Find process in aix server

Hi all,
I want to "check for a process is running , if its running , go ahead and kill that else send an alert email"
,  using shell script in aix server.
version:
uname -a
AIX XXXXXXXX
1 7 00CFC0F34C00
i googled online and got some ideas.
if [ "$(ps axu | grep  process_name )" ]
then
kill statement goes here
else
email statement goes here.
Is this correct? or any other condition or modification do i need? Kindly advice.
Regards,
Pradeep. V

Moderator Comment:
You should go find an AIX discussion forum for your question.
AIX is not Linux and there might be idiosyncrasies in your OS that do not exist in other operating environments (such as Linux).
If you ask your question in an AIX forum you will get replies from people that know that OS.
Since your inquiry is beyond the scope of this LINUX discussion forum, it doesn't belong here.
It is now locked.

  • Dedicated Server Process or Shared Server Process

    Hi,
I am little confused to justify the number of users that may be best to use dedicated server process or shared server process.
    Kindly advice.

In addition, make sure you account for administrative issues. It's a lot more challenging to trace applications using shared server connections. Shared server configurations also tend to introduce a variety of gotchas into a DBA's world-- at a minimum, most articles you find on the internet tend to ignore any shared server specific issues. That's one of the reasons that I tend to be of the opinion that if you have to ask, you probably don't need to enable shared server.

  • Can PI connect to AIX server directory

    Hello Everyone,
My scenario is, that customer wants to send the XLS file from AIX server to PI
So, is it possible to connect with there sever and if yes then how ?
Also, whether PI can connect to "AIX file directory" and fetch file from there server or they have to drop the file in XI directory ?
    Regards,
    Ravi

    >Also, whether PI can connect to "AIX file directory" and fetch file from there server or they have to drop the file in XI directory ?
if PI Server and AIX shares the network file system, then you can use file adapter as the sender and poll the file and process the data. Basically AIX server drop the file in the network file system and PI sender file adapter access it for processing. Hope u understand.

  • How to access file from AIX server to windows

    HI all,
My question is how to represent file folder name of that server
my file folder in AIX server and i want to access that file in window s machine.
    * is this the right way to represent the data folder in physical schema declaration
    file:///<aix server IP>/usr/oracledi/oracldi/data

No, it is not. Filename magic alone will not do the job.
AIX supports NFS (network file system) or you can use samba (implementation of the Microsoft SMB protocol to share resources in Un*x) .

  • How to find process chain using background job in sm37

How to find process chain using background job in sm37

Better is to select the job.
Select (Define) Step (s) or F6.
Select the line and Menu Goto>Variant.
The variant contains the name of the CHAIN and its VARIANT.
    Success
We faced an old job and via job monitoring we were informed about a cancelled job every 'interval'.
We noticed that the related chain was deleted but still the job was scheduled each interval again and was cancelled because an event was missing
We could not find the scheduled job via SM37.
Via view V_OP, view over tbtco abd tbtcp, we find the related entry.
We delete these entries via function BP_JOB_DELETE....

  • How can I find out the mail server from email address?

    Hi:
How can I find out the mail server from email address?
for example: If I know the email address is [email protected],
how to find the pop3 and smtp mail server?
    THANK YOU

You can't tell by the email address since you can pretty much put whatever you want in there (especially if the SMTP server is not filtering anything).
The header may be able to tell you something. There is a Received header value which looks like it has the routing information although I am not sure if this is a complete trace or just the last hop the message took.

  • AIX 5.2 : how to pass password value while creating a user on AIX server

    Hi ,
Test connection is successful with AIX server , I can successfully create a user on AIX server, with defualt password.
I am not passing the any password value still some default value is being populated for the user...
In AIX while creating the user , use get force to set the password...
But while configuring the schema for AIX adapter ...if password attribute is given then it will give the error
as invalid attribute...while creating a user if password value pass...
how to set the password for the user..what attribute need to set for the password .
    thanks ..

The default password might be the IdM account password of the user you are trying to provision. You don;t need to keep password in the resource schema. Just set password.password and password.confirmPassword and select AIX resource for password reset. Check the workflow-form-views document for more information on password view.

  • How to find out the application server info

Hi, I am wondering how to find out the application server info in Java code, just like how to find out the db platform being used. Thanks

    Hi,
I am not aware of any spec defined way of finding out such info. There may be vendor specific APIs or mechanisms.
But you can use environment entries in your deployment descriptors to specify the information and make use of the entries inside your j2ee component. That will make your code platform neutral.

  • Moving Oracle 9i database from AIX server to Sun Solaris 9 server

I want to move my oracle 9i database residing on AIX server to Sun Solaris 9 server.
The database residing on AIX server has the following features :-
    1. It is a production database.
    2. Running in NOARCHIVE LOG Mode.
    3. It was Live for few weeks, hence transactions are stored on it.
    4. It has one schema,around 700 tables & 129 views.....etc
    5. Huge downtime is affordable.
What is the safest way to do so ??
    Yachendra

    Hi Yachendra,
    1. It is a production database.
    2. Running in NOARCHIVE LOG Mode.By the way do you have any idea that PRODUCTION databases are always kept in ARCHIVE LOG Mode. It's is highly advice able.
    3. It was Live for few weeks, hence transactions are stored on it.If you are really serious about your data and don't want to lose anything and wants to perform CROSS PLATFORM you must make sure that you have all your achive logs.
my oracle 9i database residing on AIX serverYou have already got the solution regarding that. Maran has told you for EXPORT/ IMPORT and Burleson has given you enough documents to consult.
    Thanks

  • "find" process User =nobody [?], using up to 90% of CPU = G5Quad [??? !]

This one is for the PPC G5 Quad pros:
Had been working for hours on my Mac Pro (different machine, I know) with my networked G5 Quad supposedly idling in the background.
The only open applications on the G5 Quad are Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Bridge CS4, the main reason for my keeping the G5 at this point, because of vital plug-ins that are not Intel-compatible and are absolutely irreplaceable and mandatory.  (I do have Ps CS5 and CS6 on the Mac Pro.  Both aforementioned applications had no open documents.  I have not actually used then in about six weeks, so the chance of Bridge building or rebuilding caches id very low.
Alerted by a sudden, very substantial increase of fan and liquid pump activity in my essentially idle G5 Quad, I switched the shared monitors inputs to it and was not surprised by the temperatures, almost all showing no more than 49ºC/121º.
Launched the Activity Monitor, which was showing a Process named "find" owned by a User named "nobody" using up to 90º% of the CPU column.
Terminated said process, only to see it become active again a short time (few minutes) later.
While typing this post, with interruptions, (20 minutes or so) the "nobody" user disappeared, as did the "find" process. some 15 minutes later, the fan and pump activity ended, returning to the G5's normal vigorous hum.
It has been running normally for about 30 minutes now, with very quiet sound levels.
Obviously, I'm mystified because all of this is above my pay grade.
I have a bunch of questions:
1.— Why on Earth is/was there a user named "nobody" working my machine so hard?  What  or who can it be?
2.— What is a "find" process, especially on a supposedly idle machine?
2.— Any chance my computer has been hacked and overtaken by a "third party"?
    3.— Should I be worried?   I am.
4.— What steps would you recommend I take at this point?
Thanks in advance to all.  I look forward to hearing from old Apple forum friends. 

on thing I noticed... SP 13 is not that stable...
Hint: ask your technical guys to implement support pack 14... I think your problem will be solved then... because you say you only have this problem since you upgraded...
