Firmware 7.4.1: Unable to log to authenticated shares (error 1203)

Current setup:
Windows XP Professional SP3;
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) with Gigabit;
AirPort Extreme Firmware v7.4.1;
AirPort Base Station Agent v5.4.1;
AirPort Disk sharing enabled as "With Accounts";
USB attached disk formatted on Leopard as UFS+ with Journal, no case sensitive;
Workgroup "WORKGROUP" set on both AirPort Extreme and Windows machines;
Usernames with and without whitespaces;
The above is my setup and it was all working fine until updated AirPort firmware from 7.3.2 to 7.4.1. After the firmware update, I lost access to my authenticated shared volumes on the AirPort Extreme. I was able to connect only as a Guest. For authenticated access, I receive the Windows dialog "Unknown user, incorrect password, or login is disabled. Please retype the login information or contact the disk's administrator (1203).".
Tried to update AirPort Base Station Agent from 5.2 to 5.4.1, didn't worked.
While on 7.4.1, tried to create a new user. Used this new user to connect, it didn't. Tried any of old users, didn't worked.
Restored back AirPort Extreme v7.3.2, authenticated access was reinstated.
null

Tries done to fix this issue:
Power cycling: Not Fixed
Reseting configuration after updating to 7.4.1: Not Fixed
Reseting configuration before updating to 7.4.1: Not Fixed
So far, only fixed by leaving 7.3.2 running.
What a shame Apple, what a shame...

  • Any new user creation gets: unable to log into user account error

Sort of reposting from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2795507&tstart=0 as that initial question was answered.
Anyway, running an xserve managing all network accounts (only local accounts are a local admin on each system). DNS checks out and all current users can log in fine. However, it seems any new user I create keeps getting this wonderfully ambiguous error. I've tried Guest (but figured it probably interfered with the Guest Account), Student (but thought it might be interfering with a group of the same name), Guest Student, and Temp User.

Just making sure, you have selected the home location, and then actually pressed the "Create home" button? I have missed it few times and then wondered why it is not working. Then check the home folder location that it is actually there and created successfully.
    Yeah, and then hit Save!

  • Unable to log into App World - Error message 80002

I am unable to access my app world. I have uninstalled and re-installed the app to no avail. I get the error message " The software upgrade was interrupted. Please try again."
When I click cancel, it says "BlackBerry Identity installation failed. Please try again later (80002). I know that I am in a country and carrier that supports BB. So not sure what the issue is. I also have v5.0.0.862 on my phone

Seems my BB has a mind of it's own. The removing/reinstalling didn't solve the problem.
Do you mean removing/reinstalling the Identity App on your BB? Or AppWorld itself? Or both perhaps? One of the above KBs is specifically about removing/reinstalling the Identity App...and that's the one that normally cures this.
    Mangoe wrote:
I tried following your "Homescreen > Options > Device > BlackBerry ID" but I don't have a selection for "Device". is there another option? I have the Bold 9700
Oh...that's probably because you are way behind, still on OS 5 on your BB...Rogers currently supports 6.0.0.666, and the menu structures are totally different moving from OS5 to 6, and again to 7 (though I don't think your BB model can support OS7). For OS 5, I think the command string is Homescreen > Options > BlackBerry ID
    Mangoe wrote:
How do I access BBID on my pc? Not sure if that will help, but would love to try...lol! Anything at this point.
From a PC/browser, go to AppWorld (www.blackberry.com/appworld). At the top right will be a "Sign In" link...click that and it takes you to the BB ID login.

I have the same IT policy on my phone as i did when it got the phone. it has never prevented me from accessing AppWorld, or anything else for that matter. Not sure how to tell if "Stealth" is getting in the way.
So, your BB is part of a BES environment? It may be that AppWorld worked OK before, but that there's something in the IT Policy that is blocking this update...you should check with your BES admins to be sure.
As for "stealth"...that's the whole point...a stealth IT Policy cannot be seen, other than it's effect on trying to do things on the BB. "Normal" IT Policies can be seen:

  • Unable to log into SA540 as any user

This is the 2nd time that this has happened. I am unable to log in my SA540 as any user including the Admin either through the SSL VPN portal or directly connected to the box. The fix is to reboot the device and it starts working but I as I am not on-site all the time, this is a problem. I recently upgraded the firmware to 1.1.65.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, how can it be resolved?
    Thanks

    HI Mark,
Could you please collect the log when this happens again.

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

  • Unable to log in to the user account [username] at this time

My Powerbook G4 is running Mac OS X 10.4.11
    Processor: 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4
    Memory: 768 MB DDR SDRAM
    Startup Disk Macintosh HD
    Serial # 4H511OAJRJ5
    Capacity 74.4 GB
    Available: 2.3 GB
My problems began when I had a warning message that read something like, “your startup disk is getting full. Delete some files”
Around the same time my battery was showing signs of being spent (wouldn’t take a full charge) and would shutdown my powerbook in the middle of operation. I replaced the battery within 12 hours, rebooted, and everything seemed normal; I could log in and access all programs, files, photos, music, etc. The error message reappeared to deletes some files. I ran TechTool Deluxes and it suggested repairing my Volume Directory. There were a few suggestions in green and one in red. I accepted the ones in green and made the changes. It reopened TechTool and ran again, this time everything showed up as a “red” (drastic) directory change. I did not accept. I shut down. I rebooted, and that is when my heart sank.
My account log in screen appeared (I have my master account and a “test” account available) and I entered my log in password. After several moments, the message “You are unable to log in to the user account [username] at this time.” I can log in to my “test” account but I have not been able to access any of my files from that account. Also, my Test account appears to be running Panther instead of Tiger; could that be? Anyway, I read some similar problem posts here and was hopeful that DiskWarrior could help restore me. I purchased and ran it successfully (at least DiskWarrior said it was a success) but I still have the same results.
I tried to access both my caches folder and my Desktop folder from my “test” account, but these are the error messages I received:
The folder “Caches” could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges.
The folder “Desktop” could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges.
I was shocked to see my Available space was only 2.5 GB. I don’t know how that can be right.
I’m open to anything to retrieve my files – Any suggestions?

You need to delete some file not try to repair the disk volume. but anyway...

You need to develop a full backup plan. Get an external hd and backup to it.

    Why?

I buy an external disk with both fireware & usb and use carbon copy cloner to duplicate you hd.
run batcmd from an admin account to let you change permissions.
From an administrator account enable root & be careful. This will let you look at any file on the system & delete everything!!!
    Get a new admin id.
"BatChmod is a Cocoa utility for manipulating file and folder privileges in Mac OS X. It allows the manipulation of ownership as well as the privileges associated to the Owner, Group or others."
    http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/Welcome.html
As an aside, I just noticed that the button to "apply to all enclosed items' is greyed out. I started checking other folders and best I can tell, all folders on my startup volume will not allow me to apply any permission changes to all enclosed items. Think this might have something to do with the alias issue?
I noticed that my "apply to all enclosed items' button is greyed out too. I use BatChmod fps instead.
Get the Mac to set up an additional administrative account. You can then change the password on your old account.
Start with your computer power off. Hold down command-s. Power on your computer.
    Type in the following:
The first two commands will depend on your release of Mac OS X. Look at what is typed out in the console to determine the exact format.
    # Type the follow two instructions to access the startup disk in read/write. Press return after each command.
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    cd /var/db
    pwd
#List all files. The l is a lower case L.
    ls -a
#The move command acts as a rename command in this format.
    mv -i .applesetupdone .applesetupdone.old
    reboot
Once you've done that the computer reboots and it's like the first time you used the machine. Your old accounts are all safe. From there you just change all other account passwords in the account preferences!!

  • Unable to "Log and Capture" with Canopus

    Hello all -
    Recently bought a Canopus ADVC700.
Connected it to my Apple G4, running FCP HD 4.5 and to my Sony DSR20 VTR.
Audio and video can be caputred using the "Capture Now" method, but I'm unable to log shots and then capture.
Tried several work-araounds, using "Easy Setup" and "Capture Settings", but I have zero control on the Sony deck.
    What am I doing wrong?
I've contacted Canopus and awaiting a reply...also checked their website to see if I needed a driver (which there appairently isn't one).
    Thanks!

I kinda think you've configured this all wrong and Canopus is now part of Thomson/Grass Valley so I'm not at all surprised that the support on this product is a little, umm, lacking.
I would try this to start and then start on other variations if it don't work.
    DSR20 - Firewire - ADVC700
    DSR20 - RS422 Dsub cable - ADVC700
    ADVC700 - Firewire - Apple G4
FCP's capture/control configs should be set to firewire, logically.
DSR20 control menu should be set to rs422
ADVC700 should be set to rs422 control
Thinking through what you have going on this sounds logical to me.
I don't understand why you're using S-video between the DSR20 and the ADVC700. You're undergoing a conversion of DV25 to analog if you use S-Video as well as the bnc composite spigot and then converting back to DV25 in the 700.
Do you need a frame sync or just RS422 control?
Is there any reason you can't use a [Keyspan 28X|http://www.keyspan.com/products/usa28xg> with an [Addenda|http://www.addenda-elect.com/product.htm] Mac to RS422 cable? I used this set up for a long time on my G4 and it worked great with my JVC vtr.

  • Unable to log in to the user account (name) at this time

I get this error message when I try to log-in in my main admin account. And this is not a lost password issue I know im typing the write password because when I type a wrong one the box shakes when I type the right one it gives me that message.
I tried alot of stuff to gain access to it but I cannot, the only thing that I can do is go in as root user and extract the files that I had in there, but I have no physcial access to the login it self, I started making a different account name for it but I dont want to lose all my prefrenses although I think the only thing that is making it this way is File Vault (its swtiched on for the locked out account)
    Any thoughts?

I'm also getting the dreaded "You are unable to log in to the user account __ at this time" but believe this happened when I inadvertently tuned off an external hard drive without ejecting it first. At first, I thought it was a File Vault problem, but my user.sparseimage file is still there and accessible once I changed the permissions to those of another user account.
What I have come to believe, based on other postings I have read on this topic, at least in my case, is that I must have corrupted the logged in user on the netinfo file. The solutions I've seen so far for fixing the netinfo file seem pretty complicated, though I do have a backup of that file.
I have yet to decide whether the netinfo problem is easily fixable or if I would better employ my time moving my iTunes and iPhoto files off that sparse image and into another user account. I'm open to suggestions.

  • Unable to Log In iChat

    Hi,
So I have had a macbook for a while and quite a bit ago I had a problem with iChat. It was unable to log me in one day, it would constantly try and try until I got the error that I had attempted too many times. I'm not quite sure what is wrong. I called support and they couldn't help me diagnose it so I ended up downloading Adium. Well I just recently bought a Mac Book Pro and I transfered everything over to the Pro, and I am still having the same error with iChat. I'm guessing it's some where in my settings but I can't find it. My log in and pass word are correct...
    Please help
    Sylv

    Hi
Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
    Set the port to 443.
    Log back in again.

  • Unable to log in Azure Linux VM using username and password

I tried creating a Linux VM (Cent OS based) using PowerShell. I was able to provision the VM, but when i tried to log in using the credentials in the VM using Putty,  I get an error message stating "No supported authentication methods available

Can you please let me know how to resolve this issue?

    Try this
azure vm create customdatalinux0b11de9248dd4d87b18621318e037d37__RightImage-CentOS-7.0-x64-v14.2 username password -l "West US"By default, linux VM on Azure has Port 22 opened so you don't have to configure those unless you want to change port. Also loose | and '' in commands.
Creating new VM creates new service unless you want to use one already created.

  • Unable to log in user at this time / opening up all ports

I've got a lion 10.7.3 server and several Lion client boxes all attached via ethernet to an airport extreme.
I've got a bona fide certificate that seems to have installed correctly, and the client is talking to the open directory server
Without fail, I get a message "unable to log in the user at this time" on each of the clients...
UNLESS I open up all ports on my airport extreme to the server.
I've tried opening individual ports for AFP, profile manager (1640, 2195), open ldap (389, 636) and even kerberos (88).  Even with all of these open, it still doesn't work.  I have to open up everything to get the error to go away - then the users can log in just fine.
Note, I'm logging in from the local network to a server on the local network, so this just seems bizarre.
I don't have the logs on this computer, but I recall that the error was occurring when it tried to mount the home directory, after authentication.  It was an error 64 from homedirmounter (if memory serves).
Any thoughts on what port I'm missing that might be causing the error?

3659 is the SASL port used by the password server, so that makes a certain amount of sense.
However, I still maintain that if your network is configured in the way I'd expect, the base station shouldn't be relevant. The clients should be connecting on a LAN-to-LAN basis so the firewall/filter in the base station shoudn't be in play.
Given what you say, I suspect you've misconfigured your network - probably at the DNS level and you're not running private DNS for your LAN, which would force the clients to connect through the public address. The risks and downside of this approach are numerous - not least of which is the fact that you ARE exposing your server to the general public (including all the less-than-honourable people out there). On that basis there is a risk and i'd look to close that soonest.
You should have a private DNS server running on your LAN that knows the private network addresses of your servers and clients. In this way any client should be able to connect directly to the server's LAN address, bypassing the public interface on your base station. I suspect that if you perform a DNS lookup on your server's hostname you get back its public address, right?

  • "Unable to log in to the user account"

I'm having a problem I'm hoping one of you may have come up against and
solved. We have two Mac OSX.4 servers - one a login server, the other
contains the student Homes folders. Now when a student who has an account
from last year logs in, a message says "You are unable to log in to the user
account "username" at this time. Logging in to the account failed because an
error occurred. The home folder for the user account is located on an AFP or
SMB server. Contact your system administrator for help."
It seems there is a problem with the hand off from the login server to the
data server. I can connect to the data server through Connect to Server
while logged on as admin, so the server is accessible on line. I double-checked the Sharing info of the shared points and they are set correctly. Also, when I run Server Monitor, the stats summary for both servers says "waiting for response."
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Mike
Server Monitor is an application that monitors XServe hardware providing feedback for the administrator. It has nothing to do with the Server Operating System. If your trying to use it on anything other than an XServe all you'll see is "Waiting for Response" all day long.
If your hardware is an XServe then you need to use either localhost or the server's loopback address (127.0.0.1) in the name field followed by the default admin's account's password.
+"The home folder for the user account is located on an AFP or+
+SMB server. Contact your system administrator for help"+
This error is usually down to (but not always) a DNS/DHCP issue or some other obscure network related issue affecting DNS. What does the logs say server and client side when the log-in fails?
Its possible the affected user no longer exists as a principal? Does the same thing happen to this user regardless of which client computer is used? You could search the schema using dscl from a client to see if the affected user is listed in the LDAP database? Alternatively you could issue:
    sudo kadmin.local -q list_principals
On the server itself. If the affected user is not listed but exists in WGM then review the password type. It's possible its been set to Crypt? You could delete the user and re-create the account again and re-locating the home folder and trying again. It's also possible the student's home folder has developed a problem? Does the 'jiggle' and error occur immediately or after a slight delay? Do you have a strict Password Policy in place? Sometimes problems can develop with the Password Policy (it does get logged) that affects single accounts only.
You could try and create a completely new account and home for the affected user. Transfer the data from the old home propagate default permissions and go for a log-in again. Does it work now?
I'm assuming the two servers in question are in a Master/Replica relationship?

  • Unable to Log In After Software Update

    Hello:
After running Software Update, I am unable to log in.
I found the following support article:
Mac OS X 10.5: Unable to log in after an upgrade install
    Article: TS1543
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1543?viewlocale=en_US
However, upon step 8 of the instructions, the following error appears:
    delete Invalid Path
    <dscl_cmd> DS Error: -14009 (eUnknownNodeName)
This is actually after an update (not an "upgrade"), so I'm not even sure these are the appropriate steps.
This is the second time that I have been unable to log in after an update. The first time, I attempted to reset the password with the installation DVD; however, this resulted in "No LDAP Master" errors and I installed Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Server on a second internal drive and configured everything again. After setting everything up on the second install, I was going to reformat the first boot drive. Unfortunately, I'm just back to where I started after running the updates. I'm not sure if having two volumes with Mac OS X Server installed makes a difference in the instructions in the article mentioned above or not.
Another question: Is resetting the password with the installer DVD the same as using the Single User approach ("launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist", "ls /Users", then "dscl . -delete /Users/username AuthenticationAuthority")?
If so, I'll just do that; however, I am hoping that the Single User approach might somehow avoid "No LDAP Master" errors again.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
