File permissions for a deployed ias 6.5 app

i am running ias 6.5 on HP-UX 11.1
I have ear files deployed on 3 different servers and all of the in house developed apps are deployed with 775 permissions.
/iplanet/ias6/ias/APPS/$APP_NAME
Such that $APP_NAME is 775 and so are all files recursively under it.
This week our developer deployed some test apps and they are deploying with 755 permissions. I then noticed that the default test apps like 'fortune' are also 755.
I want the test apps deployed as 775. Does anyone know how to control this? Outside of recursively chmod after deployment.
What causes some to deploy at 755 and some at 775?

Well, it looks like you haven't actually configured a datasource with that name. You've only configured the use of the datasource were it to exist. I don't know iPlanet, so you'll have to consult the docs to find out how to create the DS.

  • How to set default file permissions for applicatio...

I have the nokia n86 and was wondering if there was any way of setting the file permissions of a program via the phone. To put it in context, i downloaded a program that edits photos but everytime i try to load a picture from my phone it asks me (for every single folder in my phone, not just the photo ones) if the program can open it. I can be there clicking yes all day as i there is a lot of folders and subfolders on the phone. I know sony ericssons had an option where you could select the programs permissions to always ask or never ask but i cant seem to find a similar option on the nokia.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

Same issue here. Everything I put on the drive is set to Read-only for the group.

  • Aperture 3 default file permissions for referenced images

    Hi,
This might be a bit more an OS X question than an Aperture question, but perhaps asking this here might help other people with similar case.
Is there a way to change the default file permissions Aperture 3 sets for image files imported from a digital camera?
My wife and I both import photos from our camera to a directory hierarchy under /Users/Shared/Photos/, and we both have our own Aperture libraries which reference the masters from that location.
However, when one of us imports photos from the camera, the permissions for the image files are set as 600 and the permissions need to be changed into 660 (for example) or otherwise the images are not readable for the other. (In the shell umask shows 0022 by default, but as I start the Aperture from the dock, changing the umask in the shell doesn't help)

  • Windows 7 ignores file permissions for shared 10.5.8 folder

I set up a shared folder on my Mac using SMB. I also set up an account with limited privileges (read only) for accessing it. The problem is that, while the Windows 7 computer needs the account password to access the folder, once it's accessed the file permissions are completely ignored, permitting to user to change and delete files at will.
Any ideas on how to keep the folder Read-Only?

When you enter the account's password, you are logging in to the Mac as that user, which is why everything is coming up as read + write.
This article indicates that you have to provide the account name and password for SMB sharing:

  • How to set file permissions for SFTP uploaded file?

    Hello,
is it possible to set file permissions with the SDK for files uploaded via SFTP transfer? I use the default sample plugin ftp_upload.lrdevplugin to transfer the files, but would like to tweak it to set the uploaded file(s) to permission 644 (rw-,r--,r--) on Linux server. Currently the server sets new file(s) by default to 600 (rw-,---,---).
I am looking for an option to do the "chmod" directly from Lightroom without doing any modificatios in general to default umask, etc. settings on the server. No real UI is needed for this. Just hardcoded setting for 644 in the .lua.
So far I've been unsuccesful in finding the way. Googled, read this forum, looked at the API. Maybe I just missed it, or does this functionality exist?
    All advice is appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Timo

Niel's suggestion is good. You might also try posting your question in the Tiger Server forums. I'm sure Tiger Server has several ways of dealing with this.

  • OCR and Votinging Disk File Permissions for NFS 2 node RAC cluster

This is a fresh reinstall of Oracle 11gR2 Clusterware on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 64bit and I'm using NFS as my shared storage.
I've create three file systems /ocrVote01 /ocrVote02 and /ocrVote03 as NFS share and exported them to two nodes that will use them as shared OCR and Voting Disk. Currently I'm getting errors when I run root.sh
    I've done the following:

It appears that the root.sh script is trying to create a directory /ocrVote01/storage and getting permissions denied.
Any idea why Root can not create this directory?
root.sh is also getting error permission denied at /u01/gridinfra/11.2.0/GI/crs/install/crsconfiglib.pm at line 4478
Any Ideas on what file permissions should be set for /ocrVote01 /ocrVote02 and /ocrVote03 ?

Yes, you need to have db_owner permissions for the account which you are using to deploy the apps.

  • [Solved] Problem with file permissions for a group

I'm working on a simple Apache HTTP server just to get a small education in proper unix work.
To save myself sudoing everything (and generally because it seems the proper way to use unix), I'm trying to give my user control over the /srv directory. So I ran:
    - `sudo groupadd srvadmin` to create a group called srvadmin
    - `sudo chown -R :srvadmin /srv` to change the group-owner of /srv to srvadmin (and all files inside it)
    - `sudo chmod -vR g+w /srv` to give /srv and all its files group write permission
    - `sudo gpasswd -a <me> srvadmin` to add my user to the srvadmin group
But I still can't create or edit files in /srv
    "ls -l / | grep srv" gives:
    drwxrwxr-x 4 root srvadmin 4096 Dec 19 17:44 srv
all the files and directories inside /srv also have group write permissions and are owned by user "root" and group "srvadmin"
"cat /etc/group | grep srv" gives:
    srvadmin:x:1000:<me>
However, possibly herein lies a clue:
    "id" gives:
    uid=1000(<me>) gid=100(users) groups=100(users),7(lp),10(wheel),50(games),91(video),92(audio),93(optical),95(storage),96(scanner),98(power)
That is, "id" doesn't tell me I'm in the srvadmin group.
It seems like there's an important concept about groups and permissions that I'm not getting, but reading several man and wiki pages hasn't enlightened me. Could anyone suggest what I'm missing?
    Thanks.

Ok, this is pretty embarrassing given the parallels with the topic of this thread, but I coudn't edit the title (which is the reason for my earlier remark; I assumed I didn't have permission)!
The text box was un-editable (not "disabled", I just couldn't edit the text in it). I managed to change it in the end by deleting all the text and typing a new title. I think it may have been just because the title was at the exact character limit.

  • Setting file permissions for 'wheel' group files

I have a bunch of files I copied from my PC when I made the transition to my Mac. I'm having problems moving or backing up many of the files apparently because the Mac has set the group for these files to 'wheel' and I'm not sure how to change them back. My efforts to chown or chgrp the files always result in "Operation not permitted" error messages.
I have been able to select a file at a time in the finder and use the get-info option to change the permissions, but I need to do this for thousands of files and it takes too long manually.

  • File Permissions for iTunes U - cgi directory

I am attempting to link the PERL script for access to iTunesU to a local Open Directory. When I click on the link to the script, I am asked to enter my username and password. I try to enter one of the accounts from the same server but nothing authenticates. The login just fails.
The error reads "This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested."
How can I get the script to authenticate using an account on the local server?

This is OS X server? ... or Apache running on a Linux/BSD/other *nix box?
To run a CGI script, you have to change permissions so that the web server can run the script. Something like:
    chmod a+x script-name.pl
    should do the trick.

  • How to set permissions for files created by Windows on OS 10.8 volume

I am in process of upgrading from an iMac with OS 10.6 to an iMac with OS 10.8.  In my office network, I store all files on my iMac and let the Windows PCs act as workstations to read/write onto the Mac.  (It's simpler to have all files centralized in one location, and only have to be concerned about backing up one volume.)
When I had OS 10.4 and OS 10.6 any newly created file saved by the Windows PCs onto the Mac could be opened by the Mac.
But with OS 10.8, I can not open newly created files from Windows.  The file permissions for the newly created files from the Windows PCs are:
         PCUser = read/write;  Everyone = no access.
What do I need to do so that newly created files from the Windows PC (currently Windows 7) can be opened by the Mac, without having to use Get Info to reset the permissions each time?

You could try adding this Access Control Entry (ACE) to the folders you let them save to:
    sudo chmod -R +a "accountinggroup allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,add_subdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /Path/to/topmost/folder
You first need to create a group for all the sharing people you want to have access to that folder, if you don't already have one. In the example, "accountinggroup" is the group, so change that to whatever you want to use.
The ACE allows them full access to the files in the folders. If you want to limit that, remove the option (such as delete).
You create Groups in Users & Groups System Preference just like creating a new user. Just change the account type to Group.
If you want a GUI to do the settings, try Sandbox.  It's got a few glitches in the Interface, but it seems to write the ACL correctly. One glitch is selecting the Group or User. I had just a list of Continuing in the popup menu. I typed in the Group name I wanted and it worked. Some errors pop up as you traverse the file hierarchy, but you can dismiss them.
Here is an old hint, which gives a little background, and some other options: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20090219133314985
The Server tools would allow you to set this up more easily, but if this is all you need as the server, I don't know if it is worth it.

  • Files to download without any permissions for guest user.

Hello, i have created a KM Navi Iview, with path to /documents/.../...
    When i go to
http://portal/irj/portal/anonymous i see a list of files, but i can copy, delete and rename files (permissions for guest are: read), how can i solve this, if i need only download permissions for guest?

    Hello Artem,
Please do not remove the Guest User from its groups.
The Guest User is an integral part of the "Anonymous Users" group which ultmately falls under "Everyone" Group. How did you remove Guest User as only Config tool allows you to do that.
What I suggest is make a Portal Group of Users and add all your regular users to it. Give Read/Write permission to this group. Then add only Read permissions for Anonymous Users Group.
    Hope this helped.

  • File permissions in Lifecycle module

I am creating some JMX Beans to manage my applications objects (Cache, Workflow process instantiations etc). When one of the beans is trying to create a file I get the following error.

  • Defining NTFS Permissions for High Volume Security

The default NTFS file permissions for the boot volume in Windows 8.1 appear to give Modify access to "Authenticated Users".   That is really permissive.   I have a lot of folders I do not want anyone not authenticated as Administrator
to touch.   Of course I could change every folder manually and test for side effects, but I am hoping someone has already tested this and has published a document.   I am looking for a detailed description of how to secure the volume so that ordinary
users cannot modify attributes, filenames, or data for most files on the volume.
    Will

Ronald, thanks for your reply.  Now we are talking the right topic.
    1) How did you modify the root permissions?  One way to do that might be to remove Modify and Create authority for the "Authenticated Users" entity and replace that with just Read & Execute.
    2) I understand that Microsoft tightened things to prevent normal users from having modify access inside subfolders.   This works fine for well behaved applications that use things like the "Program Files" subfolder.   Unfortunately, many
applications are badly behaved and put themselves directly under the root of the boot volume.  AMD for example puts its video drivers in c:\amd by default.     Since that folder inherits from the root, and the root gives permissive access to
users to create and modify files, now many sensitive DLLs in this install folder could be easily modified by any user.
One of the worst viruses I ever had was a denial of service virus that acted simply by hiding every single file on your file system.   We had locked down NTFS permissions but had forgotten to lock down file attributes.   It took forever to recover
    from that.
So, bottom line, I like to run as tight a file security as possible, and I like to stay logged in as a normal user and greatly restrict what normal users can change.
Microsoft definitely tightened things up in Windows 8 and that's great.
