FIFO costing method - what table ?

Hi all,
I got one child org. which is on FIFO costing method and I got the standard report from Oracle which show the total value of the item.
Now, I'm intend to write a report to show the details on what value the system will picked up individually when there is a move order/ issue that happened. What are the tables that involved when there is a move order/ issue for the item. I can see
mtl_cst_actual_cost_details which has new_cost, prior_cost & actual_cost. But when come to move order/issue the actual_cost was average up. I can't see the FIFO picking up ?
Please advise.

I will like to know how to check raw materials costing settings in SAP. How can I know whether it is FIFO or LIFO? Is it default to FIFO if I did not set anything in SAP implementation?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
If you work with batchs you can use the creation data to work with FIFO.
I hope this solve your problem.

  • Sub Contracting in FIFO Valuation Method

    Dear All,
I am facing one serious problem while using Subcontracting Addon.
We have developed Sub Contracting Add-on based on Standard Valuation Method and it is working fine.
But when we use FIFO Valuation method then it will not allow.
So could you please guide me the process/procedure how to implement Sub Contracting in FIFO Valuation Method.
Means what are changes needs to make it success in FIFO.
    Thanks
    Vikas

    Hi
Yes its right not to change the earlier valued items on one costing method to another.
Imp. to note that, for manufacturing/sub-contracting the best costing method is Standard. Because, in manufacturing processes, its very much impossible to track the exact in and out of material as per FIFO; costing method comes into picture as you made some inward and outward or some movement of material, i.e. in case of purchasing material FIFO starts acting as you start consuming the materials or you transfer the material from one warehouse to another, other than in which you have received the material. When you have material on floor, its quite impossible to track the exact movement of material, means which material is actually being processed on the floor. So, If we use FIFO for such items, then actual costing will be always different from executed/system costing, Also, FIFO is suggested for only those business practices who are following the JIT principle. But, by having Special as costing method for manufacturing items, we avoid such problems to have actual costing, though it may again differ from actual costing, but overall as per the business experience we come to know COGS to actual basis.
In Special Costing method, it's recommendable to revise the Standard cost of the items, periodically.

  • How to Change Costing Methods Average Costing to FIFO Costing

    hi folks,
i had requirement i.e i want to change from average costing to fifo costing in my current company?
    how can we change this?
    any solutions will be appreciated
    regards,

Look at the default categories form to find the category that is is assigned for inventory.
Then go to the category set and see what the level of control is. If it is master see if you can change it to organization. (If items are assigned you may not be able to).
I think then you can change the attribute controls.

  • FIFO costing

    Hi forum,
i am trying to build a Query/Crystal Report with costing on hand.
In SAP how can i get or what table contains the cost of the on hand records.
I am working with serialized items and i cannot get a correct value because the cost that i am getting (CalcPrice) is not the correct one; the cost i am getting is the cost when the item/serial was received.
Now, the total valued is correct except that if i display/print the cost the total value doesn't balance correctly.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Manuel Roman

    Hi Manuel Roman,
I could understand you requirement.  However, there is no easy answer.  Simply because, FIFO is calculated on the fly as it happens.  You do not have any power to recreate the historical event.  Further more, FIFO costing is on the item level, there is no way to calculate serial number level costs.
All cost related transaction could be found in OINM tables.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Changing the costing method

    Hello,
We are looking for approaches/feasibility in changing the costing method.
From FIFO to Average or Standard.
    Oracle EBS version is 11.5.10.2.
Any pointer in this regards would be of great help.
    Thanks,
    Sathish

    Hi,
What Nagamohan have suggested is the best solution. But take in mind the following steps need to completed for changing the costing method.
    1) Create a new inventory organization with new costing method
    2) Move the items & onhand quantity from old inventory org to the new inventory organization
    3) Issue out the onhand quantity from old inventory organization
    4) Migrate the bill of materials if any to new inventory organization.
    5) Migrate the routings if any to new inventory organization
    6) Take care of open Purchase Orders, Sales Orders and Jobs.
    7) Modify the custom reports which is referring to the old inventory organization.
If transaction history is required that need to be migrated in addition to that.

  • Dunning Letter as Crystal Report: What tables? (SAP B1 9.0)

    Dear Experts,
I am being asked to revise the Dunning Letters for our clients.  The existing PLDs for each Dunning Letter shows most data fields as system variables.  The existing Crystal Report for Dunning Letter 1 is a conversion from the PLD and doesn't show table information for most of the report's main items.  There are tables in the report but they are standard ones (OADM, OADP, OCRD, OHEM, OSLP).  It also includes a "table" called "PLD__ITEMS" which has all the PLD system variables and no B1 table or field/column information.
As I'm just now starting to work with dunning letters, I see that I can't even run this report in Crystal.  The PLD__Items datasource prompts me for a file path and class name.  Any ideas what one enters here to run the report outside of B1 (from the Crystal report designer)?
The main focus of my question is: Has anyone created a Crystal Report to replicate the Dunning Letter and if so, what tables are involved and how are they connected?  If I can create a Dunning Letter entirely in Crystal, I can replicate it across all clients and get the correct fields/columns of data the clients want.  The inclusion of the PLD__Items apparently limits my ability to test the results.  I would prefer to avoid the PLD limitations.
    Thanks for any assistance.

Thank you Nagarajan.  I have a dunning letter created in Crystal Reports for our client.  It is fairly limited in scope, it just has the customer name and address, invoice numbers and dates, amounts due and the text they wanted in it.
I can import it into B1 9.0 and set it as the default for Dunning Letter #1 and it runs, but unlike other formats where there is a DocEntry and/or ObjectID and a ?DocKey@ or ?ObjectId@ parameter, how do I limit the report to just one customer?  Typical document layouts run for the document that's on the screen.  In the dunning process, the report runs once for every customer when the Dunning Letter Method is set to "One Letter per BP".  I have to limit the report to one customer at a time.  Right now, each dunning letter based on the Crystal report is identical and it contains all the data for every customer.
So, does anyone have any ideas for what selection criteria needs to be included in the Crystal report to have it select just one customer from the dunning wizard tables?  Thanks.
    Michael
Edit: I created a ?WizardID@ parameter and a ?CardCode@ parameter to limit the report to a single dunning wizard event and a single customer.  While it works fine in Crystal itself, it doesn't work in B1 at all.  I had thought that by limiting the report in this way, it would only create dunning letters for a single customer.

For a current report, I need to obtain the data stored in transaction KSB1 - Actual Cost Line items for cost centers.
What tables contain this data? Are there any standard function modules available to obtain the data?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    John

The following content from SAP help file may help you.
    Use
You can use Report Painter reports and line item reports from the Cost Center Accounting (CO-OM-CCA) and Internal Orders components (CO-OM-OPA) to evaluate archives. Generally, the following reports can read the relevant data from any archive:
    ·        All Report Painter reports for table CCSS
    ·        The actual line item report for internal orders
    ·        The actual line item report for cost centers
    ·        Document display
The SAP system includes a variety of report and archiving object .combinations. The standard system thus provides only a limited number of reports for given archiving objects. However, it is also possible to execute other reports for an archiving object.
    Actions
Reading Report Painter Reports from the Archive via the Component
    1.      To execute a Report Painter report, choose Information system ®Report selection in the given component and select the desired report.
    2.      On the report selection screen, choose Data source.
    3.      On the following dialog box, select Read from archive and choose Continue.
    4.      On the following dialog box, enter the object from which you want to read the archived data.
Choose F4 Help to obtain a list of the archiving objects to which the report applies.
    5.      Choose Archive selection to determine the archive files for the report.
    6.      As in the standard transaction, you can start the report online or in a background job.
Reading Line Item Reports and Documents from the Archive via the Component
    1.      To execute a line item report or document display, choose Information system ® Report selection in the given component and select the desired line item report or document display.
    2.      On the report selection screen, choose Extras ® Data source.
    3.      On the following dialog box, select Archive as the data source.
As it is often unnecessary to enter further selection criteria when reading data from an archive, you can enter an asterisk (*) under Cost center and Order where required.
Reading Reports from Archive Administration from the Archive (SARA Transaction)
    1.      Under Object name, enter the archiving object (such as CO_COSTCTR) and choose Evaluate.
Choose F4 Help for the Read program field to list all the reports for the archiving object.
    2.      Choose and execute the required report.
    3.      Branch from the selection screen to the data source selection:
    a)  For Report Painter reports, choose Data source.
    b)  For line item reports or for document display, choose Extras ®Data source.
    4.      The archiving object is already defaulted. Choose Archive selection to determine the archive files for the report.
    5.      As in the standard transaction, you can start the report online or in a background job.
    Assigning Reports to Archiving Objects
The SAP system stores the report assignments to the archiving objects. The assignment controls which objects appear in the F4 Help for the data sources and which reports appear for the read programs in archive administration.
A warning message appears if you choose an archiving object that is not assigned the relevant report or a report that is not assigned the relevant archiving object. You can ignore this warning message. You can execute the report if you wish, but you must bear in mind that incomplete data will be the result.
To view the assignments in the standard SAP system, see the ARCH_REPOW table.
    Importing Standard Assignments
The ARCH_REPOW table is a Customizing table that also allows user-defined assignments. Standard assignments are provided therefore in client 000 only. You cannot use reports in other clients for reading data from the archive.
    1.      To import standard assignments to other clients, go to the SAP  initial screen, choose Tools ® ABAP Workbench ®ABAP Editor, and enter and execute program ARCH_REPOW_IMPORT.
    2.      Enter CO_* as the archiving object.
    3.      Accept the default settings in the other fields (source client 000, report type RW).
    4.      Choose Execute.
    Creating Custom Assignments
In principle, you can read data from given archiving objects even if the standard SAP system does not have the relevant combination of report and archiving object.
    ·        For Report Painter reports, the prerequisites are:
    -   The report applies to table CCSS
    -   The archiving object includes table COSP or COSS
Tables COSP and COSS may also appear in the archiving object definitions as COSPA and COSSA.
Of course, you may also use custom reports to read archiving object data.
    ·        For line item reports, table COEP must be part of the archiving object. Table COEP may also appear in the archiving object definition as view COVP or COVPxy (where u201Cxu201D and u201Cyu201D stand for numerals).
If you want to work with previously unsupported assignments, enter these in table ARCH_REPOW in order to avoid confusion among end-users. In addition, you can include documentation justifying the use of the corresponding report for your own archive reading runs.
    To enter a new assignment:
    1.      Start system transaction SM30.
    2.      Enter table ARCH_REPOW.
    3.      ChooseMaintain.
    4.      Choose New entries to enter the new assignments.
    Make the following entries:
    a)  Under Object name, enter the name of the archiving object.
    b)  Under Report type, enter:
    RW for Report Painter reports
    TR for line item reports
    c)  Under Program name, enter:
The name of the report group for Report Painter reports
KSB1 for the actual line item report for cost centers
KOB1 for the actual line item report for internal orders
    KSB5 for document display
    d)  Leave the Activate archive selection field empty.

  • Change costing method from Moving Average to Standard costing

    Hi Expert
I need to find out the prerequisites for changing the valuation method of an item from Moving average to Standard costing.
(In the forums i found a note which discusses the change of costing method from FIFO to Moving average.)
It would be greatly appreciated if i can get a reply ASAP
    Thank you

    Apsara

    Hi Son
Let me rephrase my previous question as i have asked it incorrectly.
Step 1. Make all quantities of the stock zero and also close all Open PO, SO etc
Step 2. change the inventory valuation method
Step 3. Enter new stock prices for the standard cost through stock revaluation. My question is can this be (step 3) done through DTW
    Thank you
    Kind Regards

  • R12: Cost Method in Inv Setup Org Params Costing Information

Can someone confirm my suspicion that the Costing Method field in Inventory > Setup > Organization Parameters > Costing Information tab DOES NOT APPLY to OPM "process enabled" organizations?
The actual costing method for OPM is determined by the Cost Type that is setup within OPM Financials and assigned to the OPM Cost Calendar.
Just curious if the Costing Method field has any affect (good, bad, or ugly) whatsoever with the OPM setup...

Yes, I'm pretty sure it has no meaning when you enable an org as process mfg. I can't get into conventional item costs when org is OPM enabled - it gives a message. The OPM costs are stored in another table to normal costs and it makes sense that you can't have an OPM and a discrete cost for the same item in the same org as only one cost can make it through to the GL.

  • FIFO Costing issue

    Hello,
How would I correct or adjust FIFO Costing? I thought that the basis of the FIFO costing is the posting date and not the system date.

    Hi Jaylord,
As been mentioned by Gordon and Rohul, you could use Inventory Revaluation.
However, as your question, FIFO calculation in any system should be based on system date / actual date. I don't think there is any system exist that capable calculate FIFO costing based on posting / document date, considering if any back-dated transaction occurred, system should re-calculate all FIFO cost for available stocks which received after those date, and add the possibility that some item already delivered, hence, system need to re-index all records in OINM table, it's all a big confusion and too convoluted.
And believe me, accounting department won't like this idea even this kind of system exist. It's too much hassle to maintain the inventory ledger. Hope I don't misunderstood your question.
