File Transfer non-unicode - unicode via client

Hello.
I downloaded a binary file from a SAP 4.0 system to my client (win2k) with OPEN DATASET (to read the file on the app server) and WS_DOWNLOAD (to save it to the client).
Now i want to upload this file from my client to a 6.40 unicode system. Therefore i do the following:
- GUI_UPLOAD to get the file from the client into an internal table
- OPEN DATASET dsn FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE to save the contents of the internal table to the file system of the app server.
This works pretty well on non-unicode systems but does not work properly for unicode systems.
Which options do i have to use? Anything with code pages?!

check out the <b>OPEN DATASET - Mode - {TEXT MODE ENCODING {DEFAULT|UTF-8|NON-UNICODE}} </b> option .
The additions after ENCODING determine in which character representation the content of the file is handled.
DEFAULT
In a Unicode system, the designation DEFAULT corresponds to the designation UTF-8, and the designation NON-UNICODE in a non-Unicode system.
UTF-8
The characters in the file are handled according to the Unicode character representation UTF-8.
NON-UNICODE
In a non-Unicode system, the data is read or written without being converted. In a Unicode system, the characters in the file are handled according to the non-Unicode-codepage that would be assigned to the current text environment according to the database table TCP0C, at the time of reading or writing in a non-Unicode system.
Check out the ABAP Key Word Documentation .

iPhone contacts: file transfer to Windows 7 via USB-cable
My iPhone can communicate with the computer only via USB-cable (no mobile data, no bluetooth, no internet, no outlook). As I want to get the phone to the "doctor" I want to save specifically my contact data and calendar details on the computer (OS: Windows 7). How can I solve this task? I will appreciate your valuable information, thanks.

Using the iPhone, the USB cable, iTunes and Windows Contacts, sync the iPhone contacts to Windows Contacts. That will save them there. They are also included in the iPhone backup made in iTunes, and if you use iCloud.
I'm sorry, I missed the calendar part the first time I looked. For calendar, you need a supported application on the computer (Outlook) or if you use iCloud, you can use the iCloud contacts and calendar app to sync.

  • Simple PRC file transfer between devices or via PC not so simple, sigh.

Greeting, this is my first post so excuse me if I make some faux pas.
I was unpleasantly surprised how difficult, almost imposible it is to take a [custom] PRC off one Palm device and put it on a second, even using a Windows PC as the intermediary.
The devices use Palm 4.1 OS and are bar code scanners, SPT1800, made by Symbol and now legacy devices since Motorola bought them out.
So one PRC is a tiny program that allows the main program to be downloaded via a network. Without this tiny program, can't get the devices to do anything.
I tried terminal programs and what not. I can talk to the devices via COM1 and even 9600 n81, a simple protocol. They do have some kind of binary file transfer capability. But I cannot even get a Directory listing, nothing from the Palm device. That file capability is simple not there. Really surprised me.
Desktop software is useless so far, from Symbol/Motorola. Have not tried Palm's but it looks almost identical and only allows PRC to be transferred to the device for installation, not vice versa.
I am trying to avoid installing linux and using pilot-xfer only because that takes a couple of days before I can download and debug everything. But Pilot can make a backup of the Palm device, purportedly, any Palm device just about.
Any suggestions? Pilot-xfer is still not ready for Windows?
I am using Windows XP Pro with the Com1 port. I did try Telnet and a Terminal program but I cannot get the Palm device to do much.
I guess they did this on purpose so the files can't be messed up?
Anyway to just make a backup of the regular memory, not the ROM?
I have emailed a few Palm service companies if they can sell me a program to do this but I doubt they will. We did send some Palm devices out to one of these companies and it's almost 2 months now. It's murder.
    Thanks, AdamPalm

Your references are appreciated. I look forward to testing this out. It's interesting how complicated this gets and all the little deadly false steps. For example, I use 98se and XP Pro mostly [Win 2000 and linux sometimes]. I shut down the serial ports. No problem I thought. I just open them up when I need COM1 and that particular IRQ.
BIG PROBLEM NOW. Machine can't work now with COM1 in 98se. That IRQ is not moving back. XP PRO does not have this problem since presumably lots of IRQs and not used that much.
This complete collapse of the computer with something as dumb as enabling/disabling COM ports in the BIOS has me gobsmacked. It's so bad it's funny. Never saw this problem before in all the various operating systems. I better not see this again. I might really go over to linux as soon as I figure out how to play all those proprietary formats that don't play in linux.
What should take minutes will probably take days to sort out all the problems.
Do others encounter this too? Sorry to whine but that's fun too.
Thanks for all the comments fellow. Appreciated.

  • Blackberry File Transfer

The blackberry site hasn't helped, so I'm coming to a site that's actually set up to help people. I have the Pearl linked via bluetooth to my PowerMac G5, but can't actually get files to transfer. In the bluetooth file exchange application, I try to send files to the device or browse the device and the blackberry doesn't seem to be able to communicate. Has anyone had any luck with the Pearl in particular? Or even any blackberry?
    Thanks for the continued help.

Your Blackberry device may not have the required Bluetooth profiles to support such options.
Look under the Devices tab of the Bluetooth pane in System Preferences to see what profiles and services are available with your device. Here is an example of what a typical handset offers:
    Device Name: Nokia 6086
    Device Address: 00-19-79-xx-xx-xx
    Device Type: Phone
Device Services: Dial-up networking, Nokia PC Suite, COM 1, Voice Gateway, Audio Gateway, Network Access Point Service, OBEX Object Push, OBEX File Transfer, Nokia SyncML Server, SyncML Client, Music-Player, Media Player, Media Player, SIM ACCESS
    Paired: Yes
    Configured: Yes
    Favorite: Yes
    Connected: No
    Serial Port: Yes
You will need several in order to transfer files, including the OBEX—or, OBject EXchange—profile. You might also want to take a look at what sort of data synchronization and exchange options are available from a product like the Missing Sync for Blackberry.

  • Gettin data from SAP R/3 4.7 unicode sys to SAP ERP non-unicode sys via RFC

We are trying to get data from SAP R/3 4.7 unicode sys to SAP ERP non-unicode sys via RFC. We are reading field from the database via FM and this field got converted by SAP standard Method (CL_ABAP_CONTAINER_UTILITIES=>fill_CONTAINER_C) from structure. When reading this field from ERP sys and converted back to structure using SAP standard Method the value is un-accurate, and different(blank) giving values.
How, if the data originally was a char or numeric it works fine, but not for decimal.

I have a range fields with different type of ranges, am saving these to the database by converting them to a string via the same method. I got the same problem so I tried to convert the string to xstring using function “SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING”, before send it to the other system, but the function raised an exception: CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE

  • SIK Transport files and None unicode SAP system

    Dear all,
I have a question about SIK Transport files.
As you know, when we install BOE SIK,we need transport some files into SAP system.
There is  a TXT file for describing how to use SIK transport files in SAP system.
I found that there is no detail about none unicode SAP system in this TXT file.
All of them is about unicode.
If your SAP system is running on a BASIS system earlier than 6.20, you must use the files listed below:
    (These files are ANSI.)
Open SQL Connectivity transport (K900084.r22 and R900084.r22)
Info Set Connectivity transport (K900085.r22 and R900085.r22)
    Row-level Security Definition transport (K900086.r22 and R900086.r22)
Cluster Definition transport (K900093.r22 and R900093.r22)
Authentication Helpers transport (K900088.r22 and R900088.r22)
If your SAP system is running on a 6.20 BASIS system or later, you must use the files listed below:
    (These files are Unicode enabled.)
Open SQL Connectivity transport (K900574.r21 and R900574.r21)
Info Set Connectivity transport (K900575.r21 and R900575.r21)
    Row-level Security Definition transport (K900576.r21 and R900576.r21)
Cluster Definition transport (K900585.r21 and R900585.r21)
Authentication Helpers transport (K900578.r21 and R900578.r21)
The following files must be used on an SAP BW system:
    (These files are Unicode enabled.)
Content Administration transport (K900579.r21 and R900579.r21)
    Personalization transport (K900580.r21 and R900580.r21)
MDX Query Connectivity transport (K900581.r21 and R900581.r21)
ODS Connectivity transport (K900582.r21 and R900582.r21)
If our SAP BASIS system  is beyond 6.20,but iit is not unicode system.
Could we use these transport files to none unicode SAP system ?
    Thanks!
    Wayne

    Hi Wayne,
the text and the installation guide is clearly advising based on the version of your underlying BASIS system and differentiates 620 or 640 and higher.
so based on the fact that you system is a BI 7 system you are in the category of a 640 (or higher) basis system and therefore you have to use the Unicode ENABLED transports.

  • File transfer status in rxvt-unicode?

    Hello,
I had mounted a cifs and had been copying some movies from one of my computers to another through the terminal (mount -t cifs comp1:/share/ ~/somemntpoint) and I realized that I had no idea about the status of the file transfer.  Is there an additional package or some other way to display the status of a file transfer (mv or cp) in rxvt-unicode?  I am just looking for something similar to the status bar you get when you use pacman ( [###-------------]).
After poking around the internet and the arch forums for a bit I was unable to find a solution.  Hopefully this is not a stupid question.

You could have started with mv -v pr cp -v. Really doesn't matter what terminal emulator you use. Other than that I have no clue. You could check documentation for mv and cp to see if they respond to signals, although a quick browse didn't have any luck.
    alias cp='cp -v'
    alias mv='mv -v'
I have this in my ~/.bashrc for this reason.

  • How to check whether a file in AL11 is unicode or non-unicode

    Hi All,
I have a file in AL11. Now before using open dataset, i need to check whether it is unicode or not. By doing this we will know what encoding format needs to be used with open dataset statement.
Do we have any way by which we can programatically check whether a file in AL11 is unicode or not.

  • Upgrade 4.6C to ECC 6.0; Unicode - non-Unicode -- Unicode

    Hi,
My client has a R/3 4.6c UNICODE, he wants to upgrade to ECC6.0 UNICODE.
According to a SAP document, to upgrade, I upgrade directly to ECC 6.0 NON_UNICODE then convert the system to ECC 6.0 UNICODE.
    I'm wonder why Unicode -> non-Unicode --> Unicode.
    Regards,
    Toan Do

"4.6C is not a unicode system ,ecc6.0 is an unicode system."
Actually, ECC 6.0 only has to be unicode if you are a new installation.  If you are upgrading from a non-unicode system, you can upgrade to a non-unicode ECC 6.0 system, this is fully supported by SAP.
However, it is recommended that you perform the upgrade and unicode conversion at the same time. SAP is going to force us to unicod some day anyway.
We have just completed a technical upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6 non-unicode, and now we are looking at a unicode conversion project.  It would have added time to the original upgrade project, but it would have been worth it.

  • How to transfer files into Time Capsule server via ethernet?

    Hello,
I intend to use my Time Capsule as to perform backups and a file server. I have been using it for backups only and now I want to move files from my external hard drive into the TC for storage so that I would be able to stream the files over wireless connection. I have bought a thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter and plugged it in between my TC and my MacBook Air to enable fast transfer of files and backups. I am however baffled when I found out the transfer of files (900 gb) is going to take approximately 78 days to complete. It seems to me that the file transfer is going on over wireless connection instead of thunderbolt gigabit ethernet connection by default when the adapter is plugged in. Appreciate if someone could guide me through to solve the problem.
Note: All softwares are up-to-date and my wireless connection is a shared wireless connection, meaning that my TC only serves a backup station.

    Mount the TC disk manually.
In Finder use Go, Connect to server.
    Type in the following.
AFP://TCname.local (TCname is the actual network name of the TC. I strongly recommend you use SMB names.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric)
Find out the Network version of the TC name if you don't want to comply to the above rule. The best way is to discover it via netstat scan.
    Open network utility.
Locate your TC on it.. since my TC is correctly named it shows up as tcgen4.local
    I then type in AFP://tcgen4.local
Then the computer can discover the TC and it will ask for a password. The default is public
Type in whatever you changed it to or public.
The TC disk should now be mounted.
If this fails.. reset the TC to factory and start over. Name it correctly.. all short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric will be a lot lot easier.
    Then manually force the mounting.
