Firefox keeps crashing, the error report includes mentions of mswsock.dll being involved.
I keep getting random crashes, supposedly including mswsock.dll. I checked the forums and found numerous entries, however different users had different solutions to work for them and so far, I haven't found the reason for my problems.
Crash reports:
bp-c1f0b1e1-c000-4cc6-9b73-260192130624
bp-238afdec-eed7-444a-b0e4-dba422130624
bp-64e5efed-7bca-43d6-95ef-2d9972130624
and many more
Would appreciate any help
'''MSWSOCK.dll UPDATE:'''
Everything is still working fantstically! Not ONE crash of Firefox 24 OR Flash Player since the '''mswsock.dll''' file correction. And it was happening constantly, every 15 seconds to about three minutes. I am online all day 6am until 7pm.

Hi, Firefox on my desktop keeps crashing at just random moments. Sometimes not very often at all, but other times it can happen a few times within an hour.
My Desktop Window Manager also crashes regularly and the dialogue box always pops up saying its stopped working. However, this doesn't seem to effect anything.
It could be realated though, as I just had this desktop built a few weeks ago and a few times it's crashed as well as programs.
If anyone can help me fix this issue with Firefox, that would be great. Thanks in advance.Hi,
I updated the Flash plugin, but I still keep getting crashes.
I will try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player as you recommended and hopefully this will work.
Although the last crash report I got has a different problem then before,

Itunes keeps getting the error report
when i try to open itunes, that annoying error report comes up saying "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvienence"... and it happens everytime.
i try to reseach about this problem, and i've called windows AND apple! NO ONE CAN FIX IT FOR ME! I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING- re-installing itunes and quicktime... but when i deleted itunes and quicktime, and tried to re-install it, it says the i already have a newer version of quicktime, so i cant install it. so, i go to delete it, and it says i already deleted it! i search my computer using the search thing on the control panel... and no quicktime comes up! but, when i try to install quicktime, it says i have already have it...
its so frustrating! i've had this problem since july 2006.. and i cant fix it. i desperatly need help... i am so stressed out because of this. please, HELP ME!! I AM SO STRESSED, FRUSTRATED, AND I AM GETTING DEPRESED- U KNOW HOW COMPUTERS ARE!! PLEASE! HELP!oh mi gosh... i think my problem might be solved...
go to search on your computer. then type in program files. its a folder that should be in your "C" drive.... so, when u find it, click on it. and then scroll down and delete everything related to itunes... ipod, itunes, and quicktime, etc.. and if u cant delete a folder, go INTO that folder and try to delete everything... and if u still can delete it, then just cut and paste that certain file u cant delete onto your desktop. so- u should have deleted all the folders related to itunes out of program files.. and u will have some files on ur desktop. then restart ur computer. and then try to delte the files. keep restarting computer and deleting. it took me awaile. but, now i am re-installing everything, fresh. like itunes was never on my computer! i hope it works, and it should. if it doesnt, i'll cry. but try it, and tell me how it works! i'll help u if u have problems. my email is [email protected] -

machine-check is a Hardware problem. Memory problems often show error code 4 or 5, and are detected by MULTIPLE Processors at once. (a software problem would panic-out ONE Processor, and would not say Machine-check.
The Xeon Processor with Error Correcting Code memory on the Mac Pro stores additional bits with each word in memory, carefully computed so that if the word is read back with one bit wrong, the errant bit can be corrected by Hardware with essentially no slowdown. A background task collects and tabulates the error occurrences, and they can be read back using the STATIC display shown below.
Uncorrectable errors are detected, but most of these cannot be corrected, so your Mac will halt with a kernel panic, machine check detected by multiple processors. This is by design, to avoid poisoning your data.

So go about your usual work. From Time-to-Time, re-invoke or Refresh this display. The first modules to show up with errors are BAD, and any filled slots that show as "empty" had errors during the power-on self test, and are also BAD. -

I'm operating a new laptop using Windows 7. Ever since the update last Fri, Firefox keeps crashing on most websites I visit. It's very frustrating. I've browsed to folder C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components but there is no file nsBrowserOpt.dll.
Mozilla do not respond to crash reports that have been submitted. they are used to help analyze the causes of the crashing in order to make Firefox more stable.
Can you post some of the recent crash report IDs as shown in the [[Firefox crashes]] article, that may help somebody identify the cause of your crashes. -

That way you still have the benefit from hardware acceleration, but may not suffer from rendering issues.
You can also try to uninstall Windows update KB2670838 if you have this update.

My late 2011 MBP has been randomly restarting lately. Very frustrating. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Is it a kernal panic, and if so what can I do about it? I have included the error report below. Thanks!

My HP 2000 keeps crashing, the message is System Recovery Error or Enabled
My HP 200 Note Book keeps crashing and restarting. The message is something like System Recovery Error or System Recovery Enabled. Also Firefox keeps crashing. I have run virus and malware scans. It must be something in the hard drive? Anyone else run into this problem?
Hello P25ab07,
What is your product number? Did you attempt to perform a recovery in the past?
Thanks,

Hello, iam using the latest version of firefox, whenever i login into my yahoo mail account i get a stop script error, the details of the error script is mentioned below , please suggest how to stop this
the website is www.mail.yahoo.com. i was getting the same STOP script error every now and then in firefox 6 as wellI have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6. -
Firefox keeps crashing now that I have Windows 8. I have updatd my Adobe Flash and am not sure what the problem is. Very frustrating.
Hi may you please ask a new question, sclutterd, it gives us troubleshooting info. Nightly is pretty unstable anyways.
