Find my iPod and secure Wi-Fi

I've looked, but can't seem to find the answer to this question. Does anyone know if Find My iPod will work on a secured Wi-Fi source? Example, someone finds my iPod and takes it home where (s)he has an active, but password protected, Wi-Fi router. My iPod will locate the network but won't have the password to connect to it. In that scenario will I be able to locate and send a message to my iPod using Find My iPod?

OK. I figured out how to test this at home. My desktop computer has a hardwire connection to the router. So I shut off the wifi broadcasting in the router. My iPod no longer connected to my network, but it did show another password secured network with excellent strength. Using my desktop, I sent out a Find My iPod message. The iPod could not be located.
This means that Find My iPod will only work under the limited circumstances that it is lost at (or taken to) a place with free unsecured wifi or if the finder/thief manages to crack my iPod password, puts his router's password on my iPod and doesn't turn off the Find My iPod function, a very doubtful scenario.
So essentially on an iPod, Find My iPod is a pretty useless tool (except, by beeping, to find it where you left it in your own house).

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • How to find the Connection and Security Code for iPad?

I have a Canon ImageRunner 3025 at the office. I want to connect it with my iPad. I've downloaded the Canon Print & Scan App, but the app requires a Connection code and Security code.  Where can I find this on the printer?

Hi, thanks for posting! Canon does not provide direct support for imageRUNNER series products, but your dealer will be able to help you! If you don't have a dealer, please call us at 1-800-OKCANON (652-2666) and we will be happy to provide dealers who are in your area.

  • I cant find my ipod and it doesnt have wifi

my ipod is missing I cant find it and its not connected to wifi

Hey teacherpet12345, If your iPod is offline, you have one option. Go physically look for it, like you would for a lost wallet. Happy hunting, Good luck. Cheers.

  • I lost my my ipod touch (generation 3) - i only had music and photos on it - no mail enabled.  i am wondering if someone finds my ipod and tries to use it, will they be able to download the photos to their computer?

i lost my ipod touch (gen 3) it had only music and photos on it. no mail enabled but passlock off.   i am worried if someone finds it, they will be able to download the fotos by connecting to a new computer and not syncing but just downloading.  that is the case, right?

There are ways to get content off the iPod from another computer, yes. Someone has to know a bit about what they're doing, though, but it's not horrendously difficult. So it is possible that someone could get your photos.
    Regards.

  • My computer is no longer finding the ipod and...

my ipod is stuck on the 'do not disconnect' screen.. I tried everything! what do i do???

    Hello 6underwood,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
    iOS: Troubleshooting car stereo connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581
If you are experiencing difficulties with the connection between your stereo and device, disconnect the device, and then power cycle the stereo and your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. When the Home screen reappears, reconnect your device. If you cannot power cycle the stereo, turn the car off and then back on to allow the stereo to power off.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • How would i reset my iPod without turning off my iCloud and "find my iPod" its been almost a year and i can't do anything about it neither can Apple and i have called them many times... should i just not use it ever?

my iPod says that i need the iCloud password and i already had put it in and it is saying it is wrong... so I'm trying to totally reset my iPod touch but i have to turn off the "find my ipod" and i have to sign into my iCloud so i was wondering how to reset it... Is it possible or should I just throw it away?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Can apple help me find my iPod touch 5g??? I have already reported it to the police and they haven't called back, i also have the find my iPhone app in it but I don't have the location thingy turned on so what else can I do to locate it pleazz help this iPod is relly valuable to me I had gotten it for Christmas and now I proved that I can't be trusted with it HELP :c

Police don't "track down" lost items, per se. They'll keep your information on file in the event that someone finds your iPod and turns it in. Otherwise, there's nothing the police can or will do in regards to finding lost property.
Sorry, but your iPod is most likely gone for good.
    Regards.

  • I haven't installed "Find My iPod" but Is there any other way I can find my iPod touch?

I didn't Install "Find My iPod" and I now cannot find my iPod touch..
Is there any way that I may be able to find it?
Have turned house upside down and called every store I went into on the day - still no luck ):
    would really appreciate your help!

Just the old fashioned way, like if you lost your wallet.
    Apple will not help.
If it is in your home and wifi is on and connected you can call it with FaceTime, Skype or other app that will play a notification sound and listen for it.
Report to police and change the passwords for all account used on the iPod
