Firefox and click javascript function on h:commandLink
I was wondering if you can help me with a problem i'm having with a h:commandLink tag. What I am trying to do is give the user a choice of executing the action or not by using the confirm() and click() javascript functions:

This works in IE, a dialog box with "ok" and "cancel" appears and depending on which option the user selects, the link is "clicked" or not. However, this does not work in firefox as the browser just goes through with the action regardless of the option selected. Can someone please help?
probably set the property of <h:commandLink type="submit" /> or <h:commandLink immediate="true" />

FireFox 3.6.15 and newer require OS 10.5 or 10.6. The latest version of OS X the Macintosh G4 I own is physically capable of running is OS 10.4.11. Whenever I try to attach a file to an email in gmail.com or ymail.com, FireFox crashes. Is it possible to load a version of FireFox older than 3.6.15 to avoid having to buy a new computer?
Hi again - since writing the above I have posted on Adobe>Webplayer>Flash forum the following request and will post on here if I receive a reply that works:
Firefox updated to 3.6.14 and then advised Flash 10 be installed. I did this and now on YouTube videos all I see is a black screen with no play or pause button. System is OS X10.4.11 Have now followed Adobe instructions to Uninstall Flash player on system and then Install Flash 10. But still at YouTube Safari says Flash 10 is needed and in FF shows a black box only. I use Intego virus barrier but this has never blocked an update before. Flash is enabled in Firefox and Safari.
eldnolb at Adobe forum advised: Go to this site and right click on the Flash logo, Settings, Display Settings. UNcheck the hardware acceleration.

Launch RealPlayer
Click the RealPlayer icon in the upper-left corner of the window, and choose Preferences
Choose Download & Recording from the left-hand menu
Uncheck "Enable Web Download & Recording for these installed browser"

I've installed 64 bit Archlinux on my laptop. I noticed poor JavaScript performance with firefox. I had 32 bit linux before. I ran benchmark from this site: http://www2.webkit.org/perf/sunspider-0 … pider.html and I got these results (approximately) - Less means better:
firefox 3.0.11 - 3200 ms
firefox 3.5rc2 - 1500 ms
midori 0.1.7 - 1400 ms
But now on 64 bit, firefox is slown down:
firefox 3.0.11 - 3800 ms
firefox 3.5rc3 - 3200 ms
midori 0.1.7 - 860 ms
I tried several builds including self compiling, but results are the same
Well, it's not that big issue, because browsing is fine. I'm just curious why there is such difference. I thought 64 bit would be even faster...Same thing here.
Firefox is significantly slower than midori.

OS Hangs On Firefox and Thunderbird Javascript Errors
Hello all,
I recently swapped out my old HD for and SSD, and cloned my HD image to the SSD. Since then, whenever there is a javascript error in either Firefox or Thunderbird, the entire OS hangs for about 30-45 seconds, and when it recovers, either Firefox or Thunderbird pops up a javascript error notification. I can't remember the exact language used, but it was something about a script on the page being unresponsive. In Thunderbird, I keep a tab open for Google Calendar and Google Contacts. I also keep a tab open for SimpleNote. So that's where the problem comes from there, but in Firefox it can be from whatever happens to be open.
I absolutely never used to get a system freeze when I had a hard drive, but now that I have the solid state drive, I get them all the time. And almost always it's from the javascript unresponsive error in Firefox or Thunderbird. And I also almost never used to get javascript errors in either app when I had the hard drive.
I've done a good bit of searching for other reports of this but could only find one somewhat similar report that had gone unresolved. It is really frustrating sitting there waiting, because the entire OS usually freezes and I can't even switch to another app.
Machine is a 2007 MBP 2.33 GHz C2D.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

The only links that are usable are the ones I had on a Yahoo toolbar on my IE homepage which I never deleted or changed during this whole process. I've tried System Restore and a ClickFree Restore. All the Clickfree did was put hundreds of icons on my desktop that look like they go on from here to timbuck two. System Restore said the restoration failed - numerous times. Not sure if I should use Recuva - I'm a little gunshy now to try anything. Please help. Thanks SO much!
The Solution: Tools - Internet Options - Program Tab ... and there was the Default Web Browser option. It said that IE was NOT the default browser. I changed that and IT WORKED.

Option to stay logged in will be stored in cookies. Delete the cookies for the email site (for details on doing that see the [[Deleting cookies]] article). When you next log into the mail site, deselect any option on the login screen that says something like"remember me" or "stay signed in".

Javascript functions to control QuickTime not working in Firefox
I am using the provided Javascript functions to control QuickTime (7.6.2); however, the functions are not working in Firefox (3.0.11), whereas they are working in Safari (4.0.1).
I create a QuickTime Player, as follows:

The Music.mp3 file starts playing in both Safari and Firefox; however, the Javascript functions to control that playing work only in Safari, not in Firefox.
Examples of QuickTime functions that work in Safari, but not in Firefox:

document.embeds["qtp"].GetTime();
document.embeds["qtpID"].GetQuickTimeVersion();
The GetRate and GetTime functions always return a "0" in Firefox, the Stop command is ineffectual in Firefox, and the GetQuickTimeVersion function aborts the Javascript code in Firefox.
Any ideas what's happening?Dave, what you have done is very similar to what I have done, with the following exceptions:
1. I'm using the regular HTML version of QT_WriteOBJECT rather than the XHTML version.
2. My first parameter is an .mp3 file rather than a .mov poster in combination with an 'href'.
3. I'm not using some of your parameters, such as, 'target', 'targetcache', 'scale', 'href', and 'name'.
4. Instead of 'name', I'm using --- 'obj#id', 'qtp', 'emb#name', 'qtp' --- which allows me to then reference the QuickTime functions as --- document.qtp.Play(); document.qtp.Stop(); --- etc.
5. I'm not creating HTML buttons as player controls; rather I am using my javascript program to detect and control the player operation with functions such as --- document.qtp.GetRate(); document.qtp.GetTime(); document.qtp.GetDuration(); document.qtp.SetVolume(); document.qtp.SetMute(); document.qtp.Play(); document.qtp.Rewind(); document.qtp.Stop() --- etc.
6. I change my .mp3 files using --- document.qtp.SetURL();
7. All my javascript is contained in an iWeb HTML snippet using an iframe.
Essentially, I've created a jukebox with button images of album covers that can be visually scrolled and then clicked to play an album via the HTML onClick, onMouseOver, and onMouseOut functions.
This all works without a hitch in Safari; however, in FF, NN, and Opera, it only works if the iframe is completely visible on the screen. It can't be scrolled offpage, and the HTML album cover buttons in the iframe cannot be dimensionless, hidden, or blocked from view.
I really think it's the iframe that is causing this behavior in all the browsers (except Safari).
BTW, as an aside, I don't have a Windows machine, but no one I know using IE on a PC has been able to get my QuickTime Player working. I think it's because, when I want to collapse an album cover, I set its width to '1px' ('0px' works only in Safari), but I think IE may require a minimum width of '2px'. I have not tried changing my image widths to '2px' yet. -
im trying to uninstal firefox so i went to my control pannel clicked on add or remove progams then clicked on mozzola firefox and clicked remove it said it was still running so i clicked ctrl alt dlt and clicked task manager and ended firefox from running and when i did that the box to uninstall firefox exited so i clicked it again and the program started running again i dont know what to do i need firefox uninstalled
I assume you are using windows. There are two options:
1. Try restarting your computer and then try uninstalling.
2. Firefox might be a program that starts immediately upon booting. In that case, go to the task manager, end all tasks that firefox is running. Then try uninstalling firefox -
When i close Firefox, i can't reopen it without 1st doing to taskmaster and clicking endtask for it.
this happens most but not all of the time. I close Firefox and then cannot reopen it without going into taskmaster and highlighting Firefox and clicking "end task." Also related i think to this problem is that often when i am on a website using firefox as my web browser and there is a link to click on, nothing happens when i click on the link. I do not have this problem if i use Google Chrome for my web browser. I am running Windows 8 on a new computer but i had this problem develop in the past 2 months on my old computer before i switched to the new one.
*Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that there isn't a hanging Firefox or plugin-container process left in the Task Manager.
*Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

Problem with onBlur=validate_int_range javascript function

The function works fine but the problem is once i click ok on the validation boxes that come up when i enter a wrong value it allows me to click the submit box.But if i click back on the text box then the validation box appears again.

A friend said she downloaded an update to Firefox (a version of 6, I believe) but didn't install the update, but the desktop icon was gone. The only way to launch Firefox was from the Programs folder. When clicking on the Firefox file, a "Setup" pop up window appeared stating "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now?" Clicking "No" does not launch Firefox and clicking "Yes" reboots the computer, but nothing changes after restart and the same series of events keeps re-occurring. When clicking on the safe mode file, Firefox was launched. I went to "Add/Remove Programs" and found Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3. When attempting to remove the program, the same reboot "Setup" pop up appears, and the same non-results as previously described, persisted. I deleted all Firefox files and deleted the update set up .exe files. I again tried to remove the Firefox 3.6.3 program, with the same outcome as the previous attempt(s). I went to the Firefox website and downloaded the updated Firefox 7.0.1 set up .exe file, saved and ran it. When I reached the Setup Wizard page that prompts a "Standard" or "Custom" installation, I clicked on Standard and the same reboot pop up window appeared, again with no change after the reboot. So I have a Program installed (Firefox 3.6.3) with no files, and which can not be removed, an executed update/download .exe for Firefox 7.0.1 that can not be completely installed due to the failure to update by reboot problem. I'm out of ideas on how to try to resolve these problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
Try a clean reinstall.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
* Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

This is an ongoing problem with other users. When putting a PDF in address window of Firefox and clicking go to address FIREFOX WILL NOT LOAD AND DISPLAY THE PDF. I am using Firefox 23.0.1 (as some of the other users with the same problem). This was not a problem in the past with Firefox. Safari and Chrome continue load and display PDFs just fine from their addresses. This is a big problem as I now have to inform people who want to view my PDFs NOT TO USE FIREFOX BUT TO USE SAFARI OR CHROME.It appears that a link to a PDF on an internet page will not download in Firefox either!
