Firefox 3.6.13 ajax setRequestHeader('User-Agent', '...') don't work

I did a javascript and in new Firefox version (3.6.13) don't overwrite the "User-Agent" Header in XMLHttpRequest.
Is this a new security feature? :S

I contacted Mozilla support for information on this bug, and they were completely useless.
I have searched and searched for more information on this bug, and this is about the only place I found this problem reported. I went into Bugzilla and searched Firefox bugs, and there is nothing about this problem.

Please who are hampered by this stupid bug in Firefox can follow and comment on that bug.

I just downloaded Firefox 5.0.1. for Mac because I have to fill something out on a website that requires that I have Firefox 2.0.0.12 Mac with web browsing capability at the "User Agent" category or higher for Firefox.
Do I have that with what I just downloaded? Need to know ASAP.

Since I updated Firefox 7, password for operations in banks webs don't work

Since I've downloaded new Firefox 7.0 my banks websites don't work correctly, specifically when I am doing a transaction like a money transfer, I have to enter a password in small bar enabled for thi purpose. When I enter the password, nothing happens. The screen remains as I am not doing anything.

Problem fixed. Had to uninstall Flash from the control panel and then reinstall.

User Authorization don't work in MD01.

I created the role with transaction MD01 only.
System generated two Authorization Objects:
1. S_TCODE - Transaction Code Check at Transaction Start:
MD01
2. M_MTDI_ORG - Organizational Levels for Material Requirements Planning:
MRP Controller (Materials Plan...
Activity types in materials pl MRP: total planning
Plant Unmaint. org. level
Next, I can don't write values of "Plant" or "MRP controller" in Authorization Objects M_MTDI_ORG. I can even delete Authorization Objects M_MTDI_ORG!
But the user with this role(only this) still can not only open MD01, but successfully complete planning. For any Plant or MRP controller.
Why it don't work? What i can do? I need to limit user authorization and i don't want to create Z-transaction for it

The Note contains only MDBT. But apparently, MD01 is also included in this rule.
If you use a user-exit M61X0001, a user must choose the user key in the selection screen. And user can change it. It's not what i need.

Firefox 3.6.16 is showing User Agent for Firefox 3.0.12

I am running Firefox 3.6.16 on Win7. However, the UserAgent shows Firefox 3.0.12. Why is this? Some of the web platforms I work with do not support 3.0.12.
I've even redownloaded and reinstalled 3.6.16, but the UserAgent remains 3.0.12. How can this be fixed? Are there any FF addons that would cause this?

Loaded Firefox to Windows XP with 4 users. One account works ok , the other 3 accounts doesn't boot email or Firefox correctly

When you install Firefox 4, choose the custom installation option and change the location where Firefox is installed. You will then have 2 versions of Firefox installed.
As you have different user accounts, each user will have their own Firefox profile (location where bookmarks, passwords, etc are stored). You should not switch between different versions of Firefox with the same user profile. For those that want to use Firefox 4, just make sure you use a Firefox shortcut that opens Firefox 4, likewise for the person who wants to stay with Firefox 3, just keep their original Firefox shortcut and it should open the old version.

Firefox 3.5.11 - verification codes I enter don't work on ANY websites. I always get the message that the code I entered is incorrect, so I have to switch to IE to do verifications. Why is this happening and how do I stop it?

Nothing is working properly, can`t login, tried changing/resetting password no go, rubbish service when something needs sorting out.
Original question was about Firefox changing my default page, the suggestions regarding adware/malware don`t apply, it is Firefox advert page that appears, not any other page, I have no interest in all that tablet, cellphone etc stuff, just want my browser left alone ! ! ! !

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.

Managed preferences: computer prefs work; user prefs don't work on Lion clients.

OK, so I'm running into a similar problem as before, but in reverse. On Snow Leopard clients, all of my MCX preferences work perfectly (computer and user). On Lion clients however, only computer/group preferences show up. User/group preferences are nowhere to be seen.
Server: OSX 10.6.8, OD (no AD)
Snow Leopard and Lion clients.
All clients bonded with server.
Most other services work.
Stuff I've tried:
Clearing/flushing MCX caches, unbonding/rebonding clients, restarting clients.
Deleting/recreating users and groups.
Restarting server.
Turning off all computer/group MCX preferences (so that only user preferences remained). No difference--accounts became unmanaged.
Goals:
Set Group sharepoint to automount for all users.
Set a Yearbook sharebpoint to automount for members of Yearbook group.
Set various preferences to Always Managed for students.

Lots of discoveries.
The problem isn't MCX preferences.
It was a combination of two things.
The preferences hierarchy was cancelling out some of the things I wanted to do.
The Lion clients weren't reacting nicely to my custom Group folder. I was following Wazza's Server Notes on creating a universal Group folder to share between user groups. The Snow Leopard clients were fine with this; the Lions weren.
Solution: It's a little bit of a hack, but I added my Groups folder to the Login as a simple AFP URL instead of ticking the "Add Group Share Point" box, and I did it from the computer groups instead of the user groups.
Bonus: Other MCX user settings are working now, and I'm a happy camper.

Trying to get Firefox to open in User Agent "Internet Explorer"

I run an Internet Cafe and have recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 over Micro$oft.
I HAVE to give customers an alternative to Live Messenger.
I have TokBox setup .. but gives problems now & then.
I need to cover all bases or lose customers.
The only viable alternative I have found is '''EBuddy'''.
Now the problem is .. when I log in using Internet Explorer and I connect to a contact - I can see the start video call "button".
Any other browser and the webcam button does not show.
All of the Firefox & Seamonkey User Agent Switchers I have tried work .. but I cannot expect the customer to know that they need to switch User Agent before they can use the webcam.
I need to Launch either Firefox or Seamonkey (preferably Seamonkey - if the fix is to be a permanent one) in Internet Explorer mode.
A permanent "fix" for Firefox was suggested on the Ubuntu Forum ...
1. Open about:config
2. Right-click, choose "New" > "String"
3. Type "general.useragent.override" (no parentheses) into the "New String Value" dialog box that appears and press "Enter." Type or copy and paste the desired new user agent string into the "Enter String Value" box (in this case "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1)" )
When you're done, copy that Firefox profile to all of your computers (the .mozilla folder)
I tried this on Seamonkey .. but it did not have the desired effect = no start video call button.
There is a Proxy Tool add on for Seamonkey which can change the user agent and this works. Same thing for Firefox.
But the user agent is back to default on browser re-start.
In an ideal world I would like to create a Launcher on Ubuntu desktop which would open either Firefox or Seamonkey on the E Buddy sign in page and the User Agent would automatically be set to IE8 or 9.

Try to set the user agent via a user.js file.

Change chromium user agent string

i edit some websites for school, and unfortunately, the cms software requires internet explorer 6/7. i'm looking to try changing the chromium user agent string to see if i can edit the pages in chromium.
i've tried the '--user-agent=' switch, but it doesn't seem to work. running
javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent)
still shows the usual chromium user agent string.
is there another way to change the user agent string?
or better: do you have any suggestions for getting around the cms browser issue? i'm trying to avoid more complicated solutions like running a vm, wine, dual booting with windows, etc.

I am not a user agent switching guru, but '--user-agent=' seems to work with http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

(there's a colon between 'javascript' and 'alert')
works too, e.g.
chromium --user-agent="MSIE 6.1"
shows a box with 'MSIE 6.1'.

KCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 1 with Safari "user agents"

I am trying to use the different "user agents" to test a web page with Safari in "Developer" mote but I get the above error. I even get it with the following:

I'm having the same problem. Have tried resetting router, reinstalling SOHO Notes on Mac and Notelife on iPhone.

Firefox appear in taskmanager but dont run,safe mode dont work,profile manager didnt start

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

User Account Passwords Not Working Following Time Machine Restore

Hard Drive failed; restored using Time Machine, but the Passwords for two user account don't work. The "hints" are correct.

Sound like they were backed up when the drive was failing & we have some corruption.

Have an old web site that I need access. IE 7 or earlier works Firefox 3 or 4 does not. User agent switcher used to have older versions listed but doesn't now. Any other ideas?

This is an old app to a server that will have no software updates. I can get logged in but when I try to go to any other page within the app it displays about 8 lines of WWWWWWW along the left side of the window followed by my username and message "Please wait page is loading". It never loads. App works with IE7 or older but have never successfully gotten Firefox 3 or 4 to work. Have had some success with User Agent Switcher Add On with some other apps in the past but it now doesn't show browser versions going back far enough to try them.

I can't guarantee anything, but there's a website that offers old versions of Firefox back to 0.8, so it should have what you need. :-)
