Firefox shows no text in menus or buttons, after tinkering with gtk

Hello, first post one this forum.
Well, I have an ugly problem. I wanted gtk apps to look like Qt, because GTK sucks for not integrating for crap into the kde desktop, unlike the Qt toolkit.... Anyways, it works quite well, the integration, after trying the 'gtk-demo' app, to preview it, better than nothing.
After experimenting with it a lot, installing the gtk-qt-engine package many times, including from source, then uninstalling them all and installing the 'gtk-qt-engine' package, it finally worked.
So I open up firefox and to my dismay, am met with the disability to navigate...really, at all, in firefox. I tried wiping the .mozilla folder, the .gtk2 folder, and any dot folder I could find that related to gtk settings... No avail.
I'm running kde from svn (trunk) by the way.
Look at this image.. it's horrible isn't it?
It would be nice if I could haz my text back
The below output is what is thrown to the terminal, which seems like it is *probably* related, considering it is talking about negative font sizes

  • Whenever we click on any of the link to open it, the firefox shows popup - an error having two buttons 'Send Error Report' and ' Dont Send'. Clickking on either of them closes the firefox and it is continously irritating us a lot.

any it site it may be, clicking on any link which opens in a new tab or a window, always firefox gets crashed. Please reply the solution as soon as possible as it is really very very irritating.

  • Firefox will not open on my computer, even after reinstall, with no error message or when I try to run "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p. Help?

I recently installed firefox so I could use an adblocker. It installed just fine, and it worked just fine for about three days. Then yesterday it stopped opening. I'm on a Toshiba running Windows 7. The icon highlights when I click on it, but then it stops and won't open the browser at all. When I try to run it with the manual command "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p, I get the error message, "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location." I installed it to that location, and I don't need a disk. I'm connected to the Internet just fine and my other browsers (Chrome and IE) work the same as always. But they're swamped with ads and I really was happy wih Firefox when it was opening...how can I fix this issue?

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • Are there any problems with motion menus and buttons in DVDSP 2 on OS 10.4?

I have not used DVD Studio Pro 2 since upgrading to Tiger but it appears to no longer be showing moving motion on menus and buttons.
Are there any problems that I should be aware of when using DVDSP2 on OS 10.4?
I have not upgrade to a newer version only because I do not have any HD software to create DVDs.
    Thanks

When I open FF there is no text displaying(menus, content, etc.), and most of the window is blacked out. For example... I can see the the firefox button on the top left corner, when I go to it the drop down list drops and there is no text, if I move down the drop down I hit where there is a slide out in that drop down and no text is there. I updated to Firefox 5, under the help button in the browser "about Firefox" shows the new version, but my shortcut buttons on my monitor still show "Firefox 4.0 Beta 10". Most updates also update the shortcut buttons. Is there a way I can do this?

I just updated to Firefox 5. About Firefox shows me no version number at all. I had to look at Help > Troubleshooting Information to see the version number.
Update: I saw the version number after changing themes. I guess it depends on what theme you use.

Make sure that sure software isn't blocking content like CSS files.
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
