Financial Reporting Reports Formatted Differently in PDF

Hello all -
I am working in a 11.1.2.1 environment. When I view Financial Reporting Studio reports in HTML, they appear formatted as I expect them to. When I view the same reports in PDF, it seems to drop any bolding or italicizing I do on the headers or in text boxes. The behavior is the same regardless of if I create the report from scratch or work with an existing report. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Thanks,
Sarah

In case anyone else is experiencing this issue - we were able to solve this issue by applying patch 11.1.2.1.104. A word to the wise though - while it fixed the font difference issue, the patch spawned an Oracle-recognized bug that causes report books to ignore any Book POV and use the User POV when it is run. Whichever bug you are more comfortable with, I suppose. :)

  • Financial Reports Formatting

    Hi
    In HFR.
    Forulae Row9 = DataRow1/FormulaeRow/3
    Forulae Row10 = DataRow2/FormulaeRow/3
    FormulaeRow/3 = Constant Values
    Forulae Row11 = Difference (row9,row10)
I have formatted Row11 RED color for -ve values .............but the report is not showing the -ve values in () in RED.
    How can we solve this.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Difference is a mathematical function that returns the absolute value of the difference of a numeric value.
For example, Difference (3, 5) returns the absolute value 2.
    So try this one-
    for Row 11 = Row[9]-Row [10]
and apply the formatting for negative number.
    Hope it will help you.

  • Can I submit one process to run many Financial Reports at once?

I've been asked by one of our HFM customers, about ways to submit 50 FR reports by one command. Best of the process can also be schedulled.
There is a function called “Batch Reports for Scheduling”. This function can run and refresh a report (built with Financial Reporting) and create a pdf file into a specified target folder.
The problem with it, is that each report is schedule by a seperate “Batch Reports for Scheduling” function. Since the customer has lots of reports (more than 50), they need to submit them one by one, specify for each one it's parameters values (Year and Period) so it's a time consuming process.
The customer would like to find an option that will simplify the process by doing all refresh at the same time.
We are looking for a command line that we could use by a batch (by using .bat for example). We need those commands:
    1. Connect to HFM
    2. Launch “Batched Reports for Scheduling” with right parameter
    3. Disconnect to HFM
I'd appreciate any idea that would help.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Yoram

    Hi Yoram
There is a command line utility that you can use to run Financial Reporting batches. It is called ScheduleBatch.cmd and can be found in the 'bin' directory under BIPlus (I can't be more specific as it depends which version of FR you are running).
Take a look at the help attached in the section Scheduler Command Line Interface under the Administrative Tasks for Financial Reporting
    [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/fr_user/frameset.htm?launch.html]
These notes are labelled as v11 but this section equally applies to v9.3.1
I have not used this with HFM but I have uses a windows .bat file to launch multiple FR batches using this feature (against Essbase) and deliver reports to users out of working hours so that they are in their email inbox when they arrive at work.
    Hope this helps

  • Financial Reporting in Answers

    Hi all,
It was said (see OBI EE 10gR3 New Features White Paper) that we could create requests in Answers formated in a style similar to the Financial Reports format.
Unfortunately, i haven't discovered such functionalities in Answers...
Can you shed some light on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    --Nuno

Yes. It is achieved using Pivot Tables. They have added a lot more options in Pivot views in 10gR3. You can closely mimic a financial report. But if you want very highly formatted reports, you need to use BI Publisher. And BI Publisher reports can be integrated into dashboards.

    hello,
    just to clarify
    a) the parameter is named DESFORMAT not :DESFORMAT, there is
no : in front of the name, if you submit it via URL !
    b) there are some issues with acrobat5 and IE but those are not
only caused by PDFs generated with oracle reports.

  • Why Reports format behaves different in Excel and browser(if desformat=html or pdf)?

1-Why Reports format behaves different in Excel and browser(if desformat=html or pdf)?
2-I made three queries Q1,Q2 & Q3 and linked them with proper field links but suppose Q3 returns no records for some Q1&Q2 records & when the report runs for delimited options it reflects only those records as output for which all the queries return records(if Q3 returns no record then the related records from queries Q1,Q2 don't reflect) while the output in desformat=html or pdf is ok..
can you please resolve my problems
( I have installed patch 5a in my report server machine)
    Thanks & Regds.

What do you mean by "different"? (In our
experience, Oracle html output has too many
columns, which are not visible in the
browser but are obvious in Excel.)
We build our own html programmatically, so
that Excel matches the browser more closely.

  • Change in report format after exporting from pdf format to excel format.

    Hi,
I got a problem while exporting the pdf format of the Report to Excel format "Fully-Foramtted Grids and Texts".
    The format gets automatically changed.
Is there any solution to this problem.

Can you give some more details?
Which version are you using (and which patch level - if any).
Also what formatting is default on the reports and what is the default format in excel.
What exactly is different between PDF and excel?
Another possibility is that font substitution is going on??

  • 3.0 Shared Component - Report Format - all PDF

    Greetings,
    Details
I have been working with the REPORTS - REPORT QUERIES section of APEX 3.0
The testing I have been doing is very simple, but I am running into a bit of a stumper.
I have created 4 report queries on the EMP table (SELECT * FROM EMP) that all use the same REPORT LAYOUT. The RTF file which is the template is a very simple - show all columns and rows for the EMP table (14 rows).
I have set each of the 4 report layouts to a different format.
    1 - PDF
    1 - EXCEL
    1 - WORD
    1 - HTML
I am NOT using the ITEM to dynamically set the format.
I can TEST each of the reports in the shared component area, and they test OK with a success rate of 75%.
The EXCEL format does not export correctly. (using Excel 2002 on the client) It is a bit of a mess. (Works in the XML publisher template builder on the client.. so the format is not the issue.)
More curious is the behavior when I put this application. I have created a LIST of the 4 report formats. All 4 return the PDF format when used.
    To see the Application:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=34096
    Question Summary:
1 - Has anyone run with and tested the RTF style report layouts out to Excel?
2 - The approach described usees 4 report queries against 1 layout. Is this a VALID use of the report functionality?
3 - Why would all the reports try to use PDF when they test in the correct formats?
    Best Regards and Thank You.
    -- Tim

    Tim,
The Excel output is not strictly XLS, it's actually HTML formatted in a way that Excel understands and through setting the MIME-types we make it open in Excel. I have to try reproducing your specific problem with Excel 2002. If you could send me your RTF layout and the end-result ([email protected]), I can take a look.
Your approach using 4 different queries with the same layout is perfectly fine. Ideally of course, you would not have to replicate them same query four times, so we are considering a shared query concept for future version of Application Express.
You specific problem with the output format being PDF at runtime appears to be a bug, I'll investigate further. Meanwhile one work-around would be to use a report region instead. If you're using the same SQL query as the source, you can associate the same report layout (on the report print attributes page). You could also create a "container" page for that report region, that's never actually called by the end user, and then have a button pointing to the URL below for printing. It would then work just like your report queries, only that you now would get the requested format:
    f?p=&APP_ID.:[REPORT PAGE ID]:&SESSION.:FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R[REPORT REGION ID]
so if your app ID is 34096 and your "container" page e.g. 99, and on page 99 your report region ID would be 1234567890, then use this URL as the button target:
    f?p=&APP_ID.:99:&SESSION.:FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R1234567890
    Hope this helps,
    Marc

  • How to get XML format output from Hyperion Financial Reporting

    Dears,
We are using Hyperion Financial Reporting to replace FSG in fusion. I found that Hyperion FR report can be exported to html/excel/pdf format. However, I would like the report to export to xml format. It means I only need the xml data source.
Anyone who knows how to get the xml format output from Hyperion FR, is there any avaiable API?

I think if you export the report, you will be able to open the .des file in Notepad/Wordpad and see xml content.

  • Change formatting of table of contents in Hyperion Financial Reporting

    Hi
We're using Hyperion Financial Reporting to generate carefully formatted books of reports. Users complain about the default table of contents in these books, specifically:
--> formatting: the basic text-only, portrait-only, formatting does not fit with the "look and feel" of reports within the books.
--> placement: the fact that it doesn't seem possible to place anywhere within a book, apart from as the first page (they like a title page to sit at the front of a book of reports).
--> content: having a limited options for defining the text identifying each item within the table of contents. For example, the same combination of dimension members appear for each item in the table of contents, so the first few items look something like:
    Report1_Label
    Dimension2_Label, Dimension1_Label, Dimension3_Label, Dimension4_Label ....................1
    Report2_Label
    Dimension3_Label, Dimension1_Label, Dimension4_Label, Dimension2_Label ....................2
I remember reading somewhere that it's possible to define custom table of contents. Has anyone had any experience of hacking this? Where can I find relevant documentation on defining custom table of contents?
Grateful if anyone has any advice.
    Thanks
    Nathan

    Hi Nathan
I've never done this before but there is a section in the Financial Reporting Workspace Administrators Guide (chapter 5). However this involves accessing the css style sheets and in my experience this can have unwanted and unexpected effects in other areas. It does appear to be fairly well documented though in this case so perhaps it is more reliable in this instance.
It does specifically mention HTML format and not PDF format so if you are publishing to PDF it is worth checking the impact on that too. Take a look at the attached for version 11.1.2 but I'm fairly sure this was available in earlier versions too.

  • Financial Reports PDF File Size

We recently patched from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.2 and we have noticed that the PDFs generated from Financial reporting have a file size significantly larger (4x) then when they were done with the previous release. Nothing has changed on the reports. Is there some configuration that can be done to get the PDF file size back to where it was previously ? From Financial reports Help-> About we are on version 11.1.2.362.

11.1.2.2 come with a new print engine, which does your PDF looks different in size. You may have change the settings by selecting the "Auto Size" option in the Grid Poperties and test

  • Difference between pdf and html report format

Why HTML report printouts truncate from the right-end side, compare to the pdf report format ?, do i need to change anything
while running report through HTML format

The printing from html output is majorly affected by browser settings. Once you try to change the left and right margins in page setup before printing, I solved this problem in this way , it may work for you. Let me know if it works or if you overcome it by other ways.
