Find the presence of a string in a schema

i have a problem
I want to create a procedure where i input the schema name.
The procedure should check all the tables and attributes in that schema and check whether data is begining with "ABCD".
If so it should give the table name and attribute name
Please help me

As it happens I am working on an application at the moment that does have this requirement. This system is a (I thought) a very unusual one; that's why I'm interested to discover what business problems other people are solving.
We don't use dynamic SQL driven off the data dictionary. That would be Teh Suck, performance-wise. So if this is a genuine business function (rather than a developer's hack) you probably need to start thinking outside the box on this one.

The error posted seems to indicate that the DB Link is not functional at all. Has it worked for any other type of DML operation or is this the first time you ever tried to use the link?

How do i find the length of a string??

trying to use the substring, I know the beginIndex (in my case 10), but the string will vary in size and so i need to find the last character and set it as the endIndex, how do i do this?

int endIndex)Returns a new string that is a substring of this string. The substring begins at the specified beginIndex and extends to the character at index endIndex - 1. Thus the length of the substring is endIndex-beginIndex.
Examples:
"hamburger".substring(4, 8) returns "urge"

beginIndex - the beginning index, inclusive.
endIndex - the ending index, exclusive.

To substring the string where u know the begin index and want to extract till the end use the following function from the String class of the java.lang package
String substring(int beginindex);
String test = "Hello";
String xx = test.substring(1);
The Value stored in xx will be ello
This is in case u need till the end of the String
If wanna skip the last character u can
use
String substring(int beginindex,int endindex);
String test = "Hello";
String xx = test.substring(1,test.length()-1);
The Value stored in xx will be ell

Wondering if there's a way in PowerShell to find the length of a given string in pixels?

That would depend on the font used to draw it, including size, bold / italic, etc. Assuming you know those things, there's a TextRenderer.MeasureText method in the Windows Forms library:

          Why the Class and to String like such? my license.bea
          is not a cluster version.

How to find the new tables and columns in a schema

hi..good morning to all...
I have a schema ABC which owns some objects.
Now some days before I have made another schema XYZ which was a replica of ABC schema.
between these days some new tables, new columns in the existing tables(with or without default value), comments on the columns are being added in the new schema i.e XYZ schema.
Now I have to find the extra things which are present in the new schema. I need to find the new tables, new columns in hte existing tables, their default values and descriptions of those.
Can u plss help me how can I find it?
I am guessing that I have to write a SQL query with a minus clause but I am not able to write it and also dont know where should I execute it.

And moreover, when I am executing the query to get the desired result, then it is throwing "illegal use of long datatype" error and pointing to the b.data_default area of my query..

How to find the FND_PROFILE.VALUE(ORG_ID) in custom apex schema

How to find the FND_PROFILE.VALUE('ORG_ID') from dual in custom schema......
Actually I have integrated Apex 4.2 version with EBS r12
select FND_PROFILE.VALUE('ORG_ID') from dual ; in apps schema I m getting 198 value
but the same query(select apps.FND_PROFILE.VALUE('ORG_ID') from dual ) in custom schema (XXCVBB) returning null value..
Is there any pre steps I have to do...
kindly provide the useful inputs to retrieve the profile value..........

Hi,
fnd_profile.value('ORG_ID'); will fetch you value only if there is a organization assigned to any application [or only if its a single Org], being it custom application you should have used set policy context or mo_global.init to populate the global temporary table which will hold all the Org's which that specific user has access too.
in your custom code use MO_GLOBAL.SET_POLICY_CONTEXT('S','ORG ID WHICH YOU NEED TO SET');
after setting the policy context, you should be able to see value from fnd_profile.value('ORG_ID');

This procedure has two parameters
p_access_mode
Pass a value "S" in case you want your current session to work against Single ORG_ID
Pass a value of "M" in case you want your current session to work against multiple ORG_ID's

MO_GLOBAL.INIT
Purpose of mo_global.init :-
It will check if new Multi Org Security Profile is set, to decide if new Security Profile method will be used.
If the new MO security profile is set, then mo_global.init inserts one record, for each Organization in Org Hierarchy, in table mo_glob_org_access_tmp

Finding the length of a string

hi im pretty new to all this,
I am adding a part to my very basic program where the user can type "y" or "n" after they are being asked if they want to continue, I have been able to do this ok but im trying to make the program as air-tight as possible and i'm having troubble with the error checking.
I have told the program what to do next based on the first character the user has typed (character 0), I would like my prorgam to prevent continuation if more than one character was entered into the string. At present it still recognises ydr (example) as a valid entry, is there anyway i can detect if there is more than one character in the sting? by doing so i'll be able to throw back an error to the user.
