Firefox 27.0.1 takes 140 seconds to complete MS Chalkboard test

Using the MS Chalkboard test http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/Chalkboard/
on an iMac 2012, 32gb RAM, Core i7, 3.4Ghz it takes approx 140 seconds to complete the test. In Safari about 6.46 seconds, and in IE11 on Parallels VM it takes 6 seconds.
Something seems very wrong with the responsiveness of Firefox.... Tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.

It didn't run smoothly for me, and I'm not sure the stopping positions were accurate. It kept pausing to wait for something to complete, little resizing movements here and there.
In my regular profile with hardware acceleration of graphics disabled and lots of tabs open, it took about 68 seconds. In a new profile with no customization, it took about 34 seconds.
I don't have a modern IE on this computer to compare, but I tested in Google Chrome 33. It was much snappier and finished in about 12.5 seconds.
No idea what's going on with this benchmark that makes Firefox slower.

  • PSE 8 Organizer take 60+ seconds per task

    Most everything I do in the PSE 8 Organizer seems to take 60+ seconds to complete.
    When I move a tag from one sub-category to another, 60+ seconds.
    When I delete a picture from the catalog, 60+ seconds.
    When I add a new face tag in a photo, 60+ seconds.
    It doesn't seem to matter if I have 940 photos or 140 photos in the catalog.
    What is PSE looking for with each task it does?
    The only error indication I get is a 'dunk' sound when the Organizer starts up,
    (like the sound you get when you click on something you shouldn't click on),
    but no error dialog or warning shows up.
    Any ideas?

    John, I have a total of seven people tags and thanks for the advice.  It's not a keyword tag issue.
    But, hallelujah, I have found the problem!  It's the 'Folder Location View'.  Stay out of it!  It turns a face tagging from a half second task to a 65 second task.  It appears that, when in the Folder Location View, after you complete a task like face tagging PSE will then go off and re-read (for 65 seconds) all your Windows folders and regenerate the folder view.  When you switch to the Thumbnail View and do the face tag then PSE comes right back immediately.  I was able to recreate this scenario several times.  Each task I did in Folder Location View took 65 seconds or more.  The same task in Thumbnail View takes half a second tops.

  • FIrefox tabs take 10 seconds to display menu selections Fedora Core 15, firefox-7.0.1-1.fc15.i686

    Since moving to Firefox 7.0.1, It takes 10 seconds for firefox
    to respond when the cursor is placed and/or clicked on a tab.
    I have disabled all addons - no good.
    I have removed my .mozilla directory and allowed it to be regenerated -
    no good.
    I have uninstalled firefoxe and reinstalled firefox - no good.

    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
    If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • 15 Seconds in BW - 140 Seconds Additional in BO... Lots of Key Figures...

    Hello, I'm trying to understand the BO performance on complex BEx queries... I have a BEx query that runs in about 20 seconds on the WEB with 25 restricted/calculated key figures...
    WebI report based on a universe created on the BEx query above takes about 160 seconds... When I followed up steps to capture the MDX statement and used MDXTEST to see the time in BW, I can see that it comes back in 15 seconds... So, performance issue is not in the BW or in the generated MDX statement...
    Any idea about where BO spends the remaining 140 seconds???  I can think of data transfer from BW into BO, preparing the output in WebI display but 140 seconds seems too much for all this...
    When I drop the number of key figures to 15, total runtime goes down to about 70 seconds - a gain of 90 seconds...  So, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the number of key figures...  But, if the heavy load is on the BW side to do the work and it takes 15 seconds, it sounds there is something wrong in BO and I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas to improve performance...
    We do have BIA installed...  That's probably why MDX takes 15 seconds since the cubes behind the multi provider have millions of records...
    Thanks in advance!
    Cuneyt

    To an extent you are right that number of key figures wil have an impact. The rest of the time being taken is for converting the result set from MDX format to WebI native format.
    I have seen cases where during this conversion WebI Processing Servers used to run out of memory but this has been fixed/updated with new releases and fix packs.

  • Multiple crashes fixed by turning off hardware and Flash acceleration; very slow now. Takes five seconds to exit and still listed as a running process

    A workaround was suggested by a member of the community to turn off both hardware and Flash acceleration. It worked fine (no crashes since), but runs very slowly. In particular, takes five seconds to exit and is often still listed as a running process. Very slow in connecting to Web pages, and very slow loading them because of the graphics. Very slow in loading video. I expected slower responses, but this is REALLY slow. I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 and an Nvidia GE Force 7800 graphics card with all the drivers updated and the plugins for Firefox mostly set on "ask to activate". Should I expect this much reduction in performance when the workaround I mentioned was put into place? If so, it's half a loaf at best. The only thing questionable is that I have two Youtube downloaders that I am trying, but I made the assumption that these were only applied when you downloaded something from Youtube.

    In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes": do not clear the Cookies
    If you clear cookies then Firefox will also try to remove cookies created by plugins and that requires to start plugin-container processes that can slow down closing Firefox.
    Instead let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies.

    Hi,
    I dropped and recreated the stats without any modification(Eg adding new Indexes).The Query is hitting the indexes and it comes out in 00:00:16.86.But in the Production box the Same Query is doing Full tablescan.
    The only difference in producation and Test Env is I collected the Fresh stats but in prod Kindly read below and give me suggestion
    The Process Happens
    In the Beginning of the Day Following tables contains Like 100 records and as the day process it will reach 1,2,3,4 millions records by the EOD.During the EOD day we generate stats and delete those records and Tables will have 100 or 200 records but the stats will be for 4 Million records.Kindly Suggest me the best option

  • Help: Selecting * from view takes minutes, query in view takes only seconds

    Hello,
    I have a view that i created that compiles ok and the query inside of the view only takes 2 seconds to return all the records. But if i try to select * from the view it takes 4-5 minutes to return the results. The explain plan is exactly the same, whether i select * from the view or run the query from within the view. Explain plan listed at bottom of post. Any ideas on where i might be going wrong? Thanks in advance.
    The below query returns ~400 rows. If i limit the rows returned to ~200 with this additional line at the very end:
    AND TEAM_CATEGORY LIKE '%FSM%'
    the query runs in just a few seconds. So the rows returned is not the problem here.
    Code:
    SELECT /*+ PUSH_PRED( TEAM ) */ NP.ID_NUMBER,

    I'm no expert. Hopefully, someone else will chime in.
    A couple points though:
    1) (select p.*
    from proposal p
    where p.active_ind = 'Y'
    AND p.stop_date > sysdate
    union
    select p.*
    from proposal p
    where p.active_ind = 'Y'
    AND p.stop_date is null) P,
    is using UNION. It should probably be a UNION ALL, or even better:
    (select p.*
    from proposal p
    where p.active_ind = 'Y'
    AND (p.stop_date IS NULL OR p.stop_date > sysdate)
    2) select p.*
    Do not use * in a VIEW. In fact, never use it outside EXISTS, COUNT(*) and ad hoc queries.
    Use a COLUMN-list instead. Always use a COLUMN-list.
    3)
    The CASE statement has no ELSE, and is redundant.
         CASE
         WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) = 1 THEN MAX(DECODE(CT, 1, TEAM_CAT))
         WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) = 2 THEN MAX(DECODE(CT, 1, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 2, TEAM_CAT))
         WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) = 3 THEN MAX(DECODE(CT, 1, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 2, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 3, TEAM_CAT))
         WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) = 4 THEN MAX(DECODE(CT, 1, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 2, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 3, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 4, TEAM_CAT))
         WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) = 5 THEN MAX(DECODE(CT, 1, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 2, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 3, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 4, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 5, TEAM_CAT))
         WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) = 6 THEN MAX(DECODE(CT, 1, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 2, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 3, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 4, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 5, TEAM_CAT)) || ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 6, TEAM_CAT))
         END TEAM_CATEGORY
    How about something like:
         CASE WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) >= 1 THEN MAX(DECODE(CT, 1, TEAM_CAT)) ELSE ' ' END
         || CASE WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) >= 2 THEN ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 2, TEAM_CAT)) ELSE ' ' END
         || CASE WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) >= 3 THEN ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 3, TEAM_CAT)) ELSE ' ' END
         || CASE WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) >= 4 THEN ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 4, TEAM_CAT)) ELSE ' ' END
         || CASE WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) >= 5 THEN ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 5, TEAM_CAT)) ELSE ' ' END
         || CASE WHEN count(TEAM_CAT) >= 6 THEN ', ' || MAX(DECODE(CT, 6, TEAM_CAT)) ELSE ' ' END

    5) Did you really alias a TABLE as "***"? Please tell me that is a formatting error.
    6) Are you sure you need all those outer joins?

  • Firefox stops responding after approximately 10 seconds

    Every time I open firefox it hangs after about 10 seconds and can only be closed with task manager. Task manager does not report that the application is not responding. No other applications seem to suffer from the same problem

    I am also having major problems with the Firefox upgrade. Mines freezes up (says not responding) before I even try to open anything. I cannot view any videos on YouTube nor can I watch movies on Netflix (you need the Firefox browser to stream movies). Everything was working just fine until I did the upgrade.

  • Takes ~30 seconds to open logon page. ~50 seconds to log into application.

    Hello all,
    Maybe you can help with some ideas.
    This started 2 x weeks ago, after Siebel gw, web, siebserver bounce.
    Server gets up fast, 1-2 min max, its as usual. srvrmgr sees all servers, gw answering, ohs comunicating. SWSE statistics are being generated fast. But, each time when I trie to open login page it takes ~30 seconds to display it and ~40-50 seconds to log in app. After that everything is fine and fast. If I log out, close browser, open it again its again slow. It seems, like its taking time in Session ID asignment.
    If i check ohs access_log, i see,that images are being loaded fast for login page (but cant see them) and everything stucks here, for ~30-40 seconds:

    Hi all, thx for help.
    Reason, why bounce was done, because of new SRF/BScripts.
    We found out issue, it was because Anonymous user was hanging. Very long authentification/authorization, session ID was not asigned properly. Problem was on DB lvl, bad explain plan.
    This thread can be closed.
    Thank You!

  • Invoke-command takes 20-90 seconds to complete

    all servers I'm testing with is server 2008r2 with powershell 4.  I have a text file with 100 servers that are online and with PS remoting enabled.
    When I run this command:
    # this takes about 20-30 seconds to complete
    Invoke-Command
    -ScriptBlock
    {get-date}
    -ComputerName
    (gc
    100servers.txt)
    # this takes at least 90 seconds to complete when I set throttle to 100
    Invoke-Command
    -ScriptBlock
    {get-date}
    -ComputerName
    (gc
    100servers.txt)
    -ThrottleLimit
    100
    I didn't get these delays when my local was running powershell 2 and executing against the same set of servers with PS4 on them.  PS2 only took 2-3 seconds to finish the command if all were online.  If I run the command in PS4 ISE, it seems to
    work fast as well but for some reason PS4 traditional shell (not ISE) gives me these delays when working with large set of servers and increasing throttle to 100+
    Sometimes you get different results if you keep running it with the same shell, but if you open a new shell with -noprofile switch then I get the same execution delays with PS4.
    # I even tried skipping the different checks with sessionOption below but same results
    Invoke-Command
    -ScriptBlock
    {get-date}
    -ComputerName
    (gc
    100servers.txt)
    -ThrottleLimit
    100
    -SessionOption
    (New-PSSessionOption
    -SkipCACheck
    -SkipRevocationCheck
    -SkipCNCheck)
    I also tried running the same command from win8.1 with PS4 and it will hang for about 90 seconds before it spits out all the results at once.
    This seems to be a problem with large number of servers of at least 50.  Works fine with small set.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I know there's other ways of running scripts in parallel, but I can't figure out why this is not working.
    I'm also using the default pssessionoption below.  I have full admin rights to all the servers.  Any suggestions?
    MaximumConnectionRedirectionCount : 5
    NoCompression                     : False
    NoMachineProfile                  : False
    ProxyAccessType                   : None
    ProxyAuthentication               : Negotiate
    ProxyCredential                   :
    SkipCACheck                       : False

    SkipRevocationCheck               : False
    OperationTimeout                  : 00:03:00
    NoEncryption                      : False
    UseUTF16                          : False
    IncludePortInSPN                  : False
    OutputBufferingMode               : None
    Culture                           :
    UICulture                         :
    MaximumReceivedDataSizePerCommand :
    MaximumReceivedObjectSize         :
    ApplicationArguments              :
    OpenTimeout                       : 00:03:00
    CancelTimeout                     : 00:01:00
    IdleTimeout                       : -00:00:00.0010000

    -asjob only puts it in the background, but it still takes the same amount of time to finish.  Any other suggestions?  I want to be able to increase the throttle to at least 100 servers.  With PS2, I was able to throttle to 200 servers and
    was very fast.  Not sure why PS4 is so much slower.  It seems to run better without increasing the throttle, but still slower when dealing with 100 servers compared to PS2 results.
    Invoke-Command
    -ScriptBlock
    {get-date}
    -ComputerName
    (gc
    100servers.txt)
    -ThrottleLimit
    100

  • Switching in workspace between any item to Emails takes 45 seconds for mail to display.

    Have a blackberry Q5 on OS10.3. via BES 12.  When switching between items in workspace it takes 45 seconds to switch and siplay mail in corporate email account.  Any switching between other items is instant.
    Device has been replaced twice.
    device has been reloaded and also used OS 10.2
    User account on BES server has been created on BES 12 server.
    This only happens when you switch to look at your emails.  Other than that, the device is working.

    Hi Andy,
    The switching time depends on the client buffer state and the keyframe interval of the content.  The switch is not complete until it is visible to the user, meaning the buffer has to play through.  So if the client has buffered 15 seconds of content, it will take around 15 seconds to make the switch.  This also depends on your FMS settings since keyframes can be generated on the fly.
    This is easy to monitor if you turn on logging for the OSMF Flex project.  You'll see something like this in your log:
    Calling for switch to 4 at 1708 kbps
    Switching to index 4 at 1708 kbps
    event.info.code=NetStream.Play.Transition
    info.code=NetStream.Play.TransitionComplete
    Transition complete to index: 4 at 1708 kbps
    The "NetStream.Play.Transition" means the server has acknowledged the request and has begun the switching process.  The "NetStream.Play.TransitionComplete" is an in-stream event and this means the switch is visible to the user (the buffer has played thru and the new bitrate stream is now viewable).  The time between the "Transition" and the "TransitionComplete" will be very close to the size of the current buffer.  I don't belive we are logging the current buffer size right now, but you can easily do that in your player by getting to the netStream object via the LoadTrait (in sprint 10, sprint 9 will be the loadedContext). There is another thread here about getting to the netStream object if you want to try this yourself.
    Hope that helps,

    My new iPad takes the second week to restore. When I power it up, each time it asks me if I would like to continue to download remaining apps/data or would prefer to delete them. Would be great to know what exactly has not been downloaded/restored yet. Does anyone know where/how I can check that?

    Apps that are downloading will be greyed out.
