  • Problem using File upload in portlets

    hello there
    I'm trying to use file upload component in one of my portlets. I searched a lot about a working component to be used in portlets since the standard one that comes with JSC doesn't work in portlets. I managed to get commons file upload and tomahawk to run in my portlet, but when I choose a file and try to get selected file's details it throughs a NullPointerException reporting that the file object is null.
    so please can anyone guide me to a working portlet example, I tried to find one but I couldn't. if that's hard to find, what should I do ?
    thank you in advance

    I added file upload component in JSF from portlets in Sun Java Portal server.
    Take a look...

  • File upload JSP

    Yet again the issue of file upload...?:|
    I am trying to use a file upload as part of my screenflow.
    I besically have 2 jsp files. jsp file upload code and the supporting HTML.
    I created 2 "interactive component calls", connected with a transition and in the 1st one I call one JSP and in the 2nd one the other JSP.
    My action on my HTML is action="fileupload.jsp" (my upload code file) I try changing it to action="&lt;f:postResults /&gt;" but that didnt work
    Then I changed my action to "&lt;f:postResults fowardUrl="fileupload.jsp"/&gt; I got an error on that too.
    Anyone can help with that issue? I am besically tring to do a simple file upload from my sub-process.
    Thank You

  • Upload file form problem in JSP portlet !!!

    Hi!
    I use "OrdHttpUploadFile" class for upload file in JSP portlet to database!
    Problem is that this class must use FORM ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" whis I suppose dont work in portlet!?
    Which FORM ENCTYPE should I use in portlet! Or there is some other solution for upload file in JSP portlet!?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for u r reply Mr.Prasad.
    Sorry for the delay for reply.
    My scenario is in 2 phases
    Phase 1. I am taking input from the front end using jsp and writing the contents in to a file and then downloading that file on to my desktop.(Now let us say this one as file downloading)
    Phase 2. Now I had designed a page,which locates the downloaded file by using the following tag.
                        <td><input type ="file" name ="xmlFileName"></td>
        In the downloaded xml file I am having applicationid. I am checking whether the application id already xists in the database (or)not.
    If already exists in the database , the end user will get one confirmation msg,saying application already exists in the database.
    If the user clicks ok again the request has to go to the servlet.
    Now the actual problems are
    1. When I locate the file on the desktop let us say c:\desktop\krish and click on submit button, it is locating to the file that is present in the server(this is the case for the first time means before checking the application id in the database).
    2. when the end user clicks "ok" on the confirmation box , I am not getting the file name,that has to be submitted to the servlet.
    Can u plz help me how to resolve this issue.
    regards,
    Krish

  • WSRP and File Uploads

    Hello,
    I am using BEA 8.1 SP4.
    I am trying to find out the status of being able to do file uploads in portlets being displayed remotely. I have a JSR-168 portlet which simply does a file upload to the server. The JSP page that renders the content contains:
    <form name="ont_mainform" method="post" action="<%=portletURI%>" enctype="multipart/form-data">
    When I have the same portlet running remotely in another portal via WSRP, I get the error:
    java.lang.Exception: The request does not contain a multipart/form-data or multipart/mixed stream. Content type = null
    Does anyone know whether WSRP is not able to handle file uploads in the web service call just yet or is there something I need to do to get it to work? Or is this a container issue?
    Thanks for any thoughts - Peter Len

    Hi Peter,
    By default, the consumer reads the MIME message, sends it to the
    producer over SOAP, and the producer then recreates the stream for the
    portlet. So, the boundary strings and the headers may not be the same.
    WLP8.1SP4 also supports a mode wherein the uploaded data is transported
    as a MIME attachment. For this enable accepts-mime to "true" and
    transport="attachment" on the producer side in wsrp-producer-config.xml.
    Here is a sample snippet.
    <markup secure="false" rewrite-urls="true"
    transport="string" accepts-mime="false"/>
    Can you try this configuration and see if it works differently.

    Subbu,
    This is a re-copy of my last reply as it looks like the line breaks did not take.
    Okay, I have run across something else which is another oddity. In the code that deals with the commons-fileupload.
    I have the following code:
    int boundaryIndex = contentType.indexOf("boundary="); byte[] boundary = contentType.substring(boundaryIndex +
    9).getBytes();
    InputStream input = req.getPortletInputStream(); MultipartStream multi = new MultipartStream(input,
    boundary);
    boolean nextPart = multi.skipPreamble();
    // some print statements
    When running the portlet locally I get:
    Boundary Index: 21
    Boundary Array: [B@1cccea2
    InputStream: weblogic.servlet.internal.ServletInputStreamImpl@111fae9 MultipartStream: boundary='[B@17002a1' bufSize=4096 skipPreamble?: true
    When running it remotely I get:
    Boundary Index: 21
    Boundary Array: [B@737d8a
    InputStream: com.bea.wsrp.producer.container.MultipartInputStream@3708e6 MultipartStream: boundary='[B@12952ec' bufSize=4096 skipPreamble?: false
    There seems to be a difference in what the InputStream object is. The key here is that the skipPreamble boolean is false for the remote portlet and that essentially keeps the code from downloading anything. Not sure if this is a commons-fileupload thing or not. Do you know of another fileupload API that you know works with remote portlets?
    Thanks - Peter

  • File Upload problem: JSF, IBM WPS and Portlet - Please HELP Vey Very Urgent

    I want to upload a file from the front end using JSF and Portlets deployed on IBM WebSphere Portal.
    I have used Apache's commons file upload functionality as the file upload provided in JSF doesnot work with portlets and the action event is not invoked If I keep enctype="multipart/form-data". So I included 3 forms in my Faces JSP file.
    1) h:form = For displyign error message on screen
    2) html:form = Include the enctype="multipart/form-data" and the input type file for uploading. And a submit button
    3) h:form: Here I have a command link which is remotely excuted on click of sumit button in my html form. This is to invoke the action event in the pagecode to get the bean value from the context.
    Now in the my doView method in the portlet, isMultipartContent(httpservletrequest) always returns null as the content type is text/html and not multipart. Onclick of the submit button in the the html form I am calling a javascript function which sets the __LINK_TARGET__ to the command link in the 3rd h:form which will call the page code.
    The problem here is action is invoked only when I return false from the above javascript else it will trigger for the first time and from second time onwards it will not invoke the action event in the pagecode method. Whent the javascript function returns false, the content type is always text/html. However if I return "true" from the javascript the content type is multipart/form-data, but the action is not triggered for the second time. So basically when the javascript functions returns true, for the first click everything works perfectly. When it returns false, the content type is text/html, but the action is invoked in the page code every time.
    Returning always true would solve my problem with the content type, but the action with the command link will not get invoked always as its some type of problem with h:commanLink :(.
    I guess I gave too much info. Heres my code stepby step.
    Can somebody please tell me , how I should also invoke the action in the page code and get the content type as "multipart/form-data" at the same time.

    Thanks.

    one more question. Is there a way where I can submit two forms ?
    Thats is submit 2nd form only when the first form is submitted.
    I tried this it works.
    function formSubmit(){
    document.form1.submit();
    alert();
    document.form2.submit();
    But If I dont put an alert(basically it disables the parent page) in between, only the second form is submitted.
    If I put a delay of say 3 seconds in between then it will throw a SOCKET CLOSED error in the code triggered due to first form submit.
    Thus disabling the paresnt page for a few seconds is reolving my problem.
    Any ideas ?
    Well Basically when the Alert pop's up the parent page "STALLS" and thus the form2 does not submit till I click on OK, Is there a way I can stall the browser/Parent JSP page using JAVA SCRIPT ??

  • How to do handle multiple JSP file in one portlet?

    Hi...
    I studied the JPDK for multipage..
    What the example do, is just link from page 1 to page 2.
    What i want to do is..
    I have a jsp called infoForm.jsp as a portlet.
    When i clicked submit button, a second page (getForm.jsp) will grab the data and will process it and send the result back to the infoForm.jsp.
    Can anybody help me on this?
    Thanks..

    Akshay,
    If am not wrong, you are trying to upload files using your portlet. Then you expect the content from the uploaded file should be available at the provider midtier to your portlet JSPs. There are certain issues wrt file upload using a web provider.
    Since, the PPE & JPDK communicate using SOAP over HTTP/S, they cannot handle the requests where content type is multipart, as is the case with file uploads. Hence the solution to this is to upload that file in the Portal content area & not to bring it to the provider midtier. There was a DB portlet available on Knowledge Exchange that could do this. So please visit Knowledge Exchange & search for the DB portlet for file upload.
    If there is anything else that you desire, please let me know.
    Regards,
    Abhinav

  • Error "PPE is working" on File Upload with Oracle Portlet running 10.1.2

    I am attempting to perform file upload using an Oracle Portlet running under the 10.1.2 Portal.
    All the examples I have seen indicate you must identify the encoding type as "multipart/form-data" in your JSP. When I do this and attempt to submit the page I get a blank screen with the words "PPE is working.".
    Looking at the "http-web-access.log" on my OC4J Standalone server I can see that the Standalone server never actually receives the request. For some reason it appears the Portal is not forwarding the request to OC4J like it is suppose to.
    Can someone tell me what might be wrong? Does anyone have experience implementing file upload using Oracle Portlets and the 10.1.2 Portal?
    Thanks,

    I have encountered the same problem 4 years before. Finally i figured out, Oracle Portal is not supporting "multipart/form-data".
    Work around is write a servlet program to upload the file into DB.

  • File upload issue in Portlet

    Hi Friends,
    I'm using FileUpload in one of my screen, so I'm using form enctype="multipart/form-data" and using apache commons fileUpload library. The file upload is working fine and I'm navigated from 1st screen to the 2nd screen.
    but in the 2nd screen, I have an anchor link, to navigate back to the 1st screen
    <li><a href="javascript:void (0)" onclick="'<%=renderResponse.createActionURL().toString()+"&paramView=Test1"%>'"> Test1</a></li>.
    When I click the anchor link in the 2nd screen, I'm getting the following exception,

    Hi Sreedhar,
    Thanks for your reply. I'm not able to access the document. I get the following message while trying to access the document. Are you able to access the document?
    Document cannot be displayed. Possible reasons are:
    The document id was entered incorrectly. Please check and try again.
    The document id does not exist (was referenced incorrectly).
    The document is not classified as publicly accessible ("non-public").
    The content is being updated and it is temporarily unavailable but will be made available again soon.
    I don't have any problem in pulling the parameters from a Simple HTML Form with enctype="multipart/form-data" using JSR 286 portlets. But the problem is, if I do submit using the Form with enctype="multipart/form-data", in the next screen, the anchor link is not working, but submit buttons are working in the 2nd screen. If I'm navigated to the 2nd screen using default form enctype, I don't have any problem in the 2nd screen. I'm using Apache commons FileUpload.

    Hi,
    Looks like you are missing a file from the classpath. Make sure servlet.jar is available in your classpath. Ordinarily files in <tomcat_home>/lib directory should be added automatically. You need to check why it hasn't been added in your case. A good place to start would be the bat files in the bin directory viz startup.bat, catalina.bat etc.
    cheers,

    I have successfully used Multipart classes from Oreilly. I believe that's the same one you are referring to. I have implemented my Upload using a servlet though. If you can post what exactly is your trouble using that code, I will be glad to help you with it.

  • JSP : latest  JSTL, File Upload from web form Client to Server Question!

    I understand that within a JSP, It is possible to read a file from the Client by opening a Stream somehow.
    How do I code, within jsp/servlet (non tag) java code inside <% %>
    blocks, WITHOUT openening a new connection to the URL, an InputStream from a client web browser form, from a file upload coded using
    <input type="file" name="file1"/> ?
    I have previously achieved this quite simply with a FileInputStream
    with the previous version of JSTL.
    How may I do this with the latest version of JSTL, with this index.jsp?
    -with a simple text file.
    -with a Binary file (with DataInputStream)?

    out.println(stream.toString());
    %>
    </c:if>
    <!--*********************************************************************** -->
    </body>
    </html>

    If I have:
    <!-- ***********************************************************************************-->
    <form name="form1" method="POST" enctype="multipart/form-data">
    <input name="file1" type="file"/>
    <input name="submit1" type="submit" value="Submit" action="index.jsp"/>
    </form>
    <!-- ***********************************************************************************-->
    and run this in an index.jsp, use browse to select my text file, and click SUBMIT.
    I can use:
    InputStreamReader reader = new InputStreamReader(new DataInputStream(request.getInputStream()))
    BufferedReader bufferedReader = new BufferedReader(reader);
    bufferedReader.readLine();...
    However, these is some HTML/POST related content around what multiple readLine();
    calls return.
    Is there an easy way, like using "${param.file1}",
    aside from [http://commons.apache.org/fileupload/|http://commons.apache.org/fileupload/],
    maybe using servlet style code, to get the File contents from a remote Client,
    to the remote Server servlet engine, AVOIDING ANY SUPERFLUOUS CONTENT,
    using version 1.12 of the JSTL, JSP 2.0,Tomcat 6?
    Just politely, yes, no, and how?

  • How to get full path of a file uploaded using file control on a jsp ?

    Hi all...
    I have a jsp on which i am using a file element (input type="file") to upload files present on the physical file system.. Thats working fine.. But i want to retrieve the full path of the file uploaded for further computation.
    What are the possible ways which can give me the full path ?? (e.g. "D:\data\text\Output.txt" )
    Thanks all for attending the question..
    Regards
    Prasad

    Some browsers send the full path. Some do not.
    You can not affect this in any way shape or form.
    All you can count on receiving is a filename - no path information.
    So you will have to have some other way for the user to pass along this information.
    If they are uploading to a "remote web site" they could specify a folder to put the uploaded file in.
    You could classify it and put all image files in "images" and all script files in "scripts" etc etc by default, and let the user deal with it in their own HTML.
    Hope this helps,
