File read adapter issue

Hi,
1. Instead of reading file from local pc I need to read from server. how do I do that.
2. Or when I tried to deploy the bpel process(that reads file from local pc) in bpel server, it gives error saying invalid input directory.
Thanks, Ram

Hi Ram,
1) if u want to read the file from the remote machine then you have to use FTP
adapter. N you have to install FTP Server on the Remote machine.
2) You are getting the error saying "invalid input directoy" coz i think you have
specified the local directory in File Adapter wizard 'n you are deploying tht
process on some other machine. Is tht the case..???

  • Input file size limition in File Reader Adapter

    Hi,
    We have a File Read Activity(using File Reader Adapter) which works on a Polling model. Whenever a input file is found in a designated directory it invokes our BPEL web service. During load testing we found out that if input file size exceeds 7 MB then we get "insufficient heap space" error. We found a reference to this size limitation in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11036_01/integrate.1013/b28994.pdf which has below lines..
    "Files that are 7MB or larger in size cannot be delivered. As an alternative, you can debatch large files (if they have multiple messages), and publish these files in messages of size less than 7 MB. This alternative is applicable only to structured files (comma-delimited or fixed position), which contain more than one message. It is not applicable to binary or XML files."
    Our customer will have the data in XML format and the size of the files will be pretty huge(running into 49, 69 MBs). Do we have any workaround here or we are left with no option but to ask the customer to split the files and load it? The later option is currently difficult one for the customer since when split there is a possibility of XML becoming invalid. Any pointers in this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Balaji

    Hi,
    BPEL can not process more than 7 MB size xml structred file. but,debatching will work for xml files also provided if the file has repeated multiple structures (means multiple repeated root elements).

  • How to ensure File Read Adapter handles like SQLLOADER's TRAILING NULLCOLS

    I have to read a CSV file which has a specific format but sometimes the trailing columns values can be missing and i would like to handle it in such way that they values are treated as null. This is similar to the SQLLoader's TRAILING NULLCOLS clause.
    Currently if my data is as shown below:
    As-Of Date,As-Of-Time,Bank ID,Bank Name,State,Acct No,Acct Type,Acct Name,Currency,BAI Type Code,Tran Desc,Debit Amt,Credit Amt,0 Day Flt Amt,1 Day Flt Amt,2+ Day Flt Amt,Customer Ref No,Value Date,Location,Bank Reference,Tran Status,Descriptive Text,Descriptive Text1,Descriptive Text2,Descriptive Text3,Descriptive Text4,Descriptive Text5,Descriptive Text6

    We get around 1000-2000 records in that CSV from the Bank and they cant change the way they are sending the file. So , please help in resolving this issue.

    Hi thanks for the reply
    well i've been having a play around but haven't got it to work yet,
    Here's what i have so far
    private void jButton2MouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent evt) {
             BufferedReader  sb = new BufferedReader();
           sb.append(""+jTextField1.setText()+",");
           sb.append(""+jFormattedTextField1.setText()+"\n");
           sb.append(""+jTextField2.setText()+",");
           sb.append(""+jFormattedTextField2.setText()+"\n");
           sb.append(""+jTextField3.setText()+",");
           sb.append(""+jFormattedTextField3.setText()+"\n");
           sb.append(""+jTextField4.setText()+",");
           sb.append(""+jFormattedTextField4.setText()+"\n");
           sb.append(""+jTextField5.setText()+",");
           sb.append(""+jFormattedTextField5.setText()+"\n");
           ReadFromFile(sb.toString());
        private void ReadFromFile(String s) {
            try {
            BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("/users/data.txt"));
            String str;
            while ((str = in.readLine()) != null) {
                Process(str);
            in.close();
        } catch (IOException e) {
        }// TODO add your handling code here:
                    }im thinking the problem is the parts that say sb.append but i don't know what to in it's place?

  • File Read Adapter

    I have got a requirement where I will be having a synchronous process which takes a file name as input and my process as to read that file.
    How should I create the file adapter without having the knowledge of the file name?

    The concern I have is that in your question it looks like you have a sync process call another BPEl process which calls the file adapter.
    I don't know what functionality you are trying to acheive but I suggest the that File adapter is used to invoke the process, not the sync process. Therefore you can use the file adapter hearders to get the file names etc.
    cheers

  • Issue in Synchronous File Read in clustered environment

    Hi,
    We are using clustered environment (4 managed servers) in Unix. In a OSB 11gR3 proxy service we are using Synchronous File Read. Randomly we are getting the below error. Let us know what could cause the issue. But the same code is working fine in a single stand-alone server configuration.

    I face the same issue and I have given all permissions to the folder for OS user.
    Because of this error my server is not starting up . Is there any way I can undeploy this composite to get my server running.
    I cant do this from EM because SOA server is failing to start up.
    I have tried removing it from $DOMAIN_HOME/deployed-composites but still when i try restarting the soa server the composite comes up there. Do we need to delete the entry some where else too. Kindly help.
    Thanks,

  • A serious issue with excel file read in ODI

    hi gurus,
    Issue with excel file read is that we can read only one file by setting the path from ODBC Data Source Administrator-->System DNS -->Select Work book
    what i want to read the dynamic path(Every time I cant go back and set the Work book to select the excel file..
    So i came up with a solution to write a Vbscript that convert the excel to csv my problem got solved for dynamic paths the script is as follow:
    Set objArgs = WScript.Arguments
    For I = 0 to objArgs.Count - 1
    FullName = objArgs(I)
    FileName = Left(objArgs(I), InstrRev(objArgs(I), ".") )
    Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.application")
    set objExcelBook = objExcel.Workbooks.Open(FullName)
    objExcel.application.visible=false
    objExcel.application.displayalerts=false
    objExcelBook.SaveAs FileName & "csv",23
    objExcel.Application.Quit
    objExcel.Quit
    Set objExcel = Nothing
    set objExcelBook = Nothing
    Next
    Now this script convert the xls file to csv with comma seprated values
    e.g in excel sheet if data is ABC XYZ PQR
    csv will come with ABC,XYZ,PQR
    here the delimiter is , i want the delimiter as pipe | who's ascii code is 124
    but if i change 23 with 124 its not working i getting the error cannot save as...
    can anyone tell me that what should be the correct code for pipe
    so that the output is ABC|XYZ|PQR
    AS WE CAN USE THE SCRIPTS IN TOOLS

    I dont have the answer for your question but i have different approach in handling multiple Excel File.
    Step 1. Copy a sample source Excel File and Call it Final.xls .
    Step 2. Map this Final.xls to DSN and in Topology call this Final.xls
    Step 3. Do the Reversing and Map and test the Interface . Once its done.
    Step 4. Create a Package and using a http://odiexperts.com/?p=1426 get the list of all the Excel File
    Step 5 . Using this http://odiexperts.com/?p=273 create a Loop to Read the Excel File name
    Step 6 . Copy using OdiFileCopy to Final.xls and run your interface .
    Step 7. Increment the Loop and copy your next File for Final and run the interface
    Step 8 . Finally you will be able to read all the Excel File .
    Step 9 . Delete the source file [ Optional ]
    Hope this helps.

  • File Sender adapter not reading the first line

    Hi,
    I have a scenario configured from file to jdbc adapter.
    However, I found a problem in my file sender adapter. My file adpater always not picking up the first line from my text even I have set the 'Document Offset' to 0.
    Any Ideas? Thanks.

    Hi Latika Sethi,
    My complete input text file is as below, it contains only 2 testing records:-
    H1|DIZ1                          |A0016507    |10000020|09/2007
    H2|ABC0001

    D|D|0002|Denda              |   2,000.00
    D|P|0003|Elaun               |   2,000.00
    After the message mapping, I found the pipeline existed in sxmb_moni as below:-

    There are 2 payslips as for the top payslip node...Header1 tag is missing. It means that during the file sender step....the first line of my record which is :-
    "H1|DIZ1                          |A0016507    |10000020|09/2007"
    is not read into the xi pipeline. Basically this is the problem i faced.
    Has somebody facing the same problem before? Currently I have no choice but moved the First line of the text into Second line and left the first line of the text become null/ empty line. As such both records can be successfully read by the XI.
    However what I wondered is sometimes clients will do insert the records into the first line and this might made some data loss.
    Thanks...

    (u201CAttempt to process file failed with com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.xi.swift.ParserException: com.sap.xi.swift.ParserException: Message does not start with character '0x1f'u201D).
    Please let me know the procedure to get this message processed.
    Thanks & Rgards

    Hi Vishu,
    Find out in what encoding the file is in. for that download Notepad++ and open the file with in.
    In Encoding tab you will see the encoding format.
    1. If its not UTF-8 or ANSI then you should set the correct encoding in Sender File channel.
    2. Check for BOM characters which will not be visible directoly.
    3. Use Notepad++ to convert the content to HEX and check for hidden values. i bet there will be some Encoding BOM in the file which is creating problem while picking the file.
    Since you are using SWIFT module: try to validate the XML file using Altova XML and check weather is correct.

  • PS CS3, Camera Raw 4.6 Update and Nikon D810 NEF File Reading Issue

      Currently Have Photoshop CS3 & Adobe Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9.
    According to Adobe, Camera Raw 4.6 supports Nikon D810 NEF files.  I have downloaded Camera Raw 4.6 Update. When
    I try to open Nikon D810 NEF files, I get Photoshop CS3  error that says
    "cannot complete request your because it is not the right kind of
    document. These NEF files wont open in Adobe Bridge at all.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hey,
    Before I purchased, let me get your thoughts on another option that just occurred to me which involves:
    1)Editing my D810 NEF files in LR 5.6, which I have, then exporting/saving the edited files as JPEGs.
    2) Doing any additional editing, as necessary (i.e. that might require layering or selections..etc) , with the JPEGs  with Bridge or PS CS3.
    This method wont involve any additional software purchase now.. right?    Am I missing anything.   here?    Since my final output to my customers are JPEGs any way, wont this work?   Will I be at any disadvantage.   Am I missing anything.   here?

  • Counting number of files read by File adapter

    I have configured a file adapter in a BPEL prcs to read files from a location. The adapter is polling files with a specific file ext(say txt). Is it possible to know the number of files read by the BPEL prcs at the end of the day??? i,e.
    is it possible that a BPEL instance after reading a file updates the count in a variable and this variable value is seen by other BPEL instances and the other instances can also update the value....
    Any pointers will be helpful...
    Thanks

    You could make use of some logtable and log it inhere.
    In the bpel after a file is pickup up, read this value from the table, add 1 to it, and write it back.
    Or try this approach from Lucas :

  • Passing file read location as a parameter or dynamica to FTP write adapter.

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement to FTP files to a location. We are planning to use FTP adapter in SOA 11g.
    But our requirement is to pass the file read location as a parameter as in case of failure we are planning to read file from the archive location.
    But FTP location to which file is written or ftped will always remain constant. Only the read location from which this file is picked needs to be dynamic.
    Any pointers on this will be of great help.
    Thanks,
    Sowmya

    Hi,
    In 11g we can pass filename and directory name at runtime through properties on receive activity.
    If you double click on the Receive activity (connecting to file Adapter), then on Properties tab, you will find three properties jca.file.Directory, jca.file.Filename and jca.file.Size. Select the property which ever you want and assign variable/expression to it.
    Value assigned to Variable can be passed runtime as an input to the process.

  • Synchronous File Read on Invoke Problem

    I am trying to invoke file adapter to read the file once(Synchronous File Read) as described in Bpeltechadapter guide.
    Read about Synchronous File Reading Capability here download.oracle.com/otndocs/products/bpel/bpeltechadp.pdf
    Also read this: Re: Help! Three questions about FileAdapater. .
    I get this process generation failed when i try to build it. The Empty_msg in inputvariable of invoke works but problem is with Charges_msg in output variable.
    I am sure its something to do with ns but not getting it to work.

    Thanks,

  • File Sender Adapter - Dinamic Source Directory and Filename

    Hi Experts,
    I have to receive in XI a file and depeding of some info, put it in diferent directories with diferent fieldnames.
    In receiver File Adapter we can set the directory and fieldname dinamically by ABAP-CLASS mapping, but not in Sender.
    I've read Michal's blog
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/10/xi-the-same-filename-from-a-sender-to-a-receiver-file-adapter--sp14
    and sap help
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/03612cdecc6e76e10000000a422035/frameset.htm
    But, I can't find Adapter-Specific Message Attributes in my File Adapter...:-) I've checked SP version is SP16, where are my Adapter-Specific Message Attributes?
    How can I set Directory and Fieldname at runtime for Sender File Adapter?
    Please help...
    Thanks all in advance,
    Regards.
    Urtzi.

    Hi Nilesh,
    Your threath is not about my issue...
    Answering to other friends, what I want is not to write p.e.: '/server/dir/' in each File Sender Adapter Channel, and put it with any other way looking some 'customizing' or checking a condition.
    The problem is that frecuently in the Company changes servers and we have to enter to the Directory and change every Channel one by one...We would like to reduce the maintain of the Channels with a mapping, variable, customizing table...or something similar. Do I explain?
    I don't know if its possible but I had the hope...:-)
    Thanks all.
    Urtzi.

  • Semantics File Sender Adapter to determine which files to retrieve

    Hallo,
    does anybody has experience with this semantic?
    Thanks in advance,
    Frank
    From the FAQ-List of file-adapter(Note 821267 , Question 27).
    Q: Which semantics does the File Sender Adapter apply to determine which files to retrieve from an FTP server?
    A: Up to and including SP13 the File Adapter will issue an NLST command (see RFC 959) with the configured source file name scheme as first parameter to the FTP server. It will try to retrieve any of the files returned by the FTP server in response to this command.
    Starting with SP14, the File Adapter will issue a LIST command with the configured source file name scheme as first parameter to the FTP server. If it is able to parse the returned result (which is the case for UNIX- and Windows-style directory listings), it will retrieve any of the returned files. If it cannot parse the result, it will fall back to the pre-SP14 implementation and use the NLST command as described above.

    Frank
    We are on SP12 and have had problems with this and specifically, the FTP server on Solaris, not being fully RFC959 compliant.
    We've had to get a different FTP Server as we were returned *.xml no file or folder found instead of 550 *.xml no file or folder found.
    This increased the polling to the server, and filled up the ftp logging file, which intern filled up the partition and crasehd the server.
    We got round this by installing http://www.proftpd.org/
