Firefox title bar caption

Firefox version: 30.0
I need to set the Firefox title bar to "Anonymous Browsing".
I've seen many add-ons that can do this on a per-user basis, but I am working with a multi-tenant corporate environment and need to lock it down globally.
I'm aware of the mozilla.cfg file and have been searching the about:config page for options that would allow me to do this, but have come up empty-handed. Additionally, any documentation I've found online has been relevant to much, much older versions of Firefox (3.0, for example).
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Do you mean to start Firefox automatically in Private Browsing mode?
Note that Firefox doesn't show that on the title bar if you run Firefox in permanent PB mode.
mozilla.cfg:
<pre>pref("browser.privatebrowsing.autostart", true);</pre>
These functions can be used in the mozilla.cfg file:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

  • Title Bar Captions in OHJ

Though a window title [<wintype><title>] is specified in our .hs files it is not used as the title bar caption when our OHJ is opened docked. Instead the caption of 'Help Navigator' is used.
If the OHJ is opened undocked the Help Navigator has a title bar caption of 'Help Navigator' and the Help Topic has a title bar caption as specified in our .hs file. If the Navigator and topic are subsequently docked the title bar caption reverts to 'Help Navigator'.
Is there any way to specify a title bar caption to be used when OHJ is docked thereby replacing the 'Help Navigator' caption?
    Thanks in advance,
    Graham.

Sorry, Graham. There's no way to change the title from Help Navigator for the situation you've described.

  • Firefox title bar disappears

The title bar , minimize, and close window disappear.
I found some help but it does not work for very long.

Your Firefox might be stuck in full screen mode. You can use the F11 function key to switch between full screen and normal display modes. If you do not have an F11 key, sliding the mouse pointer to the top of the screen and right-clicking should display a short menu to exit full screen mode.
    Is that it?

  • How do I get rid of title bar?

When I installed Firefox on my new Windows 8 computer, I got a style in which there is no title bar. The tabs are up there with an orange Firefox button at the left. It provides access to the menu items. I like that. However, I wanted the function of my profile on a Windows 7 machine. (Lots of stuff in there.) When I installed that, it put me back in a situation where there is a title bar unnecessarily wasting some vertical screen space. In that Windows 7 profile, I was using the Tiny Menu addon to compress the menu items onto a single button. It is on a line with the Location bar and the search bar. The tabs are below. I cannot figure out what to tweak in the profile from my Windows 7 to get to the appearance I like in the Windows 8 install.
I tried the advice here: http://www.squidoo.com/hide-firefox-title-bar
I don't see any Tabs on Top setting, and browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar is already set to true. When I disable the Menu toolbar, the title bar goes away and the tabs are up there with the orange Firefox button; however, I lose the Location bar and the search bar altogether.
There's got to be a way to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

Something very weird is going on. I achieved a brief success as follows:
Not sure exactly what did it. With Task Bar Plus, Stylish, All-in-One Sidebar, and the bookmarks toolbar disabled, I did do that reset to defaults for the toolbar. I had skipped that earlier because I did not see how it was going to affect the tab bar and my toolbar configuration (with All-in-one Side Bar) is fairly complicated. However, I was getting desperate. It still did not solve the problem directly. However, when I enabled the Navigation Bar, success! The odd thing is that I had fiddled with enabling the Navigation bar on multiple previous occasions with no luck; so I am still not sure exactly what happened. I thought the problem was solved. But it was not:
Then I started experimenting to figure out what had been causing it. I enabled all those things (except the bookmarks bar). It stopped working. I disabled Tab Mix Plus, and I got a brief success at the first instant when I enabled the Navigation bar. Then I restarted Firefox, and it did not work then or after any subsequent restart. I have gone so far as to restart in safe mode with all addons disabled. It still does not work right. I go back to the profile from the Windows 8 install, and all is well again.
What is going on? I may have to give up and further develop the profile from Windows 8 to come closer to the function I had in Windows 7; but I dread that process.

  • Unwanted title bar in full screen mode

(Netbook, Windows 7 Starter, Firefox 3.6.13)
When using full screen mode the Firefox title bar "usually" remains atop the page instead of retreating above as before. This occurs although the mouse position is not near the top of a web page. I've not discovered a pattern as to when the title bar remains and when it "retreats," as preferred.
Neither Restart nor cold Reboot made an apparent difference.
Example: title bar on this web page now shows single line on blue background with the Firefox icon followed by "Ask a Question | Firefox Support - Mozilla Firefox".
''fixed the formatting of this posting''

Are you really entering the FullScreen mode using the '''F11''' key?
Or, are you merely hiding all the Toolbars?

  • My Title Bar is suddenly appearing in Chinese characters, what happened (and how do I fix it)?

The title bar on my browser is now appearing with some type of chinese characters. Nothing else has changed, but I would like to know what happended, why, and how to return my system to normal

That issue is caused by an extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and not by a plugin.
If you see CJK (Chinese/Japanese) characters on the Firefox title bar or the Windows Taskbar then that can happen if Firefox switches to UTF-16 encoding for some reason.
The ''RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin'' extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) has been reported to cause that issue.
Be sure not to get confused with the RealPlayer plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) that plays media files.
The extension adds some extra features like saving media files.
You can disable/remove the ''RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin'' extension in the RealPlayer Preferences (RealPlayer: Tools > Preferences > Download & Recording)

  • Firefox 4 beta 1/2 dont have the window title bar

If i choose to hide the menu bar, I can see the orange "firefox" button but there is no windows title bar that has the min, max, and X buttons. Like this title bar is cleanly chopped off.
However running firefox as admin doesn't have this issue.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

    Are you using a persona?
See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=574833 - Installing Persona theme completely covers the caption buttons

  • After installing the add-on compatability add-on, Firefox will no longer load web pages or allow me to enter anything in the address bar and has added an additional title bar at the top of the page.

When I open Firefox now, instead of opening up the standard Mozilla start page, it simply opens up a new tab page. Typing in the address bar and then hitting enter results in the address bar being cleared and the page staying the same. Attempting to send feedback via the add-on just opens another new, blank tab. For some odd reason, the Windows title bar has also come back above the orange Firefox button and the tabs.
I am unable to access the add-ons page to uninstall the add-on compatibility add-on to see if that will solve my problem and I have tried uninstalling the beta and reinstalling it, but the problem still remains.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Firefox 5.0 on Windows 7 jumpy, window title bar pops in and out, window resizes.

Question pretty much sums it up. Windows Title bar keeps flitting in and out, causing screen to jump. Concurrently, right and bottom window margins resize a bit smaller. No apparent rhyme or reason, but leads to a lot of bad mouse clicks. Unrelated to whether the bookmarks tab is open or not. Happens in safemode as well, and my theme is the default. I don't want a plug-in to fix this, I want Firefox 5.0 to behave properly on its own.

The Views menu is only meant to view bookmarks in a different sort order (hence the name of that menu). It doesn't have any lasting effects.

  • Updated to Firefox 4b11, now I have two title bars!

I just upgraded Firefox 4, from beta 10 to beta 11, and now it's showing both the "Windows XP" title bar and the "Windows Vista" / "Windows 7" title bar.
    Here's a screenshot:
    http://i.imgur.com/araTf.png
Not that it bothers me but it looks weird :)
UPDATE: Solved it by hiding the menu bar and showing it again, via right click on the menu bar. Now it shows just one depending on whether the menu bar is hidden or not, but that first-time bug needs to be fixed :P

I have the tab bar always showing, and I had to open a new tab first before walenzack's fix worked.
edit: It looks like this problem is due to either a corrupted user profile, or Firebug. The version of Firebug I'm using is "firebug-1.7X.0a10.xpi" and that seems to break everything. Using an older version, a8, seems to be fine.

  • How to rotate caption (title) bar of CDockablePane

    Dear All
Is that possible to   rotate caption (title) bar of CDockablePane when it dock.
I mean to say is that possible to put title bar in the left side or right side with rotate text.
if possible could some one tell me how.
    Thanks in Advance.

I think it is hard to rotate caption (title) bar of CDockablePane. Create a non-caption dialog and custom a area as the left caption bar. And You need to make the dialog dockable.

  • I want to show the caption in the title bar if the tab bar is hidden.

Is there any addon or configuration setting that i can use to show the caption in the title bar instead of the tab? I want to do this because i have set my browser to hid the tab bar if only one tab is opened.

That is what i asked for but is not exactly what i want. I do not want the menubar to be shown at all. I want the tabs in the titlebar (the default behaviour). I want, when only one tab is open to hide the tabbar (this i have already succeded) and to show the caption in the titlebar.

  • Firefox hangs when starting, Firefox window title bar says "Firefox (not responding)". (was: Firefox crashes)

Firefox hangs when starting, during session restore. Uninstalled then installed new Firefix. Same problem. Firefox window title bar says "Firefox (not responding)". It just hangs, won;t display even one page. What to do? Tried -safe-mode, smae result.

I keep too many tabs open and whilst trying to download a pdf file Firefox 8.01 hung and when I restarted it the Embarrassing page opened. I knew which tab I needed to delete but as soon as I tried to navigate to the errant tab it said "Not Responding" and nothing I could do would make it respond. I tried command line opening in safe mode and the same thing happened.
I have read the other posts but cannot send a crash dump as it is "Not Responding" and does not get far enough to crash.

  • Why do the title bar on Firefox and taskbar on Windows 7 leave distorted image when a list of bookmark folders crosses either one ?

I use lots of folders in my bookmarks list. I have noticed that with both AMD and Nvidia based video cards, that if I am using a folder in my bookmarks list that has lots and lots of bookmarks, the list of bookmarks will cross both the title bar area of Firefox and the taskbar on Windows 7 at the bottom. When this happens, both the title bar on Firefox versions 8-10 and the taskbar at the bottom will leave images from the bookmark list that don't go away (unless I use F11 view fullscreen to clear away the image and restore to normal ). If I am using a Matrox video card, this doesn't happen. Why is this?

    Hey cor-el,
Wow. That did it. You are a genius! Thank you, thank you. It's very important that I be able to use the folders with saved bookmarks feature for my business which I rely on daily.
I unchecked the "use hardware acceleration feature" where you said it was in Firefox 9 browser and it resolved the problem immediately. I am using an Nvidia GS8400 video card. I was having the same problem on the new ATI/AMD video cards too (haven't tested though on ATI computer yet). My Matrox M9120 doesn't do that at all though. Do you have any idea why that is ? Is it a software conflict between Nvidia or AMD drivers and Firefox?
One more question on your response solution, why do you recommend upgrading to current video card drivers since un-checking the "hardware acceleration" feature in Firefox works? The video card drivers on the disc that came with the card I am using were supplied by the manufacturer and released last year. Shouldn't that be good enough?

  • Upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (Mac) and can now no longer minimize browser window by double-clicking title bar. Please advise!

I recently upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (Mac) and can now no longer my minimize browser window into the dock by double-clicking the title bar. I need to be able to use this feature. Please advise!

I just upgraded to iTunes 8.0.1.11 too (XP) and am seeing the same behavior. The little mini controller in the taskbar no longer works. If you double click the icon in the system tray, you can restore the iTunes window.
On the Advanced preferences tab, select both the "Show iTunes icon in system tray"
and the "Minimize iTunes window to system tray" checkboxes. If only the "Show iTunes icon in system tray" is selected, you will not be able to restore the iTunes window and will have to use the task manager to kill iTunes.
Hope this gets fixed, I found the task bar controller very handy for pausing/starting/volume control/etc.
