File attachment issue persists

The OTA update was supposed to fix the issue of allowing a file greater than 5mb to be attached to emails.  After the update, I still can't attach a file greater than 5mb.  Will this issue get corrected soon?

Here is the wording from the update pdf file on Verizon's Support website:  I made bold and enlarged the line about fixing the 5mb limit issue.

Moderator action : added [ code] tags to make the code readable.

String is not a suitable container for binary data so unless the two lines
                 compressFile("test.pdf","testpdf.gzip");
String encodedData = new String(getBytesFromFile(new File("testpdf.gzip")));actually Base64 encode the file content you are probably corrupting your file.
I suspect you should be Base64 encoding the compressed file and modifying the mime-type to reflect this.

  • Excel file download issue

    Hi Experts,
I am downloading an excel file which is stored at the MII server using JSP file. I am using the below code for the same. I am able to download the excel file successfully but when I open the same I get some junk value as content. I mean to say the content is not at readable format. I have tested the java code using standalone program where it worked successfully.
I  tested this JSP at MII 12.2 and MII 14.0 and both provided same result. I have attached the screenshot of excel how it looks after opening
I want to know is this a problem with Netweaver web server?. I mean the way it runs JSP. Unfortunately I could not test this on another web server
Any help on this is very much appreciated.

    Hi Christian,
    Thanks for your response.
I tried that as well but same result. I get a alert message as below while opening the file.
"Excel cannot open the file Demo.xls because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file"
I am trying to run the same file on another web server such as tomcat and see if the issue persist.
    Thanks

  • Text messages with animated .gif files attachment

I recieved a text the other day with an animated gif file attached. I believe it was sent as a zip file. Anyway I tried to open it and all I got was a gray screen with an icon . No animation.. The second one I recieved was from a buddy. I watched and listened to it on his Droid 1. I had him send it to my phone text came through fine when I went to load and play the gif file it .had sound but no animation, just the gray screen again. I know the attachment is a zip file as I sent it to my email and opened it on my computer. Any thoughts maybe there's a setting I'm not finding? I'm using whatver text mesage program thats standard on the DX.
    Thanks
    MTY55.

Sounds like the issue you are having is that the files are zipped, MMS should be zipped because it has to access the files to display it.. I send and recieve anifated gif files and they play fine but also keep in mind that for some reason the stock email client does not play all files at same time, if there is a audio and photo, it will play audio and then the photo..

    Hi Alex,
The trick to this whole thing is to scroll to the bottom of the message. There should be a dashed line at the bottom of the email message with text underneath it that says, "This message was downloaded as plain text." Underneath that it should say (in blue hyperlink text) "Download full message". Select that hyperlink, and the Excel file should download completely. You should then be able to select the document and have it open correctly.
I have had the same concern regardless of file format that is sent, so I do not believe your issue is with file format. Hope this helps.
I've seen the same thing happen with images, which it displays in a corrupted form. It's fixed by downloading the full message.
There's a more serious side effect of this, which I've now seen with several types of files. If one FORWARDS the email to someone else, the attached files it sends them are CORRUPTED and unopenable too. In the case of a Word files I looked at, it had dropped the last two bytes of the file.
The workaround for that is to download the full message before forwarding.
I'm seeing this happening with so many types of attachments that I'm assuming it affects them all. Please everyone report this to Apple feedback (http://www.apple.com/feedback/). It's one thing not being able to open a file on your device, it's another to have files corrupted permanently just by forwarding.

  • Mail attachment issues in full screen apps

This is an interesting issue.  So far it only occurs with MS Excel.  When Mail is open as a full screen app and I open an xlsx file attached to a mail message the screen shifts back over to the desktop screen as it should, but the Excel window remians locked with the Mail full screen app.  At this time, I cannot swipe back over to Mail, it just shifts back over to the desktop screen every time I try.  The only resolution that I have found so far is to quite Mail from my dock icon and relaunch.  This then moves the Excel window to my desktop screen.
I wonder if this is only an issue with programs that do not suppport full screen apps.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Marc

Have you tried toggling - Command, Control, F
If you do a 5 finger swipe up do you see Apple Mail as it's own desktop?  If so when you expand Apple Mail use the green traffic dot in the upper left side instead of the full screen double arrow on the upper right side.

  • ICloud lack of preferences and attachment issues

I've been using iCloud mail for a few weeks after leaving Outlook/Hotmail due to problems. It seems like I've traded off one set is issues for another set with iCloud mail.
There appears to be no preferences available at all to set up preferred body typefaces and styles, email signature (ie. setting sections in bold or italics), colours or anything like what I could do through Outlook. Even this forum box has more type settings, smileys and indent settings than iCloud
More annoyingly, any pdfs I attach and send through iCloud mail more often get a renamed to something along the lines of 'ATT000046.pdf'. This creates real issues for me as a freelance designer reliant on jobs being sent to my clients which are precisely named. I cannot work out why some clients receive the correctly named file, and others receive an 'ATT........' one.
Some files also change to .dat files (a Windows file!?) – this often happens when I zip several pdfs together.
It's getting really frustrating having no great functionality and the attachment issues too, I'd say iCloud mail is worse than Outlook.
    Can anyone help?

This has happened to me as well and it's making me seriously consider going back to gmail.  My pdf attachments are being received as .dat files.  Plus, just this morning a pdf that I received came over as a .dat file into my iCloud mailbox.  I forwarded the message to my gmail account and it was a perfect pdf that I opened.
I got my Mac about a year ago (which I LOVE) and I decided to go all Apple all the time.  But
-The iCloud email thing has so many quirks, like thei .dat file thing.
-The Apple maps aren't as good as the Google Maps app.  I was in NYC this weekend with the family and I tried to use both- Google just worked better (it hurts me to say that).
-I know that iCloud for documents is the wave of the future (or so they say), but Dropbox just works so effortlessly for my document storage.
-I know that iWoks is the future, but I can't collaborate with Pages-- my clients all need .doc files and I can't always export to a .doc file.  Sometimes Pages won't let me export, other times things like indentations are off. I got picked for the beta test of iWorks in the cloud and it's nice, but limited in functionality
I'm wondering if I should be all Apple devices and go back to gmail/google maps/office.  I don't want to do that- I want to be all Apple...not sure what to do because this is driving me crazy. I'm thinking of waiting for iOS7 to come out and see how it works. I know that Apple Maps is being updated too.  Not sure.
    Sorry for the rant.

  • Get file attachment list

I need a script that on file open will get the names of all attachments and add them to a listbox.

    Hi,
Perform the following steps to create a multi-file attachment in InfoPath:
Add a Repeating Table with 1 column to your InfoPath form template.
Go to the Data Source task pane and double-click the field under the repeating node for the Repeating Table.
Change the Data type to Picture or File Attachment (base 64) and click OK.
Right-click the field in the Repeating Table on the InfoPath form template, and select Change To, and then File Attachment from the context menu that appears.

  • Acrobat 9: Error when PDF form submit with file attachment

    Hi all,
Hope you can provide some help with my PDF form submit issue. I am getting this error "There is no PDDoc associated with this CosDoc." in Acrobat 9 (Reader and Pro) when I try to submit a PDF form with a file attachment field (the file is specified). The same PDF form works fine in Acrobat 7 or 8 (Reader and Pro) with file attachment.
If no file attachment is specified (user did not select a file) then the PDF form submits fine in acrobat 9. The form data submission format is in FDF. Same problem if I change to XFDF.
There are no differences in the problem if the PDF form is created in Acrobat 7 or Acrobat 9, the same submit issue exists in Acrobat 9 but not in the older Acrobat versions.
Is this a known issue and are there any workarounds/solutions?
    Thanks.

Sounds like a bug to me. Please report it: http://www.adobe.com/support/feature.html

  • File attachment in yahoo mail does not appeare in Firefox 4, but IE & other web browsers show correctly.

Before I install Firefox 4, I have been use Firefox 3.6 and when I was checking my yahoo mail, there was not any problem to view or download file attachment.
After installing Firefox 4, when I receive a new mail with file attachment, like as video, or document, I can not see the attachment to download it. but with other web browsers like IE, I can see the attachment of the email.

    Hi!
People using a Trend Micro virus scanner should disable some webmail function. You can find the solution [http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-33677-can-t-download-attachments-on-my-yahoo-email here]
I do not use Trend Micro, but have the same issues. I just found my "AdBlock Plus" add-on was stopping the attachment download. What you should do to see if this is your problem too: disable AdBlock Plus, restart firefox and see if your problem is solved. Now enable AdBlock Plus again and restart Firefox.
To fix this problem: In Firefox, click on Add-ons, go to AdBlock Plus, go to Options, click on Filters--> reset statistics. Go to your attachment, click on the attachment (it will fail to download of course). Go back to AdBlock Plus and sort the statistics for "Hits". Now you can see which filter is blocking your attachment download. Disable this filter and you problem is solved!

  • Zip file attachment errors

    Hi,
I have written a simple email client that sends a multipart message with a zip file attachment. I have written another email client that receives that email. I built it from looking at the javamail samples and the JGuru tutorial. Everything works fine on one mail host I am using, but I get errors on another email host. The two errors I see are....
    javax.mail.internet.ParseException
         at javax.mail.internet.ParameterList.<init>(ParameterList.java:61)
         at javax.mail.internet.ContentType.<init>(ContentType.java:83)
         at javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart.parse(MimeMultipart.java:269)
         at javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart.getCount(MimeMultipart.java:159)
    and...
    javax.mail.MessagingException: Missing start boundary
         at javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart.parse(MimeMultipart.java:297)
         at javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart.getCount(MimeMultipart.java:159)
both of these errors occur when I call the MultiPart.getCount() method. I have seen a lot of similar posts here, but no solution. One hint at what my problem might be is that the host that I get the error on is in Europe. The most confusing thing is that other than having a different boundary, the received message that works correctly looks identical to the one that doesn't work.
Any ideas on what the problem is?
    Thanks.

Yes, I am having the same issue. But I am seeing these issue after the exchange server is upgraded to 2003. It seems like there is an issue with Message format in Exchange 2003. Any idea what we need to do fix this issue?

I've sent psd files to various people without issues, however you might want to try something like www.filedropper.com to make sure it's not that they can't open your version of psd file.
You may also want to zip the file using the built in archiving software, simply right click (or control click) the file and choose Compress ....,  then you can email it to the person as a compressed archive.  That should preserve all the aspects of the file properly without any modifications.
