tab of the Business Catalyst side palette.
However, it works fine with the existing announcement module.
Is this feature unavailable for use with web apps, or am I doing something wrong?

We have a bug that prevents correct web app matching if the web app name contains ' ' (space), + (plus), '(', ')', '[', ']' .
In order to work around the bug please remove space, plus or parentheses from the webapp name.

The only "content aware" feature in CS5 is the fill, so you are not missing anything with the updates because nothing more is there. And I honestly don't know what you mean by "Adobe watermarks" there is no such thing, but there is a series of scripts for such stuff.

Mobile Me on Death Row?

Hello fellow iWebbers. When Apple moved us from mac.com to me.com, many of us lost all the comments that people posted on our blogs, podcasts, photo pages, et al. Now that Apple has released OS X Lion and iCloud, iCloud will supplant Mobile Me, whose demise is scheduled for June 2012. But iCloud will no longer support iWeb publishing like Mobile Me. The only recourse we will have is to publish our iWeb Sites to another hosting service. But currently, all the neat features supported by Mobile Me, such as blog and photo comments, website password, blog search, and hit counter, are not supported when publishing an iWeb Site to another hosting service. I have left feedback on both the iWeb and the Mobile Me feedback pages, requesting that Apple release to us the CGI scripts that are necessary to support blog and photo comments, website password, blog search, and hit counters on iWeb Sites hosted by other hosting services, before Mobile Me goes to the same cemetery as old Dot Mac. I hereby invite all the iWeb community to post feedback both on the Mobile Me and iWeb feedback pages and ask that Apple release those necessary CGI scripts to the iWeb community BEFORE the Mobile Me server is taken down.

To add another take on the situation:
It is now is apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, will no longer be supported by Apple since new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD. iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ RSS Feed Widget
All of these issues can be replaced with 3rd party options as Cyhclosaurus has pointed out. There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and myself have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued. This will allow us to use iWeb for as long as the OS supports iWeb and iWeb support web standards.
I would imagine that iWeb and iDVD will be dropped from future boxed versions of iLife 11. However, there may be some copies still on the shelves that would include iWeb and iDVD for those who get new Macs without those two apps. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife box that I bought.
The biggest fear I have is that Apple will drop this iWeb Community after MMe is discontinued since it won't be officially supporting iWeb. If we lose the community and and access to the contributions of those users like Cyclosaurus, Wyodor, Roddy, etc. who provide us with scripts and the many solutions for adding additional capability to iWeb we will all be on our own and out on a limb.

Can Numbers Display Multiple Views of the Same Table

Hi,
Excel and Appleworks both have a pull down tab on the vertical bar allowing multiple views into the same spreadsheet (table). Can Numbers do this?
I have a set of calculations at the top of a spreadsheet that are based on years and years worth of data under the calculations (same column). I add data for each new event (the rows) and watch the calculations at the top of the data. Easy to do in Excel or Appleworks, but, I can't figure out how to do this in Numbers.
Example:

Total 15 36
Avg 5 12
Jan 09 5 10
Feb 09 6 20
Mar 09 4 6
Apr 09
So... does Numbers allow the view "split" or multiple views that Excel and Appleworks allow?

For multiple views of a table there is an easy workaround as we may build a table whose every cells grab their contents from the 'master' one.
_Go to "Provide Numbers Feedback" in the "Numbers" menu_, describe what you wish.

Problems with multiple TestStand versions on the same computer

I installed LabVIEW 2014 and TestStand 2014; then later I installed TestStand 2010 SP1 and have been using it since. (I also updated LabVIEW 2014 to 14.0f1; I think I did that after installing TestStand 2010 SP1.) Is this "legal?" I have been seeing strange behavior with TestStand 2010 SP1:
- if I type in any expression text boxes in the Sequence Editor (e.g., for a pre-expression), I periodically get an error dialog as I type:
"The .NET support dll could not be loaded. This is caused by an assembly path that could not be resolved. Error Code: -18700, The .NET support dll could not be loaded. This is caused by an assembly path that could not be resolved! Source: 'TSAPI'
After I acknowledging the dialog, I can contine to type a little more before getting the dialog again, but it doesn't seem to invalidate anything I type.
- If I open the Simple LabVIEW Simple User Interface that ships with TestStand 2014 while TestStand 2010 SP1 is active, LabVIEW immediately crashes. I can open all the subVIs without a problem, but the top-level VI always crashes LabVIEW.
So I used the TestStand Version Switcher to make TestStand 2014 active, opened the top-level Simple UI VI, and deleted all the UI controls. Then I switched back to TestStand 2010 SP1, and then I was able to open the top-level VI. I added back the TestStand UI controls to the VI, and now the VI runs. But many operations return a TestStand error dialog, such as Close Execution ("Value invalid or out of range [Error Code: -17300]"), Logout ("Cannot find item to select in ComboBox [Error Code: -2147467259]"), and (critically) Exit ("Operation Failed. Error Code: -17500]") and the X in the upper right corner of the window ("Operation Failed. Unknown System Error in <VI name>"). So I can't exit without killing LabVIEW.
These two issues may be unrelated. But maybe installing an older version of TS after installing a newer version is not a valid use case? Is the ActiveX error a result of this? Should it be possible to use a (simple) UI written for a newer version of TestStand be able to work with an older version of TestStand?
I have another issue that is probably unrelated, but I'll bring it up here just for completeness. If I right-click on a LV property node or invoke node for a property or method from the TS API and ask for help for the property or method, a command window flashes briefly before showing the TS help window with the top-level item selected (i.e., it doesn't take me to the help for the selected property or method). I have this problem with either version of TS active, and I saw this problem even before I installed TS 2010 SP1. I seem to recall having this problem once before, but I can't find the solution. I don't know if this problem is an indication of some other larger problem.
For what it's worth, I am running WIndows 8.1 on a virtual machine.

Thanks for the information, Doug. Maybe the ActiveX error dialog I get while in the sequence editor is related to the fact that I'm running an unsupported operating system.
So using a UI that was created in a newer version of TS is not supposed to be able to run with an older version of TS. Is there any way to enforce this (like having a dialog appear informing you of the incompatibility when the TS engine is loaded) and avoid an immediate crash? (Maybe the crash has to do with the incomaptible OS as well.)
Is there a way to "relink" a UI to an older version of TestStand? Can you just relink all the ActiveX reference controls/constants to the TS ActiveX servers? As far as I can tell, everything I am trying to do with the new TS version should work with the old version. And also, as far as I can tell, the TS version switcher changes the version of the available ActiveX server; so unless my UI uses a feature unavailable in older TS versions, I would think it shouldn't know the difference. (I'm making a lot of assumptions in that last statement, so I may be totally wrong here.)

I have downloaded the all in one app remote for my galaxy note 3, my printer is the hp officejet 4500 wireless; I wanted to use the app to scan my documents, but the message said "some features unavailable" & I can't press on the scan button. I had already linked my printer to my router& linked my printer to my smartphone. Please help me...

Welcome to the HP Support forums. I understand that while using the HP All-in-One Printer Remote app that you are getting a message saying “some feature unavailable”.
The Officejet 4500 wireless is not a supported printer for HP’s AiO app. You printer only supports HP’s ePrint mobile app. I have included the HP Web-Connected Printers and Supported Cloud Services document for reference.

Can I insert the filename automatically in Numbers?

When I used Excell, on all my invoices, quotations,... I had a text-field with some part of the filename, so the reference of the document was automatically extracted from the filename. The syntax was something like: CEL("filename";A1).
Does something like this exist in numbers? I can't find it. The purpose is to have the filename mentioned in the document instead of typing it over again.

How can I open a document in a new window? I need to have 2 open windows, with the same document. In MS Office, its "open in a new window". Thanks!

It is a good script, Yvan, for what it does. However, even with that script it is a long way to the full MS Word functionality. In MS Word, you can change the content in any of the open windows, and the modifications are instantly visible everywhere.
