Firefox automatically adds port number in address bar when it should not.

I work for an ISP company that regularly sets up routers for customer locations. One of the things that I have to change on it is to set the management port to 8080. For instance 192.168.0.1:8080. Once I try to setup a new router Firefox automatically assumes that I want to go to the same 8080 port and automatically enters it in for me. Since the new router has not been setup with 8080 yet I can not get in. So basically I would like to see if I can stop Firefox from automatically entering this bit of information in. It is very annoying and even more annoying that I have to use a different browser to make the changes since Firefox can not. I did find a similar fix posted when Firefox automatically enters in ".www" but that did not fix my problem.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

• Can I add my parameter in address bar when calling form?

Hi,
I need to call form with parameter.
I'm calling reports with parameters. For example:
I need to do the same with form.
I tried but couldnot success. How can I do that?
I tried with:
I added WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE in form:
declare
pl_id paramList;
parameter_type number;
parameter_value varchar2 (200);
begin
pl_id := get_parameter_list ('default');
if not id_null (pl_id) then
get_parameter_attr (pl_id, 'P_PARAMETER1', parameter_type, parameter_value);
destroy_parameter_list (pl_id);
if parameter_value is not null then
USING PARAMETER...
end if;
end if;
end;

Hello,
In the url, the private parameters must be placved after the otherparams key word:
http://server.../frmservelt?config=MY_CONFIG&otherparams=the_param=the_value&...
The parameter list is not used in this case.
These parameters must exist in your Forms module in order to be used via the :PARAMETER object:
Declare
      value varchar2(100);
Begin
      value := :PARAMETER.the_param ;
End;Francois

• How can I stop multiple switching to address bar when navigating to pages?

Recently, whenever I go to a new page, Firefox will place my cursor focus in the address bar - if I try to click away it puts the focus right back into the address bar. If I wait for the page to load completely, I can click away without the focus returning. I have an add-on that places the focus in the address bar when I open a new tab, but it's never done it whenever a page loads.
It's driving me crazy, because normally when I go to a page I scroll using the arrow keys... which I can't do when my cursor is in the address box. I just updated to Firefox 34.0, which didn't fix the problem. I can't find an option to change this in the preferences window, and I can't identify anything that changed to make it do this...

A possible culprit is the Custom New Tab extension.

Ok, I'm asking again. In the address bar, when i hit the pull down arrow to show the list of sites i frequently visit i usually click on where i want to go...say espn.com, lately, when i click on the espn.com or any of the other sites listed, nothing happens, its stays on google, my home page. Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

• I want the cursor to be in the address bar when creating a new window; it works for new tabs and in a new private window, but not in safe mode.

I have tried following the advice offered in the few different threads I have found on this but nothing fixes it. I want the cursor to be in the address bar when I open a new window and/or when firefox opens without restoring a previous session. I fixed the issue for new tabs via about:config but this doesn't work for new windows. I tried safe mode and the problem persists. In new private windows the cursor is in the address bar.

The search box in about:home steals the cursor. Changing your home page to something else will cause the cursor to start in the address bar for new windows.

• First tab will not close and address bar in tab does not update.

The first tab and its address bar are not working as expected. I am unable to close the first tab using the close icon on the tab or by selecting close tab from right click menu.
I also find that the address bar when displaying the first tab does not display the current web address, only text that has been previously written into the address bar field.

While trying to figure out a solution, I removed my themes and I closed the tabs I could, then clicked on the new tab button, doing so changed my original tab into an (Untitled) tab and created a new (Untitled) tab. I then found I couldn't close either tab, I clicked on new tab again, got a third (Untitled) tab, which again I couldn't close. I then closed Firefox choosing not to save. This appears to have fixed the problem; however I do not know which of the above action(s) resolved it.

I am using Firefox 3.6.8. Oddly, my problem appeared a few hours PRIOR to Firefox automatically installing the latest updates (the week ending 7/23), not afterwards. The problem is this: the browser continues to display tabs, the reload/home/history/favorites icons, URL field and Google search field while in full-screen mode, so it's not really full-screen anymore. How can I correct this?

• Resetting / Removing Old URLs From Address Bar When Manually Typing In URLs

How do you Reset / Remove Old URLs From Address Bar When Manually Typing In URLs. You know, when you start to tpye in www. and about 2000 URLs visted in your life, and past life, appear in a list. It's annoying as all heck, and since it's in alphabetical order it's always throwing in the first one in the list... 1800flowers in my case. Isn't there a way to reset this or something? Or better, to turn it off? I've already tried emptying cache and clearing history. I also removed the .plist files as well. What would happen if I did a reinstall of Safari?

Hello Jonny Apple Seed
The way to clear the address bar is to reset Safari, under Safari menu,
this will also clear,
"Resetting Safari clears the history, empties the cache, clears the Downloads window, and removes all cookies. It also removes any saved user names and passwords or other AutoFill data and clears Google search entries.
In addition, any open windows are closed and a new window opens. The new window has a new history for the Back and Forward buttons and the SnapBack buttons". From Safari Help
A reinstalled Safari will just come to be the same, after a while. Not worth it in my opinion. The address bar will not be completely empty.
Hth some.

• Cursor automatically moves to the address bar when I open a new page

Ever since I installed Firefox 4, when I open a new tab the typing cursor automatically moves to the address bar instead of the search engine bar. I have the tab mix plus addon. A solution appears to have been found for the same problem with the newtabhomepage addon, but since the two are not compatible with each other, I don't want to switch addons. Is there any way I can fix this?
Thanks!

If your using the 'New Tab Homepage' extension then this happens when you upgrade to Firefox.
Open up Firefox and click on Ctrl+Shift+A to bring up the add on/extensions menu. Have a look in the Extensions bit for an Extension that has a version no of 0.4.3. if you have it then it needs uninstalling. Then download the new file from the mediafire link
http://www.mediafire.com/?v1113g9noytswdv
You will then be asked if you sure you want to install it and drag it on to the extensions page in Firefox.
Once installed restart Firefox. Once restarted your homepage will load whenever you start a new tab.

• Why can't I see the URL in the address bar when I click on a hyperling, as opposed to typing in a URL? I send a lot of links, but if I can't copy and paste them from your address bar I'll have to abandon Firefox and use another browser.

I just gave you the details. When I click on a hyperlink, the URL of the site/page is not in the address box at the top of the page.

Type about:config in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click I'll be careful, I promise! button.
-> In the Filter bar, type browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled
* Right click the preference browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled and click Toggle
* The value is now set to False
-> In the Filter bar, type browser.urlbar.trimURLs
* Right click the preference browser.urlbar.trimURLs and click Toggle
* The value is now set to False
-> Close the about:config tab and then Restart Firefox.
Check and tell if its working.

• New Dell laptop. In Firefox I cannot enter url in address bar or search terms in Google - Have reinstalled, same result. Other programs work. Have done variousus scans - found nothing. Otto S., Toronto

In Thunderbird I seem to be able to enter partial account information but then I invariably cannot go further. The only utililities I have installed are those I have used before without problems. The present version of Windows has a popup utility that asks if you want a particular program to make changes to your machine. This is new to me (at least I think it is part of Windows). Again no such problem with other programs -- key board works fine.

AND WHY CANT WE HAVE USE ONE PROTOCOL : TCP OR UPD AND ADD THE PORT NUMBERS 1433 & 1434 FOR ACCESSING SERVER & SQL BROWSER SERVICES ?
PLEASE HELP.
THANKS , SAURAV GHOSH
saurav ghosh

We need to understand how the firewall setups are done in  your environment like might be some restriction is there also need to check if IP level access are there for you or you need to get that.
Usually in secured setup, for your application, you need to get access on IP and Port to access database server. This is good also but may be more restriction you can bring in.
Also to update in inbound and outbound, is required too at times when you have firewall services on as this is being disabled\stop too in many setup due to application level functionality issues too.
You can definitely go ahead and add these ports, this will not disturb you environment as you are just giving access to sql server available on host which is accessed, how? you need to check, may be your application is accessing through IP not name, application
will look for Port on this IP.
Check some details about it:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tcp-and-udp-ports-explained/
Also:
TCP 1433
TCP port 1433 is the default port for SQL Server. This port is also the official Internet Assigned Number Authority (IANA) socket number for SQL Server. Client systems use TCP 1433 to connect to the database engine; SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) uses
the port to manage SQL Server instances across the network. You can reconfigure SQL Server to listen on a different port, but 1433 is by far the most common implementation.
UDP 1434
UDP port 1434 is used for SQL Server named instances. The SQL Server Browser service listens on this port for incoming connections to a named instance. The service then responds to the client with the TCP port number for the requested named instance.
The SQL Server Browser service listens for incoming connections to a named instance and provides the client the TCP port number that corresponds to that named instance. Normally the SQL Server Browser service is started whenever named instances of the Database
Engine are used. The SQL Server Browser service does not have to be started if the client is configured to connect to the specific port of the named instance.

• I want to Remove RSS icon from the address bar when I click on My SMF Forum

I have a SMF forum when I click on the login page I see an RSS icon in the right of the address bar next to a star.
The forum opens in an RSS to subscribe, which is stupid as it is not an RSS feed, it is a forum. I want to get rid of this and do not know how to do it.

This is a feature of firefox, although it may have been removed from firefox 4beta ( at least in default set up, no idea why). The appearance of the RSS icon within the location bar is intended to inform that RSS feeds are available from the site in use. You may note that this firefox forum we are using has such an icon displaying in the location bar, that is because feeds are available allowing you to track the threads, no doubt something similar happens with the SMF forum you mention.
If it is possible to remove the RSS icon from the location bar it will certainly not be straightforward, other than by upgrading to 4beta, and that is available now, and may be run whilst the stable version firefox 3.6 is still installed on your computer. (iirc there is an add-on available to add the rss icon to Fx4)
If a post answers your enquiry, you may wish to use the button alongside it to mark it as solved.

• In the address bar,when I click enter it wont go,i have to click the arrow? this changed about two days ago. Id really like to get it to go back to just clicking enter and it goes.

When I type a site into the address bar,and hit enter for it to go,it won't go,it used to. now i have to hit the lil green arrow and it's really annoying =/ this just suddenly happened. and ive uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. help?

This issue can be caused by an extension that is not working properly.<br>
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
