Firefox loading pages really slow

So a lot of pages are loading really slow like minutes, like youtube and hot.ee mail service and a lot more. It started to happen when i updated to 20.0. Looked up some suggestions and found that about:config network.http.keep-alive to false help. And so i did it and it worked, but next time i opened firefox again it was slow loading again, but keep-alive is false still, disabled all not nessecary plugins and extensions and i dont seem to find a solution. Been a firefox user for a long time and dont want to change my browser.

I tried every suggestion, and still had VERY slow page loads (minutes!) for some websites.
The strange part was that [http://www.clickster.com Clickster.COM] would load quickly if I typed '''clickster.com''' into the address bar, but would take minutes if loading from a link or bookmark whose url was '''http://clickster.com'''.
After trying everything, here was the still slightly unsatisfactory solution (Firefox 22.0):
(1) Type '''about:config''' in Firefox address bar.
(2) Promise to be good.
(3) Change '''network.http.keep-alive.timeout''' from 115 to '''0'''
(4) Change the link or bookmark url to [http://www.clickster.com www.clickster.com]
Note that neither Chrome or IE have this bizarre behavior, and load instantly from a link, bookmark, typed-in url, with or without the '''www'''. There is still a serious Firefox bug.

  • Firefox loads pages much slower than Chrome

Recently switched back to using Firefox as I wasn't finding the extensions I like for Chrome only to discover that Firefox is running significantly slower by comparison. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling and it hasn't helped.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
    See:
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Firewalls
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Computer loading pages too slow. How can I fix this? When I go to iMac Manuals a gey/black screen appears. What is going on with this?

Unfortunately you haven't provided any useful information, such as what iMac you have, which version of OS X is installed, the capacity of the HD and how much is still available, etc...
Please complete your profile so we can begin to assist you, without that critical information we are guessing.

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up
    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Firefox loads pages barely/not

Firefox recently doesn't load pages anymore, or it loads them only partially.
The startpage (google) is sometimes loaded completely, sometimes it appears only blank. If I go to other pages, FF aborts the loading process and only the background color is loaded, or it appears completely blank. But he states, that the page is loaded...
The connection with IE works, and it seems, when I load some pages in IE and visit them after that in FF, a little bit more of the page is loaded.
It is no problem with a firewall (since I am not running any, only a hardware-firewall). I have also created a new profile, and reinstalled firefox.
Antivir is running but the problem remains when I deactivate its processes.
It may have something to do with a virus, which I removed beforehand...

By the way, I tried to upload a screenshot of this page which should show the symptom but the 500K never ever finished uploading. Note that the background on this every page I load in Firefox is white. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox with no improvement.

  • Safari 8.0 loads pages very slow

Why does Safari 8.0 load webpages so slow now that I have installed OS X 10.10 - even the Apple.com page is painfully slow to load.

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Firefox loads pages so that I have to move the blue slider over to view the entire page, why won't it load the page to fit my screen properly?

If I go to a textual forum, only the first two-thirds of each line is displayed, I have to move the slider to see the right hand end of each sentence.
If I go to an image oriented page such as YouTube, the image is loaded so that I see mainly the left most portions of it very large and have to move that blue slider at the bottom of the screen to the right to see the rest of the page.

    Hello ,
when suddenly one site is very big or very small, resetting the Firefox page zoom can help.
    You have two options:
Go to ''View'' > ''Zoom'' > ''Reset'' or press the shortcut Ctrl+0
    This should fix it!

  • FireFox loads page fine, but IE takes 30 to 60 seconds??

I have updated one of our areas of our company's Intranet
website using DW8 and Fireworks8. I use templates so that a single
change can then be applied to multiple pages at once. I also use
Fireworks to create the navigation -- which I then imbed the HTML
and image slices from Fireworks into DW's template.
I use Firefox 98% of the time and it loaded just fine so I
published it. However, most everyone in our company uses IE. In IE,
the page, or any of the pages based on this template, takes 30 to
50 seconds to complete. Before that time, they show as 'not
responding'. But, as long as you are patient, it eventually
finishes loading and you can make ONE click and then wait another
    30 to 50 seconds.
However, in Firefox, it works just fine. The only thing I can
think of that would cause this (it used to work fine) is the HTML
and/or image slices from Firefox as that is the only update I've
made to the template or to any of the pages based on the template.
I can copy the HTML here if needed.
    Any ideas?

Good idea -- it will take me a bit to do. But, I'll get it
out there in the next day or so. I'm the lone' IT guy at a 150
employee company (fun fun) so time is an asset. : )
Oh, and there isn't any confidential info -- this is more for

You either have an extension that causes that issue or some security software (firewall) is causing a delay.
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
Also make sure that Firefox gets full unrestricted access to the internet.

  • ITunes songs skipping while Mozilla Firefox loading page

Periodically when I am loading a page on Mozilla Firefox, my currently playing iTunes song always skips... does anyone else get this? Or is it just a problem with my computer?

I sometimes get times when Firefox seems to hang when loading a page. During this time I can't even bring up task manager so it does not surprise me that your sound would be affected.

  • Firefox loads page at first start extremely slowly & while using suddenly loses its connection ability! How can I fix this?

I'm using Firefox 4.0 I did all the updates I could, I didn't change anything except the history preferences and from advanced -> network
    Whats happening:
I'm starting firefox, first time or second time I start doesn't matter, it brings every single page extremely slowly (google,facebook,mozilla.com etc)
after a while it loads the page, and after a little more while suddenly it loses connection and returns to first position
    bringing pages extremely slowly
It's not about my internet connection, I have a good one and other applications using internet are working perfectly (including IE)

Thanks for responding, David. Using <Esc> and <CtrlW> might reduce the time in returning to the other tab, but does little when the triggering of a wanton alarm is very frequent. The connections I have used were extremely reliable and fast. I am using at this moment a 54 Mbps WiFi connection that lives up to its ratings in downloading & uploading data; yet, as shown in the attached image, I still get this worthless alarm. I do not know if this problem happens with my regular ISP since I have been using this tiny notebook only when traveling -- will test that once I am back mostly for curiosity, but even then if then the alarm were not triggered this would be of little consolation, since other browsers do not have the problem right now).
As a moderator, I urge you to ask the Mozilla-powers-to-be why there is no way to turn off the alarm with, say, a true/false switch in about:config (mind you, there is still old-versions junk in this config list, so it isn't we are talking about amending the constitution). Complains about this fugly alarm can be traced in the web as far back as 2010 at least. Besides, what is the advantage of the alarm for the average user? When FF users are still posing amazingly basic questions in forums of Firefox or Mozilla support, such an alarm ought to be _off_ by default and should be an option of advanced settings menu. This annoyance shows how much the critical focus on keeping a simple GUI uncluttered by trivial or higher-level messages still needs to evolve for Firefox, which I have used it since it was known a Firebird. Guess will have to switch to Chrome now while abroad.

  • Pages really slow after update

Since I updated pages my ipad and iPhone. It's is unbearably slow and crashes all the time. I go to use it and it takes ages to think about it. Then I will use it for a while. It will  Crash or take absolutely ages to do what I'm asking it. I'm having to do everything in my notes page and then transfer it at a later date because I can't trust it to do things straight away. What should take 2 minutes now takes 10. Also when I highlight light something to either copy, delete etc.. It takes ages. I highlight something, it freezes, then un-lights. So I do it again and have to repeat the process at least 3-4 times before it finally works it out. Also if u want to copy something from another document and you go away from pages and then come back I have to wait at lease 30 secs to a minute before I can work on the document again. So if I have to cut and paste lots of thing the whole process is very frustrating .
Also if I work on a document and then have to go to something else, upon my return. I will have to wait 20-30 seconds before I can start tying again. And  sometimes it crashes or opens a document filled with white and black squares and then crashes. And if I shut it all down to re open it. It will still be in the same state so  I have to wait for a further  minute.
I know it is this is the app as everything else works fine. I've un installed it and installed it twice and nothing have improved.
Please help to rectify this problem Apple.
    Regards
    GNIL1

    Your lucky.
Might have to do that then. As it's killing me. Although last time I reset my pad. I took all day so I'll have to dedicate one of my days off.
If that doesn't work. I don't know what I'll do.
    Very boring though!
Thanks for your ideas. Appreciate it.

  • Sharing Preference Pane loading up REALLY slow, beach ball

I'm getting this message in the Console Log:
    System Preferences[431] ### Error:268435460 File:/SourceCache/SharingPref/SharingPref-106/FileSharing.m Line:348
The Sharing Pane will keep on beach balling, for a couple minutes, then when it loads, if I make any changes (uncheck something) it will beach ball again for minutes.
Anyone else been able to solve this?

fresh install of Tiger about 4 days ago, and it started happening yesterday.
I think it might have something to do with "Personal File Sharing" ... since that's the only service on the list that won't turn on.
Each service will turn on, but it just takes a couple minutes after I click on each one for them to turn on.
