Finding vi running in subpanel from a subpanel control reference?

I've poked around considerably and cannot find a way to take a control reference to a subpanel control and get the vi reference for the current vi running inside the subpanel.
I know I can save this locally inside the vi containing the subpanel (from the invoke node call to insertvi), but I'm wanting to do this externally from an app that just has references to all the controls.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If I'm interpreting you correctly, you would like to find the VI reference of the subpanel VI based off one if it's control references that has been passed to some external application from the VI that contains the subpanel VI?  See the attached VIs for an example if this is the case.
"VI with subpanel" passes a control reference to "SubVI" which can then get the reference to the "VI in subpanel".
I grabbed the original files from here:

  • Subpanel control button programmatically

    Hello,
    I'm fairly new in Labview and do not master all aspects.
    I have developped a "driver" VI, which allows me to control an instrument (communication via TCP-IP). This works fine.
    I now want to use this "driver" VI inside a test VI, which will control the instrument in an automated way.
    I'm loading the "driver" VI in a subpannel of my main VI, and I can effectivelly see it loaded, and can use it also, as if it was standing alone ...
    So far, so good.
    Now, I need to programmatically control the instrument, to execute test sequences e.g.   . I need to have the main VI sending commands to the VI in the sub-panel, changing set values, "clicking" on buttons ... all this automatically.
    What is the best way to control the elements in the subpanel, in a similar way as with property nodes if the elements would be in the main VI ?
    Thanks in advance for any useful tip.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
    Here is a little example. As you will see, it consists in :
    1) from "VI reference" ->  you get "front panel reference"
    2) from "front panel reference" -> you get "all control references"
    3) from "all control references" -> you get "a given control reference" (found by its label text)
    4) from "a given control reference" -> you can use its "value property" as usual (read or write mode)
    Hope it helps...
    J.

  • How do I find the report server name, and then run paper report from forms?

    How do I find the report server name, and then run paper report from forms?
    I am having a problem running report 9i from forms 9i (see below thread). How do I find out the name of the report server? I checked my C:\ids\reports\conf directory but don't see anything that gives me the name of the reports server. I also don't have a iashome directory.
    Also, I just want to run the paper report (not the web version).
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    please read teh Forms / Reports integration paper in teh Collateral section for Oracle9i Forms at otn.oracle.com/products/forms
    In summary, you have to create an external Reports Service that you can then give a name.

  • Run multiple VI from one VI...

    Hi,
    How can I do to run multipe VIs from one VI ?
    I can start one of them but I have to stop it before run an other one.
    Thanks.

    You are not very clear on your needs. In my particuliar case I have 12 separate VI running within a subpanel. Attached contains the VI. They are independent yet dependent on each other.

  • When I attempt to open firefox an error message appears telling me that firefox is already running, but I can't find it running. How do I do so or in any case close the already running Firefox process?

    When I attempt to open Firefox instead of Firefox opening, an error message appears saying "Firefox is already running but isn't responding. To open another window please close the existing Firefox process or restart the system.", but I can't find that process of Firefox in order to kill it, and after restarting the system there is still the problem. I have found an emergency fix to at least get online, and that is to use"Firefox_Profile_Manager" in the start menu's "run" start menu, but the
    Firefox that then opens is that one doesn't carry over what I had in my bookmarks but starts bookmarks anew.

    Sounds like it is hanging when you exit and later try to restart Firefox.
    * How to stop the running Firefox process
    ** In Task Manager, does firefox.exe show in the '''<u>Processes</u>''' tab?

    ***Firefox 4 users, hold the Shift key while clicking the Firefox 4 desktop icon to enter Safe Mode.
    ***Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox.

    ****When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode".
    ****Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
    *** If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it
    ***#by enabling '''<u>one at a time</u>''' until the problem reappears.
    ***#You can also enable a few at a time (3-5), keeping track of what you just re-enabled to see if the problem re-occurs; this will help narrow down the possibilities if you have a large number of add-ons.

  • Running two displays from one DVI port...time to put my ADC down

    Hi Guys,
    I have a G5 dual with a GeForce FX 5200 which has 1 each of DVI+ADC ports. Until recently the 17" Apple display has been my only monitor. As I have a recording/mix studio I need to move the G5 base unit far away from any recording as it makes quite a lot of noise. I have been unable to do this as I have been having trouble finding either a Dr Bott or Griffin ADC extension. I have been searching off and on for over a year with no success.
    Recently I purchased a cheap reconditioned NEC monitor which I am running from the DVI port and am thinking perhaps now is the time to get rid of my apple display due to the ADC connection troubles.
    Is it possible to run two monitors from the one DVI port? I need to run a mirrored image so that I have one monitor to my side so that I can do close editing work and then one further away behind my analogue mixing desk, they need to show exactly the same thing.
    Will splitting the DVI port degrade signal or is there a way around this. I also want to get some long cables 6m+ so that I can place the base unit outside of the control room, will this be a problem?
    I would really appreciate some help on this matter.
    Thanks,
    Iwan

    Thanks BSteely, Would you happen to know of a box to recommend? I guess something like this would be more suitable:

    Shellie Bricker

    Your code seems to be implementing metalink note 139546.1 - Using Reports parameter forms with RUN_REPORT_OBJECT on the web.
    For what I can see, the P_ACTION parameter should end in ?...
    i.e.
    P_ACTION=http://<hostname.domain:port>/reports/rwservlet?'
    set_report_object_property (
    repid,
    report_other,
    'paramform=yes P_USER_CONNECT='
    || vc_connect
    || ' P_SERVERNAME='
    || v_reportserv
    || ' P_ACTION='
    || v_report_url
    || '/reports/rwservlet?'
    );If this does not fix your problem, then to troubleshoot further you would have to post the code in your Before Parameter Form trigger of your report.
    Hope this helps,
    UPDATE:
    If the above does not fix your problem, my guess is that report name is not being generated in the hidden runtime values build by the code in the Before Parameter Form trigger.
    i.e.
    http://localhost:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
    The above code will throw error REP-52005: The specified key report does not exist in key map file.

    Can any one help!!
    Thanks,
    Sid..

    Sid,
    1) Check your using the correct version of Jdev with your instance.
    Metalink note 416708.1 - How to find the correct version of JDeveloper to use with eBusiness Suite 11i or Release 12
    Will give the mappings.
    And check the Jdev setting
    330236.1 - Configuring JDeveloper For Use With Oracle Applications 11i and R12
    2) Instead of using the tutorial, create a sample page, Am and run the page.
    Check what error you are getting.
    Thanks.
    With Regards,
    Kali.

  • HspRuntimeException while running the report from Workspace

    Hi
    When a user is trying to run a report from Workspace, it prompts teh following error:
    Failed to sync with user provisioning. Check Planning log for detailscom.hyperion.planning.HspRuntimeException
    The report contains 2 grids, 1 pointing to an ASO application, while second pointing to BSO planning application.
    I checked in shared services, the user has the admin access to planning application which is used in the report.
    I tried the following:
    Checked access to planning application for the user
    Restarted the planning application services
    Where in logs will i be able to find details?
    Can anyone suggest some solution?

    Try option 1 then option2:
    Please undertake changes in a test environment. Retest issue and if resolved migrate to other appropriate environments.
    Option 1:
    Verify NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT are at least 1000 & 1500 respectively.
    To set NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT:
    1. Open Essbase.cfg located in Essbase\Bin directory.
    2. Add the following entries
    NETDELAY 1000
    NETRETRYCOUNT 1500
    Restart Essbase agent (windows service)
    Option 2:
    Please backup the registry before making any manual modification.
    1.) Open the Registry
    2.) Navigate to Local Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters
    3.) Add new DWORD Value named TcpTimedWaitDelay, right click and select Modify. Select decimal radio button, type in 30. (The default value of this parameter is 2 minutes. This is how long it will take for a TCP/IP port that was used by the network for a connection to be released and made available again. 30 sec is the minimum allowed by Microsoft)
    4.) Add new DWORD Value named MaxUserPort, right click and select Modify. Select decimal radio button, type in 65534. ( The default value is 5000.
    This determines the highest port number TCP can assign when an application requests an available user port from the system.
    5.) Add new DWORD Value named MaxFreeTcbs, right click and select Modify.
    Select decimal radio button, type in 6250. (The default value is 2000. This determines the number of TCP control blocks (TCBs) the system creates to support active connections. Because each connection requires a control block, this value determines how many active connections TCP can support simultaneously. If all control blocks are used and more connection requests arrive, TCP can prematurely release connections in the TIME_WAIT state in order to free a control block for a new connection.)
    The above parameters need to be added to the registry on the Planning and Essbase servers. Reboot the servers after the parameters are added.
