Fieldbus Foundation Interoperability with NI as LAS

Hello,
I use NI-FBUS V3.1.1 with a Softing FG100FF/M Modbus/TCP to FF Gateway.
When the FBUS Interface is the LAS, I periodically get the Substatus "FaultStateActive" in Final Value of the DO and AO Transducer Blocks of the Softing Device.
When the Softing Device is the LAS, the communication works fine.
Using the "Optimizing" Function in the FBUS Configuratior changes the period of the "FaultStateActive" messages, but doesent prevent them from occurring.
Does anybody have an idea, what the reason for this problem might be?
Thanks,
Berni

It is interesting that you are using NI-FBUS Configurator with Softing FG100FF/M linking device; I only know the Configurator works well with Softing FG-100 FF/HSE linking device.
You mentioned you set the FBUS interface as LAS, do you mean you have NI PCMCIA or PCI interface card connected to the FF H1 segment?
If so, please make sure the Softing LD (or other FF host device) is not connected to the same H1 segment; or you can set the NI interface device as Basic Device to avoid LAS conflict with Softing linking device. Normally the linking device should be set as LAS in the FF H1 segment.
If not, can you explain how did you connect Configurator and Softing FG-100 FF/M linking device? Did you connect them through Ethernet, or you have Configurator running with NI interface card and just connected the interface card with Softing linking device together?

    Hii,
I am building a client for the WCF service using Soap1.2 and ws-security. I have tried building a stub for the service using JDeveloper 10 g and also tried to validate the wsdl using XML spy. Both are giving errors. I wanna know how could i genrate the stub for the service and also Validate WSDL? I know i might have to modify the WSDL, but dont know what changes must be required? And Also which std i must adhere?

I HAVE A MAC NETWORK WITH A HP1200 LASER-JET AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE.  THE PRINTER IS CONNECTED DIRECTLY WITH ONE OF MY MAC-MINI"S.  I NOW HAVE A WINDOWS BASED PC AND WOULD LIKE TO PRINT TO IT AS WELL.. HOW CAN I DO THIS?

Make sure that you Printer Sharing enabled on the Mac Mini.   System Preferences > Sharing > Printer Sharing
Do the same on the PC
On the PC, try downloading and installing Bonjour Print Services for Windows v2.0.2
Run the application on the PC to see if it will discover your printer and install the printer.

I want to use my jetpack 890L as a wireless router to enable wireless printing with a canon laser printer. Is this possible, and does the jetpack support WPS?

I’ve used several wireless printers with a 4510 and 5510 Jetpack and they all print just fine. The MHS890L does not support WPS. The WPS Wikipedia article briefly addresses the reason why you should not use WPS.  If you’re having trouble setting up your printer the manufacturer has a toll free support line to help you. Your Jetpack has the Wi-Fi Password on the bottom, under the battery, and or in the LED display.

  • Printing issue with a HP Laser Jet 1012

I am unable to print to my laser jet from any application. If I restart the printer, I can print once, but then I am unable to print anything else unless I restart again.
When the QUE dialogue box appears, it says "Printing ‘Microsoft Word - Reserved.doc’. Below that it says "Opening printer connection". In the que box below (blue/white striped box) the status says printing, but nothing is printing. Eventually it will say stopped and where it used to say "Printing ‘Microsoft Word - Reserved.doc’. it will just say "Printer Ready".
When I click on the printer utility, my printer is not listed. And when I try to add it, the computer can not find it. Not sure if that is part of the problem.
    Thanks!

    Hi
I have a bit of the same problem. Many times the printer will print, but the output is gibberish to me. The older driver under Tiger gave me better choices to save toner. On ECONO I was able to get more than double the output of as stated in the guidelines from HP [2500 copies] I got +- 7,000.
They shouldn't have messed with a good thing, the drivers, as they worked great before.
The printer was not recognized automatically, and I have to reinstall Leopard [clean install each time] for a third time.
This will probably be my last upgrade.
    Best, to all!

  • Is LC Foundation bundled with LiveCycle Data Services

I recently got this question - Do I get LC Workbench and LC Foundation when I buy LiveCycle Data Services?
    The answer is "No".
With LiveCycle Data Services you get:
    1.       LiveCycle Data Services server - It works with most application server, but ship with a tomcat based turnkey option
    2.       Adobe Application Modeling Plugin - This is a plugin to Flash Builder 4 that enables to do Model Driven Development of Flex applications. This is "New in 3.0"

    Hi Guillaume,
there is no limitation. Dynamic PDF files can be generated with Livecycle Data Services.
You should have a look at the XML file generated by your Flex code. Try to save it and see how the XML file behaves when you generate a PDF preview with Designer. You can go to the menu:  File >  Properties > Preview > Use XML test data...
With the XFAHelper class, you can either load a PDF or a XDP file. Have you tried with a XDP ?
I've attached a dynamic PDF file that I've created for a customer. I generate a dynamic PDF file using LiveCycle Data Services. Maybe you'll find some clues within the file.

  • VTP3 interoperability with VTP2 in the same domain

I'm trying to determine the best way to implement extended vlans in a network where all of the devices will not immediately support
vtp3.  We do not need extended vlans campus wide, but only on the head of stack device in each closet of each building. These head of
stack switches will be 3850's used as wireless access controllers.  The extended vlans will be for the building wireless networks.
(the purchase of a 5760 is deferred until next year, so this is an interim wireless configuration). The majority of the switches in
the network are vtp2 capable, but all are running in vtp1 mode because of a handful (maybe 5) that are vtp 1 only capable.  These
5 will be removed from the network in the near future.
The VTP3 docs seem counterdictory.  They seem to imply that VTP3 and VTP2 are interoperable, and that
vtp 2 switches will accept configuration changes from a vtp 3 primary server. (I know the reverse is not true and do not need that). But then the same doc explicitly states that all devices in the same domain have to run the same vtp version.  So which is true?  Can the core switch and
the connecting 3850's run vtp3 with the extended vlan ranges, while the rest of the network switches remain at version 2, with the
version 2 switches able to accept configuration changes for vlans 1-1005 from the version 3 primary vtp switch?  Also, if the vtp
version 2 core switch is converted to vtp3, will the configuration version be reset to 0? If  vtp version 2 and 3 are not interoperable as just described, then how do we get the extended range higher number vlans in the network?
Would vtp transparent be an option?  But then wouldn't the core switch, as well as the rest of the switches in the network, have to
be configured as transparent as well? And if the core switch (a 6509E running 12.2(17r)SX7) is converted from vtp 2 to transparent,
will it retain the existing version 2 vlan database, or will all of the vlans need to be reconfigured on the switch?
What is the best way to implement extended vlans in the situation?
Please ask questions if you need more information to respond.

Will, did you find a solution for the above then?

  • IM Container Tag Problem with OKI C9500DN Laser Printer

Labels printed have 10" length and 4" heigth instead of normal size.
Using USPS Tray Laser 2 IM 24-digit.ltd.
Printer driver problem or PostalSoft problem?

That design should print 10 labels on a page, two across and five down.  As far as margins the top and bottom margins are both .5 inches and the left and right margins are both 1 inch.  So what you are seeing is a single label that is 10" x 4" or the 10 labels fit within an area of 10" x 4"?  I don't have any experience with that specific printer but I know that design prints fine on several different HP laser printers.  It looks like that is an Led printer, but I don't see that really being the issue...  One thing I can think of checking is to make sure that the driver doesn't have some kind of zoom setting which is causing the issue.  You would want it to print at 100%.  Other than that I can't think of anything else to check without knowing more about what the output you are seeing looks like.  Have you tried any other designs to see if they have similar issues?  Are you able to get the output you expect when using other programs?

  • Interoperability with another IDE?

Are you using another IDE like IntelliJ IDEA besides Workshop?
How did you make them interoperate?
    Can you share your experiences?

    Absolutely...
Consider the following java project scenario:
MyApp contains a java project MyJavaProject
Where does the output of this go? Where are the compiled classes? To
interoperate with another IDE, the other IDE needs to know the output path.
It would be very nice to have Workshop and the other IDE point to same
output path. I know that the jar goes in the Libraries directory...
Consider the following web project scenario:
    MyApp contains MyWebApp
MyWebApp has WEB-INF which has src directory. With the split development
model the classes go in .workshop\output\MyWebApp. Okay, now it is possible
for the other IDE to use the same output path of .workshop\output\MyWebApp
Consider the following ejb project scenario:
    MyApp contains MyEJBApp
Again where does the output go?
    Ideally, how would interoperability work?
We can edit artifacts in workshop. We can edit artifacts in another IDE.
We can compile in workshop. We can compile in another IDE. That means the
output paths are well-known. The generated artifacts like Home and Business
    interfaces are easily accessible.

  • Problem with Brother 2170 laser

Hello - I have a brother 2170 laser that was connected via the network. I needed the port and decided to connect via usb. deleted the old printer, used new diver for USB. Printer installed fine - the comm utility shows printer is ready but every time I try to print, the printer shows offline. I loaded the driver on a Widows notebook and everything worked fine so I know the printer is ok.
I have tried deleting the printer, running repair permissions, reinstalling the driver and same results. Any advice?

I spoke with a most helpful tech at Brother. The exercise as described on Brother's web site to flash the firmware in the printer does not always work properly.
To check the version of the ROM in your printer press the "Go" button 3 times. The resulting test page will show the ROM version at the top. To work with 10.5.5 the CONT ROM needs to be version 1.12
As an alternative method for updating the ROM.
    1. Open System Preferences and remove the 2170 from printers and faxes
    2. Get Brother tech support to send you the firmware by email (or try http://209.215.81.199/download/printer/HL2100/2170v112.blf )
    3. Move the downloaded firmware to your desktop
    4. Open a terminal window and type:
    a) cd desktop
    b) lpr -o raw 2170v112.blf (case sensitive) and press enter.
    c) The Go button will start blinking for 3 - 5 minutes. When the blinking is finished, the firmware has been updated.
    d) Press the GO button 3 times. The CONT. ROM version will be 1.12.
    5. Go back to system prefs/printers and faxes and DELETE the original version of the printer. The NEW version will say "...series-1", the OLD version will just have "...series". Keep the printer that has "-1".
My system is now printing fine.
(Note: the tech also said that you can say "Macintosh Software Support" to get routed to the correct group at Brother.)

  • SFP-10G-LRM interoperability with SFP-10G-LR

I previously included this in a more complicated query (“Interoperable ASR1000 XFP for SFP-10G-LRM ?”) that didn’t generate any responses, so here is the revised question:
Will a SFP-10G-LRM interoperate with a SFP-10G-LR if I connect using single mode fiber?
(Fiber length would not exceed 100 meters.)
Power and wavelength specifications for the two SFP+ modules seem to indicate that they would work together:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/data_sheet_c78-455693.html
I’m just concerned that there could be some protocol differences. Otherwise I’m not sure why there would be two different standards, i.e –LR and –LRM.
I checked the "definitive source for everything" and that didn’t clarify LR/LRM interoperability either:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10-gigabit_Ethernet
    Thanks.
    Phil

AFAIK they should interoperate over SM fiber distances in the range you noted. Protocol-wise the encoding is definitely interoperable. The concern is generally receiving light at optical power levels the receiver can translate into electrical signals faithfully (and of course transmitting at levels adequate for the distant end to do the same).

  • LabView TestStand interoperability with LabView runtime adapter

I would like to get some background information on how the interoperability of LabView and TestStand works.
We are using LabView steps mainly for some minor tasks in TestStand projects.
We do not use the regular deployment way as proposed by NI, but simply use one or more VI folders from which we reference LabView steps.
Deployment is done by copying the whole TestStand/LabView folder structure to the target machine.
We use the LabView runtime adapter within on our deployed systems.
We never mix LabView versions within one project.
Now, we frequently face the situation that the exact same project structure on two different machines has problems with the LabView steps.
So one changed VI runs on one target machine while the other after copy deployment is broken. Due to the same project structure and the virtual drives the paths must be the same.
A mass compile usually solves the situation.
So this is mystery number 1.
Today, I had the same problem, however I did not mass compile the full VI folder but simply some folders which I assumed had changed.
One VI which was referenced by TestStand was not mass compiled and was declared as broken by TestStand.
All I did was opening the broken VI in LabView Development System and nothing was obviously changed by LabView.
I closed the VI  and pressed the Reload VI button on the TestStand step and the VI was working again, however the sequence file now had changed somehow (* at file name).
    Another phenomenon:
An existing project on a machine was running with a certain user.
After switching the user, the VI steps of the project were suddenly broken.
    My questions?
    1) Why do VIs which run in the development system flawlessly  become broken in the runtime?
    2) Does the runtime use different search paths than the development system?
    3) What kind of information does the mass compilation produce and where is it stored.
    4) What kind of information does TestStand store along with the VI?
    5) Is there a way to diagnose the problem with the runtime adapter ? With the runtime adapter I cannot open the VI to see what is the problem and in the developer mode it works.

First, to clarify a few points:
    1) It is not necessary to use a workspace for TestStand deployments. You can specify a directory of source files for a TestStand deployment.
    2) TestStand licensing should not be affecting this issue in any way. TestStand licenses do not have any impact on LabVIEW VI execution in TestStand.
    Thorsten,
The issues you are describing are likely being caused by the LabVIEW VIs needing to be recompiled. The runtime engine is not able to recompile VIs, but the LabVIEW Dev System can, so this explains why you are able to execute again after opening the VIs in LabVIEW Dev. it also explains why a mass compile fixes the issue.
There are a variety of reasons why this could be happening. One scenario that could cause this to happen is that you make a change in one VI, but the change causes a second VI to need to be recompiled. This could cause a problem if you redeploy only the VI that you changed, because it will not be able to work properly unless the second VI is recompiled, which cannot be done by the LabVIEW RTE alone. This can happen because the LabVIEW compiler will optimize certain operations in the compiled code depending on where data is used--for example, the compiler will try to avoid allocating a copy of an array if it does not need to be accessed by multiple pieces of code at the same time. As you can imagine, this type of optimization might be appropriate for one version of your code, but might not be appropriate if a subVI changes such that it needs access to the array in parallel with the rest of the code.
The specific example I mentioned is called the Inplaceness Algorithm, and is described along with much more information about the LabVIEW compiler in this whitepaper. This might help explain the reasons a LabVIEW VI would need to be recompiled.
One potential solution to your problem that would allow you to keep your current deployment method would be to use packed project libraries (PPLs). You could have multiple PPLs for different parts of your code that you want to be able to update individually, which would allow you to make small changes to your codebase without having to deploy the entire set of code at once. A PPL is a self-contained set of compiled code that does not change, which should avoid the recompile issue from occurring.

  • Time Capsule 2TB interoperability with existing home network

Can I still use Time Machine backing up to my 2B Time capsule if it is LAN wired to a Netgear router?
I am using my Netgear router as the primary and wireless device.  I have my TimeCapsule Wired via a lan port.  I mostly want to use the time capsule for stoarage and time machine backups.  It would also be used for media storage.  I have been told adding it as a wireless bridge is very slow.
Thanks in advance for any experience/advice.

    For windows.
    1. Load in the appropiate airport utility.. even if you have latest TC, and cannot configure the unit. since apple is miles behind in windows utility as neither v6 utility nor win8 have been dealt with. (or perhaps they have.. poorly!!)
The utility includes a connection agent and bonjour for windows which helps loads.
    2. Make sure you use SMB compatbile names in the TC.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
    3. In windows explorer type into the address bar
\\TCname or \\TCIPaddress where you put in the actual name or IP.
If it doesn't respond turn off the windows firewires.. and maybe any security software you have.
Tell me if it still doesn't work.. also what version TC are you talking about.. Gen4 or Gen5??
