Finding out if css file is located on a web server

Hi,
how can i know if a css file or any other file is located on a web server from a servlet , JSP?
should i use getServletContext().getRealPath(...)?
I need a quick way.
can someone please give an example?
Thanks,

THe most reliable way is doing a HTTP request to its URL see if it does not throw and exception. But this is little slow.
If your file is static content you can use getRealPath and then check whether the file exists on the path that the getRealPath method return.

    "It extracts all the selectors from all the stylesheets on the page you're viewing, then analyzes that page to see which of those selectors are not used. The data is then stored so that when testing subsequent pages, selectors can be crossed off the list as they're encountered.
    You can test pages individually, or spider an entire site, and you'll end up with a profile of which selectors are not used anywhere."

    I have files that may have been created in various versions of Illustrator. We need to be able to open them, but all we have is CS6 suite. I have called and been told that "technicians at adobe" could perform a paid service to find out what the files were created in and get them to be useable in InDesign 6, but I'd need an email address that was registered to our software to give the help desk person. After finding the correct email address, different adobe help number people told me to come here to ask as there is no phone support. Can anyone get me to an adobe technician that can provide a price quote for finding out what created these files and for getting them converted? Thanks.

    Sorry, I understood you to say you had the whole CS6 suite, which includes Illustrator.
    As far as finding out what the files are, sometimes you can look at them in a text editor to figure this out. See below; the, Creator Tool line. Not every software package makes it this easy, though.

  • Is there a way to find out ALL the files an FCP project uses?

    Okay. Firstly, I'm an idiot. I don't know why, but at the START of the project, I didn't think I'd end up with so many little tiny bits and pieces... so I didn't really plan the organization of this thing. (My next project will be meticulously organized, I can assure you.)
    But, here I am, and here's my problem.
    I've got a pretty big project I've been working on for six months that's probably taking up 250 GB of space on my computer (spread over two 350 GB hard drives). It includes 125 GB of source footage, hundreds of little Motion projects (including various "drafts" of each one), PSD images, LiveType files, an assortment of Soundtrack Pro files, AIFFs, exported clips from all the various cuts of the project, etc etc etc. Stupidly, I always saved things in different folders, using a system and thought process that "seemed like a good idea at the time".
    Problem is, now that I'm (nearly) finished with the thing, I need to archive the "final cut", and all it's many source files (such as Motion projects, which may need to be edited later if this project gets sold into foreign markets, etc).
    Suddenly, I realize how important Organizational Skills really are.
    But is there a way (simple or not-so-simple) to find out EVERY SINGLE FILE that's referenced on a timeline? (I have lots of stuff imported into the project that I know isn't used on any timeline, but I'm afraid of moving or deleting things for fear of never finding it again.)
    I'd love to get some sort of "printout" (a list or something) of every single file.
    The idea is, I would then move ONLY those files to a newly-organized filing system, which could be easily archived/backed-up. It would also be great to keep the RENDER files, too, so that I won't have to re-render everything when I pull it out of cold storage.
    Am I dreaming an impossible dream?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    There is, go to browser and cntrl click on any one of the columns,
    and select - show/source. A new column named "source" will pop up and will show where everything "lives". Click on the header at the top and it will justify the column as well. You'll notice this won't show anything for your seq.'s. of course, but will show stills/audio/motion files...
    Once you have the new column, you can drag it next to the "name" column and get a grab of it and print it if you like, or whatever.
    If you want to do this for just 1 seq., then can create a new bin and double click it to open it. Cntrl-A (select all) in your main seq. and just drag all into the new bin. You will see only what's in that seq. with the "source" column right next to it.
    From what I've read, you seem to get the MM thing and it's obviously what you'll need to do to archive as the guys said. But what your missing is a file path system to where everything resides.
    Hope this helps and that I've read you properly,
    Peace

    You can use cos.jar provided by O'Reilly from http://www.servlets.com/cos/. Take a look at com.oreilly.servlet.multipart.* classes.
    Package is provided with source, classes, documentation and, of course, ready-to-use jar file.
    It is really usefull and - ready!

  • Where to find out the log file under java developer role

    Hi,
    I have some application created in NWDS. While running it after the PAR deployment and all. some exception is thrown. the exception iD is given.  I was trying to find out wher the log files are located in the portal so that I can analyze the exception.
    I think it is under the java developer role....but under that......I checked the log viewer tool and all.....but exactly where the log files would be located. so that with the exception ID , I can search and find out the log for the particular exception.
    any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Steelman,
    Use the search option in log viewer for this purpose. In the server it would be located in
    <i>usr/sap/sid/jc00/cluster/server0/logs</i>
    Hope this helps.

  • How to find out if the file is locked

    Hello All:
    I've struggled with this for quite a while now. I want to move a file from one directory to another. I can choose to copy/delete or renameTo. Both works when I tested from a console test app.
    However, this is part of a big Swing app of mine. When I tried the code in that app, it always returned false, indicating it failed. I can't get more info other than that. It might be locked by another app, but how I can find out?
    Using JDK 1.7's new APIs might be helpful, but I can't use JDK 7.
    Thanks for your thoughts,
    John

    thanks gimbal. I tried process explorer before (I did google before I turned to help in here :-)...), it didn't help much then - maybe I should take a 2 ^nd^ look. Anyway.
    I think this still has some relevance to programming, particularly to Swing programming. Please indulge me and let me elaborate:
    - I create a JTable in which a list of files under a certain directory is shown;
    - I selected one of the files and right click to bring up a popup menu;
    - I chose the menu item "Move to folder" to move the select file, the code looks like
    boolean b = new File("C:\\temp\\elephnt.ttf").renameTo(new File("C:\\Users\\John\\Documents\\elephnt.ttf"));
    System.out.println(b);Thats where the action fails. My best guess is that the Swing component is holding the file's handle therefore it's qualified as opened by "another process".
    I just don't know how to tackle the issue.
    Thanks,
    John

  • How can i find out my lost ipad's location by myself online

    how can  i want to find out the location of my lost ipad by online

    You do not need "Find my iPad" installed on the iPad.  That app merely allows you to locate an iPad from another iOS device.
    In order to locate the iPad, you would need to have set it up with a MobileMe account and enabled the Find my iPad feature in the account settings on the iPad.  Then you can log on to your MobileMe account, or use the Find my iPad app, from another device and locate it.
    If you never did that setup, or don't have a MobileMe account, and didn't install any other third-party tracking software on the iPad beforehand, then you won't be able to locate it.
