Find IdSpecialCharacter VB CS2

I am trying to find out what the special character id is for the characters inserted when you tag an xml element. Does anyone know how to determine the special character id for a selected character?

Hi carlo,
Since CS2 doesn't have grep searching (CS3 does), you have to mix InDesign searching with JavaScript regular expressions. Here's how it would work:
1. Read the contents of a story into a JavaScript string.
2. Use a JavaScript regular expression to find all of the text that matches a pattern. This will produce an array of matches.
3. Sort the list of matches and then remove duplicate matches from the list.
4. Then use the InDesign search method to search for the text of the found matches and do whatever it is you want to do. Remember to iterate backwards over the found text objects if you intend to change the text (to avoid invalid references).
Thanks,
Ole

  • Using Find/Change in CS2

Is it possible to search for a single number (such as 1 or 2) without the results including multiple numbers (like 12 or 123 or 1234)?

Selecting the "Words only" option will do that. It'll still find the 1 in "1-2", but not in either "12" or "123", so it's a bit better than plain search.

  • 10.4.6 and Photoshop CS2

I have found that I am not alone in my finding that Photoshop CS2 crashes when saving files opened from remote volumes. A workaround has been to "downgrade" the appleshare client software to 10.4.5 .. I guess my question is, will apple be addressing this "real" issue with a patch of some sort? And yes, I know how to drag files to my local drive and then drag them back, but theorectically I shouldn't have to if previous versions worked without fail??? I also know I've mentioned an Adobe product...but the culprit seems to be the OS here. BTW: Adobe won't support remote volumes/networks connections. Pardon my frustration, but when trying to upgrade 9 boxes in my shop (OS, and applications) and running into the inevitable snags really chaps me! I waste so much time trying to make everything work correctly only to have to undo what I did to get any workflow.
    How's everyone else doing? thanks

thanks guys, for the insights...I am inclined to agree with you regarding development. Mean time, Jim...can you tell me more of your settings? If things are working for you, maybe they can for me as well without having to replace resource files from an old OS. What kind of volume are you pulling from or writing to?

  • How to uninstall CS2?

Is there an uninstall application for CS2 like CS3 or is it a manual uninstall.
I just can't find anything about CS2 on Adobe.

Just put it in the trash. then empty.
be sure there is nothing you need in in the creative suite that you may need like imageReady or Indesign for conversions. If you delete CS2 then need it later you must uninstall CS3 to reinstall CS2.
I find it is much easier to leave CS2 alone than delete it to save space.

  • GoLive CS2 to GoLive CS

    Hola
I made a website in GoLive CS2 long time ago (about 3 years)
I made that website in my ex computer
I moved, change office, etc, and I don't have CS2 but I have CS (Golive)
Well, the other day, I tried to open the website in GoLive CS, but got a
warning that said that I cannot open it, because it was made in a "Much Newer Version"
    Are you kidding me?
    How can I open it?
    Can I?
Do I need a plug it?
    R U Seriousus?
    What can I do?
I cannot find anywhere GoLive CS2 and or I don't want to pay $399 for it
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Daniel Ulysses

"In CS, try making a new site from existing content."
    Hola Kath-H
    How can I do this?
And about the other CD, well, it was my ex who had it.  I don't see her anymore, so, I don't have it
I try to call Adobe and ask for a upgrade --to CS2-- but they said that it was not possible.
I also try to buy one of those in a website, but "they" don't have the program alone, so
its even more than $390 or so.
I try to open it in DW, it open --finally-- and I was able to change the only 2 changes
that they requirer, but I'm not sure that if I upload it, it may change other stuff or not work at all
Friday I bought  GoLive CS 2 from a OMB or something like that a downloadable program
They addvertise that its automatic, once you pay, you can download it,
    Guess what?
Its not true, now I have to wait 24 hours ( now are 48 and still waiting)
    So, there's where I am.
Waiting for that program, hoping that I don't have to change much on that website.
Another thing, I have a nav made in MenuMachine, that when I open it in DW, DW cannot "see" it or can not show it.
However, when I preview in explorer, it's there. My mmm...fear is that if I upload it, Is everything going to be there?
    I don't know, will see
    Thanks

  • Automatically Attaching (Or Inserting) Selected Photos Into Email Message

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 3.0 to Photoshop CS2 and the one feature that I can't seem to find in Photoshop CS2 is an automated method for resizing photos and automatically attaching or inserting the photos into an email message. Elements 3.0 has a feature that allows you to select the photos you would like to send in Photoshop Organizer and then select a menu option that will resize the images for emailing and automatically attached the photos to new email message or insert the photos into the body of the message with a user selectable frame around each message.
Although I still have Photoshop Elements 3.0 installed, I'd prefer to work in Photoshop CS2 as much as possible but I can't seem to find any similar feature either in Adobe Bridge or in Photoshop. Does anyone know if there's any easy way to automatically email photos from Adobe Bridge/Photoshop CS2 similar to the feature included with Photoshop Elements 3.0?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, there a number of very useful features in Elements that Adobe seems to leave out of CS2 for some unexplained reason. Elements is actually better at a bunch of useful things than CS2 is. That I don't understand.
Anyway, if you want to select several images in Bridge and make image sizes appropriate for email, you can do that. It's not as simple as in Elements, but not that hard either.
Just select the images you want to attach. Select Tools/Photoshop/Image Proccesor from the menus. This will open up Photoshop and bring up a dialog. You can then select a folder location, JPEG as the file type, [X] Resize to Fit and enter a pixel height and width appropriate for email depending upon how big you want the images to be and [X] Convert profile to sRGB and go. It will then makes JPEGs for you of the requested size. You, then finish the process by manually attaching them to an email in your email client.

  • Where To Download PhotoShop CS Educational Version?

Title pretty much says it all.  I had my XP crash and needed to do a 'non-destructive' restore.  Since then I cannot access CS2.  I have the disc and serial for CS2 but cannot find the one for CS.  CS2 will not allow install and says information or serial # is missing from CS.  I have CS2 registered and had CS registered also....only CS2 is in my adobe account.  Any ideas?  I've searched for a CS download and cannot find one.
CS2 is an upgrade disc from CS.
Let me confuse us all a little more.  The CS2 is not an educational version...I converted to 'regular'.  It had been running since 06 until the crash.  Files are still on the system just cannot open the program.

Usually (I would say always, but not 100% sure for all products) you may install an upgrade 2 ways
1 - upgrade installer "sees" a qualifying product that is already installed
2 - you give upgrade installer a PREVIOUS serial # when asked
For the future... make a file and be very careful to put all serial #'s in that file
Also... Hardware crashes or virus infections or simple software problems happen, so you should buy AND USE software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)
The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm
Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

  • Photoshop CS and Windows 8.1

I am getting a new laptop with Windows 8.1.  I have Photoshop CS.  Will it work on it?  Or what do I need to do to get the software to work?

It would work except that adobe shut down the activation servers for photoshop cs/cs2, so you wouldn't be able to activate photoshop cs once you got it installed.
You can download the non activation version of photoshop cs2 as a replacement and use the serial number provided on the same page.

You might find that photoshop cs2 doesn't run that great on windows 8.1, so you could try it or consider getting photoshop cs6 (perceptual license like you have now) or cc 2014 (subscription)
both of which work much better on windows 8.1

  • Can i run Adobe cs4 and Aperture 3.4.5 on mountain lion?

I have downgraded from mountain lion back to snow leopard only to find my old cs2 won't work,so i have decided to go back to mountain lion and upgrade to CS4.I just want confirmation that i will be able to use CS4 and Aperture 3.4.5 with mountain lion before i waste more $$$ please, cheers.

Yes, you can.  CS6 would probably be a better option but CS4 will work.  And Aperture 3.4.5 is the latest version and runs well on Mountain Lion.  Aperture 3.3 and later require Lion or Mountain Lion; they won't run on Snow Leopard.

  • Where can I download Photoshop 6, no not CS6?

    Hello,
I have an original upgrade cd for Photoshop 6, no not CS6, but it is damaged. So now Adobe made old versions up to CS2 freely available, I would like to download the contents of a Photoshop 6 upgrade cd. I only can find the free CS2 download. Can anyone tell me where I can find Photoshop 6, so I can use it on my vintage Mac?
    Thanks,
    Ad

As far as I know, no one has Photoshop 6 available for download - it precedes the earliest versions available thru the archive of links at http://prodesigntools.com/. which is the primary resource for acquiring original trial versions.
The CS2 download is not free, nor is any other Adobe software that was sold in the past - it is available to people who already purchased the software and need to reinstall.

  • Illustrator 9.0 to Cs 2?

    Hi ,
Can anyone tell me if I can upgrade from Illustrator 9.0 to Cs2?
I need the live trace feature.   Thanks,  Rob

    Adobe no longer sells CS2.
However, if you were to find a legal CS2 upgrade somewhere then yes, the serial number from AI9 will allow you to install the CS2 upgrade.

  • Unable to install InDesign CS4

I'm the It person that has to install software for my users and here's today's headscratcher.  My user has InDesign CS2 installed and working on his XP computer.  I try to install InDesign CS4 upgrade and the installer says it can't find the previous version in the standard location.  It's there, I checked.  Anyway, I offer it the serial number that I got off Adobe's own licensing website.  The installer says nope not a valid serial number.  Remember this came from Adobe's own website, but whatever.  I install the demo version, try to license it and it still can't find the working CS2 installation and won't take the CS2 serial number.
So tell me how am I suppose to get CS4 Upgrade to install in this scenerio?

    First -- don't even ask.
All the answers are YES.  I have adequate hardware.  Brand new MacBookPro.  Lots of RAM, hard drive space. fast Intel Core Duo.
Have spent the equivalent of, I think, 143 weeks talking to Adobe (a) tech support and (b) customer support folks who all say and do the same thing:
    1) Send canned, prepacked responses that ignore your original message
    2) Act surprised to learn that the InDesign installer STILL HANGS UP WHILE "CHECKING SYSTEM PROFILE...."
    3) Recommend all kinds of bizarre, ridiculous solutions --- implying it's probably the customer's fauilt.
    4) Don't speak good English
    5) Never  check back to see if the problem is solved or the customer has decided to throw himself (and his adobe software) off a cliff
Personal judgments are totally unfair, of course.   But in the spirit of unfairness, what Adobe provides is  Adobe's unspeakable indefensible handling of this situation in specific -- and customer service in general.
Its customer base is riddled with customers who've paid for and received a NONWORKING product.  A defective product. Period.  If this were a prescription drug or a car, the govt would have ordered recalls by now.
Adobe's labrynthine, convoluted recommended "fixes"  (delete and reinstall all your Adobe products....reinstall your system software .... go stand in the rain and burn incense .... whatever) is like Ford Motor telling the customer:  "Yes, we admit the defect.  But, hey, at least we feel bad about it. Why don't you try selling your car and buying a new one."
Am a syndicated newspaper columnist.  Have already got the draft of a very funny 700-word commentary to distribute about this.  Adobe will hate it. But I'm sure we'll both get over it.
    Eeegads.
    Dear Adobe:
For the record, only  SOME of the people with the Install/Setup issue (installer freezes at about 90% while checking system profiler) have inadequate hardware. Most have adequate hardware.  We've all  read the bulletins and bulletin boards. So has Adobe.  We know it; Adobe knows it.  Adobe knows it because ALL OF US HAVE SPENT HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH ADOBE ONLY TO CONFIRM THAT (A) OUR HARDWARE IS MORE THAN ADEQUATE AND (B) THEY HAVEN'T A CLUE WHAT WE SHOULD DO.
This is one the largest software makers in the world.  They have enough programmers and engineers on their janitorial staff to fix this...make the nightmare go away.  How?  Produce a NEW installer that is not affected by whatever it is that is affecting the current one!  (I'm a genius, right?)  Or a two-part installer that first scans and fixes the obstacle, THEN installs InDesign. (I'm also flexible)
Adobe's failure to do this -- more than eight months after being made  aware of the problem -- is not one of this company's finer moments.

It's time to consider new hardware.

Then why are the guides unlocked when I reopen a document that I saved with the guides locked ?
