Figures with captions

I'm trying to create a paper where I have figures and captions under the figures and would like the body text to nicely fill in all of the space around the figures. My text body is double columned and the figures and captions span both columns. I simply insert the figures and captions in the body text, the figure is at one point and the caption immediately follows. The problem is that I have a lot of figures, and I end up getting a lot of empty sections, because the program decides a new page is necessary to fit the figure before the previous page fills up with text. I tried changing the anchor position of the anchored frame to "top of column", which helps with the space issue, but then the caption no longer connects to it. Any ideas how to get this to work? Seems like a common thing to want to do. Thanks in advance!

The easy way to keep a figure and caption together is to create a one-cell
table, with titles turned on. Put the figure in the table cell, and assign
the caption paragraph format to the title. They'll always stay together.

it's a bit dificult to control anchored object -speacially in two colum text box- when placing image in one and half colum size, it wont move to first column.

The way that you would transfer photos from iPhoto to the iPad would be to sync with iTunes. Connect the iPad to your Mac with the cable and launch iTunes. Select your iPad under the devices heading on the left. Then click on the Photos tab in the iTunes window on the right. You can select the folder from which you want to sync your photos in the drop down menu bar - so select iPhoto there. Then select the album or events that you want to sync from the windows below. After you have made your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
I am not sure how the iPad will handle a slide show in the photos app that was created on your Mac. You can create basic slide shows on the iPad using the different albums, events or faces that you have in the Photo app, but as for the captioning that you have already set up, I don't know how that will work in the app when you sync the slide show.

in report 2 key figure calculate in the time zones using given in variable Grid Width (0DPM_BV0) like due in 1 to 30 days, 31 to 60 days...the due amount based on the open on key date(0P_DATE_OPEN)
to calculate in 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, 91-120, 121-150 and >150 days in 6 columns
now i have requirement like this

or

Add new key figure with characteristics in report painter

I am create a new report painter in GRR2 under report group 8A2 (EC-PCA: Standard Reports) and i would like to create a report show on G/L amount with segment.
When i click on first column to assign "key figure with characteristics" i am not able to find characteristics "segment".
Please kindly advice how to create in new characteristics in report painter?

Hi,
"segment" is not a characteristic of classical profit-center accounting (libraries 8A*). Its a New GL characteristic, thus create a report painter report for New GL library.

The issue with the A1400 is that like most economy compact cameras, they will not have very fast focus times in indoor lighting situations. Many people have gone to entry level DSLR's (Canon T3i) or micro 4/3 cameras. They are fairly expensive, but a late model refurbished T3i can sometimes be found with a kit lens for about $300.00. With Auto and scene modes, as well as full manual modes, these are very versatile cameras that focus very quickly, even in lower lighting situations. Canon is not really into the micro 4/3 cameras, instead they are focusing on the new G7x and G1x cameras, which are way out of your price range. The A720 is still available used at some places such as KEH camera, but you'll need to check often as their stock changes constantly. Obviously the DSLR's don't use AA batteries, but the T3i is good for about 600 photos (or more) per charge.
My refurbished DSLR was practically brand new condition when I got it. I could not find any sign of wear at all, so I feel they are a real bargain. These are rugged cameras that are made to last. The A1400 is a $99.00 camera, so it's not intended for heavy usage, plus the image quality of a DSLR (even entry level) is far better than the A1400. That would be my recommendation.

Hi - I am not very savvy technically and need to create a PDF document with multiple jpeg images with captions. Is it best for me to do this online by using the "convert to PDF" service at acrobat.com? I would like to know if it will be easy for me to upload and label 4-5 images and then make that into a PDF before I pay the monthly fee. I appreciate any help I can get!! Thanks.

CreatePDF doesn't have a word processing tool but you could do this using the Acrobat.com service to do this. Acrobat.com has a word processing tool and the ability to convert your file to PDF. You can test at this capability with a free trial.

Key figure with pre-calculated aggregation

I have to model a key figure with a pre-calculated aggregation, that is, soruce flat files contain explicit values for months, quarters, halfyears and years. The key figure is a percentage (service quality) and the corresponding company department provides me with results for all aggregation levels.
I think that this case can be modeled with one InfoCube for each aggregation level and a Multicube but I have to create a high number of InfoCubes (aprox. 180).
I can get the formula that department uses, but it's possible on BW to change standard aggregation (SUM, MAX, MIN)?

Hi Alberto,
One of the ways of doing it could be -
add another field (char) to your cube called at "value Type" & assign different values to it depending upon the time value.
say Monthly - value type 1
Querter - value type 2
& so on ...
keep filling the same key figure.
at the time of reporting restrict your key figure accordingly with the value type. ( say need only montly key figure value restrict value type to "1")

Currency figure with 5 decimals

is it possible to load (from a flat file) currency figures with 5 decimal places? The figures come in various currencies and so need to be a CURR but for me it seems that all I can see is 2 decimals.
Is there a way to do this?

There are two options:
Option 1>Select Data-Type as FLTP rather than CURR on Type/unit tab of Key Figure creation.
This can only be set when you create a key-figure, you can't change it afterwards
Or
Option 2 >
Remdelling in BI7.0:
you can explore is through remodelling.
create a new key-figure and write a remodelling rule for replacing your old key-figure with new keyfigure.
You will have to manage the behaviour of how the data gets copied from old to new key-figure in customer exit.

What would cause images with captions to not show up?

I have been struggling with this for days. I am working on it with Apple. We re-installed the software, I re-installed OSLion, I re-started in safe mode, looked at startup items, cache, etc.
Now I am about to create a partition and test again to determine if the issue is with another software program on my system.
BTW, I noticed this starting AFTER I upgraded to 1.1, but maybe that is a coincidence. Do you know if it started for you after the update? ALSO, check your help screen in IBA. Does it look the attached? This started happening at the same time as the caption/image issue.
Please stay in touch as you the first person other than myself (that I know about), who is having this issue.

How do you edit to tape with captions?

Howdy,
Captions are in sequence, show up in the program panel and are in 708. VANC is enabled. Where do I go from here? Is it supposed to ask me if I want to export with captions (like it does when you export media)?

Captions are very confusing to me at this moment. I've been captioning for the last 18 years so I'm very familiar with 608 captioning. 708 captions on the other hand are acting bizarre. Yesterday we captioned a show and we saw captions from head to tail. Great. When I checked captions the weirdness begins. Naturally when you finish laying a show to tape your at the end of the show. So I rewound the tape 2 minutes to check sync and no captions. On our scopes I can see the pip on line 9 (vanc area) and I can tell the data is active but no display of captions. If I rewind to the start of the show captions are there. I can play all the way thru the show and captions are there. But if I'm playing the show and watching captions and change the input to our QC CC monitor and then changed it back no captions will be displayed. The only way I can rationalize this is there must be header info that plays at the beginning of the CC file that interprets the 708 data but if you start ( or tune in) in the middle of the show there is interpretation going on and then no CC is displayed.
If I put 608 on V2 and 708 on V3 will only one track be embedded, the one the display setting is set to? Most network shows have both 608 and 708 and I'd like to be able to do that also.

Please take a look at the following notes:
1378796 - Disabled Sorting when there is one struct. in the drilldown
1332267 - BExAnalyzer: changes in cell properties dialog / sorting
these should explain why the sort feature is no longer available in certain scenarios.

Help with setting up individual thumbnails with captions

I'm wondering how would be the best way to set up several individual thumbnails (in dreamweaver) which open up to a larger image with a caption; so they are set up like this site:

I see lots of ways to do thumbnails with captions but not lots of single one like in the site above...
