Find all records that have character alone in a string

Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition
Hi all,
I must select from a varchar2 field, all the records that have a character (number or char) alone in the string.
For example.
ASDF BHGR H RR (yes, cause "H")
ASDF BHGR H4 R (yes, cause "R")
ASDF B H4 DDR (yes, cause "B")
ASDF B H4 DDR (yes, cause "B")
ASDF BC 1 DDR (yes, cause "1")
ASDF BC / DDR (yes, cause "/")
ASDF BHGR H4 RR (no)
ASDF (no)
I'm trying by SubStr, but I cannot generally solutions.
Thank's for any suggestion.
Ciao

Ok, just a try :
SQL> with tbl as

  6   select 'ASDF BHGR H4' str from dual union all
  7   select 'ASDF - H4' str from dual union all
  8   select 'a1 ASDF BHGR H4' str from dual union all
  9   select 'ASDF B H4 DDR' str from dual union all
10   select 'ASDF BC 1 DDR' str from dual union all
11   select 'ASDF BC / DDR' str from dual)
12  select str,
13         decode(regexp_instr(str,'^. | . | .$'),0,'no',decode(regexp_instr(str,'^- | - | -$'),0,'yes','no')) res
14  from tbl;
STR             RES
ASDF BHGR H RR  yes
ASDF BHGR H4 R  yes
ASDF B H4 DDR   yes
ASDF BHGR H4 R1 no
ASDF BHGR H4    no
ASDF - H4       no

  • How to find all photos that have NO faces, as opposed to UNNAMED faces?

    I find that iPhoto often misses faces entirely, especially if the face is wearing sunglasses or a hat or both.  Sometimes it is rather inexplicable that it has missed a face, as the face seems obvious.
    If you use the smart album method to find all "unnamed" faces, the photos have at least one unnamed face identified.  You can then add any missed faces to those photos.
    But what about photos in which iPhoto has failed to identify the existence of even one face?  Or for that matter, if I want to see only pictures of landscapes or objects that have no people?  Does anyone have a method for finding all photos that have no faces in them at all?
    For me, the idea is to find all unidentified faces and add them.  But as I pointed out above, there may be other uses for this.
    Any ideas, anyone?
    Thanks

    Awesome !!! Thank you very much. I did not realize you could use JavaScript to code against iTunes ...
    I don't know if you have written any of these yourself, but do you know how to maybe create a smart playlist with this information via script? If not, no big deal. At least I know have something which I can use, I will just have to run it every so often.
    Thanks again for pointing me to that site!

  • Stuck on sql query to find parent records that have the same child records

    Oracle 10gR2 Enterprise Edition.
    Hi,
    I'm trying to write some logic to look for records in a parent table, which have the exact same values in a child table.
    This is part of a bigger query, but I'm stuck on this part for now, so I've mocked up some simplified tables below to capture the core of the
    problem I'm stuck on.
    Let say I've got a parent table Manager, a child table Employee and there's a many to many relationship between them.
    The aptly named Join_Table handles the relationship between them. So one manager can manage many employees, one employee can be managed by
    many managers.
    I've a feeling this is stupidly easy, but I seem to be suffering from a bad bout of brain freeze today!
    -- parent table
    CREATE TABLE manager (
    id      number primary key,
    name      varchar2(100));
    -- child table
    CREATE TABLE employee (
    id          number primary key,
    name      varchar2(100));
    -- link table
    CREATE TABLE join_table (
    manager_id          NUMBER,
    employee_id      NUMBER,
    CONSTRAINT join_table_pk PRIMARY KEY (manager_id, employee_id),
    CONSTRAINT manager_fk FOREIGN KEY (manager_id) REFERENCES manager(id),
    CONSTRAINT employee_fk FOREIGN KEY (employee_id) REFERENCES employee(id)
    -- Insert some managers
    INSERT INTO manager (id, name) VALUES (1, 'John');
    INSERT INTO manager (id, name) VALUES (2, 'Bob');
    INSERT INTO manager (id, name) VALUES (3, 'Mary');
    INSERT INTO manager (id, name) VALUES (4, 'Sue');
    INSERT INTO manager (id, name) VALUES (5, 'Alan');
    INSERT INTO manager (id, name) VALUES (6, 'Mike');
    -- Insert some employees
    INSERT INTO employee (id, name) VALUES (101, 'Paul');
    INSERT INTO employee (id, name) VALUES (102, 'Simon');
    INSERT INTO employee (id, name) VALUES (103, 'Ken');
    INSERT INTO employee (id, name) VALUES (104, 'Kevin');
    INSERT INTO employee (id, name) VALUES (105, 'Jack');
    INSERT INTO employee (id, name) VALUES (106, 'Jennifer');
    INSERT INTO employee (id, name) VALUES (107, 'Tim');
    -- Insert the links
    -- John manages Paul, Simon, Ken
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (1, 101);
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (1, 102);
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (1, 103);
    -- Bob manages Paul, Simon, Kevin, Jack
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (2, 101);
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (2, 102);

    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (2, 105);

    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (3, 107);
    -- Sue manages Jennifer, Tim
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (4, 106);
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (4, 107);
    -- Alan manages Paul, Simon, Ken, Jennifer, Tim
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (5, 101);
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (5, 102);

    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (6, 102);
    INSERT INTO join_table (manager_id, employee_id) VALUES (6, 103);
    -- For sanity
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX employee_name_uidx ON employee(name);So if I'm querying for manager John, I want to find the other managers who manage the exact same list of employees.
    Answer should be Mike.
    If I'm querying for manager Mary, answer should be Sue.
    This query will give me the list of managers who manage some of the same employees as John, but not the exact same employees...
    SELECT DISTINCT m.name AS manager
    FROM manager m, join_table jt, employee e
    WHERE m.id = jt.manager_id
    AND jt.employee_id = e.id
    AND e.id IN (
         SELECT e.id
         FROM manager m, join_table jt, employee e
         WHERE m.id = jt.manager_id
         AND jt.employee_id = e.id
         AND m.name = 'John')
    ORDER BY 1;I thought about using set operations to find managers whose list of employees minus my employees is null and where my employees minus their list of employees is null. But surely there's a simpler more elegant way.
    Any ideas?
    Btw, I need to run this as a batch job against tables with >20 million rows so query efficiency is key.

    What about...
    WITH manager_list AS
    SELECT name,
            LTRIM(MAX(SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(id,','))
            KEEP (DENSE_RANK LAST ORDER BY curr),',') AS employees
    FROM   (SELECT m.name,
                    e.id,
                    ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY m.name ORDER BY e.id) AS curr,
                    ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY m.name ORDER BY e.id) -1 AS prev
             FROM   manager m,
                    join_table jt,
                    employee e
      WHERE m.id           = jt.manager_id
      AND   jt.employee_id = e.id
      AND   m.name = :P_MANAGER)
      GROUP BY name
      CONNECT BY prev = PRIOR curr AND name = PRIOR name
      START WITH curr = 1
    ), all_list AS
    SELECT name,
            LTRIM(MAX(SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(id,','))
            KEEP (DENSE_RANK LAST ORDER BY curr),',') AS employees
    FROM   (SELECT m.name,
                    e.id,
                    ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY m.name ORDER BY e.id) AS curr,
                    ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY m.name ORDER BY e.id) -1 AS prev
             FROM   manager m,
                    join_table jt,
                    employee e
      WHERE m.id           = jt.manager_id
      AND   jt.employee_id = e.id)
      GROUP BY name
      CONNECT BY prev = PRIOR curr AND name = PRIOR name
      START WITH curr = 1
    SELECT a.*
    FROM   manager_list m,
           all_list a
    WHERE  m.employees = a.employeesWould be easier in 11g, but I don't have an installation here so this is based on 10g.
    Cheers

  • Find all images that have no Keyword assigned?

    Is it possible to create a smart album to show all the pictures WITHOUT a keyword?
    When I create the smart folder and click Keywords, the only options are "contain one or more of the following" and "contain all of the following".

    A quick way to see images with no keywords applied is to use the drop-down sort order box on the browser window. Normally it is set to Image Date, but if you select Keywords, all your images with no keywords will be at the top or bottom of the browser.

  • Trying to find a record that does not have an event created for it

    Post Author: tzinser
    CA Forum: Formula
    A little background on how it works....
    We create a record, and everytime it is created, a number of "events" within that record are automatically created.  The specific event I am trying to run a report on is "REC".  I can run a report and get the information entered into the REC event no problem, but my problem is that if someone deletes the "REC" event it does not show up in my report.
    So my question is, what is the best way to write a function that displays all records that have the "REC" event, and all records that the "REC" event is missing.
    I'm using the generic funtion {EVENT.EventCode} = "REC"  right now....any suggestions?

    Post Author: tzinser
    CA Forum: Formula
    Okay, I left off a lot of important information...
    I'm using two tables
    TWDATA
    EVENT
    From TWDATA I'm pulling the fields TWDATA.OrderNumber and TWDATA.DisbursementDate
    From EVENT I'm pulling the fields EVENT.EventCode and EVENT.CompletedDate
    The two tables are linked by OrderNumber.

  • Alternative to find unique records with 60 character in selection string.

    Hi,
    We have to find out the values from the Infoobject. When we try to display data from an master object, the maximum length of selection it accepts 45 characters only but we need to input data around 60 characters in selection.
    Thing we tried:
    1. Selecting complete data without any condition but it did not work due to large volume of data.
    2. We tried to extract data from RSA3 but it did not work due to large volume of data.
    Please suggest me alternative to find unique records with 60 character in selection string.
    Regards,
    Himanshu Panchal.

    This sounds a bit strange. Are you perhaps mistakenly storing text data incorrectly as the primary key of the master data? I can't think of any actual data that is that length to ensure usinqueness - even GUIDs are maximum 32 characters - but GUIDs don't count as actual "readable" data although you do need to be able to select it from time to time. Perhaps you have a super secure password hash or something like it ?
    Also are you expecting to have a unique single record returned by your selection? To do this would in general REQUIRE that ALL the data is read because master data is not stored in the DB sorted by the data itself, but stored instead sorted by the it's SID.
    When you say you are selecting data from master data, which master data tables are you using? I have been able to select data from very large MD table (15 million unique records) using SE16 with no problems. Just enter the table name, and before you execute just count the number of records - it helps to know what you want to end up with.
    Have you tried using wild cards (the *) to preselect a smaller number of records : * a bit of your 60 character string *
    If you are trying to select from a non-key field you will encounter performance issues, but you can still use the wildcards, and get a result.
    Don't use RSA3 it was designed to make selections and group them into datapackets. It's not the same as selecting directly on the table in SE11 or SE16

  • I need to be able to find domain controllers that have been removed from the domain but never demoted

    I need to find domain controllers that have been removed but never demoted.
    Here's the story...
    I came on an Active Directory administrator for an organization which has 600+ domain controllers, most running Server 2003, but I have some Server 2008R2. Throughout all this time the organization has had DCs that have stopped working, crashed or failed
    for some reason and all the IT department has done is created another domain controller name it the same thing with an (A), (B) appended to the name and then never removed any of the failed controllers from the directory.
    Thing is this has been going on for quite some time, don’t know for sure how long as I am still trying to clean up DNS replication problems and have been having to go around and reset machine passwords for the forest. What I need to be able to do is to script
    something that will return all the failed DCs so that I can go into the directory and use NTDUTIL to clean the machines. I don’t want to go into the directory and remove a machine that’s still out there. No one in the organization has a list or record of failed
    machines.
    You can see this may be a gargantuan task, but I need to be able to make it easier on
    myself by finding the machines first and cleaning out DNS, cleaning the DCs out of the “Sites” and cleaning them out of the directory.
    Appreciate any help I can get…

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting in the forum.
    Regarding your question, maybe we should remove these orphaned DC from AD, please try to refer to the following articles to perform the cleanup task.

  • Bpel deployment fails for all processes that have revision other than 1.0.

    Using: Release *10.1.3.3.1*
    Hello All,
    Bpel deployment fails for all processes that have revision other than *1.0*.
    We have been attempting to deploy several BPEL projects via ANT script to a target environment and are encountering failures to deploy for every project which isn’t a (revision 1.0). We are getting the following error whenever we try to deploy a process with a revision other than 1.0:

         at org.apache.tools.ant.launch.Launcher.main(Launcher.java:67)
    The structure of our automated deployment script is as follows:
    First, a batch script calls (Jdeveloper_BPEL_Prompt.bat) in order to set all necessary environment variables i.e. ORACLE_HOME, BPEL_HOME, ANT_HOME, etc for ant.
    Next, the script lists every .jar file within the directory to an .ini file called BPEL_List.ini. Furthermore, BPEL_DIR, ADMIN_USER and ADMIN_PSWD variables are set and initialized respectively to:
    -     “.” – point to directory where script is running from because all the BPEL processes are located here
    -     “oc4jadmin”
    -     “*********” (whatever the password for out environment is)
    We’ve developed a method to have the script prompt the user to select the target environment to deploy to. Once the user selects the appropriate environment, the script goes through the BPEL_List.ini files and a loop tells it that for every BPEL process listed:
    DO ant
    -Dprocess.name=%%b
    -Drev= !Rev!
    -Dpath=%BPEL_DIR%
    -Ddomain=default
    -Dadmin.user=%ADMIN_USER%
    -Dadmin.password=%ADMIN_PWD%
    -Dhttp.hostname=%HOST%
    -Dhttp.port=%PORT%
    -Dverbose=true
    (What’s happening is that the variables in the batch file are being passed on to the ANT script where *%%b* is the process name, !rev! is revision #, and so on…)
    The loop goes through each line in the BPEL_List.ini and tokenizes the BPEL process into 3 parts *(%%a, %%b, and %%c)* but we only extract 2 parts: *%%b* (process name) and *%%c* which becomes !Rev! (revision number).
    Example:
    Sample BPEL process:
    bpel_ThisIsProcess1_1.0.jar
    bpel_ThisIsProcess2_SOAv2.19.0.001B.jar
    After tokenizing:
    %%a     %%b     %%c
    bpel     ThisIsProcess1     1.0.jar
    bpel     ThisIsProcess2     SOAv2.19.0.001B.jar
    *!Rev!* and not *%%c* because *%%c* will return whatever the revision number is + the “.jar” file extension as illustrated above. So to circumvent this, we parse *%%c* so that the last 4 characters are stripped. Such is done like this:
    set RevN=%%c
    set RevN=!RevN:~0,-4!
    Hence, the usage of !Rev!.
    Below is a screenshot post of the ANT build.xml that goes with our script:

    SUMMARY OF ISSUE AT HAND:
    ~ Every bpel process w/ 1.0 revision deploys with no problems
    ~ At first I would get an invalid character error most likely due to the “!” preceding “Rev”, but then I decided to set rev=”false” in the build.xml file. That didn’t work quite well. In another attempt, I decided to leave the –Drev= attribute within the batch script blank. That still led to 1.0s going through. My next thought was deploying something other than a 1.0, such as 1.2 or 2.0 and that’s when I realized that if it wasn’t a 1.0, it refused to go through.
    QUESTIONS:
    1.     IS THERE A WAY TO HAVE ANT LOOK INTO THE BPEL PROCESS AND PULL THE REVISION ID?
    2.     WHAT ARE WE DOING WRONG? ARE WE MISSING ANYTHING?
    3.     DID WE GO TOO FAR? MEANING, IS THERE A MUCH EASIER WAY WE OVERLOOKED/FORGOT/OR DON’T KNOW ABOUT THAT EXISTS?

    Only thing i can think of is instead of using a MAC ACL , u cud jus use the default class
    Policy Map Test
    class class-default
    police 56000 8000 exceed-action drop

  • Right syntax to find all records of a class

    I want to find all records of a particular entity class available in DB. I find that the following query works fine when using Hibernate as JPA provider, but fails when using Glassfish's default (Toplink).
    SELECT p FROM com.mycompany.Person pAs per JPA spec, which is the correct form to refer to an entity class in queries? Is it the fully qualified name or only the simple name? If it is only the simple name, how do I manage rare cases where two different packages have classes with same name?

    Sorry for wasting users' time. A second look into the JPA spec answered it.
    For those coming across this problem, entity name of a class defaults to its unqualified class name. :)

    If you mean the ones that you've download to your library then with the new screen setup click on the button top left and select the content category that you want to view - or you can have the left-hand sidebar show as on previous iTunes via View > Show Sidebar (Option-Command-S) which might make it easier to navigate.

  • My table of contents does not use the entry style I select for words in the paragraph that have character styles applied to them in the chapter, so some of the letters are showing up as green, which is fine in the chapter but not in the TOC.

    My table of contents does not use the entry style I select for words in the paragraph that have character styles applied to them in the chapter, so some of the letters, specifically parameters, are showing up green, which is fine in the chapter but not in the TOC. I can manually fix this in the TOC by changing the character style to none after the toc  has been generated, but I don't want to do this.

  • How can I insert C structures that have character pointers into DBD file

    Hello~
    I am changing from a file system I made into DBD.
    And I had no choice to convert structures that have character point members
    to insert them into the DBD file
    for examble,
    If there is a structure as below
    typedef struct
    int IndexKey;
    int groupID;
    char* name;
    char* pNum;
    char* pAddr;
    char* pMemo;
    } TsomeRec;
    I made a structure to convert as below
    typedef struct
    int IndexKey;
    int groupID;
    char name[MAX_NAME_LEN];
    char pNum[MAX_NUM_LEN];
    char pAddr[MAX_ADDR_LEN];
    char pMemo[MAX_MEMO_LEN];
    } TsomeRec2;
    But, there are too many structures to convert.
    So, I am seeking for the most efficient way to insert these structures into DBD files, considering Performance.
    Frankly speaking, I'am not proficient.
    please describe as specific as possible.
    Thank you~

    Hi,
    Review the documentation section title Using C Structures with DB, in particular the subsection called C Structures with Pointers. It will explain the way to store structures that have pointers.

  • PowerShell - List all users that have access to a particular SPLIstItem

    Hi there,
    In PowerShell - how to list all users that have access to a particular SPLIstItem?
    Thanks so much in advance.

    Hi frob,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to list all users who have access to a particular SharePoint list item via PowerShell.
    You can use the following PowerShell command:
    $web = Get-SPWeb http://sp/sites/First
    $list=$web.Lists["listV2"]
    $item=$list.Items | where {$_['ID'] -eq 1}
    $item | Select -ExpandProperty RoleAssignments |Select {$_.Member.DisplayName}, {$_.Member.LoginName}, RoleDefinitionBindings
    In the above command, you need to change the web URL to your site's URL, change “listV2” to the name of your list, and change the ‘1’ to the ID of the list item.
    The result looks like:
