Firmware bug? No Connect/Disconnect button on "Manual" PPPoE option

Hi,
To the best of my knowledge this is a firmware bug.
There is no Connect/Disconnect option when choosing "Manual" from the PPPoE settings.

Is there an official way to report such a bug?

I reported the bug and got this response:
This is a follow up to Bug ID# 6286922. After further investigation it has been determined that this is a known issue, which is currently being investigated by engineering. This issue has been filed in our bug database under the original Bug ID# 5847755. The original bug number being used to track this duplicate issue can be found in the State column, in this format: Duplicate/OrigBug#.

How do I connect to the internet with the "Manual" PPPoE option?

I have a Time Capsule and a PC with Windows XP SP3, Airport utility 5.3.2
I connect to the ISP using a secureID - a password that changes every minute.
This means that if I use the "Always On" option, then once the connection breaks the time capsule will retry with an invalid password and lock me out.
I therefore tried the "Manual" option, but there is no "CONNECT" button associated with it. When I choose "Always On", the time capsule connects to the internet. When I choose "Manual" the time capsule has a happy green light, but I don't have internet.
Did somebody forget to put a "connect" button somewhere, or is it just hiding?
Any help appreciated.

Cannot connect to the Internet via PPPoE in Windows manually?

In Lion there is a little triangle after the Wi-Fi name (SSID) that can connect and disconnect the Internet via PPPoE. But how to do the same thing in Windows? Is it possible?
And there is also a bug in Mac OS --- if you choose to show the connected time, it will freeze later and the little triangle for connecting is also disappeared! So you have to refresh it to recall that little triangle again.

I have the exact same problem and my home network have a max capacity of 250 devices, which Im not any way near off.
I have one pc connected via ethernet, so I always have an option of connecting if WIFI fails.
I have one iMAC connecyed via WIFI
I have one Apple notebook conenected via WIFI
I have one Nintendo Wii connected via WIFI
And, I have one Apple TV which will not connect while other devices are connected. If I disconnect the notebook and iMAC the Apple TV works fine.

Firmware bug: CPU1 tried to use APIC500

Every time I want to use the computer (HP Compaq 6005 Pro small form factor) I have to switch it on and then push the reset button after booting up to a black screen.
I once got :

Any ideas?
Is Linux reporting a real firmware fault or is it wrong?

I understand you are getting the [Firmware Bug]: cpu 1, try to use APIC500 (LVT offset 0) for vector 0x400, but the register is already in use for vector 0xf9 on another cpu. I have looked on the Ubuntu site and under the Bugs section I found the bug [Firmware Bug]: cpu 1, try to use APIC500 (LVT offset 0) for vector 0x400, but the register is alrea... so it looks to be a geniune error and is being addressed on the Ubuntu site.

Firmware bugs

Hello!
I found three firmware bugs and already informed the hotline about one of them in january. It is not fixed in firmware 1.1, so I am posting here.
The first, already reported, bug can be seen with German language setting when configuring the alarm clock. The dialog where you can enter the desired alarm time shows am/pm time although the other time options change to 24h display when setting the iPod to German.
The second bug is inside the game Solitair. Very often you can't move a card to the "finished" stack, although it matches perfectly. For example you can move a red four on top of a black five, but not on top of the (matching) red three at the top.
The third bug is inside the game Brick. I noticed sometimes the ball does not get faster over time which makes it very easy to go through all levels. In fact after some time the first level re-appears.
The following facts are annoying, but I don't know if I can call them bugs.
a) My computer very often loses the connection to the iPod while transferring (large) files. I am using opensource software (Linux, gtkpod), so it might be something to preven t users from using non-supported hardware.
The first message indicating the problem is
"Nov 26 13:38:13 carsten-otto usb 1-3: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 71" just after the transfer stopped. This message repeats some times and then everything gets messy.
b) Videos stop playing with sound after some time. I did not try with official videos yet, but my self built videos do meet the requirements and should play. After about ten seconds the video stops for about 5 seconds and then starts again, but from now on without sound. Whenever I seek to a new position I can have sound again, but only for another ten seconds.
Please tell me how to solve the problems and/or how to contact Apple so that they can help me.

The Video issue I am having, and I believe all people are having with 5th Generation Video IPODS. I've installed probably 8 or 9 programs over the last two days, hoping to find one that doesn't screw up the video/sound after a few minutes.
It's interesting because none of the Video Podcasts seem to have a problem running on it, but some information regarding how this is working for Video Podcasts but nothing else is missing. I would hope a firmware upgrade is in the works to fix this problem, because if not I anticipate a large recall, and I think this would be bad publicity for Apple, at a time when many competitors are biting at the bit to take a share out of the market.

How can i connect/disconnect PPPoe via Ethernet connected time capsule??

I connected the time capsule with Ethernet.
I set connect to PPPoe with "Manual" option.
I could easily control "Connect/disconnect" pppoe using AIRPORT (in the menu bar). But I could not find a way to "Connect/disconnect" via ETHERNET. (No ETHERNET icon on menu bar anyway...)
Could somebody help? THanks a lot.

Have you consulted the printer's user manual for setting it up as an Ethernet printer? You will also need to delete your current printer in Print & Fax and when you Add the printer you will need to do so as an Ethernet printer. This means you will add it either as an IP printer using either LPR or IPP protocol - depends on what the printer supports. An Ethernet device requires an IP address that is either manually configured on the device or derived if the device supports DHCP. If the former then the IP address you configure for the printer must be within the range of IP addresses used by your router (typically 10.0.1.2-10.0.1.199 for an AEBS/TC.) This should be covered in the printer's user manual.

IPod Firmware bug?

Hi.
I just bought an iPod Nano 2Gb Black about 1 month ago.
But unfortunally it has started to "hang" at the star ratigng system. If i go to that option, i can't make i disappear. :S I keeps showing that screen even though i push the center button.
Is this a Firmware bug, and how do I fix it? It's ******* me off that an only 1 month old iPod already screwed me like that.

This is a known bug with some iPod models, including yours.
You'll need to update your iPod to the newest firmware using the latest iPod Updater Utility to resolve this problem.
Additionally, since you have a Nano, you may want to post future topics in the Nano forum instead of the 5th Generation iPod forum.

Connecting & Disconnecting Bluetooth Hangs Lumia92...

I've begun to notice that when my Lumia920 connects & disconnects multiple times with my vehicle's Bluetooth, the phone hangs & requires a restart. (It happens when I have to make multiple stops while grocery shopping)
This was not the case when I was using my simple NokiaC300. There was no problems doing the exact same tasks.
Any suggestions?

CanadaLumia920, sounds a like a bug. You should report this to the head-unit manafucturer of your car. He is able to debug this because he has your head-unit. Nokia or Microsoft might not have your head-unit. Then, your manufacturer tests your device and with his professional tools is able to debug this. Then, your manufacturer is able to determine if it is his bug, a Nokia bug or one of Microsoft (because of Windows Phone). Then, your manufacturer is able to file a qualified bug report to the one causing this. And if you have luck, it will get fixed through an software update.
The bottom line of this story: You cannot do much. Bugs happen. Rather go back to your old mobile phone. Some network operators offer to buy an additional SIM with the same number, so you can use your old and new phone in parallel.

Phone connected/disconnected notification

I'm using Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.6 on XP sp3. Can I turn off the pop-up balloon in the system tray that notifies you of a phone connection/disconnection?

Yes, you can exit the program from the system tray and the phone will still be connected.

IPod touch 4th gen stuck in connect/disconnect loop, will not charge on desktop PC, but is recognized fine by older laptop?

I have an iPod 4th gen that up until the week before was connecting and charging fine on my desktop computer (running Windows 7(64-bit)). Now, when connected to the USB ports on my desktop, it goes into this rapid and unending connect/disconnect loop, never staying connected long enough to even be recognized by the computer. There is an error message that also says that charging is not supported by the computer, when before, things were fine. Despite all the problems on the desktop, the iPod is recognized fine by my 5 year old laptop, which is running a simplified version Windows XP. Halp. I've tried everything on the iPod support pages regarding this issue, and would really like to avoid calling Apple about this. Any suggestions?

Settings>Store (or iTunes & App Stores if you are running iOS6)>Apple ID. Tap your son's ID and sign out. Sign in with your ID and password.
You shouldn't lose the music, but if you try to update any apps that you bought with the family ID, you will have to use that password that is linked with that ID in order to update.
Avoid downloading past purchased content with the old ID if you can since you will associate the iPad with the old ID for 90 days and you will lock yourself out of your own, new ID for that period of time. Read more about associated devices in iTunes here.

On start-up after selecting "Yes" in the Import Preferences dialog, connections used in previous version are not transferred.
Connections were imported using manually selected prefs from 2.1.1...

If you try to search on the forum, you'll find the same problem as yours :

The only solution would be to export the connections from previous release and import them.

Applications move between spaces when connecting/disconnecting second display

During the day I'm constantly connecting/disconnecting/reconnecting my 2nd display to my Mac. When I do that a lot I see a few things happen:
- Applications move to different spaces
- One or two of my spaces dissappear
Has anyone come across this issue before and is there any solutions or options I can try out.

I just ran a hardware test (on ML you must hold down Option-D so it can access the hardware test bits via the 'net) and the test completed without finding any issues. I wonder if the issue has to do with switching between the integrated and discreet graphics.

Bluetooth connection - Keeps connecting / disconnecting in car.

Hi,
I've recently got a Z2 phone and i love it all apart from when I get in my car.
It connects, disconnect, connects, disconnnect, and so on and so on for as long as Im driving.
I've done all I can think of.
Reset the phone, unpair the devices etc.
does anyone have any idea? is this a known issue?

I guess nobody has this issue?
The car is a 2014 Vauxhall Insignia
I've had the garage look into it but they have no problem getting other phones to connect to the vehicle, even my old Nokia 920 works fine.
