Finding the windows directory

With the LabVIEW application builder, I can choose to put a file, such as an
..ini file, into the windows directory.
Now, I need to read the file in my program, but I can't find a variable
available that returns the windows directory, so I'm just using a path
constant C:\Windows. But I know I can't continue using this, because the
windows directory for Windows NT, or 2000, will be C:\WinNT.
Can anybody tell me how to access the windows directory?
Thanks

  • Error when trying to install the iSCSI target - Cannot find the Windows PowerShell data file 'ImportExportIscsiTargetConfiguration.psd1'

    Hi,
    I'm just attempting to setup an iSCSI target on a freshly installed Windows 2012r2 box, but I get the following error when attempting to Create and iSCSI virtual disk via the wizard after a successful
    installation of the iSCSI target role.
    The full error is:
    Cannot find the Windows PowerShell data file 'ImportExportIscsiTargetConfiguration.psd1' in directory 'C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Modules\IscsiTarget\en-GB\', or in any parent culture.
    I tried to uninstall, then reinstall the role but no go.
    The Server Locale and UI was all updated to en-GB but this folder does not appear to exist in this location. Rather, the folder I can see is:
    'C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Modules\IscsiTarget\en-US\'
    I'm going to attempt to copy the 'en-US' folder to 'en-GB' to see what happens, but I would like to know why this has occurred in the first place? Other roles have installed (such as AD DS AD CS and
    IIS) on other machines with no issue.
    Many thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    The error "Cannot find the Windows PowerShell data file 'ImportExportIscsiTargetConfiguration.psd1'" occured, because the file 'ImportExportIscsiTargetConfiguration.psd1' can't be loaded under the folder en-GB with current culture.
    I recommend you can copy this .psd1 file under  'C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Modules\IscsiTarget'. Essentially if PowerShell can’t find the specified data file for the current culture it will “fallback” to the top-level data
    file in this case.

    PS CS6 has a different set of installed fonts than my old PS CS4.  How do I get my old fonts back?  Don't like most of the newer CS6 fonts.  Dell Precision, Windows 7.  Does PS use the fonts in the Windows directory or does it use its own?  If so, where are they in the directory?  A lot of my preferred fonts show in the Windows directory but not in Photoshop, which does not display them within the program.  Please help.  If I get free fonts (NOT CC fonts) from elsewhere, where do I put them for Photoshop[ CS6 to use them?  Thanks.

    All versions of Photoshop get their fonts from your OS.  Just install any missing font wherever Windows keeps fonts.

  • Can't find the Windows to go option in Control Panel.

    I recently updated to windows 8.1 from 8. I am a huge user of Windows to go. They say Windows 8.1 to go is available on Windows 8.1 Enterprise. I have Enterprise, but I just cant find the option anywhere (Including Control Panel, where it was previously
    found in Windows 8) Can anyone tell me where to find the Windows 8.1 To Go feature?

    You can start the Windows To Go creator tool by starting pwcreator.exe located in C:\Windows\System32.

  • Finding the plugin directory for Photoshop

    If I remember correctly the path/directory locations have changed in recent years (but i'm not sure having skipped from photoshop 7 up to cs3) .
    What should I consider when writing my plugin installer for finding these paths? I skimmed the SDK documentation, but perhaps I overlooked it?
    I know there's a registry entry, but finding the path requires knowing the version so you can get to it: SOFTWARE > Adobe > Photoshop > 10.0 > PluginPath
    And while we're at it, how is this best accomplished on OS X?

    No, the plugin location hasn't changed relative to the application.
    If you want to be sure and get the localized location, you can always use the PSPaths preference file or the registry entries for each version of Photoshop.
    Keeping the location for multiple versions is intentional - so you can choose to install for all versions, or specific versions.
    Search for known version numbers that you support (CS4, CS3, CS2, CS, 7, etc.) to get their location.

  • How to find the working directory

    Hi all
    my csseditor is almost fully working but im having one slight problem
    my css images arent being displayed all the time (this is a bit confusing but...)
    when i reference the image via an address (http://localhost/tgheader.jpg) it works
    e.g. background-image:url('http://localhost/tgheader.jpg');
    if i reference the image via an exact path (C:/myimages/tgheader.jpg) it doesnt work
    e.g. background-image:url('C:/myimages/tgheader.jpg');
    and obviously it doesnt work if i just reference the image relatively
    e.g. backgroundimage:url('tgheader.jpg')
    so far your probably thinking what has this got to do with java, well i am wondering if it is not finding the image because maybe when i run the app it cant find working directories maybe or does the ap run from a temp directory maybe (or is it from the directory where the classes are run from) and if so if i put the images in that path then shouldnt the css know where the image is or when i render the html from a string does java omit the fact of exact paths?
    if anyone feels like this is too abstract from java to be posted here, then im sorry, im just not sure if it is a java problem or a css problem (because css works just fine using exact paths when it is run in a normal html ie environment)

    basically it is just a swing ap that runs offline
    open a css stylesheet (*.css) which is parsed into my
    stylesheet adt
    then my html header file (header.htm) is read into a
    string via getResourceAsStream
    (the header is everything that u get in a html file
    <html><head><title></title> up to <style)
    then i do a toString on my stylesheet adt to paste
    into the html string all of the styles in the
    stylesheet
    then i read in the footer info of the html with
    getResourceAsStream (footer.htm) and this contains
    the rest of the html document
    so my final html string is a complete html document
    including the styles
    i then load that string into my browser component
    which displays the html with the applied styles
    the program is just run locally and doesnt (and
    shouldnt) require any web serverok then sorry about my advice that make no sense :p
    In the light of this, I'm going to reread the whole thread ;-)

  • How can I find the Scripts directory from a script?

    Hello all! After playing with Photoshop scripting, I'm now playing with AE too, and in my first try I've stuck in finding the scripts path from the script itself.
    In Photoshop, there was this piece of code that somebody in the Photoshop Scripting forum kindly shared:
    var scriptsPath = new Folder (app.path + "/" + localize ("$$$/ScriptingSupport/InstalledScripts=Presets/Scripts"));
    But this line doesn't work in After Effects because app.path variable doesn't exist (very funny, I thought Photoshop and After Effects shared the same basic app variables) and the path given to the "localize" function is wrong in AE (I think "$$$" means nothing to it).
    Can somebody give me a clue about how to solve this? Thanks a lot in advance :-)

    This script shows a couple of examples you can try. The first part shows a way to get the folder the running script is in. The second gets the main AE app folder although I don't know if appFolder works on Windows (you'd still need to add /Scripts on Mac or /SupportFiles/Scripts on Win).
    var thisScript = new File($.fileName);
    var containingFolder = new Folder(thisScript.parent.absoluteURI);
    alert("This script is in " + containingFolder.absoluteURI);
    var appFolder = new Folder(Folder.appPackage.parent.absoluteURI);
    alert("The app folder is at " + Folder.decode(appFolder.absoluteURI));

  • Can't find the J2EE directory on Oracle 9iAS version 1.0.2.2.x

    Hi,
    I'm trying to set the JDBC Data Source. According to the documentation I need to go to the J2EE directory. I can't find this directory on Oracle 9iAS version 1.0.2.2.x. We can't upgrade so I don't know how to proceed.
    Your feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Merced

    Hi!
    I'm not 100% sure but I believe that in the 1.0.2.x release there was no J2EE structure in the application server. Things were done then with JServ.
    I understand that you cannot upgrade but be aware that 1.0.2.x is ancient (like stone-age) and Oracle desupported this long ago.

  • Find the Window that a component is being displayed inside of?

    Hello all. I need to find out if a component is being displayed inside of a Window (or JWindow/Frame/JFrame). I need to get the reference for the window component that the component is in.
    I've tried using various combinations of methods in SwingUtilities, as well as Component.getParent(), etc., and can't seem to be able to get what I am looking for.
    For example, I have a JPanel nested inside of another JPanel that is nested inside of a JFrame, and I want to get a reference of the JFrame. If I use a getParent() call recursively I only get to the parent JPanel, and not to the JFrame.
    I'm trying to write a generic method in my extended JPanel class that determines if its sitting inside of a Window/JWindow/Frame/JFrame, and if so, if the window has a JMenuBar. Specifically I'm trying to get a list of all JMenu objects that a window may have that my JPanel subclass is sitting inside (don't want to assign a mnemonic value if its already being used by a JMenu object).
    Any advice/information would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

    Yeah, but when the human being runs the app, they see
    my panel inside of the window of the application they
    are running! :pThe only explanation I can think of is if you're running as an applet it will appear in firefox or IE or whatever but have no window ancestor.
    Try doing
    Container con = getParent();
    while (!(con instanceof Window) con = con.getParent();It sounds like you've got some silly bug somewhere...

  • Alternate way of finding the Windows Reference Number

    Hello,
    I am using some of the Windows Utilities VIs and I have run into a snag. In my application I lauch multiple template VIs and hence have many Windows that have the same name. This causes a bit of confusion when using a VI like "Flash Title Bar" which takes in a window's name to determine it's reference number. MY question is, is there an alternative method of finding out a window's reference number without having to supply the window's name? Something that determines each window's unique number. I checked various Application and VI Properties without much luck. Perhaps is there some way of converting VI reference to Windows Reference. I dunno. Any ideas???
    Thanks fellow LabVIEWers,
    Glen D.
