Firefox screws MAC users AGAIN on PayPal no multi order

Once again a Firefox update has cut off MAC users from using PayPal multi order shipping.
No notice, no fix, how do you manage to screw up the largest site connected to Ebay ?
Now I have to use USPS.com because YOU didn't check your update before TRELLING us to install it. SLOPPY WORK!!!!!!
== URL of affected sites ==
http://www.paypal.com

3.6.8 is the current version according to your website Mr. edmeister.
I have been sitting here for 45 minutes trying to load paypal multi order shipping on 3.6.8 and it WILL NOT LOAD.
I called PayPal and they said it is a known failure in the newest version of Firefox and they cannot do anything about it.
So rather than picking on me why don't YOU FIX IT!

    Hi there
I think in this case, you may be best to speak with Microsoft about this, as it does seem like an issue with Office, and not your Mac.
Follow this link, to find your local Microsoft Support contact number.
Or perhaps create a new topic in the Microsoft Support Communities
    Good luck

  • Mac users left in the cold... once again

Why is it that PC iTunes users can playback a lot more formats then mac users?
Why can a PC user playback or import a wma file and we can't? I mean I understand that it's a microsoft codec but that's what things like flip4mac are for, aren't they?
I also think it's a shame that emerging popular formats like flac, ogg vorbis, ape, etc... are not supported, not even for importing. A big MINUS for Apple if you ask me. I even have some AAC files that iTunes doesn't recognize, even though quicktime does ?!?!?!?! (I thought at least they were using the same codecs...)

Well I'm sorry but I've tried all the links and I thought this would be the best place to express myself.
You might read the Terms of Use (link on the right side of this page).

A lot of fellow users are willing to reply if you have such a question.
If you want to express yourself or give an opinion, these forums are not the place for that.
Doing so will get this topic locked or deleted.
Various other discussion groups allow you to express yourself or give an opinion.
If your computer is still covered by your AppleCare Protection Plan, you can get (free) official help there.
If not, you have to pay € 39 per incident, or visit an Apple Center (there are two of them in Amsterdam). Maybe they are willing to answer a question during the 'silent hours'.
Unfortunately, there are no Genius Bars (yet) in NL.
These Discussion forums are also a great place for asking questions.

If I can do locally or through a profile, that would be great

hello, you could use the mozilla.cfg file in the firefox program folder in order to lock or set certain preferences - here is some general information on how to set that up: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
and specific guide to set the homepage can be found here: http://mike.kaply.com/2012/08/29/setting-the-default-firefox-homepage-with-autoconfig/ (this blog also contains may other helpful resources for deploying firefox)

It's strange. The problem apparently resolved itself after I ran TechTool on it. When I clicked on Firefox last night, I had no problem opening a window. Thanks for your help. (As to your previous post, the focus was on Firefox and neither the speed keys nor the menu bar would open a window or tab of allow me to enter a URL to open a window. Strange!)

    Hi Ryan,
I managed to find this reference specifically for restoring on Snow Leopard:
If you are using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, start your computer from the installation disc. Then use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility.
Now that was copied from this more comprehensive reference:
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac
You may also find this article helpful:
    http://pondini.org/TM/14.html
Finally, I cannot see why Time Machine would leave out your playlists and ratings? Think about it. Why would Time Machine specifically copy everything BUT your playlists and ratings? Ryan, what are your options? I would have to ask you this: Are you certain that you properly did the sync? That is another/different forum altogether: Using iPhone /see subsection on Syncing.
    Either way...
    Best Regards,
    mm
EDIT: For whatever reason I tried three times to edit out one of the redundent adjectives... either different or another which preceeds the word forum, but the advanced editor would (apparently NOT allow me to do so). I hope that it doesn't render without any adjective before the word forum.

  • Is MSN hotmail forcing mac users to use Outlook a problem?

    A) Hotmail is forcing its email users to use Outlook.com
    B) It needs Microsoft Silverlight
    C) Outlook.com is optimized for IE, Chrome 17 & up, Firefox 10 & up, & Safari 5.1
I spent years as a mac user where I couldn't send email out from hotmail because of Microsoft. Is this going to happen again?
    I prefer Safari v 6.0.3.

There is no need for that, everything works as it used to, MS changed the name of the service, not anything else.
    Safari 6.0.3, and Outlook.com

My company has just launched our new website www.robotandspark.com - which loads correctly the first time you view it, but if you close the window, open a new one and type the URL, the page appears blank (white). Is this a Firefox or a website issue? Thanks

If the problem only with MAC then try in safemode
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

  • US Government agency refuses Mac users!!

I am a professor and researcher in a US university. I am required to submit reports on my work several times a year and keep a website about the work up to date. This week, as a part of that website maintenance on a government server, I started having problems editing it. The following is correspondence between me and their webmistress:
I have removed private information, but the thread is clear!
    (Start quote)
Yes, the Mac is the problem. You might ask around and see if any of the other folks have successfully used their Macs for this project. If not, is there a PC around that you could use. Sorry for the problem.

    My browser is Safari 3.1.2.
I have tried on a Mac Pro with Intel Quad Core processor in my office and a Mac Book Pro with Intel dual core processor at home. I get the same results both times.
Does that give you enough background? Do you need more information?

Is making Mac users "the problem" permissible behavior for a Federal agency?
What can we do about this?

    MerlynsDragon,
The problem is not your Mac or Safari, but a poorly designed website. Safari uses established web standards, but not all website software complies with those open standards. If a Microsoft product is being used by the agency that maintains this server, and the server software running on it, the likelihood of this website using non-standard protocols goes up exponentially.
In many of these cases, you can solve the problem by using Firefox (have you tried this?). In extreme cases, the website may be using ActiveX, which would necessitate the use of a Windows client, period.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier prints only in black/MAC USER & won't align?

PROBLEM # 1) I've replaced all my ink cartridges, but can't find out why my printer is now only printing in black? I'm a MAC user, so I want to print in color, and am trying to find instructions for a MAC on how to get back to printing in color?
    ACTION TAKEN #1
UPDATE: I've done a three level cleaning of the printer heads, which DOES print in color and each color block now looks great.  The printer heads were not printing any color blocks, but the pink color block,  until the first third level cleaning. I then cleaned the printer heads a second time all the way through the third level.
RESULT: However when I print from any document/web page my printer only still prints in black & white after these two printer adjustments double three stage printer cartridge claening?
     ACTION TAKEN #2
    I found this very detailed report and video on cleaning printer heads, alignment issues, and calibrate line feeds;
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01624398&lc=en&product=3964986&tmp...
The Print Quality Diagnostics Page looks perfect (including the alignment section)  in all 3 test patterns, and again prints in color.
RESULT: However, my printer still will not print in color after trying all these steps?
IPROBLEM #2)I  've also tried a align printer which also prints in color,  but states, "alignment failed see documentation manual"? To make the situation more complicated the alignment page looks perfect  and prints in color before the error message displays.
After puling the power cord  twice while ON  and wiating 20 seconds, as discussed in the above link. my printer "won't remove the, "align  error message see diagnostics manual".
RESULT: Printer "won't remove the, "align  error message see diagnostics manual", even though the Printer Diagnostic Pages looks great, and the alignment page as well.
I'm operating a lastest version Macbook Air laptop OS X 10.9.4. I have not upgraded to a new operating system since this problem started a week ago, and Ive owned this HP Printer for 2 years.
UPDATE: ISSUE SOLVED. Well you can imagine when I say that I spent about 2 hours on this yesterday that yea he's right. This took a long time to research and try all these solutions. I told my wife about the issue and had her try:
ACTION TAKEN #3: Print a page from a second computer. Windows laptop printed a colored page from a web site.
SOLUTION: (Printing only in Black Color): Wife literally solved the problem in 3 minutes!
Look below at the presets drop-down arrow tab, which is right below the printer name: You will see PLAIN PAPER, FAST DRAFT, BLACK AN(D WHITE). I'm not sure how I checked this, but this is how you can print only in black ink. NOTE: I looked at dozens of answers across the web, and didn't find this info anywhere else!
This screen shot show you what the setting should be if you want to print in fast draft mode to use the least amount of color ink.

    Hi monkplayer,
It looks like your problem is solved? There wasn't a problem with the printer itself, just the printer settings on your Mac?
This is good information though. We don't always have detailed solutions for customers that are using Safari, since it is hard to write instructions for the general public with specific steps for each operating system.
    Best of luck,
    Mary

  • Mac User Cannot Use Form Created in Windows Acrobat 9.0 Pro

I have created a form and emailed it to a Mac user.  He does not know what version of Acrobat he has or even if he is using a full version of Acrobat or Acrobat Reader (I tried to walk him through to check his version, but he could not find it).
He is using a laptop that is about 5 years old.
Anyway....I created this form in Acrobat 9.0 Pro.  It works great for me...when I type in the fields, the text falls perfectly on the lines; the autocalculate works perfectly, and the RESET button works perfectly.  When he opens the file, the text shows all below the lines, the autocalculate does not work at all, and neither does the RESET button.  He sent it to another person, and they too could not use the form.
I have enabled the PDF so it can be filled out by Reader users and it is not in PDF/A mode, but it still is not working for him.  I went to the library where they have a Mac and I was able to open it through Acrobat Reader 9 and again, I was able to fill the form out and it worked perfectly for me.
Would anyone be available (with a Mac) through email so I could send you the file to see if any Acrobat pros might be able to tell me what is wrong with it?  I am absolutely frustrated to the points of tears over this.  If you do not want to place your email here, I will give you mine so you can email me first ([email protected]); just let me know here that you are emailing me so I know to check email rather than check here.
    Thank you!
    Laura

He's probably not using either Acrobat or Reader. The Mac comes with a built-in PDF viewer named Preview and it has limited support for PDF forms. It even corrupts them when it saves. It should definitely be avoided. Fortunately Reader is freely available, you just have to get him to install it.

  • How do I get the Web Console on top, in FireFox 21 Mac?

In Firefox 21, the Web Developer Web Console seems to be fixed to the bottom with no option to change it. In previous version of FF, there was an option to put it on the top of the window. The bottom is a bad place for the Web Console, especially for Mac users. For one, the status line is right above the command prompt when something is loading or I'm moused-over a link, so I can't type in the prompt. Also annoying as a Mac user, when I bring the mouse too close to the bottom of the window, to type in the console prompt, my dock pops up. Whenever I want to use the console prompt, I have to bring the window up an inch to keep my Mac OS dock from popping up.

I prefer relative inside positioning to a separate window getting in the way. You must assume that I already know what the Web Developer console is to basic extent; it's not a tip to point out an elaborate and separate option that is already known to all who are familiar with the console. Perhaps I didn't explain my problem correctly. I think I meant Web Developer Web Console "above" not "top", but yes "top" to CSS definition of top, including whatever it is called in GUI terms "above", but not like window above or top in layers.
