Fetch Insert / Update Query From Table Trigger

Hi everyone !,
I have a situation, is there any way where I can get insert/update query by before-insert / after insert trigger when a user inserts/updates any row in the table.
Plz....help me....champs.....

That was a nice thing but it works only on some oracle 9i with DML statements.
On database versions 9.2.0.1 to 9.2.0.6 ora_sql_text works and returns the calling text for dml triggers, where as starting from 9.2.0.7 the behavior has changed and returns NULL.
Cause
This issue had surfaced from 9.2.0.7.0 patchset. After discussions in Bug 4171597 which was closed as a duplicate of Bug 4230721 it was concluded that it was the expected behavior i.e ORA_SQL_TXT should return null when dml triggers are used.
ORA_SQL_TXT is a "System defined event attribute" and is supposed to work only with "System triggers". This is also what the Documentation says - "Application Developers Guide : Fundamentals(9.2)

I can insert/update data into table_new by command line.
But I can not Insert/update data of table_new by SI Oject Browser tool or Oracle SQL Developer tool .(read only)
Anybody tell me, what's happend? cause?

I can insert/update data into table_new by command line.

Get the list of table's last Inserted/Updated date from a database

Good afternoon!
Please help me to find the last inserted/updated date from different tables in a database.
Consider I have a database called testDB, which contains 20 tables. Most of these tables will get data inserted/updated daily. But sometimes it may not happen due to some issues . We will not be knowing about this issue until we check in each table
manually. Now, somebody should be daily checking for the issues in this db. So, we have decided to make an alert mail to send this informations to us.
We need to check whether any of the table's in TetsDB has got inserted/updated data in one day difference.
I have tried this..
SELECT OBJECT_NAME(OBJECT_ID) AS Object_, last_user_update,*
FROM sys.dm_db_index_usage_stats

The solution depends on the version and edition of your SQL Server.

you can use Change Tracking, but Change tracking captures the fact that rows in a table were changed, but does not capture the data that was changed.

We need to track the data daily and we need to know whether any modification happens in those tables.
Will it make any performance issue if I enable change data capturing on multiple tables.. lets say 20+ tables.?

The easiest way to do this is along the following lines..
(1) register an XML Schema that describes the XML you wish to process with theh database.
(2). create a relational view for the top level elements and for each repeating element (element where maxOccurs > 1 in the XML Schema)
(3) Use 'insert as select' or other SQL type processing to update your relational tables from the contents of the view
It is normally recommended that you add the following annotations to the XML Schema before registering it with the database
(1) At the schema level set xdb:storeVarrayAsTable="true".
(2) At the complexType level set xdb:maintainDOM="fasle".
If you search the forum you will find a lot of examples of creating relational views of XML content stored in the XML database. Typically these examples will include key words like 'create or replace view' and 'table(xmlsequence(extract' or 'xmltable'.

UPDATE dbtable FROM TABLE itab.
For the above statement, if there are entries in itab that do not have primary key in dbtable, then are they created in the dbtable or ignored.
if they are ignored, how would i know which are ignored. or how to insert those ignored lines into the dbtable.

MODIFY will update current records and create ones that do not exists. Not sure about UPDATE as I never use it.

If you create a Partner link that polls a table and then create a receive activity that uses the partner link the variable in the receive activity will contain the data from the table.

I would like to create an attendance page to record student's attendance on a particular dates.
I have 2 tables - students and attendance tables; in which attendance table will consist of PK from students table and date.
How do I create a form that display all the students record in a page with checkbox and date column; and when user check the boxes and click save; it will insert record into attendance table? Thanks!

For this you can do the following
1. Create a Tabular Form on The STUDENT table, i.e. the table you are using as a Fecth only table
2. Make the ApplyMRU and ApplyDRD process conditions Never so they will not be executed
3. Write your own custom process to write the checked rows into Attendence Table.
In the process you will have to refer to the checkbox f+nn+ item using APEX_APPLICATION.G_F+nn+ array and write from similar arrays for the other tabular form items

Updating Sybase from Oracle trigger

Hi
I have 2 databases: Oracle 8i and Sybase, both with a identical schema (same tables).
An app will be updating the Oracle database, and I would like that automatically the Sybase database be updated accordingly, to keep them synchronized.
I am thinking about using java stored procedures and JDBC to access Sybase, that would be called from triggers. Is this possible? Where could I find some examples?

How to update/query informix table for every update/query on Oracle table

We have a system that can talk to only Oracle.
Here, we have a certain program that updates an Oracle table thru a View of the Table. For every database operation on Oracle table View, we want to update a corresponding table in Informix database.
Similarly for every query on the View of oracle table we want to query informix database and fetch the records from there.
We want to use Oracle as a medium to access Informix.
Can some one help me on how to do this ?

You can use the Transparent Gateway for Informix to access Informix from an Oracle environment. The gateway makes the Informix database look like a remote Oracle database.

You can use CASE staement any place where an expression is expected.
For example, in:
UPDATE table_a
SET     col1 = exp1
,       col2 = exp2
WHERE   exp3 = exp4;all the expressions are labled lke expn.
Note that table_a, col1 and col2 are not expressions: you must hard-code these names, or use dynamic SQL.
So it's okay to say:
UPDATE table_a
SET     col1 = CASE
                   WHEN db = 'development' THEN 0
                   WHEN db = 'staging'      THEN 1
               END
,       col2 = CASE
                   WHEN db = 'development' THEN NULL
                   WHEN db = 'staging'      THEN col2
               END
WHERE   db != 'production';In this example:
in the development database, col1 is set to 0 and col2 is set to NULL
in the staging database, col1 is set to 1 and col2 is unchanged (that is, set to what it already was)
in the production database, nothing is changed (the WHERE condition is always FALSE)

For Update Query from ORACLE Forms

We are using Oracle Forms 10g running with 10g database 10.2.0.1.0. We happend to see a query which is getting generated in AWR report like Select rowid, all_columns from TableName for Update of C1 Nowait. But no such query is really written in forms and we are aware that, Any query prefixed with rowid is definitely executing from Forms. But how the ForUpdate and Nowait clause is appended to the query.
We have checked the following properties in the database Block
*1) Locking Mode is set to Automatic*
*2) Update Changed Columns only is set to YES*
*3) Query all records is set to No (Though this particular property may not be relevant to the issue)*
What is the property or setting which might trigger such a query from ORACLE Forms with ForUpdate and Nowait clause.
Any ideas/suggestions on why such behaviour. Please have a healthy discussion on this. Thanks in advance.

you can't dynamically add a query to the data model in reports.
You should look into the XML based customization of Oracle Reports. This will enable you to define a report dynamically by creating a definition in XML.
Also another option is to have the report with a query in it and use lexical parameters in reports to pass the query definition or just the where part of it.
Look at the reports online help for both of these solutions.

An interface is an intermediate set of procedures/functions that do the job for you.
You haven't explained what it is you're trying to achieve exactly, but here's an example scenario.
We don't want to allow our developers to query, or write to the tables directly so they are set up with certain database users that have no permissions granted on the tables for such things.
Instead they have been granted permission to call procedures and functions belonging to another schema, and it is those procedures and functions that do the required table access and/or pass information/data back or write to the tables.
The developers have to write their applications to call these procedures to do any access to the tables. This means that they are limited to the functionality provided by these interface procedures so, if there is internal auditing or columns of data etc. on the tables then it may be that they can't access this data, but only the "user facing" data.
The interface can also ensure that data meets certain requirements before being written to tables, allowing for business or technical level restrictions to be implemented.

Help with a update query from a subquery

I wanted to see if someone can help me with an update query.
I need to grab a latitude & longitude from a the same user that is in two accounts. therefore i am trying to update lat/long in a users table for one account based off of the same user in another account. I am matching the users up by phone number and last name. I tried a subquery but am having difficulty.
I was thinking of something like the following:
update users
set lat = getlat, long = getlong
inner join (select lat as getlat, long as get long from users where account_id = '1')
on phone = phone and last name = lastname
where account_id = '2' and lat IS NULL and long IS NULL
Am I going in the right direction???

What difficulty are you having? Have you tried what you posted and get an error?
