Server Monitoring Feature Unavailable - CF10 Standard

Hi,
We have recently undergone the process of installing ColdFusion 10 Standard on our new server, and were looking to test performance across the two.
Within the ColdFusion Administrator, Server Monitoring>Settings and Server Monitoring>Server Monitor, I receive the message, "This feature is not available in this edition of the ColdFusion server.
Under System Information the version is listed as 10.0.11.285437 and up to date. The server itself is running Windows Server 2008 R2.
This was the original article to configure server monitoring.
However I then ended up with another article, which involved editing neo-monitoring.xml (linked in previous), which did not appear to do anything.
If someone can shed some light on why I am getting this error, as it says the standard version only limits use of the monitoring API, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,
You need Enterprise or Developer edition to run CF Server Monitor.
You could try Java JVM logging or JMX style monitoring that is freely available in Java which CF Standard and Enterprise runs on to get some performance metrics.
HTH, Carl.

  • Server Monitoring Problem

    I have had a situation where we installed CF 8 and ran the
    trial version for some time before we bought the Standard LIcense
    and applied it. We were checking out the server monitoring during
    our trial period, and had it enabled. Now--because we are running
    the Standard edition the server monitor is unavailable. However--I
    am still receiving emails generated by the server monitor. Is there
    a way to disable the server monitor--without accessing the
    interface?
    Thanks,

    Go to "neo-monitoring.xml" in "\ColdFusion8\lib"
    change
    <var name="monitoringenabled">
    <boolean value="false" />
    </var>
    save the file and restart the server.

  • Upgrading from 7 to 9 and server monitor

    We just upgraded from cf7 to cf9 and are getting a message in the server monitor that is is unavailable in this version. Our server is Windows 2003 and IIS6 with the standard edition.
    It appears to be the issue covered by this tech note
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/527/cpsid_52797.html
    The files in the tech note though are for cf8, which we never had, so I'm not sure if it will work (and I'm a bit leery to experiment on a production server).
    Matt

    We did not do a 30 day trial install, if that is what you mean.
    We did make a clone of the production server (since it is a vm) and installed it. The server monitor was not something we looked it. Our configuration has some quirks in that we process htm and html requests thru cold fusion. So that was the main focus and debugging nature of our testing. We also had some data source issues.
    The server monitor is something we didn't have in 7, so I was just "checking it out" now that we are live on production.

  • Portlets supported in CF10 Standard?

    Hi there CF people!
    Are portlets supported in CF 10 standard? We are putting a server together to handle portlet versions of our apps, and wondered if CF 10 standard has remote portlet support?
    Thanks!
    Dave Kraft

    I sure appreciate the answer Pete!
    BTW I was reading your posts and presentations last week on portlets using previous CF versions. I'm wondering how popular the mix of CFand portlet servers is.
    On the subject of CF10 standard, I read this morning that HTML5 charts were crippled in CF10 standard, forcing users to buy the Enterprise version if they want that feature. Have you heard that too?

  • Out of Office error: 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.'

    Hi,
    This is my first post in the forums. Please forgive me if it's in the wrong category or if it's not posted correctly in any way.
    I'll try and give you below as much information about the problem we have here as I can.
    What we have:
    - an on-premises Windows 2012 Standard server that is the PDC, DNS and DHCP server;
    - a second Windows 2012 Standard server with the sole purpose of hosting our Exchange 2013 CU7 server;
    - Windows 7 PCs with Office Home and Business 2010 v.14.0.7143.5000 (32-bit);
    - Outlook 2010 connects through Outlook Anywhere (mail.ourdomain.com).
    The problem:
    If trying to set up Out of Office through Outlook on the client PCs, we'd get an error message: 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.' Interestingly, it does work normally for some users.
    It works fine for all users if done through OWA.
    Tests performed:
    User 1 on PC1 has the problem. User 2 on PC2 doesn't have the problem. Both users are members of the same security groups.
    - setting up User 2 on PC 1: the problem exists;
    - setting up User 1 on PC 2: the problem exists;
    - setting up a second Outlook profile on PC2 within User 2's domain account (the one that works), for the same User 2: the problem still exists!
    I haven't been able to set up an Outlook account that works since this issue was discovered, although there are existing Outlook accounts that do not have the issue.
    Let me also point out we have another issue we are working on and which may or may not be related: the Autodiscover function in Outlook doesn't work. Test E-mail AutoConfiguration results in 'Autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings!'.
    I can see postings in the Internet of other people having the same problem with OoO, but couldn't see a solution that fits my case: some existing accounts in Outlook are fine, other are not and newly created profiles of aforementioned working accounts do not
    work. The majority of the articles/threads I read suggest recreating the Virtual Directories in Exchange, but we did that just a month ago (when troubleshooting the Autodiscover problem) and besides if the problem is in the Virtual Directories, I would expect
    it to affect all accounts.
    Any help in resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need other details.
    Apologies if the posting is not in the right place or not done properly - I'm still learning.

    The IIS log files on the CAS might tell you something. Depending on how your proxy server handles NAT the IP address of your connection might be from the proxy server instead of your client.
    In any case, a tool like Fiddler (http://www.telerik.com/fiddler) can be extremely helpful in working on problems like this because it can decode the SSL traffic on the client and you can see what's being sent
    and what's being received.
    Another thing to check (although it's unlikely to be your case) is whether or not your browser (when you try connecting to the autodiscover URL) thinks it's in the "Internet" zone. the "Local intranet", or at a "Trusted" site.
    The domain names you use on machines on your LAN should be excluded from being proxyed. Anything with "." in the name will be set, unless excluded, to the proxy server.
    Is the time correct on the client machine? Is it more than 5 minutes different to the Exchange machines and domain controllers? That'd be something that would cause Kerberos to fail.
    A certificate can be a problem if its expired or if it doesn't have the correct names. But I wouldn't worry about the uglog.com domain just yet. Until you get the Autodiscover working with the SCP you have bigger problems.
    If you've never used a WPAD file then don't worry about it. It's very useful if you have a complex network and you want to manage how browsers connect to servers. For example, if you have multiple proxy servers the each manage a different set of names, an/or
    if some names should bypass proxy servers entirely and just connect directly. If run a strictly Microsoft network with only Microsoft product that you can manage with GPOs (and you can enforce those GPOs on every machine -- even the BYOD ones) you probably
    don't need a WPAD.

  • CF8 on Apache: server monitor's flex2gateway 500 error

    The basic problem has been fairly well documented elsewhere, but this is it in a nutshell:
    When you attempt to bring up the server monitor (a Flex app) in CF 8, the monitor can fail to let you in, and instead display a 'Coldfusion Server is Unavailable' message. On the backend, I see this:
    2011-06-13 17:58:55,051 ERROR [org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.[jboss.web].[localhost].[/].[MessageBrokerServlet ]] Servlet.service() for servlet MessageBrokerServlet threw exception
    flex.messaging.MessageException: No configured channel has an endpoint path '/flex2gateway/cfamfsecure/index.cfm'.
    I've seen documentation on how to fix this in IIS and JRun, but we're using Apache 2.2 and JBoss.
    Been scouring the Interwebs for a solution, but it's eluded me.
    Can anyone help? Thanks much in advance.
    Steve

    Looks as though one solution is to bypass Apache by hitting CF Admin via the JBoss port that it's running on. As that's working for me, I'll mark this question as answered! :-)

  • Printer Error server-error-service-unavailable

    Im currently getting the errpr msg server-error-service-unavailable when im trying to connect to a printer. I have found out how to over come this problem by resetting the printer.
    Reset Printing System feature, follow these steps:
    In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
    Open Printer Setup Utility.
    From the Printer Setup Utility menu, choose Reset Printing System.
    Click Reset.
    My problem now is when i reboot or shut down my machine ect, and then want to print some thing out all the printers are lost again. I then have to reset them as well as adding them again due to the same error coming back. Does any one have an idea why the printers would keep going because of a reboot or shut down? I have the latest drivers installed for the printers in use as well as the latest OS.

  • Server Monitor Email Notification settings

    Ciao!
    Email notification settings in Server Monitor, how does this work and needs to be setup?
    Do I have setup a email account in the Server to use this feature or do I just enter the following fields:
    From:
    To:
    and the server does the rest, which I can't believe. :?
    Thanks for any help!

    I believe the answer is yes: you do not need an email account set up for the notifications to be sent out, and they will come from whatever email domain you specify in the "From:" field.

  • Server Monitor - XServe G5 with OS X 10.4.10 client

    Hello,
    We run here multiple XServe G5. When purchased, they came with OS X Server 10.3.x
    We have configured one of the servers with OS X 10.4.10 Client! because of some of the features of OS X 10.4.x. We are running newer versions of MySQL, PHP and Apache, as well as a third-party FTP server, and didn't want to be bothered with buying and extra license of OS X Server 10.4, now that 10.5 is around the corner. Anyhow...
    The OS X 10.4 client does not implement the hardware monitoring System, Server Monitor. My understanding is that Server Monitor is a GUI front-end for hwmond and relies on 3 files:
    /usr/sbin/hwmond (Hardware Monitor Daemon)
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.hwmond.plist
    /System/Library/ServerSetup/SetupExtras/hwmondSetup
    I have copied these files from another XServe G5 (this one running the real thing, i.e. OS X Server 10.4.10) to the respective locations on our XServe with OS X client. I have restarted the server, but things didn't work out.
    What did I miss?
    Thanks for anyone who can help

    You can still use iCloud eMail though, if that helps...
    I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
    You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
    iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
    On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.

    • Server name: imap.mail.me.com

  • Server Monitor Notifications - Drive Status Changed - Time Machine

    I'm using an Xserve as a file server for a small workgroup . It has a Raid 1 set which is being backed up via Time Machine to an attached disk array.
    Whenever Time Machine runs (every hour), I get two notifications from Server Monitor that the drive status has changed:
    *Reason(s) for notification:*
    *Drive status changed*
    The timestamps on the notifications coincide with these messages in system.log
    Feb 2 11:28:05 ciesaxserve2 Server Monitor[854]: * _NSSocket.m:243 read() failed; socket=0x197060 error=(NSPOSIXErrorDomain,61)
    Feb 2 11:28:05 ciesaxserve2 Server Monitor[854]: * _NSSocket.m:243 write() failed; socket=0x197060 error=(NSPOSIXErrorDomain,61)
    Feb 2 11:28:05 ciesaxserve2 Server Monitor[854]: * _NSSocket.m:243 read() failed; socket=0x2090e90 error=(NSPOSIXErrorDomain,61)
    Feb 2 11:28:05 ciesaxserve2 Server Monitor[854]: * _NSSocket.m:243 write() failed; socket=0x2090e90 error=(NSPOSIXErrorDomain,61)
    and:
    Feb 2 11:28:55 ciesaxserve2 servermgrd[78]: servermgr_backup: TimeMachinePostBackupHook called.
    Feb 2 11:28:55 ciesaxserve2 servermgrd[78]: servermgr_backup: TimeMachinePostBackupHook done.
    The notifications simply report that all is normal, and the number of available drives goes from 6, to 7, back to 6. Something to do with making the backup volume available, I presume.
    I would like to disable these specific messages. I realize I can disable all messages from server monitor regarding disk statuses, but then I would be turning off messages about failures and actual problems.
    Is there a config I can edit which will only alert me to actual problems? I'd like to stop getting 48 emails each day; reduce the noise and increase the signal.

    I know this post is old but this has recently cropped up for me. I have been backing up with Time Machine for months without a single alert. It started happening after I replaced the failed battery on my RAID card. A coincidence...however the prolonged down time surely caused an SMC (and perhaps PRAM) reset which I assume triggered the change in behavior.
    I've pinned it down to Time Machine backing up service settings, in particular the Open Directory archive. Time Machine backs up all the service data independently from the rest of the data on your server startup volume.

    If you take a look inside the openDirectory folder you should see this:
    serveradmin$ cd openDirectory
    serveradmin$ ls -al
    total 81936
    drwxr-xr-x@  4 root  admin       136  4 Jun 15:32 .
    drwxr-xr-x@ 14 root  admin       476  4 Jun 15:33 ..
    -rw-rw----@  1 root  admin  41947136  4 Jun 15:32 ServerBackup_OpenDirectoryMaster.sparseimage
    -rw-r--r--@  1 root  admin       249  4 Jun 15:32 openDirectory.browse.plist
    The ServerBackup_OpenDirectoryMaster.sparseimage contains an archive of your Open Directory database like the one you create from Server Admin. The only difference is that it appears to be unencrypted. This is a bit worrying since Snow Leopard, as far as I know, does not have an option to encrypt your Time Machine backup. This image seems to invisibly mount whenever a Time Machine backup is triggered. This can be verified by checking /private/var/log/system.log and filtering for backup
    serveradmin$ tail -b 100 /var/log/system.log | grep backup

    You can see at 16:00:56 Server Manager got a call from Time Machine to start the services backup and finished at 16:09:26. Open Directory would have been backed up during that process. Take a look at /private/var/log/hwmond.log
    serveradmin$ tail /private/var/log/hwmond.log
    Tue Jun  4 16:08:36 BST 2013 - Number of drives change from 4 to 5.
    Tue Jun  4 16:08:48 BST 2013 - Number of drives change from 5 to 4.
    You'll see that both drive change warnings from Server Monitor occured just before the services backup completed. You can also use the sudo diskarbitrationd -d command along with tail /private/var/log/diskarbitrationd.log in another terminal window, trigger a Time Machine backup manually and watch this disk image mount during the backup process. Compare the mount times with the above logs to see if they all match up.
    Although I have discovered the cause (which thankfully seems harmless) I have not discovered a way to stop it from generating pointless alerts. I'll post here if I figure it out. I am in the process of upgrading all of my servers to Mountain Lion so it may be a moot point. I am hopeful this information may help someone out there even though it is thoroughly out of date.

  • Ports for LOM and Server Monitor?

    I have an Xserve setup behind a firewall (local IP), and I'm trying to access LOM and Server Monitor from outside of the network .... which ports should I forward to the Xserve?
    google comes up semi-empty :P
    Thanks!

    The entry for port 623 says "Used by Intel Xserves' Lights-Out-Monitoring (LOM) feature; used by Server Monitor". Server Admin uses port 311; it's possible Server Monitor may also use that port for some functions, though I'm not sure.
    Regards.

  • CF8 Server Monitor over secure connection?

    Hi,
    Has anyone out there been able to get the CF8 Server Monitor
    to work over a secure "HTTPS" connection?
    It doesn't work for me. I get an error message, "ColdFusion
    Server is unavailable."
    Thanks.

    Yes, Server monitor works on https also.
    Are you able to access your CF admin through the https?
    ex:
    https://localhost:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm

  • Unable to log onto any Lync Client: The server is temporarily unavailable

    Lync Server 2013 Standard --> Internal Only Installation
    --> First time testing a Lync Client after Install

    Summary of the Problem:
    Lync Client Error: The server is temporarily unavailable
    Lync Enviroment: Single server, the Internal AD domain is a different name then the SIP domain
    Testing the Issue:
    Manually configure a client using 'SipPoolName:5061'
    NSLookup --> set type=srv --> _sipinternaltls._tcp.MyInternalDomain.Local
    NSLookup LyncServerFQDN.MyInternalDomain.Local
    Telnet LyncServerFQDN.MyInternalDomain.Local 5061  (On a Client)
    NetStat –an = 5061 (On Lync Server)
    Resolution:
    Create a new DNS Zone for SipDomain.com
    Create a DNS A record "sip.SipDomain.com" which resolves to the Lync server IP address
    Create a SRV record in the new zone with the following:
    Service = _sipinternaltls
    Protocol = _tcp
    Port Number = 5061
    Host offering this service = sip.SipDomain.com
    Note: You may require to add A Records to the new zone if the SIP domain is also the external domain name (Examples: OWA, WWW,)
    DNS Internal Requirements: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398758.aspx
