Filtering criteria using an Exit variable

Hi,
I have a requirement as follows:
There are 2 info objects for Start& End Periods of project.
There is another Keyfigure(number of months) which is populated by calculating the difference of Start & End periods.
Now, the filtering criteria would be Start period, End period and number of months.
When the user enters the Start and End periods of the project and also the number of months, the system shoudl display all the projects matching the above filtering criteria.
Eg:
Project1:  Start period : 01.2009
               End period :  06.2009
               Number of months : 6
Project2:  Start period : 02.2009
               End period :  04.2009
               Number of months : 3
Project3:  Start period : 03.2009
               End period :  05.2009
               Number of months : 3
Project4:  Start period : 05.2009
               End period :  07.2009
               Number of months : 3
Project5:  Start period : 05.2009
               End period :  09.2009
               Number of months : 5
Now if the user enters the following the filtering criteria:
Start period: 01.2009
End period:  12.2009
Number of Months : 3,
the system should display only project2,project3,project4.
Any thoughts on how to achieve this using an Exit variable? Because the variables Start and End periods are created on 2 seperate info objects.
Thanks
Shyam

Hi,
I think you should create the two variable..
One for start period where user puts the start period:- 01/2009 to 01/2009
Also in the end period user can select the :- 01/2009 to 012/2009.
in exit variable you can take the user input and add the high value for strat period similar to user input..
and in the end period user puts the end month and in exit u need to put the start period in low value.
Hope this helps..
in this caase, u will get the
start period value    01/2009 to 01/2009
End Period Value   01/2009  to 12/2009.

    Hello Gautam,
I think you should first implement the user-exit via the transaction SMOD/CMOD and the SAP-Enhancement RSR00001 User-Exit ( BW Reporting )
For the concrete implementation I would suggest to encapsulate the variables, as it is described here

  • Crystal Reports with BEx Query using Custom Exit Variable

    Hi,
We have BW BEx Query using Customer User Exit variable to derive  the Fiscal Week for Last Year (called it VAR2) based on another user input variable Current Fiscal Week (called it VAR1).
VAR2 is derived from VAR1 in CMOD via some codings and thus it DOES NOT have the "Variable is Ready for Input" flag ticked in the BEx. VAR1 is user input variable, so it has "Variable is Ready for Input" flag ticked in the BEx.
When we create a Crystal Reports with the BEx Query using variable VAR2, and when we run it we got an error message saying "Failed to execute query; '[]<java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: No Selection State Support!ZP_MI_LYPUBWEEK>'. Redesign your query or contact the data source maintainer to solve the problem".  (note: ZP_MI_LYPUBWEEK is VAR2 in this case).
Could anyone please assist? Surely, CR supports BEx customer user exit variables like the above, right?. I also refer to the forum below as it seems to have a similar issue (except mine with an error message), but it does not provide a solution in it.

    Hi Vibhav,
We have the SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI4.0 Version 14.0.0. Not sure if SP0 or other SP, got to check with Basis Team later.
We tried that "mandatory" option and did not work either.
Anyway, SAP has now come back again saying it is something they will fix it in next release/version. We got a phone call from them and a reply below to our OSS.

  • Why we use customet exit variables?

    hi friends,
why we use customer exit variables. can u give me some examples at what scenerio we use
default/user entry, formula, text, hierchies and hierchies. ( with processing type is customer exit)
can i get atleast 1 scenerio for 5 types variables?
    Thanking u
    suneel.

    Hi Suneel
    Check info about Exits,
    Replacement Path
You use the Replacement Path processing type to specify the value that automatically replaces the variable when you execute the query or Web application
check this link explains step by step
    http://www.sd-solutions.com/documents/SDS_BW_Replacement%20Path%20Variables.html
    Customer Exit:
If you need to use a processing type other than manual entry/default value, replacement path, SAP exit, or authorization, then a customer exit gives you the option of setting up a processing type for variables, tailor-made to your specific needs.
The customer exit is designed as an enhancement that you can configure with customer-specific logic
    SAP Exit:
SAP exits are delivered content variables. Before creating any custom variable exit, its advisable to check if there are any SAP exits delivered to do the same functionality.
Check these links for SAP and Customer Exits,
To see SAP Exits -> Use Tcode SMOD
To See Customer Exits -> Use Tcode CMOD
There are projects to which Exits are assigned. Selects the relevant projects.

  • How to use customer exit variable in the report

    Dear All,
i want to use a standard customer exit variable in the report properties.
In the Bex Query Designer right hand bottom you will find two buttons "Properties" and "Task". Click on task you will get different option. Choose properties from there and then select "variable sequence tab".
I need to add a standard variable there. How can i achieve it?
    Appreciate your early help.

You need to add variable to corresponding charctertic then you can get that varaible for sorting the sequence....
If 0CUST is the varaible then you need to assign it 0CUSTOMER then 0CUST will be available for the sequence.

  • Using SAP Exit Variable twice on the same report

    Hello all,
I need to use the same variable -Current Calendar Day (SAP Exit)- to filter against 2 characteristics on the same report.
Unfortunately it's not possible, here the error:
" Variable 0DAT is used in both (structure) element 11T4741S4XTWZUAJ9IQ6DUDE1, and element AZLK9YCS4XGJ940MRPMLXMDS9 for various characteristics (ZCBBIDATE, ZCBPHTDT). This is not permitted as the characteristic is required for the F4 value help structure."
May you please suggest me a way to do it ? Thanks in advance.

    Hi
As the 0DAT varaible check the other standard varaible which provides the same function in business content.
Or create a varaible with Customer exit and use it.
In CMOD write the code in like this
    WHEN 'ZDAT'
    L_ZDAT = Sy-datum.
    L_S_RANGE-low = L_ZDAT.
and follow the other codes as you define for other varaibles.

  • Exclude a hierarchy node by using exit variable (not in query designer)

    Hi gurus!!
I have a hierarchy for the infoObject 0COSTELMNT. Depending on the user who executes the report, the node '0599ADJUSTMENTS' must be displayed or not.
I am trying to solve it by using an exit variable:
    Varible Type: Hierarchy Node
    Processing : Exit
On the exit, I have entered the following code:
          IF ( sy-subrc = 0 ).
              l_s_range-sign = 'E' .
              l_s_range-opt  = 'EQ' .
              l_s_range-low = 'AJUSTES'.

  • Behavior of customer exit variables (used as prompt) in a workbook

    Hi All,
We are on NW2004s. I am using a customer exit variable in the prompt for my query then saved the query as a workbook.
    1. When I run the query the customer exit routine/program is called and the selection screen variable is populated with the correct value.
Ex. Calendar year variable is a prompt variable defined as customer exit variable that gets the current year.
when you run the query the prompt for calendar year shows "2007" as default value. this is correct.
    2. when I run the workbook using this same query, it looks like it is not executing the customer exit program. The value in the calendar year prompt is whatever the last value used when the workbook was last ran.
I also placed a breakpoint in the customer exit program (EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001) to check if it is being called and it looks like it isn't.
Is there a configuration/property that I should enable/check to make sure that customer exit variables used as prompts works in workbooks? Is this a bug? Anybody else have issues with using customer exit variables as prompts in their workbooks?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Customer exit variable in Planning filter - IP

    Hi,
I am new to business planning. I am trying to use a customer exit variable in filter, while performing check system generates message "RFC failue error". the logic is written to get the current year. But I am not able to use this variable?  Can you please answer me this question... Can I use Customer exit variables in planning modeler filters or planning functions ?

    Hi there,
Yes you can, and it is used very often in both.
Probably your variable is wrongly defined.
What you can do is create a query over that aggregation level, and insert the planning filter in there. Put some key figure on the query and put a breakpoint on your variable customer exit code. Execute the query and debug the variable code to check the error.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Diogo.

  • Customer Exit Variable in formula to get values for multiple keyfigures

    Hi to all,
I have query as defined in following scenario:
    CHAR_X     C_KF1 (based on KF1)     C_KF2 (based on KF2)     u2026     C_KFn (based on KFn)
    Value1
    Value2
    u2026
    Valuem
    C_KF = calculated key figure
I need to create a customer exit variable that will search through selection e.g. CHAR_X/KF1 and give some result. I need this variable for every keyfigure (KF1-KFn). Using customer exit variable is the only solution.
My question is: do I have to create formula variable (customer exit) representing every keyfigure separately (VAR1 u2013 VARn, like in below example)?
    CHAR_X     C_KF1 (using VAR1)     C_KF2 (using VAR2)     u2026     C_KFn (using VARn)
    Value1
    Value2
    u2026
    Valuem
Or is it possible to create one general formula variable since the way to retrieve the value in variable is always the same (like in below example)? In this case, how do I pass the value of the respective keyfigure to this variable?
    CHAR_X     C_KF1 (using VAR_X)     C_KF2 (using VAR_X)     u2026     C_KFn (using VAR_X)
    Value1
    Value2
    u2026
    Valuem
Thanks for your replies, points will be awarded!
    Cheers

That is my concern, the value of variable is not the same.
    What variable should do is:
take KF1 id, go through values for CHAR_X, get back one value
This value would always be different, and also "KF" part in code of variable should be different, based on the column where the variable is being used (so, in column C_KF1 ,variable should "pick up" id of KF1, etc.).
I hope it makes it more clear. For now, I do not have the code for variable yet, I am just interested in concept whether it is possible to pass the ID of keyfigure dynamically so I can make decision how to model this request.
    Thanks

  • BPS: exit variable

    Good day,
I hope you can help me, I've got a problem which I hope can be solved using an exit variable, in BPS.
    Scenario:
Planning area with characteristics MATERIAL, WEEK, DAY and key figure PlanQty.
I want to do a equal distribution of the plan values per WEEK to DAY. DAY can have multiple values for the same MATERIAL & WEEK. We have a custom table with the values for MATERIAL, WEEK and DAY.
    Example:
    MATERIAL / WEEK / DAY / PlanQty
    10001 / 10 / # / 200
    Distributed:
    MATERIAL / WEEK / DAY / PlanQty
    10001 / 10 / 2 / 100
    10001 / 10 / 5 / 100
Would the following be a viable solution?
Create an exit variable for DAY. In the function module read the custom table and return the multiple single values for DAY. Create a distribution function,  and use the exit variable for DAY in the parameter group to distribute the plan values from DAY = # to the multiple DAY values.
    Questions:
    1. How do I pick up the value for MATERIAL and WEEK in the function module to read the custom table? Should it be included in the exit variable?
    2. Would the exit variable be updated everytime the parameter group is called (i.e. per subset), or only once when executing the function?
    Any help or suggestions welcome!
    Thanks!
    Kind regards,
    Theana

    Hi,
I am not sure on the solution, you have provided. However, it looks little complex to me.
In my opinion, the design can be as follows.
Create 7 numeric variables in your planning area for 7 days. The user will enter the distribution factors for these days (some of the days can have the factor as 0 as well). Depending on the factors entered, the function module will distribute the WEEK quantity to the respective DAYS.
    For example,
The quantity for WEEK is 400 and this should be distributed to 2 and 5 DAYS equally. Enter 1 for those two DAYS variable and execute the planning function. The planning function should distribute the quantity in the following manner:
    For DAY 1:
    400 * 0 / (1+1)
    For DAY 2:
    400 * 1 / (1+1)
    and so on.
Hope this helps. Kindly reciprocate by awarding points.
