FIGL extractor to use in BCS

I'm in a BCS project and designed to be the BW consultant for the project.
I know that there is a base named EC-CS that you can read FIGL datas into a cube in BW to import these data later to a BCS cube. But I heared that there is a new solution that we don't need to use EC-CS anymore.
So what I want is know if there is a standard extractor/cube(s) used to be the source for BCS.
I can use the extractor 0FI_GL_4 to get the informations I need, but I will have to enhance it to get Movement Type information.
Is there any other solution for this? A better extractor or something like that?

This forum mentions many such extractors and it is suggested you search for the details in the forum.
My favorite, if profit center accounting is fully utilized for all balance sheet and income statement accounts it the extractor for table GLPCT for the profit center totals records.
There are also ways to read the data real-time directly from ECC via a virtual infocube.

Need advice on extractors to use

Dear Experts,
We need to deliver some financial reports to our client(Source : SAP r/3). According to client they need to have the following reports.
1.The workflow report needs to e done which shows selecting the necessary company codes and incomplete workitems. This report will give details of the workflow items that are live in the system.
2. A download of SU01D to identify the names, job title, works and BU of the SAP ID from the workflow reports.
3. An errors report to highlight any workflows in error.
I am not sure what are the extractors i have to use in order to get data from SAP R/3 for work flow data and User data.Is it possible? Any ideas would be really helpful.

The [Business Process Management|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/177520f5e82ba8e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm] datasources will give you all infos about workflow.
You'll probably get the SAP username in the workflow item, datasource 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR will give you the needed organizational infos.

LO Cockpit and which extractor to use

We have several teams implementing data all from within the LO Cockpit. We have noticed a pattern on the different modules. The pattern below is for PP-PI, but holds true for other areas. So this answer should resolve the other areas.
We see there are 3 main areas:
1. 2LIS_04_P_MATNR (Header Info)
2. 2LIS_04_P_COMP (Component)
3. 2LIS_04_P_ARBPL (Operation)
We noticed that ARBPL basically has every field that COMP and MATNR has. Then COMP has every field that MATNR has. So our question is: Why 3 different extractors? Why not just always use ARBPL and when a Header or Component field is need only this extractor has to be modified?

You can do that and its totally dependent upon the requirement.
I havent worked on PP extractors but this is the case with all the areas.
Data source enhancement create performance problems and more the tables are read in CMOD.. more the performance goes bad and also there is a limitation on the number of fields on the data source but I am not sure how much it is....so it is better to have separate data sources logically he way SAP stores it.
Some requirement could be to see all the fields for the item as well as header and if you put everything in one extractor then the number of fields increases by a greate deal.
Also it has to do with the tracking the delta for all the fields......more the number of fields in the extractor...more the lines and complexity of code to track the changes to all those fields for delta...
So I think it was also one of other possible reason to keep things simple.

as Ashish wrote check in se16 if there are data for your selection criteria in tables you use in this datasource
if you use infoset check it in sq02 especially join conditions
if you use function module - test this module in se37

Can we use BCS component in ECC 6.0, without installing BI 7.0?

We have a unique situation. We have planned to migrate from 4.6B to ECC 6.0. We have FI- LC and we want to move to SEM-BCS 6.0 in ECC 6.0, without installing separate BI (netweaver 2004s) instance. Is that possible? If possible, will there be any performance issues? If we use BCS in ECC 6.0, does it eliminate the job of FS data extraction to BW-SEM?
Do we need a separate BI system, which can also include SEM-BCS? What are the advantages?
We look forward for advice.

We found that without installing BI 7.0, BCS component (with its own internal BI) is working in ECC 6.0. In earlier ECC 5.0 or R/3, such facility was not available.
My question is that "Is it good to use SEM-BCS with in ECC 6.0" or "Is it better to have separate BI instance, which can include BCS" . Either answer has to be supported with points. Appreciate any assistance.

Generic Extractor built on an infoset which uses a logical database

Is anyone aware of any performance issues when building an infoset generic extractor which uses a logical database as the source? Also would anyone also be aware the process of collecting data for extraction? Thanks

Thanks for this - I have been informed that there are issues with a small subset of data and I just wanted to get an idea if the steps that would be carried out be the same if the generic extractor is built on table joins or logical data base or does the latter actual carry out say some pre processing steps

BCS Using a Recipient list

Hello,
I use the BCS Interface to send a mail to SAPOffice and external recipients ... .. While doing this with the API functions it was possible to set a predefined SAPOffice recipient list.
Can I do this also with the BCS functions and how ?

Figured it out.

Should I use BCS my backend database will update all the record of the sql table daily.

Should I use the BCS where the database table is going to be updated daily.
All the records will be updated on daily basis.
Why should I use BCS when I can connect to the sql server directly and update the records that I need.
What additional benefits can I get from BCS , I do not need the search functionality.

According to description, my understanding is that you want to know if you need to use Business Connectivity Services to connect external SQL table.
Business Connectivity Services is a centralized infrastructure in SharePoint 2013 and Office 2013 that supports integrated data solutions.
Business Connectivity Service will provide a familiar user interface to manage sql table data. It is more security for reading and writing data to external sql table.

Will use of Web Property Extractors be a good solution for this scenario?

Hi all
We have a scenario where we would like to use our existing SAP Portal
environment along with the TREX to search in a a database with 150000+
cases much similar to SAP Customer Messages.
We are thinking of implementing the following scenario:
1) We develop a custom application that extracts cases from
our "customer message application", and converts them into html-files.
2) These 150000+ html-files are published on a web server that can be
seen by the SAP Portal (and corresponding TREX).
3) We integrate this "artificial" web site into our portal using a Web
Repository Manager with configured Web Property Extractors (content is published in meta tags).
4) We set up an index and configure search iviews etc, so the
supporters are able to search in different parts of the "customer messages" (=different properties).
My questions are now:
1) Can the Web Property Extractors be used in other repository managers
(like the CM repository manager, eg) or can you set up a Web Repository
Manager to look into a file server instead of a web server or will the above mentioned scenario be the only feasible solution?
2) What considerations should be done in relation to the above scenario in order to assure good search
performance and a well performing database? We have a bunch of text
snippets (that can be very long) that we wants to extract into
properties - thus being stored in the database. Will this be a problem?
Or will it not effect performance if the database is running on a SAN?

Special Extraction for FIGL

Hi,
I have a query in R/3 based on a FIGL logical database.
This query use the GSEG structure and is able to spread
in two columns the item of an accounting documents.I need to modelize this in BW due to poor performance in R/3 .The GSEG give for one item in BSEG the others item of the same document.
With the FIGL Extractor line item i'am not able to do this.
Did someone face the same problem?

You are not mentioed what exact eror is displaying , might be these are the errors like TR/UR or transformation may inactive , special char, etc.As you said in your post plant maitenance data source has been replicated due to this transformation may inactive.
this is a plant maintenence cube and ia replicated the datasource agian in BI Production and it is active.

BW Extractor for FS10N Repot

Hello all,
I have seen few threads on BW extractors for FS10N report.
I would like to know which is the best BW extractor to use for FS10N report.
Is it 0FI_GL_4 or 0FI_GL_10 or 0FI_GL_1? Could anyone please suggest.

The table FAGL_ACTIVEC has no entries in ECC. I assume it is not active.
I will use 0FI_GL_4 extractor and enhance as per the requirement.
Could you please tell me what setting I need to do to get latest delta's when I run data load from BW?
I understand that I need to do some settings in tables BWOM_SETTINGS, BWOM2_TIMEST.

Report Does Not Display Data from Non-BCS Cube

I have the following scenario.
I have a MultiProvider with two real-time cubes. Cube A is used to store Actual data and Cube B is used to store Budget data.
Cube A is used by BCS, so the real-time load behavior is set to "Real-Time Data Target Can Be Planned; Data Loading Not Alllowed".
Cube B is not used by BCS, so data is being loaded using BW InfoPackages, with real-time behavior set to "Re-Time Data Target Can Be Loaded With Data; Planning Not Allowed"
My BCS has two Consolidation Group hierarchy. One is for Legal reporting and another one is for Business Segment reporting. So, if I have a Consolidation Unit, COMPANY1, it would belong both hierarchies, e.g. LEGAL1 and BSEG1.
In my query, I have no problem displaying Actual data when I specified Reporting Mode (0BCS_REPMOD) = Standard. (S). However, Budget data does not get displayed. FYI, I have uploaded data twice for each record i.e. LEGAL1 and BSEG1 in the Cons Group (0SEM_CGCOMP) characteristic.
Any idea on how can I get the budget data displayed?

Without proper construction of multiprovider you'll not be able to see both cubes.

In BCS HTML mail images are broken

HI experts,
I'm using the BCS calls to send out nice looking HTML which also includes one logo.
Internally, in our LAN, the mails are looking quite nice and the image/logo is displayed correctly (MS Outlook)
When external users using Lotus Notes try to open such an HTML mail, the image is attached correctly to the mail, but it isn't displayed, just a broken image picture. There's no chance to make the image visible inside the mail, they can just open the attached image itself, outside the mail context.
Question is now how can I reach that the image is displayed correctly? If this is not possible at all, how can realize that the Lotus Notes users get a "Show Images" link (security restriction - add sender to safe senders)???
Please find my current coding below, do I miss a parameter some where???

I also had this problem with the Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql install.
I battled with this for a while, I manged to get the images displayed etc.. by adding the following directive in httpd.conf

Still playing around with it - perhaps I need to dig further/security rules etc..
But at least its something.

In PWA, can I use a "Site Column" as "Custom Field" or vise versa?

As Guillaume has mention, there is no link between SharePoint site columns and Project Server custom fields, they are different entities used for different parts of the system. Site Columns are a SharePoint setting that can be used in the lists / libraries
on the SharePoint sites. Project Server custom fields are used by Project Server and not SharePoint. Project Server custom fields are created via the PWA > PWA Settings > Enterprise Custom Fields and Lookup Tables page. You can see a post

Scroll down to the section starting with: "Before we look at creating custom fields lets have an overview.." for details on custom fields.
You can also create Project Server custom fields and lookup tables programmatically using the PSI / CSOM / JSOM if needed.
There are ways in which you can "sync" SharePoint columns with Project Server custom fields but this is not out of the box. You would need to look at developing your own solution or look for a 3rd party solution. Fluent Pro have a solution to sync
Look up tables with other sources such as a SharePoint list, see the Lookup Manager here:
