Firefox throws "This Connection is Untrusted" when using hostname, but not when using IP address

I am remotely accessing a website which has iFrame in it. The website uses https, but iFrame tag has "src" pointing to a site using http only. However, when I remotely go to the site, iFrame shows the message below although the ''src" url is http only (there is no SSL certificate) when I use IP address (https://10.10.101.156:8006/apprecovery/admin/Core/Storage) in address bar instead of hostname (https://hostname:8006/apprecovery/admin):
===
This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to d37t50w1, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
d37t50w1 uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.
(Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)
===
Why is it giving this when using hostname but not when IP address is using?

Corrected first para above:
I am remotely accessing a website which has iFrame in it. The website uses https, but iFrame tag has "src" pointing to a site using http only. However, when I remotely go to the site, iFrame shows the message below although the "src" url is http only (there is no SSL certificate) when I use hostname address (https://<hostname>:8006/apprecovery/admin) in address bar. But I dont see the message in iFrame when I instead use IP Address (https://<IP Address>:8006/apprecovery/admin) to go to main website.

  • Why does Firefox say "This Connection is Untrusted" for most websites?

    Firefox tells me the connection isn't trusted for pretty much every site I attempt to go to. I can't bypass it and I have tried everything I read in the support articles, changed settings, resetting and restarting etc. Nothing works. Please help!

    Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
    Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details to expand this section.<br>If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
    You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
    *Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
    Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
    *Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
    You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
    If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
    Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
    * Name associated with your security software, such as ESET, BitDefender, etc.
    * FiddlerRoot (usually indicates unwanted software being installed named similarly to BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard; see [/questions/982532#answer-520145])
    * Sendori (indicates unwanted software from Sendori; see [/questions/861138])

  • Why is the right hand side of the tables on a Word document that was imported being cut off using Webhelp but not when using Webhelp Pro?

    I would prefer to use Webhelp and not Webhelp Pro because Webhelp allow for the insertion of a logo located to the right of the search field by selecting the "Show About" check box when generating content. The problem is that Webhelp is cutting off the words in the tables. Wordwrap is turned on in the Word document and the rest of the sentence will continue beneath the "cut off" word.

    You would only use WebHelp Pro if you were using RH Server – that’s what the “pro” versions of output are for. I would suggest that something’s wrong with your table definition. You talk about a Word document – is this the source or the output you’re talking about?

  • Me edge animate project works when I test, but not when I publish. Please help.

    I feel like this has happened to me in the past, but I just cannot get the thing to work when I post it online. It's just a blank page, all white. I think there might be something in the code of one of the .js files that I need to change.
    ??  I saw something about the phrase 'use strict' but I can't find that code anywhere.
    There must be something I'm forgetting. I put all of the published files up on the server, and I just can't access it. Any help would be seriously appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Can you share the website link so that we can see what the issue is?

  • The "This connection is untrusted" screen pos up, and and when I press "I understand" no "add exception button appears. I think that the button's underneath some text; but firefox won't let me scroll down.

    It displays the following after I click "I understand the Risks":
    "If you understand what's going on, you
    can tell Firefox to start trusting this site's identification.
    Even if you trust the site, this error could mean that someone is
    tampering" But it doesn't show me the "with your connection." part and the "add exception button, and it won't let me scroll down.

    unfortunately the fiddler2 issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

  • Two cols index used when "col1=:1" but not when "col1 is null"(same cardin)

    Hi everybody,
    here is my test case (Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bi):
    DROP TABLE TEST;
    CREATE TABLE TEST AS SELECT RPAD('X',100,'X') X, (CASE WHEN MOD(ROWNUM,10)=0 THEN CAST(NULL AS NUMBER) ELSE MOD(ROWNUM,10) END) Y, ROWNUM Z FROM DUAL CONNECT BY LEVEL<=10000;
    SELECT Y, COUNT(*) FROM TEST GROUP BY Y ORDER BY 1;

    select * from (select z from test where y=1 order by z) where rownum <= 10;
    select * from (select z from test where y is null order by z) where rownum <= 10;So there are 1000 records per Y column value:

    Hi,
    Null values are not stored in the index, so if you use "col is null" as a predicate there is no entry on the index and so no pointer to the actual row hence the full table scan.
    If you query USER_INDEXES and look in the DISTINCT_KEYS column for your index, you should see that there are only 9 keys.
    e.g.
    SQL> create table nt as
      2  select decode(m, 0, null, m) v from
      3* (select mod(level,10) m from dual connect by level <= 10000)
    SQL> /
    Table created.
    SQL> select v, count(*) from nt group by v order by v ;
    V                                          COUNT(*)
    1                                              1000
    2                                              1000
    3                                              1000
    4                                              1000
    5                                              1000
    6                                              1000
    7                                              1000

    SQL> create index nt_i on nt (v) ;

  • Why does Bookmarks take several seconds to respond after I move a bookmark when Sync enabled, but not when Sync is disabled?

    With FFox open and Sync enabled, moving a bookmark, either in the Bookmark sidebar or in 'Show All Bookmarks' window, to another location - for example: dragging a bookmark from "Unsorted" to another location in Bookmarks - causes a delay during which time the Bookmark list seems to freeze and bookmarks can't be moved, selected, etc. The delay lasts for several seconds, and is longer on slower/older machines. If I attempt to move a bookmark (or folder) during the delay, it will move in unexpected ways once Bookmarks unfreezes as locations within the Bookmark list have changed.
    With Sync disabled, bookmarks can be moved/selected/etc. without any delay.
    Systems Tested: [Note: All systems had the most current version of FFox available for them.]
    MacBook Pro 26 (2014) w/OSX 10.9
    IBM ThinkPad T41x (2010) w/XPpro
    Macbook Pro 266 (2009) w/OSX 10.6
    IBM ThinkPad T61x (2008) w/XPpro
    Mac Mini (2008) w/OSX 10.6
    Mac Mini (2007) w/OSX 10.5
    Macbook Pro 233 (2007) w/Ubuntu v14
    ASUS P1AH (2006) w/Ubuntu 12
    My main computer is the Macbook Pro 266, and I noticed this behavior: FFox v36 bookmark delay with Sync enabled is about the same as v35, v35 was worse (longer delay) than v34, v34 was better (less delay) than v33, v33 was better than v32, V32 was much worse than v31, v31 was much worse (Sync unusueable) than v30, v30 was much worse (Sync unusueable) than v29, v29 delay made Sync unusueable.

    Currently 664 [exported from FFox Bookmarks to URL Manager for the count] abut never more than 4000: beyond 4000 bookmarks and FFoxs' Bookmarks respond slowly even without Sync active. I currently have 5 computer with FFox set up to use Sync. While I don't expect FFox to manage a huge collection of URLs, I would be nice to be able to access a Bookmark collection of 6000 to 8000 without noticeable delay. It's a simple text file after all, and as I'm only effecting one URL, why so long to update?
    fyi: URL Manager tells me that I've amassed about 300,000 bookmarks, some from the late 90's which I still use for research.

    hi vijaysampath, first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a possible solution depends on different factors:
    * what is the '''error code''' shown under ''technical details'' on the error page?
    in case the error code equals ''sec_error_unknown_issuer'', please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page in order to inspect the certificate like it is shown on the screenshot attached:
    * which '''issuer information''' does the certificate contain?
    please report back with those two pieces of information. thank you!

  • I just downloaded the new version of Firefox and now every site I used to use such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube show "This Connection Is Untrusted"

    I just downloaded the new version of Firefox and now every site I used to use such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube show "This Connection Is Untrusted". Even when I do accept the risks the site no longer looks the way it's looked for years. Twitter doesn't even give me the option to accept the risks at all and shows this error (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer). I've tried resetting Firefox, I've checked the time and date, and I've removed and added Firefox to see if that would work. Nothing seems to be working so I can see the sites the way they normally would be instead of "coded". Can anybody help me please?!!! Thanks

    ok, unfortunately the fiddler2.com issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

    afterwards, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

  • How to disable "This Connection is Untrusted" warning in firefox using shell or perl script running on Linux Platform

    We have QA automation jobs that invoke user interface tests in Firefox running on a virtual Linux host.
    My tests perform regression, but I'm held up because of the Firefox This Connection is Untrusted warning.
    My current requirement is to ignore this connection untrusted warning, which comes up when accessing an HTTPS website and i want this to be disabled through either a shell or a Perl script.
    I can do this manually using the steps below, but this will not work for my current problem since the virtual Linux hosts are created dynamically on submission of automation jobs.
    Go to Tools > Options > Advanced "Tab"(?) > Encryption Tab Click the "Validation" button, and uncheck the checkbox for checking validity.
    Is there any Perl or shell script that disables this certificate warning?

    There might be an add on to accomplish this:
    *[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/skip-cert-error/ Skip Cert Error]
    However if we cannot find a solution there might be another place for support:

  • Why am I getting the message 'this connection is untrusted' when trying to access iCloud through Mozilla Firefox?

    I use Mozilla Firefox and have never had difficulty before, but today I got 'this connection is untrusted' when trying to open iCloud.  There was no option to override this.
    The Technical Details said:
    www.icloud.com uses an invalid security certificate.
    The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.
    (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
    Help!

    Clear your history/cookies and stuff like that on Firefox and then retry. If that doesn't work try restarting the computer or accessing iCloud via Google Chrome or Safari for the time being. I feel your pain, I love Firefox.

  • I am getting "this connection is untrusted" error messages from Firefox for Desktop when I try to log into certain websites, such as Facebook. Why?

    I get this error message "this connection is untrusted" after I re-installed Windows Vista and all my programs. This happened before but after reformatting my computer everything was good. Why am I getting this? Could it be a virus of some sort? It happens when I use Windows Internet Explorer as well....

    Hi,
    Please check the time/date on the PC. The ideal setting would be to '''Automatically synchronize ...''' in Date and Time > Internet Time.

    '''This Connection is Untrusted''' is sometimes caused because the
