Fields missing in Designer 2010 workflow

I created few yes/No column through Association Columns in Designer but now the value is missing and my workflow crashes. i fixed it saved and published the workflow yesterday. when i opened the workflow this morning i see the same issue.
when i tried to modify i see this

Hi Madnan,
I tested the same scenario per your post and I got the same results as you got.
It seems that the association column is designed for reusable workflows, and if we use association columns in list workflows, the issue will occur.
In the .xoml file of the workflow, the reference of the associated column should be like the image1, however it will change to image2 in list workflow after refresh the workflow:
So the error occurs when we run the list workflow.
I recommend to use association column in reusable workflows instead of list workflows.

  • A book about SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflows?

    Hi everyone
Can anybody of you recommend me a book about SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflows?
    Thank you in advance

How about "Beginning SharePoint Designer 2010"? However, only two chapters are about workflows.

  • Additional Item Added to InfoPath Choice Field Missing from Designer

I have an InfoPath 2013 form submitting back to a SharePoint 2010 Forms library.  I had published the form, promoting the various fields, and everything was working properly.  I then needed to add an additional option to two different choice fields.
I added them in InfoPath, re-published the form and the options are available and selectable when I use the form.  They show up in the SharePoint forms library on submit.
I'm now building a workflow for this library and I'm trying to add a condition that uses the added item (Global) from one of the choice fields (Region).  It is not showing as an option.  I've refreshed the list and workflow in SP Designer.
I've re-published the form from InfoPath.  I've cleared the cache for SP Designer, InfoPath and Internet Explorer.  I have never had this happen before and have no idea how to fix.  Suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help!
Here is what is in the InfoPath form:
And here is what is in SharePoint Designer:

    Hi,
I have done a test. I can re-appear your issue.
    Refer to the following:
I published the form to SharePoint 2010 Forms library, the type of the Region column is a “single line of text”.
Then I automatically changed the type of the Region column to “choice” and added the options to the choice filed.
After add an additional option to the choice fields(Region) in InfoPath, I re-published the form to SharePoint 2010 Forms library. when I click new document,
the new added option showed up in the SharePoint forms library on submit, but It is not showing as an option in SharePoint Designer.
I found the choice column Region didn’t update the new added option, I need to add it
automatically. Then It will showing as an option in SharePoint Designer.
For your issue, Go to Library Settings->edit “Region” column->add the value(Global) choice into the column.

  • Custom SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflows "Failed on Start"

    Good morning everyone!
I have created a library using a custom Document Sets based content type that allows an additional custom Document based content type. I add a Document Set approval workflow using SharePoint Designer, but it constantly fails to start with these results:
    Event Type
    User ID
    Description
    Workflow Cancelled
    System Account
Workflow [Workflow Name] was cancelled by System Account
    Error
    System Account
    [Workflow Name] failed to start
I decided to test an OOTB workflow on the library to see if it would work and it did! An OOTB Approval Workflow functioned as expected. Also, other custom workflows on the site collection are running normally.
I've looked around for fixes, but haven't quite seen this exact scenario, so I figured I'd check here first before I started messing around with anything else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Toni Marie

    Hi Toni,
According to your description, my understanding is that only the custom workflow containing "Start Document Set approval process" could not get be started.
Whether you tried to create a new workflow only containing "Start Approval Process" action via SharePoint Deisgner 2010. If not, please test again, compare the result.
Please create a new library, and add the document set into this library, then enable content approval for this library in library advanced settings. After that, re-create a new workflow only containing "Start Document Set Approval process" action,
    compare the result.
Please test with another user, compare the result.
In addition, please check whether SharePoint 2007 Workflow feature and Workflow feature are enabled. If yes, please disable and re-enable them. If not, please enable them.
There is a similar post, please check if it is useful for you:

  • Create Custom list form and validate fields using sharepoint designer 2010

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to create a custom job application form which will be filled and submitted by anonymous users. I have a an option to create custom user control web part but I wanted to
create it using custom list form using SharePoint designer. My requirement is below
Date of birth (user age should be above 22yrs )
    Email Validation
    Phone validation
Resume attachment (should attach only word documents or PDF)
Qualification (If other is selected then show textbox else hide)
Can above validations be done using SharePoint designer (JavaScript or validation controls)? Or do I have to create custom control web part?
    MercuryMan

    Hello,
I think jquery/javascript can be used to put validations on those fields. Fortunately some of validation can be done via sharepoint itself like: email, phone, age. For Attachment and Qualification fields use jquery/JS.
See below link for column validations:

  • Sharepoint 2010 Workflow successful: Sharepoint 2013 Workflow UNsuccessful:

    Observation 1
    1. I created 2 workflows that write "completed" to the workflow history
    a. 1 workflow uses sp2010 workflow manager
    b. 1 workflow uses sp2013 workflow manager
    2. sp2010 workflow works fine; it will start either manually or automatically (when a new item is created ) without issue; "completed' is written to the log as expected. Good.
    3. sp2013 does not start automatically (when a new item is created ); when trying to start manually I get error message "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow." Which I do, but still fails.
    Bad.
4.On Workflows.aspx I can see the links to start the 2 workflows manually.
    a. When I hover over the sp2010 workflow link I can see something that look like this:
    http://playground/sites/falcontt/_layouts/15/IniWrkflIP.aspx?List={ae95de8e-508b-4aa6-b4b6-490288e35e9f}&ID=53&ItemGuid={697E4218-D889-4FB8-A27B-D188F5D93250}&TemplateID={199c3d86-89a8-4286-b285-37e2d2067b52}&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fplayground%2Fsites%2Ffalcontt%2FLists%2FTrouble%2520Tickets%2Fall%2520requests%2Easpx
    b. But when I hover over the sp2013 workflow link I can see something that look like this:
    javascript:StartWorkflow4('949cb889-9b46-4959-9673-842e60cc5a42', '53', '{697E4218-D889-4FB8-A27B-D188F5D93250}')
Should this link also look similar to the sp2010 workflow link? If so, do you have any idea why it is different?
    Observation 2
In Sharepoint Designer 2013, when I goto Navigation -> Workflows and click on the 2010 workflow, I see a file listed under "Forms" that looks like this "sp2010 test workflow.xsn". By the way the name of the workflow happens
    to be "sp2010 test workflow".
But when I goto Navigation -> Workflows and click on the 2013 workflow, I see a NO file listed under "Forms". Should I see "sp2013 test workflow.xsn" listed there? If yes, can you think of why it is not listed there?
I saved the workflow debug logs from Event Viewer but won't share that info here unless necessary, to avoid making things look more complicated than they have to be.
Thanks for any comments suggestions, tips, questions, anything, etc.
Thanks and have a great weekend.
    George

    Hi George,
First of all, I'd like to clarify that workflow manager is dedicated for SharePoint 2013 workflow platform. SharePoint 2010 workflow is integrated in SharePoint server, while 2013 workflow is based on a new platform named workflow manager server.
In SharePoint 2013 designer, 2010 workflow has forms while 2013 workflow doesn't have forms.
For this issue, I suspect there is something incorrect with workflow manager. From the error message "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow",  please flush the DNS cache via executing
IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS, and restart workflow manager related services such as below, then recreate 2013 workflow to test the issue:
    Service Bus Gateway
    Service Bus Message Broker

  • Sharepoint Foundation 2010 Workflows created in Sharepoint Designer

Using Sharepoint Designer 2010 (64 bit) on Sharepoint Foundation 2010 (free version)
I'm trying to get some basic workflows I've designed against a list in SPD working. They effectively just email a user the list item is assigned to based on some simple conditional checks.
I've deployed the workflow and its set to activate on item creation and item update.
Now I have checked the following already:
    - App pool for SP site is running under its own service account (not System)
    - I am the primary site collection administrator.
I'm getting this error in the log file: Unexpected
AutoStart Workflow: System.ArgumentException: The requested workflow task content type was not found on the SPWeb.
On further research it was suggested I didn't have OffWFCommon as a feature but this isn't part of Sharepoint Foundation 2010 so I'm pretty confused. The directory doesn't exist to install this feature.
Can Sharepoint Foundation 2010 actually use workflows created in SPD?
Any solutions or anything I've missed?

    Hello,
Approval WF template is not supported in foundation so use collect data from user WF in designer.

  • Unable to Create Workflows with either SharePoint Designer 2010 or 2013 to our SharePoint Online Service

    Hey there
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on our current issue using SharePoint Online (hope this question is in the correct place)
We are using SharePoint Online and I believe we are using the SharePoint Plan 1 for EDU - which I believe is the A2 Free plan.
I have being trying to get my head around the new changes (as we currently run a standalone 2010 deployment) and decided to see what workflow options I had.  I had read to use SharePoint Designer 2013 with the online service and after installation opened
the package, connected to the site and tried to create a simple email workflow.  I first saw a loading screen stating
"The list of workflow actions on the server references an assembly that does not exist. Some actions will not be available.  The assembly strong name is Microsoft.Activities, Version 1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=731bf3856ad364e35.
Contact your server administrator for more information."
after this it tried loading some metadata and then I saw:
Server-side activities have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities.
I close SPD down and rebooted and then same happened again and continues too.
After research I applied a hotfix that was known to resolve the issue, but it still remains.  I also tried running SPD in admin mode but the same still happens.
Lastly I tried selecting workflows 2010 from the drop down field when creating the workflow to see what happened.  I go the same.  I also keep getting the following as a pop from time to time.
The list of workflow actions on the server references an assembly that does not exist. Some actions will not be available.  The assembly strong name is Microsoft.Office.Workflow.Actions, Version=16.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c.
Contact your server administrator for more information.
I have also tried to do the same in SharePoint Designer 2010, but receive the same massages.
What should I be looking at or doing to help rectify this?
    Regards
    RDH

uninstalled Language Pack and it worked!
Uninstalling the Preview and installing SharePoint Designer 2013 resolved the error.
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/154/t/74327.aspx
According to the link as linle provided, there are two deletions in local, please double check these two places:
1.Delete all folders in the following directory:
    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SharePoint Designer\ProxyAssemblyCache\
2.Delete the files in all folders in this directory:
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebsiteCache\  (don’t delete the folders, just delete the contents of the folders)
Then, try to create a new workflow in SharePoint Designer 2013 to see if it works.
You can first keep the list for the current status, and save it as a template which will be used to create another list.
1.Login and locate the associated list on your SharePoint Online.
2.Click List Settings under List tab, and click Save list as template.
3.Type a File name, Template name, select Include Content, and click OK. Click OK.
    4.Click Site Actions->More Options->List.
5.Locate and click the newly saved template, type a name, and click Create.
Then, create a workflow in your SharePoint Designer 2010 associated to the new list to see if it works.
Moreover, please check if there are any maintenances on your SharePoint Online which may cause the issue.
    1.Login to Office 365 Portal (https://portal.microsoftonline.com/).
2.Click Service Health in the left pane of Admin page.
3.Check the status of SharePoint Online
If this helped you resolve your issue, please mark it Answered

  • User Profiles option missing from SharePoint Designer 2013 workflows

I noticed the User Profiles is missing as a Data Source option in the SharePoint Designer 2013 workflow platform (see image); whereas, it exists in the SharePoint 2010 workflow platform. Is there a way to connect this feature in SharePoint 2013 workflows
by registering it or configuring through Workflow Manager? If not, what is the new approach in SP 2013 to call User Profiles services?

    Hi,
Based on your description, you want to use user profile in SharePoint 2013 workflow.
In SharePoint 2013 workflow user profiles is missing, if you have to use the user profile, you can create a SharePoint 2010 workflow, and use Start a List workflow action in 2013 workflow to start the 2010 workflow.
The article below is about How to start a SharePoint 2010 Workflow within a SharePoint 2013 Workflow Using SharePoint Designer 2013
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/anavijai/how-to-start-a-sharepoint-2010-workflow-within-a-sharepoint/
And in SharePoint 2013 there is an approach to user profile, you can add the action call http web service to get the information of user profile.
The article below is about how to use call http web service in SharePoint 2013 workflow.

Please help me how will be able to edit the workflow.
While i click on "export to visio",its showing the error as "SharePoint designer encountered an error generating the visi workflow drawing".
Please help me to get the logic of the workflow,so that i can create new one.
    Thank you

    Hi Aditi,
Which type of workflow did you use?
Did you create the workflow using SharePoint 2010 Designer or built-in workflow template?
If the workflow was created using SharePoint 2010 Designer, for editing the workflow using SharePoint Designer, open the site with SharePoint 2010 Designer, then click the 'Workflows' in left panel. Then in the right panel, click the workflow that you
want to edit, then click 'edit workflow' under Customization.
    I hope this helps.

  • Errors were found when compiling workflow in SharePoint Designer 2010

    Hello there,
I've run into a interesting issue in SharePoint Designer 2010 when publishing a workflow. I now get the below error
Normally when I get this message I simply clear the SharePoint Designer 2010 cache described in this
article, however, in this case the issue still continued. Hence I started the process of trial and error and quickly realized that the Update Item action was the culprit. In this action I am updating approximately 70 columns. Currently, I have two such
actions running in sequence. When I added the third Update Item action to do the same, I started getting this error.
Has anyone else experienced this before? In the workflow I am currently working on I am going to have to using the Update Item action several times and update approximately 70 columns hence I am open to other ideas to do the same.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Entan Ming,
Thanks for your reply, Hope you are aware that while we create any new workflow using SharePoint Designer 2013. There are two ways (We can say Platforms) to create the new workflow 1. SharePoint
    2010 and 2. SharePoint 2013.
If I choose second one I. e SharePoint 2013, and try to create, save and publish workflow it`s working fine. But whenever I select option no. 1  i.e. SharePoint 2010  Platform to create
the workflow, I am able to Create it , save it , but while I try to publish it I got an error:
Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.
When I click on Advance I got message:
Unexpected error on server associating the workflow
My question is that, I am not able to publish any workflow in SharePoint 2010 Platform, using SharePoint Designer 2013.
Before publishing a workflow, I click on ‘Check for errors’ button, there was no any error found.

  • How to send emails to Multiple Users from a Single People Picker lookup field using Sharepoint designer workflow

    Hi All,
I am working with SharePoint 2013 designer workflow. we are using office 365.
Our requirement to send email to multiple users, get the user groups from lookup list people and groups column.
But SP designer sending emails to the first user alone.
    Please guide me to proceed.
    Advance Thanks.

    Jenkins NS
    Thanks and Regards Jenkins

    finally I got a solution
Identified a workaround to solve the issue using SharePoint designer.
    Step 1
Create a lookup list Example department
    Columns
Title (by default) – Single line of text
    Users – Person or Group
Emails – Multiple lines of text
hidden the Emails column (go to content type and set the column as hidden)
    Create a SharePoint designer Workflow
Start Workflow automatically when an item is created
Also Start Workflow automatically when an item is changed
    Workflow Stage 1
Set Emails to current Item: Users
The workflow will get all users email ids and add in the Emails column delimiter as semicolon.
    Step 2
Create a custom list to get the email ids and send email
Create a lookup column ex: analysis and refer department list, Allow multiple values
Then Create a SharePoint designer workflow
full details workflow steps please follow below

  • How to set a condition to check if a field is been updated in workflow

    Hi,
I have a scenario, wherein a workflow email will be triggered to a person only when a field (of type person/group) from the list is updated with the person's name.
Now I was trying to put a check condition to send the email only when the field is updated.
Is it possible in SP2013 workflow please ?
    Many thanks !
    Regards

    Hi Prajk,
As I understand, you want to email a person only when the field is updated.
You can do the following steps in SharePoint Designer.
Go to your list, and create a helper column which has same column type with the field you need to check the updating.
Open you site in SharePoint Designer and New workflow(Choose your List/Library).
Create new variable to check whether the field is updated via comparing the helper column and the filed.
Pick Send an Email to send email to the person.
For more detailed steps, please refer to the following link:
    http://officepowerups.com/2013/07/09/send-email-when-specific-field-changes-in-sharepoint/
By the way, the link is a demo of SharePoint Designer 2010, it also works for SharePoint 2013 workflow.
