Find / Highlight limitations or bug?

I have SQL Developer 3.1 installed on my PC, and am finding the 'Find/Highlight' rather restrictive. Not sure if this is just a limitation, or whether it is a bug.
for example,
I can query individual numbers, dates, strings, and date ranges (i.e. > '01/01/2012').
However, I can not get clauses like 'in', 'like', between, or the % wildcard to work.
I have tried in both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10 SQLDEV 3.1 versions.
If someone else has got this to work please advise. Alternately, if this is just limited functionality let me know and I'll raise a feature enhancement request.

Hi Stuart,
I guess I somewhat misinterpreted your question. A filter should support SQL predicates having IN, LIKE, and so on, but I thought you were referring to the Find Text dialog. Ctrl-F displays that dialog for a SQL or PL/SQL code editor, or the Worksheet or Script Output. Find/Highlighting dialog only applies to the grids for Query Results or Object Viewer and does not offer an option for regular expressions.
Find Text does include an option for regular expressions, but it leaves something to be desired as the following thread shows:

    Hi All,
I know Taleo Recruiting but new in Taleo learn wanted to know the limitations and bugs which are currently available in Taleo Learn. Being you expert who have implemented Taleo learn, It will be greatly appreciated if you can share some of the information about those available bugs and limitations currently in Taleo Learn. That will really help me to compare about the product and easy to explain client at the time of explaining RFP functionalities technically.

    "Learn Java in a week"?
What do you mean by "learn"? If you mean be able to write Hello World and understand the bare bones basics of what goes into a simple Java program, maybe.
If you mean understand the language and API thoroughly enough to produce real, quality software, that's pretty unreasonable.

  • How to change the Find highlight color

I am trying to find out if there is a way to change the Find Highlight color in office 2013.
Every time I search for a word or anything it uses a light yallow to highlight that line or word, and I woudl like to replace the yellow with like a teal or a green or some other color that I'm not using already in my Word document. This way I can find out
were it is telling me It is because I have a lot of stuff already highlighted yallow, and when I click find and search for something in the Navigation window and it finds it. It also puts it as a lighter yellow and it confuses me.

    Hi,
As far as I know, we can't change the highlight color when using Find in Word. The highlight color is fixed.
As a workaround, you can try to use Advanced Find instead which will show the search result with a different color.

Does mac have an app that graphically finds & highlights file icons (especially on the desktop)?
This used to be available as a 3rd party app on older systems but I haven't seen it currently.
Sherlock just finds locations as a listing.

The easiest way is to use iPhoto, just drag the picture in to it. To resize it select the picture and in the menu bar "FILE - EXPORT". You can preform basic editing and corrections by double clicking on the picture.

  • Standard Report - Append Control Image Width Problem / Limitation or Bug?

I am trying to create a Standard Report and am having a hard time placing a XY Graph control on the report. My problem is I want to use the maximum page area to view the graph. For this reason, I am keeping the margins small and increasing the size of the control so that it occupies almost all of the page. What I find is that after a certain limit, the XY graph image output on the report does not increase in size even if you increase the control size. In fact the image will get worse with larger size once beyond the limit. No matter How I try, the Image will not occupy all the area between the Horizontal Margins.
Either this is a bug or undocumented limitation.
Ahh.. One other possibility exists, that I am not smart enough. But if some one can help me here, It will be greatly appreciated.
I am Using LV 8.2 on XP machine.
I am attaching the VI and two PDF files, In "MyReport w1000.pdf" The XY Graph is 1000 Pixels Wide. In "MyReport w2000.pdf" I made it 2000 Pixels wide, however the size of the image did not increase on the report. Also You can notice the difference in quality between the two reports.
To use my vi just size the graph to different sizes and run it, It will output to the default Printer. If you have a PDF writer set as default printer, It will save it to file.
If anyone can help, I thank you and wish you...
    Good Luck!
    Mache

I do not like Vivek's workaround. "Use HTML report"  is not acceptable when the question is about Standard report. People may want to use Standard report and there is a reason it is called standard.
Anyway one solution is to size the image to most optimum size - as large as possible but retaining the graphical quality. This will still leave you with large white spaces around your graph object.
Second solution that I am using is to Put the graph object and any other elements that I want on my report on a Front panel of a VI. Size the objects and front panel and objects appropriately and then use Print Panel to Printer method to Print the whole VI front panel. In my app. This VI which mimics the report is called from my app and is called Print Preview.  There is even a Vi that allows you to choose the printer. http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/1327
I am attaching a Sample Report and Code Snippet to look at.
    Good Luck!

  • Finder - Multiple files open - Bug persists in 10.6.2

    I upgraded to 10.6.2 yesterday. I have 3 Macs, a 24" iMac (Late 2007), a 2.53 GHz MacBook Pro (Feb 2009) and a Mac mini (March 2009).
I tested the previous problem of opening multiple jpg files from the Finder, and in some cases they all open in one Preview window, but in many cases they open in two Finder windows. I see this problem on all 3 my Macs.
This happens when I try to open a larger number of files, e.g. 30 or 40 files, typically they are around 40-100 kB big.
So this bug seems to be a bit better, but it still is there, it has not been fixed.

ok, hmmm do you have any thing thats set to open when you login? if not what i'd like you to do for me is test it in a new user. create a temp acct on the computer and see if it does it there. if it DOESN'T then from finder select go>home>library>preferences>and take the com.apple.finder.plist and move it to the desktop then restart. if it DOES happen in the second user then please let me know and ill see if if i can find any thing else other than to reinstall snow leopard. if you do have login items i'd like you to remove them and reboot to see if it still happens.

  • How do I find highlighted text, one-by-one, in a document?

    Hi,
I have highlighted many lines, texts at lot of places in a document.
I just want to "find" the hightlighted text one by one (like a find-next) so that I can just view the important information immediately.
Till now I have been scrolling and looking for highlighted text, which is definitely not a good way to do in a medium-large sized document.
    Thanks

  • BexGetData - Limitation or bug/problem ?

    Hello,
We are currently running BI 7 NW04s on Service Pack 9  (but with many notes applied to fix known issues).
I am attempting to determine the level of flexibility available with the BExGetData and "convert to fomula" functionality in the Bex Analyzer (Excel).
Am I correct in thinking that once you have "converted" your table to formulas you can only use the characteristic values that were displayed in the drill down prior to converting?
    For example, I have a report listing <u><b>Amount</b></u> by <u><b>Cost Centre</b></u> and <u><b>Cost element</b></u>.
On running the query I have the Cost Centre and Cost Element values filtered to a single value for each - giving me one row of data.
I then convert the values to formulas and attempt the replace the Cost Centre and Cost element characteristic values with other values where I know there are posted amounts in the cube. The formula always displays #NV , even though I know amounts exist.
A number is only returned when I key in the original values I had in the drill down prior to converting. This behaviour seems at odds with the description of BexGetData and convert to formula in the Netweaver help.
Can somebody please tell me if I am totally misunderstanding the extent of this new functionality.
    Thanks in advance,
    JCM

    Hello JCM2007,
I understand your problem and your question.
In my project the reporting-target is excel-analyzer and not the web.
We have several cubes concering to SAP-controlling.
Profit-Center-Accounting (and cc too) needs the following fields and values:
    Proft-Center
    Account
    Year/Period
    Version
    Plan/Act-mark
    Amount
The idea was, writing an Query to reduce the numer of fields and values, and
use it as a Dataprovider instead of the Cube (see SDN-show). (without variables)
    My first step was:
Rows: 0accounts (with one presentationhierarchy) expanded to all nodes and values
cols: 0amount, Year, Period, Version, Plan/act/Mark
Normaly I would like to have the profit-center in rows, but there is a limit
in Excel (65k).  So i put the Profit-Center into  the filter.
In this example I got a simple result, navigation works fine, when converted in
    formulars
But I want more flexibilty. I don't want use the filter-dialog and I don't want
    use variables.
Using profit-center and 0account in rows can only work, if I use
hierarchynodes and expand only (f.e.) to level 3. (see limitation of Excel < 2007)
After the first result, I convert to formular. And then I have the effect:
I only can swap values (Profit-Center or accounts) wich have allways been
listed (or included) in the first queryresult. For example, I swap the nodevalue
of a field of level 4. Here I got the #NV, because the hierarchy was expanded to
level 3. But there are values concerning to the entered value.
Whats the reason (maybe I was wrong)
You are right, the flexibility has a limit. Only values of the basic-query (bevore converting to formular) are availible when your entering new values.
But what can I do? I my opinion there is a bug in this function.
My interim solution works as follow:
    - You have your converted-to-formular Excel-result concerning to Dataprovider DP1.
    - You got #NV when entering an new Object (cost-center/profit-center)
    - Place a new design-item under your excel-layout (designmode)
    - Use the same dataprovider DP1.
    - exit the designmode.
    - You have the same result before converting to formular.
    - Now click right mouse button to querypropertys.
    - You see cols, rows and filter fields.
    - Change the selection of cols, rows or filter fields. (but do not delete the
selection-criteria) of the first excelresult (otherwise #NV is in the first result).
    - Choose only those selections you realy need.
    - go back to your queryresult.
    - Now you have a bigger resultarea.
    - So you can DELETE the designitem now, because You didn't need it.
    - Now try the first resultarea.
Swap values, and it will work fine.
    Be carefull:
If your query-resultarea is to large, you will become problems in excel.
The OLAP-resultarea (requested in the dataproviderquery) will be transported
to the local excel-cache. Your pc-cpu need 100% for a few minutes (50% dualcore)
and memory grows to 500 megabyte (in my example). In this environment, excel aborts and you have problems with the users.
Look for aggregates and combine nodes of object and accounts. (I have 40 aggregates because there are more then 2000 profit-center and costcenters)
The first result is much smaller when you use aggregates. But you must insert the designitem when you want enlarge your queryresult.
    Regards
    Roland

  • How to find description for the bugs fixed in a CPU ( Critical patch alert)

    Hi
I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out WHICH BUGS are fixed in the recent Critical patch alert
I looked into the README file of the patch ( in my case its 8534387 for Solaris SPARC ) - but even in the README file there is only the list of the bugs fixed:
+2.1 Bugs Fixed by This Patch+
This patch includes the following molecules:
    +7155248 - DB-10.2.0.4-MOLECULE-001-CPUJUL2008+
    +7155249 - DB-10.2.0.4-MOLECULE-002-CPUJUL2008+

    +7155251 - DB-10.2.0.4-MOLECULE-004-CPUJUL2008+
    +.....+
    +.....+
But its impossible to even find them in metallink by the bug ID !
I tried the first one and you get multiple document where this patch is mentioned , but no clear place for the bug description .
Is there a convenient way to know exactly the DESCRIPTION of each bug that was fixed in a CPU ?
    thanks in advance

OrnaDo a BUG search using the BUG ID rather than a Knowledge Base search. After that if you look closely at those multiple documents you mentioned that was returned, there should be only one for your Platform and for your product. Ignore the rest and click on only the one relevant to your Platform and Product.

  • Finding HIGHLIGHTED file in JFileChooser

    Hi all,
How do I find the currently HIGHLIGHTED file in JFileChooser? All I've been able to find is how to get the currently selected file (after 'approve' has been hit).
I want to display imformation regarding each file as it is HIGHLIGHTED by the user.
Any code snippets would help a lot!
    Many thanks.

  • How to find, highlight and save.

I tried to find the answer, but couldn't...
I need to process several PDF files to:
         - Open the file
         - Search for a given string in the file
         - Highligt the line containing the text (the kind of highlighting is not very important: color, rectangle, ...)
         - Save the modified PDF
I have Adobe Acrobat and want to develop a program (C, C++, C#, ...) to do this work. I think it can be done with the SDK, but I'm a bit lost in the documentation and the several options.
Could you help me, please ??

I tried something simple (opening the file and saving with another
    name).
After doing that, I tried to find a word in the file, etc. I had some problems in C# (I don't like to use "InvokeMethod, etc.), so I decided to use VB.NET (VisualStudio 2008).
Just now, I know how to use the API for the basic things (open the file, save with another name, find a word, get the number of pages, etc).
Because of your idea of using some JavaScript, I tried that for adding an annotation. I had to read several files in the documentation to get the information, but I managed to add an annotation (type "Square": a red rectangle somewhere in the page). It's a bit difficult, but... I did it.
When you use the JavaScript object, the things get complicated, because you can't get information about some properties (the properties for an annotation.
    I have two problems:
    - The position in the page: I managed to find the rectangle for an annotation I put interactively, and used that to place my new annotation. But I really need to place the rectangle using the coordinates from a text I find in the PDF. What's the better way to find the coordinates for a text ??
    - I found an example that compares a text with every word in the document. When it finds a match, it gets the page number and the word number. Maybe I could use that with other methods, to find the rectangle I need, but............I want to find a match for a string, not only a word. I mean: I need to match "this is the string". Maybe there is a way to do that ??
Do you think I'm going in the right direction or I need to use another approach, another library, ....  ??
    Thank you again

No, there are many, but it depends on the file you are looking at.
If you right-click, for example, Extensions.mkext in the System Library you will see listed
    system

    everyone.
These are special users and groups that are important for the proper running of BSD.

  • Finder Disk supposed Alias bug

please check the youtube links reporting a huge 10.6 finder bug.
I thought it was a network issue only, but when I plugged the drive to a USB port the problem persisted and got even worst.
Cause this is a new OS, I tried Terminal into the disk drive data, 'voila', the data is there and it lists the content of the drive.
    NETWORK http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiUFHPB6_FE
    USB --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXiv_mRZXU0
Apple, please fix this ASAP or report a workaround till an update is released.
If someone knows a workaround please help.
    thanks in advance.

Had I known this would happen I would have waited to install 10.6. I have the same problem. I can mount my Airport shared disk which I use only for Time Machine but, now I can't open it because it's telling me it's an alias and to find the original. I guess I'll let Time Machine continue backing up to it. But, it would be nice if Apple came up with a fix.

  • Finding highlighted text in Pages using Applescript

Hi guys, I'm writing a script that will parse through a Pages document and retun me the indices of the first and last characters of each block of text which is highlighted with a given colour. I do have a script that works, the only problem is it runs very slowly.
Here's what I have at the moment:
    tell application "Pages"
              tell front document
--colour to test for in RGB (0 to 65535)
                        set testColour to {65535, 0, 65535}
                        set lastCharColour to missing value
set N to (count of characters)
                        set indexArray to {}
                        repeat with i from 1 to N
set thisCharColour to character background color of character i
--add the character if it is highlighted
      --and the previous one wasn't
if thisCharColour is testColour and lastCharColour is not testColour then
set end of indexArray to i
--or add the previous one if this one is
--not highlighted and the previous one was
else if thisCharColour is not testColour and lastCharColour is testColour then
set end of indexArray to (i - 1)
                                  end if
      --update the previous character's colour
                                  set lastCharColour to thisCharColour
                        end repeat
--if there are an odd number in the list,
--the document must end with a highlight,
--so we'll add the last character
if ((count of indexArray) mod 2) = 1 then
set end of indexArray to N
                        end if
                        get indexArray
              end tell
    end tell
I'm parsing over every character in the document, and adding the index to a list if its background has changed colour either to or from the specified colour. It seems to be that the "get character background color of character i" call inside the loop is what's taking a long time. I have tried caching off a list of all the colours as a first step and then just comparing against an item in that list, but it's not significantly faster (in fact it might even be slower, I aborted it because it was taking too long).
I know in MS Word it is possible to do a find operation to find characters which are highlighted in a particular colour, so I was sondering if it was possible to do something similar in Pages, or can anybody think of a way to streamline my logic here?
    Thanks,
    Andy

However, I've just realised, my reason for getting the character indices was so as I could, in a subsequent step, get the characters themselves. I can modify your script to get the actual characters as well as the character offsets, and then where there's a break in the character offsets I can split the characters into substrings, as below:
    set theBackgroundColor to {0, 65535, 0}
    getCharIndex(theBackgroundColor)
    on getCharIndex(bgColor)
              script o
                        property myList : {}
                        property charList : {}
              end script
tell application "Pages" to tell front document
set o's myList to character offset of (characters whose its character background color is bgColor)
set o's charList to (characters whose its character background color is bgColor)
              end tell
set tc to count o's myList
              if tc = 0 then return {}
              set i to 1
              set blockArray to {}
              set lastBlockEnd to 0
              repeat while i < tc
set N to item i of o's myList
                        repeat with J from (i + 1) to tc
                                  set N to N + 1
set n1 to item J of o's myList
if N is not n1 then
set end of blockArray to ((items i thru (J - 1) of o's charList) as text)
                                            set lastBlockEnd to (J - 1)
                                            exit repeat
                                  end if
                        end repeat
                        set i to J
              end repeat
set end of blockArray to ((items (lastBlockEnd + 1) thru tc of o's charList) as text)
      return blockArray
    end getCharIndex
This has all your speed advantages, and still gets me the end result I'm after.
