Finding Dmenu's window class?
Normally I would simply run xprop in a terminal and click on the window in question with the cross hairs. However, for the dmenu "window" this procedure yields no result. Any idea how I could find dmenu window class so I can style and position it using devilspie2?
I already tried a few obvious guesses for dmenu's window class. "Dmenu_run," "dmenu" and "Dmenu" don't work.

dmenu does not set these properties.
What are you trying to change with devilspie? You know dmenu can be configured for most things you'd want to change?
If you need to use devilspie, you could just add a resource class declaration to the dmenu code and recompile.
Just add the following 5 lines at line 609 in dmenu.c (changing a_name and a_class to be whatever you want them to be):
XClassHint *hint = XAllocClassHint();
hint->res_name = "a_name";
hint->res_class = "a_class";
XSetClassHint(dc->dpy, win, hint);
XFree(hint);

Dumb Q: problem with Find And Replace window in Flash 8
Dear Flash Group,
apologies if this is trivial, it's my first day using Flash.
I downloaded a Flash project from
http://www.flashorb.com/articles/benchmark_files/flash-benchmark.zip.
This
flash calls into a web service at localhost:8080. I used the
'Find and
Replace' window within Flash Professional 8 to locate the
string
'localhost:8080' and replaced it with plain 'localhost'.
However, when I 'Debug the Movie' (Ctrl-Shift-Enter), it
still tries to
access port 8080! Obsiously, my replace command did not do
what I thought it
would do. I opened the FLA file in a binary editor, and saw 4
more
references to 8080, One if them in 'Properties' of a
WebServicesConnector,
but I cannot figure out how to find the other occurences.
Checking on google, I see lots of people having similar
problems, but no
solutions
Any ideas?
Regards, /george
PS. What do you guys do for code completion - is there a tool
that would
bring Flash on par with an professional IDE?george,
> when I 'Debug the Movie' (Ctrl-Shift-Enter), it still

Agreed.

Might they be the result of that WebServicesConnector
reference?
> Checking on google, I see lots of people having
> similar problems, but no solutions
That's really odd, actually. I'm on these boards every day,
and I've
never heard of this issue. I don't *think* the Find/Replace
dialog visits
panel contents, such as the Component Inspector panel, but I
wouldn't swear
to that.
> What do you guys do for code completion - is there

professional IDE?
Well, Flash is a professional IDE, of course. By definition,
if you pay
for something, you have acquired a professional product or
service. I know
what you mean, though. Flash itself rocks, but the Actions
panel can be
glaringly weak. Personally, I use SE|PY to edit ActionScript.

Sorry I can't speak to your other issue. :-/

"Luck is the residue of good design." -
Hello! I bought a second-hand 2008 Intel iMac last May from Ebay, which I was told was wiped but was/is not entirely. First off I will say I'm not a programmer; secondly I will say I first had Snow Leopard on this system and have recently upgraded to Mavericks, and the problem remains.
I started receiving the occassional popup window on my desktop: "ALERT: Please contact the Service Desk at (212) 522-7777. Your AntiVirus software needs repair. LiveUpdate could not be found in the expected location." Typically appears after every time I restart my computer. I don't have LiveUpdate installed, so I did some Web searching and found that Symantec installs can sometimes leave crumbs around your computer, so I did some Terminal window stuff to try to clean this up (can't remember exactly what I did, but it was instructions from the Symantec website for uninstalling LiveUpdate). Didn't stop the the windows from popping up. I left it for a while, then was aggravated again when I found some parental settings in iTunes set by what seemed like a ghost administrator that was not there -- searched on that, and resolved the parental settings issue by clearing all relevant settings and fields under System Preferences > Network > Advanced, through which the computer was once remotely administered by TimeInc.
I thought that would also take care of the popups as well but it didn't. I did the Symantec uninstall (that I mentioned above) again, no luck. I had been trying to search the Web for the entire popup message text to no avail, but then I tried just searching for the first sentence, and I found a website where someone had written code that looks to be for sysadmins to make these messages appear on computers they administer. I am almost positive my computer is not being remotely administered, but I assume I need to do something in my Terminal window to make this message stop appearing. Here's the code I found on the Web:
if [ -f "/Applications/Symantec Solutions/LiveUpdate.app/Contents/MacOS/Liveupdate" ]
then
$logger "LiveUpdating Silently"
"/Applications/Symantec Solutions/LiveUpdate.app/Contents/MacOS/LiveUpdate" -liveupdateautoquit YES -update LUal -liveupdatequiet YES
$logger "LiveUpdating Completed"
else
$logger "LiveUpdate is missing!"
osascript -e 'tell app "Finder" to activate' -e 'tell app "Finder" to display dialog "ALERT: Please contact the Service Desk at (212) 522-7777. Your AntiVirus software needs repair. LiveUpdate could not be found in the expected location."'
fi
$logger "Terminating Normally"
exit 0
Any advice on how to kill this Finder pop-up window will have my eternal gratefulness. Thanks!
- JustinMy preference is to not reinstall from scratch.
Well, I can't in good conscience help with that. Essentially, what you're asking is the same as a guy telling his doctor, "Sorry, doc, I'm going to keep right on eating a dozen doughnuts a day, I just want you to give me a pill I can take to keep my arteries clear."
Not only might there be malware on the machine, either accidentally (no, Symantec products won't do a decent job of protecting against that) or purposefully installed by the seller, but the machine obviously contains all manner of software that you do not have a license for. That software should not have been left on the machine, and it is not legal for you to be using it.
Save yourself a lot of trouble and just wipe it clean. You'll get a fresh system, with no residual issues and no legal problems to deal with. -

I cant find create a Windows 7 or ... in my bootcamp
i want install windows 8.1 on my macbook pro mid 2010 but i cant find create a Windows 7 or ... in my bootcamp
I have yosemite on my macbookYour Boot Camp Assistant is prompting you to remove Windows 7 or later version. If on your mac there is already a Boot Camp partition then you need to remove it first and then start the process again.
If you have Windows 7 on it, you might try to upgrade to windows 8: Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions about installing Windows 8 - Apple Support
There is also one more thing... Your Mac model has a built-in SuperDrive. I might be wrong but the option to create a bootable usb drive from Windows ISO file might be only available for 2012 models of Macs without a SuperDrive. In that case, you might have to Burn your Windows ISO and install it from DVD. -

Oracle Access Manager Configuration : Cannot find the Person Object Class
Hi,
I am trying to install OAM , I am getting the following error when i am configuring the Identity server for the first time.
1) I have installed OID. I am using one OID for both config and user data.
2) I have installed Identity server and have modified the OID schema automically during installation.
3) I have installed web pass.
I have gone to the url: http://trn-ps-oid.oracle.com:7777/identity/oblix
Here i gone to Identity System Console to configure Identity server.
Following are the config data i have given
Configuration DN : dc=mydomain,dc=com
Search Base : dc=mydomain,dc=com
Host : mypc.mydomain.com
Port Number : 389
Root DN : cn=orcladmin
Root Password : *******
Directory Server Security Mode : Open
Is the Configuration data stored in this directory also : Yes
Person Object Class : inetorgperson
Auto configure objectclass : yes
Group Object Class : groupOfUniqueNames
Auto configure objectclass : yes
After this I have clicked on the restart server button.
It comes back to the page asking to enter Person Object class details.
I Get the Error : Cannot find the Person Object Class.
I have checked the object class in OID it is there, I have verified the connection details are also correct.
Any Ideas what might be wrong.
Earlier during setup i had to modify the OID schema, how do i check if this has been done.

Finding something in windows is easier
I don't understand why Apple can't release a new version of Spotlight that index all the files, for example if you want to search a word inside a PHP file you don't have any results, in Windows you can do this very easy, and I can't figure a way to do it on Mac os X.
I have found a way to index PHP files in Mac os X but it takes a lot of steps, and a lot of people would avoid doing this.
Is there a way to find text inside documents like windows? Why you need to index the contents of all documents to find something, in windows you don't need to do that, this way I can find files.
Here is how you can index PHP files in mac os x:
Here's how to get Spotlight to index your PHP scripts. In the Finder, navigate to /Library/Spotlight and locate SourceCode.mdiporter (this is installed with the Developer Tools). Select the file, control-click on it, and choose "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up menu. Now go into the Contents folder in the newly opened window. Double-click on info.plist (this should launch Property List Editor).
Click the triangle to expand Root, then expand CFBundleDocumentTypes, expand 0, then finally expand LSItemContentTypes. Click on the last number in the list (for me it was 6), then click the New Sibling button in the toolbar to add a new key. For the string value, enter public.php-script.
Close the Property List Editor and save when prompted. Go to a Terminal prompt and type:
mdimport -r /Library/Spotlight/SourceCode.mdimporter
Spotlight will now set to work indexing all your PHP files.
( WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD SourceCode.mdiporter )
PLEASE APPLE FIX THIS PROBLEMS AND LET US SEARCH ALL THE DOCUMENTS LIKE WINDOWS, THIS WOULD BE VERY USEFUL.
ALSO MODIFY SPOTLIGHT TO INDEX ALL DOCUMENTS, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN A HTML DOCUMENT FROM A PHP FILE, OR PERL FILE, THE INSIDE OF THE TEXT IS THE SAME.Ramiro -
Please be sure to tell Apple directly of your concerns:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/
That's the best way to let them know. And the more they hear from folks who are unhappy with Spotlight, the more likely it is they will do something about it. (Crosses fingers and hopes --) -
Dynamic generation of .cex for window classes
subject :dynamic generation of .cex for window classes:
Hi,
I want to generate windows classes (cex export file) with tool
code. I don't have any problem with non windows attributes.
But I can't generate windows attributes: the export file contains a
serialized object but I don't know which object.
thank you for your help.

Searchable thread archive <URL:http://pinehurst.sageit.com/listarchive/>value="Button_#{myBean.id}"This is perfectly valid syntax.
But you're talking about "dynamic generation of IDs". Don't you instead mean something like:
id="Button_#{myBean.id}"?
If so, then yes, using EL in the ID attribute is prohibited. Also see the TLDDOC [1]. Why do you want to do it anyway? The f:attribute might be more useful for you [2].

Finder opens up windows on restart -- I know why, but I want it to stop
So Finder remembers what windows you have open when you close down the computer. I don't want that. I also don't want to have to close all of the Finder windows when I want to shut down, either. I just want a blank screen when I start the computer up without having to add any steps to my own personal shut down process. Anyone have any idea how to do this? Thanks.
Open the AppleScript Editor. Type in the following:
tell application "Finder"
close windows
end tell
Save as an application, making sure that 'Run only', 'Startup screen' and 'Stay open' are not checked. Place this anywhere convenient.
Now go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items. Click the '+' button and navigate to your script; add it to the list. Now it will run on startup and close any open windows.
