Firefox does not launch properly.
When I click on the icon to launch it, nothing happens. But when I launch the task manager, it says it is running but it never shows up as a browser. What's up with that? Basically then, it is only running in the background and not where I need it to run.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Firefox does not launch a website when I click a link.
When I click on some links firefox opens a new tab but does not launch the web page. The tab says (GIF Image, 1 x 1 pixels) but the screen is blank. I can get to the sites on my wife's firefox, but not on mine or on chrome from my computer.
Some firewalls like Kaspersky can block content and send a 1x1 GIF image instead.<br />

Running Windows 7. Installed latest version of Java and Firefox. Rebooted. Firefox no longer launches but does have a process running.
Something is preventing Firefox from loading your profile correctly. You may want to try loading Firefox in Safe Mode with add-ons disabled.
[https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode How To Start Firefox in Safe Mode]
Once you're in Safe Mode you can view a list of your plugins in '''Tools > Add-Ons > Plugins''' and disable each plug-in one by one until Firefox can open normally outside of safe-mode. If disabling one particular plugin fixes the problem you will need to uninstall that plugin. You are not able to uninstall plug-ins from within Firefox itself but sometimes they are related to other programs installed on Windows.
[http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/uninstall.html Uninstalling Plugins FAQ]
Your system details shows that your Firefox version is 3.x however the latest version is 4.0.1. If you're not sure you've installed the latest version you can try downloading the latest version and installing it again.

As a last resort you can uninstall and reinstall Firefox, while keeping existing user settings and profiles, but if it continues to hang while booting, as a final resort you can delete your profile and start over. Take note you '''will''' lose all of your preferences, bookmarks, and stored search queries and passwords.

Firefox does not close properly making reopening later impossible without rebooting computer.
I live in Texas and my sister lives in Georgia. We are both experiencing problems with closing Firefox. It appears to close properly but when I try to reopen later in the day, my computer tells me that it is still running in the back ground and cannot be reopened. I tried upgrading to the latest version but the problem persists. When I go into Task Manager, I can't find an entry for Firefox to close out.
Press '''CTRL+SHIFT+ESC''' to open Task Manager, go to the '''Processes '''menu, right click on '''firefox.exe''' and choose '''Kill Process'''.
When you finish a browsing session, go to '''File '''| '''Exit '''to close it if the problem persists.
Try disabling the McAfee Virtual Technician plugin via '''Tools '''| '''Add-ons''' | '''Plugins'''.

Firefox does not print properly a web page having a SWF on it
I have been desperately looking everywhere on the
web to solve this issue and this is actually the first time I ask a
question in a forum, because I can always find my answers by
Googling them.
This is fairly easy to explain, but this is a really annoying
issue.
I got the latest version of Firefox and the latest Flash
Player version. If I print out web pages having SWFs on them, they
do not show either on the print preview, then on the print out
itself. How could this happen? Using Microsoft Internet Explorer, I
have no problem whatsoever to have everything printed out in the
same context.
Is there actually a way to bypass that Firefox problem?
Thanks a lot,
Marc-André LapierreDoes anyone know if this issue is being addressed by Adobe?
We have a Flash vector drawing app, utilizing XML, which was developed in '06. It works incredibly well, even though it was developed in AS2. However, we need the resulting images to be able to print within the page. It works fine for IE, but no dice for Safari and Firefox.
One work-around we've built in (essentially creating a rasterized image) slows down our system and has been causing our subscription rates to drop.
We are now looking at rebuilding this thing, but it is going to be expensive, time consuming and frustrating in order to deal with only a small segment of our users.
Would love to hear if Adobe is going to address this issue - has anyone heard anything or know of another fix out there?
thanks,
brian. -

Hi!
My iBooks Author starts, but it shows that the machine is working and i cant choose anyting in my menue.
Any sugestions?
TrondI haven't heard of anyone having issues like this with iBooks Author, sorry.
You may want to run Disk Utilty and check drive health and repair permissions to see if any issues turn up there. Be sure you have significant free space on ypur harddrive.
Disable any 3rd party widgets that may not be fully compatible with Lion and don't use any betas. -
How do i solve this problem?

Firefox does not open proprely on the page but forms only 1/3 of page
When i open any site Firefox does not form properly on the page but takes up only 1/3 of the page (to the right).
Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons -
Running Windows 7 on one partition, and Windows 8 Consumer Preview on another, Firefox does not open for either.
Firefox crashes upon opening without an error message. I have reinstalled and manually cleared profile information. If I create a new profile, it works until I close and try to relaunch requiring me to make a new profile.
I have tried removing/reinstalling java as well (just in case), as I had been editing some of the java installation from my Windows 7 partition.
As I launch the Firefox, if I watch the task manager, Firefox.exe appears for a moment, but disappears almost immediately.
No files appear in 'C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports' directory with the exception of the 'InstallTime*********' file.
*Information posted in the "Troubleshooting Information" section below is from the Windows 8 Consumer Preview partition. There are some errors with my display driver not being updated properly, but Firefox -was- working on Windows 8 Consumer Preview until just recently, so I am assuming that is not part of the issue.Noah_SUMO,
Regarding Naomi Internet Filter, I verified that it was -not- something installed (I hadn't heard of it before, but I made sure nevertheless in case it piggybacked on something).
As far as system restore software, I keep none =x
Never have, and I change over OS's relatively often (I went from 7 this past fall to 7/Kubuntu/BTLinux, to 8DeveloperPreview/Kubuntu/BTLinux, to overwriting Kubuntu with 7 a few weeks later, overwrote 8DevPrev to 8ConsumerPreview, and then removed both linux partitions and remerged with a fresh install of two separate partitions for 7 and 8 (I help with some OS compatibility/stress testing for a friend's software development company).
As far as software that monitors or interacts with online connections..
Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin, Apple Application Support, Apple Software Update, Bonjour, Google Chrome (not that it's preferred over FF, just over IE ;]), Java(TM) 7 Update 3, Microsoft Security Essentials, Microsoft Silverlight (I started having issues not long after I installed Silverlight, however I don't feel like this is causing any issue, as I tried removing it and reinstalling everything from scratch, but no luck), Mozilla Firefox 11.0 (x86 en-US)/Mozilla Firefox 12.0 (x86 en-US), Mozilla Maintenance Service, No-IP DUC (tested this and found no difference or ability for it to hinder FF), (previously) Skype 5.8, TortoiseSVN 1.7.5.22551 (32 bit), and WinSCP 4.3.7.
None of which I've found to have issues with Firefox in the past, as well as FF was working with them until just recently.
As far as I can tell, automatic updates were disabled for everything (including my OS), and no changes had been made to any of the software, with the exception of I had installed Silverlight, but as mentioned earlier, I didn't find any issues with this.
Like you say, my best guess at this point would be that there's something funky set up with my partitions, and so I may just do another fresh wipe and try again (it just takes forever to get everything installed that I need for school, so I'll probably just wait it out for a while).
The only reason in which I would go against it being a partition setup issue, is that it -was- working. However, I do recognize that something could have come up after a while (not sure how, but I don't doubt it).
I hadn't thought about downgrading past 11, but it's definitely worth a shot, and I'm more than willing to try. once I'm done with stuff today I'll give it a shot and post the results here.
Thanks so much for your suggestions. -
Adobe Creative Cloud (Desktop) does not work properly. The application is blocked : it could not be launch neither stopped. I'm on MAC Yosemite OS, does anyone know how to remove it properly or to force its stop. It does not appear in the launched applications.
I received no error message. The application was just trying to find applications unsuccessfully.
I am using MAC OS 10.10.1
I tried to uninstall the application but it seems that a kind of deamon is still installed thus providing me to reinstall properly. Do you know where are the elements to remove in order to get my machine just like before ?
Otherwise I would have to reinstall everything and this would be a pain.
Thanks for your help. -

Have been running Firefox without problem in both my own and my child's account on my laptop. Today, although Firefox still works normally in my own account, it does not launch at all in my child's account. Clicking on either the short cut or via AllPrograms results in the timer starting briefly and then disappearing and nothing happening. I have checked Task Manager and Firefox is not showing as running in the Processes tab. I have tried to set up a new profile in that account to no effect.
I am having exactly the same problem. This worked on all versions of Firefox up until mid last week. It started failing on Wednesday, coincident with the installation of Firefox 8.0 (see attached gif showing the automatic update on that date).
To fix the problem, you have to shut down Firefox 8.0 on one account, switch to the other account and then you can run it there.
If Firefox 8.0 is running on on account, the other account will run Firefox, but when you enter an URL it waits for quite a while then reports "The connection was reset. The connection was reset while the page was loading".
We also use Thunderbird 8.0 and it does not exhibit this problem, and works at the same time as Firefox 8.0. I suspect they might share some components.
I'd be happy to supply more details if needed.
Thanks,
Ed -
