FileDialog still shows up several times after hitting cancel

Question

If I hit cancel for the fist time in my FileDialog the dialog disappears, everything fine so far. But if I go back to the same FileDialog later and hit cancel again, there is an other FileDialog behind it. If I go back the third time there are 2 FileDialogs behind it. Number increases with every time.
I am positive that I dispose of the FileDialog each time. This is only when I hit cancel.
Anyone had anything similar?

Here is the code I use to create an Open dialog:
               if (fileDialog == null)
                    fileDialog = new FileDialog( parent );
               fileDialog.setMode(FileDialog.LOAD);
               fileDialog.show();
               if (fileDialog.getFile() == null)
                    return;
               File file = new File( fileDialog.getDirectory(), fileDialog.getFile() );
Note, that fileDialog is a class variable which means that the FileDialog object only gets created once. That could be your problem.
