FF 22 completely breaks Flash

The new FF 22 dpi scaling breaks Flash programs (at least the ones that have "noScale" set in Flash).
The problem is that I have this in the HTML (generated by swfobject.js): <object data="main.swf" name="flashContent" id="flashContent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="576" width="1024"><param value="noscale" name="scale"><param value="t" name="salign">
When I trace the Flash program it says: "3.202: MainView: setup: stageW = 1280, stageH = 720"
FF has changed 1024 and 576 to 1280 and 720. The stage size is used by the flash program is used to place objects accordingly in the Flash program. Now, if the Flash program doesn't have appropriate, scalable assets, the layout in Flash program is totally messed up.
Flash has its own scaling mechanisms and this change is a real problem for the "noScale" mode because it is not passing the information correctly from the HTML to the Flash program.
I wouldn't mind if FF scaled the entire Flash window, but changing the parameters passed in not the right way to do it.

  • How can I replace the Portal with completely new Flash website?

Can I replace the Portal with completely new Flash website? My customer do not want the JSP UI. Instead, he wants a completely new designed Flash site. Is it possible to do it? How can I deploy a new portal to cover the current one?

If you have a look at some of the code examples which do the equivalent of site maps, you could in theory replace the whole portal desktop with some sort of Flash framework which reads the user's role structure at run time.
I think it is useful to remember that the SAP portal is primarily a business application launchpad. It does that very well. Trying to make it into a Flash launchpad will be challenging.

  • Completely random Flash CS3 crashes

This is absolutely driving me nuts. I'm experiencing what is
essentially completely random crashes. As far as I can tell, they
have only been occuring since I installed the Flash CS3 AIR
    extension.
This only seems to happen after I've been working for a
number of hours. I use CTRL-Enter to build, the Expoprting Flash
Movie Prompt appears, my CPU goes to MAX and the software halts. I
can still ALT-Tab to other programs, but doing anything in Flash is
no longer possible - meaning unsaved work is destroyed.
The SWF is NOT built on the crash. I can grab the last built
SWF and what I'ev been doing is Sothink Decompiling it and
rebuilding my actionscript from where I left off.
I first noticed it only on my work computer, and it was soon
after upgrading the AIR extension (through the built-in updater). I
was not getting at home until after the updated as well (completely
    different Flash CS3 license).
I'm not sure how else to explain it. If anyone can help -
please do. I'm starting to save as often as possible, but
sometimes...when you're in that groove...that's always when it
happens. You know, after you haven't swaved for two hours...

OK the problem isn't the DUAL Monitors, but rather having a
custom workspace open while trying to close Flash. I have to change
the workspace back to Default or it will not close at all. Any
    ideas.

  • Firefox 34 Breaks Flash Player

I have Flash Player 11.2.202.424 installed and it has been working perfectly. However, upgrading from Firefox 33 to 34 breaks Flash Player. It is still enabled according to about:plugins, but the test page http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ no longer works and YouTube videos are now black boxes. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

My solution is to stop using Firefox until Firefox finds a fix for this problem.

  • Trying to install Flash 11.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.8. Install completes but Flash does not work - any help?

Hi, I was told I didn't have Flash 7 when trying to see something online (which I am sure was incorrent to begin with) so I followed the provided link to download Flash version 11.5. The download completed without problems but Flash doesn't seem to work at all. I have uninstalled, reinstalled and restarted. I don't know what to try next, any help would be much appreciated!

    Start here;

Also, never, never follow links for flash, codecs or plug-ins of any kind from websites that throw up these warnings - there's a high chance of the link being to a malware site.
Always go directly to the vendor.

  • How do I completely uninstall Flash 8 Pro & Flash 8 Video Encoder

I have Flash Pro 8 & Video Encoder 8 as well as Flash 10
on my Mac and want to completely uninstall, including preferences,
etc and reinstall. Can someone help me with the steps involved...
    Thanks!

You'll need to go back into Flash and build the links into the buttons before you create the swf's.  Look in the Flash help docs regarding the getURL function as far as the code you'll need for linking.  If you have problems, post in the Flash AS1 and AS2 forum.
Beyond that, don't be surprised if some feedback arises here regarding using Flash buttons.

  • Flash 10 breaks Flash 8 Content

I have a Flash 8 set of movies originally developed in CS3, we recently updated most all computers to Flash 10. Without touching the content it stopped working correctly in one perculiar spot. Going to a computer with Flash 8 installed it works fine.
In this case I have a base movie that loads 22 different SWFs depending on button clicks on the base movie. The loadable SWFs simply have a Play() and Stop() AS2 code in them, no other ActionScript, although there is audio, text and animation in the movies. One of the 22 slides loads and plays about 5 seconds of the timeline, then halts everytime. All other movies in the set play properly end to end. Size is not an issue either since this one is middle of the road for the entire 22 at only 528K.
As I said the content has not been touched since originally produced, the only variable I can identify is the upgrade to Flash 10. I did think maybe something in the company deployment of 10 might cause it, but my 3 personal computers do the very same thing and I have even setup a clean Virtual PC with the same results.
Any ideas of what might be casuing this issue?

There have been some recent changes to the security policies implemented in Flash Player 10. Maybe you can review since you are loading external SWF files:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer10_security_changes_02.html
Aside from security, not sure but you might try breaking down the presentation to just the problem SWF loading and see how it behaves.
Also you might want to make sure your audio on that slide is set to streaming or maybe the audio only plays once and the file stops because of no instructions.
In addition sometimes the Flash Player does not install properly into the browser. I had this experience and Adobe now has a flash player uninstaller that worked good for me. Make sure you reboot after reinstalling.

  • Help - 48 hrs to complete my Flash project [not much applied experience]

I'm looking for any kind of insight or advice possible, as this could be my job at stake.
I have some previous Flash and Dreamweaver training, I can figure out the programming aspect if needed, and am a long-time experienced graphic artist with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I have the Adobe Design Premium CS4 package.
**I've been asked to complete a project by Wed, close of business for a Flash presentation...which I'm quite rusty with (taken some courses a few back and tried various aspects out with the software). I've paid for and downloaded some Flash Web Templates, hoping to save time, and wondering I might be able to use the web templates to create the following requested:
    1) a Flash presentation that can loop on a TV screen
    2) have the same Flash presentation with navigation on a DVD, but will include additional documentation that can be obtainable by clicking through the navigation, etc.
If I need to clarify, please let me know. I've been asked to complete this as I have quite a bit of experience with graphics, but seriously rusty with the Flash portion.
Any suggestions?? I'd be incredibly grateful!
    Thank you!

Your idea so great, just not sure how to go about it.
I purchased templates from www.bigbangtemplates.com and was hoping I could edit at least one of those to save time, as I haven't used actionscript, other than testing a few simple things out and have book available.  I was hoping some of the obvious navigation would already be in place and I could replace pieces, etc.
I have or can quickly create some supporing graphics for my visuals, but need to focus on a visual that show's the company, it's five or so areas of interest, some kind of narrowing in on each one with some more text, back to the menu, on to the next one, etc.  That's just a rough guess.
I also purchased some video backgrounds, if that helps for flair, without beeing cheezy. :-/
Just wondering if this is more or less a joke to be able to accomplish this and if this is going to be a task beyond the rusty beginner? If so, I think I need to just shoot myself. Thanks for the assist!

  • New IE7 Install breaks Flash!! HELP

I have IE7 installed on several XP and Vista machines at
home, and everything was generally fine.
This weekend I updated one WinXP SP2 machine to IE7 using new
    standalone installer.
This broke flash in IE7. I tried EVERYTHING. Complete
Uninstall of Flash, Reset of IE settings, Manual and Automatic
    install of Flash.
There are no errors during Install (either through getFlash
page, or standalone installer), AND Flash works fine in Firefox and
Opera on the same PC in the same account.
Furthermore, I tried Microsoft's own Silverlight, and that
    works FINE also.
But flash still broken. I get big F letter (and a progress
bar) on adobe's Flash install page, then it continues onto flash
page. a box where flash should be comes up Empty, stays up for a
bit, then collapses into tiny box, no errors though. I tried other
Flash sites, all say 'You need to install Flash'. I even tried
'Skip detection' sites, but flash still fails after skipping.
    Please help!
This is my kids PC, and when they can't play their WebKinz,
our household is in BIG trouble! ;-)

here is the solution to this..
    1. download the flash uninstaller from
    Here
    2. open regedit.exe (watch out.. you are now treading in
    sensitive territory)
    3. In HKLM/Software delete the Macromedia Key
    4. In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia remove the Flash
Key of you already have shockwave installed.
Now install the flash player... it should work

  • Calling a .js file upon completion of Flash Video

I have a challenge whose solution has avoided us. Maybe you
    can help.
I’ll try to be succinct so as to not take up too much
    of anyone's time.
    1. I’m using CS3, but ActionScript2 for videos we have
    uploaded to our website.
    2. We are using AS2 because we want to target FlashPlayer 7
    3. We want our entire video to play before the
“Next” button on our html page is enabled
    4. Could you, would you, send to me the AS code that would
enable the flash video file to communicate with our .js script
    5. And if you could do that, please also indicate where and
how it is inserted into the flash application?
    6. I’m fairly new at flash and we are having an
unsuccessful time at having the AS2 code talk to our .js code.
It would be very much appreciated.
    [email protected]

check out "externalInterface" for communication between .js
and as. Its very nice :)
For the event (video completion) you can pull in the metadata
from the .flv check out David Stiller's lil' tutorial...
    http://www.quip.net/blog/2006/flash/how-to-control-flv-without-component/
and lookup onMetaData (just google it).
Between externalInterface, normal video controls (Stiller's
blog), and FLV.onMetaData, you can accomplish what you're hoping :)
And if you can write js, you'll be able to write this. Lemme know
    if this helps.

  • Complete a Flash Question widget

Using the "Question" widget I can develop scored interactions in Flash and embed them in Captivate, and it's really neat. There's just one thing that seems to be completely missing in the documentation or the code comments of the template.
    There is this function:
    function answersIncomplete(mustAnswerAll:Boolean):Boolean {
    return false;
Which is fine. You set true if you want to make sure the user completes the interaction, but what's missing is this: how do you tell captivate when the user has completed the interaction? Somewhere in my AS2 code I need to call a function or set a variable after the user does what I've asked them to do so the submit buttone will evaluate their input. Does anybody understand what I'm asking and know how to do it?

Thanks, I finally put the pieces together. So it's clear to anyone else who stumbles across this, I'll paste it in.
    This is the default code:
    function answersIncomplete(mustAnswerAll:Boolean):Boolean {
return true; ///false; //to force the user to answer completely
I understood this to just set whether or not the user needs to complete all the questions, but you can also use it to verify they have done so. I assigned the value of their decision to the variable my_answer, and changed the Boolean to a conditional:
    function answersIncomplete(mustAnswerAll:Boolean):Boolean {
          return (my_answer == undefined);
It works! The user has to make a decision to continue, and is allowed to once they do.
    Thanks,
    - Kurtis

  • Update to Acrobat 9.5.1 breaks Flash functionality for reading archived emails

On installing update 9.5.1 to Acrobat Pro on WinXP, I can no longer read the index of previously archived email collections created using the Email to PDF macro in Outlook 2007.
The PDF data file indices were readable before, and are still readable in Acrobat X Reader.  Hence the data file content seems to be correct.
I get the error message as below and then on Cancel (as the download page does not work) I can only see the first email in the collection as a two pgae PDF, which is limited to say the least.
Please advise how I should restore the functionality I had prior to this upgrade.

Yes, as I said in my original post.the link to the download page did not work.  Also as Acrobat X Reader worked (on the same computer), then the required Flash software was already somewhere on my computer
However, this issue has now been resolved by applying the recent update from Acrobat Pro v.9.5.1 to v.9.5.2, reopening the PDF portfolio and following the link in the new dialog box that appeared, to go to the correct Adobe(R) webpage to download and install the Flash Software update.  This latest webpage has a date of this month (August 2012).
As of v.9.5.2 this problem is solved.

  • Browser 'back' button breaks flash file (firefox)

    Hey!
I've run into a frustrating problem. I've created a web app for a customer (link here), but whenever I leave the page using one of the map pins and try to return using the back button - the map pins become unresponsive and the hover-state freezes. If I reload the page it works again.
I've only encountered this problem in Firefox, and I believe that it's got something to do with the firefox focus. If I click outside the flash movie, deselecting the flash selection box - the buttons become responsive again.
    I've tried looking through the FAQ and it seems as if I've got the exact same problem as these users;
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4014321
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4121173#4121173
There's a messy workaround using jquery to select another object on page reload but that doesn't look very professional, my customer's also supposed to integrate the .swf with a cms and I'm not sure if I can get it to work.
I use Firefox 15.0.1 and Flash Player 11.4
Any pointers would be very appreciated
    - Johan

FF 15.0.1 with the latest FP installed and my back button works perfectly fine. The pins do not require me to reload the page to work.
It's not uncommon for a browser to require a plugin like flash to be "activated" for focus. Click doesn't typically suffer from this (and isn't for me). Keyboard however, well that makes sense. The ability to auto-activate and steal keyboard focus would introduce usability and security issues.

  • Vista SP2 x64 completely breaks DTS/DDL decoder

My X-Fi Elite Pro was running the DDL/DTS pack that I purchased just wonderfully until I updated Vista to SP2 x64. After the update, the encoder dissappeared completely from the console launcher. An attempt to re-install the pack throws a coded error message.
$6 license only bought me 3 months of use....money down the drain?
Are we going to get a fix for this soon or have to wait a good long while again for DTS/DDL support?
This does nothing but make me nauseous. Looks like a trip back to the future of SP................................................ ..............................................

After installing Vista sp2, on a system already running sp Vista64, I had to reinstall the Daniel K. driver pack. This fixed me up just fine. I believe the sp2 update may disturb the sound stack in Vista. A removal and reinstall of Dan K.'s Driver pack should fix the issue. I am running this:

Plus the newest Creative Labs driver on top of it all.
