Fixing width of a rtf table having dynamically rendered columns.

Hi All,
We have a rtf table where we are showing/hiding columns conditionally (using 'if@column').
But this is resulting in reduction of table width as well, based on number of columns getting hidden.
Is there any way, so that we can keep the overall width of table fixed, irrespective of its columns shown/hidden dynamically ?
Basically, we want to get same experience as of ADF tables, where we can set a certain column (say last column) to adjust its width (based on other no. of columns shown or hidden), so that overall table width remains fixed.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response.
I tried to fix the width of a column by putting 20% ,30% ....suggested by you.But it's not reflecting in the report.
is there any other way?
thanks,
chinna

  • Fixed width row for lines table

    Hi,
    I have a header and details tables in my template. The problem is that if there is more data for any of the column in lines, the row expands and hence the gap between footer and lines table is disturbed. Because of this reason I am unable to fix number of rows per page for lines. Any guidelines on this will help.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
    Just to confirm this, you are having problems with the height of your table, ie it is expanding vertically down the page, as opposed to the width, expanding horizontally across the page.
    You can fix the height of the table, by selecting the repeating row of the table and going to Table Properties, on the Row tab check the Specify Height box. You can then enter a height for this row. The drop down menu to the right means you specify whether the row should be At Least the specified height, or exactly the specified height.
    You may need to look at nested tables here, but specifying the height of the rows should give you a reasonable starting point.

  • Report crashes when table having lots of columns and rows, please help

    Hi, Everyone,
    Our system is Apex 4.0.2 with Oracle 11GR2 and Oracle HTTP server in the middle.
    We have a very simple report drawing data from a table with 46 columns ( no binary data) , when the maximun rows is 500, everything is fine; but if I increase the maximum rows to 500000, it crashes repeatedly. We are doing third party database integration , our goal is using Apex simple reports with CSV exporting capability to export tables into text files which can be imported by other databases. I know there are other ways to export table into CSV file, but APEX report seems very easy to use, best of all, non programmers can use it too....
    Our experience shows that: if the table has few columns, like 10 columns, we can use report to dump large number of rows like 200000, but we can't use APEX report for table with lots of columns. the HTTP server log doesn't show any meaningful information. ( we use the Apex Utilities like UNLOAD data with the same crash result).
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • ALV Table and dynamic new column

    Hi,
    I have a ALV table with tree in one column (reccuring context value).
    I would like dynamically to add new columns. I know the method of IF_WD_CONTEXT_NODE_INFO->ADD_NEW_CHILD_NODE, but this is used in another posts/blogs where whole table is generated dynamically. I have a table already and just want to add a new column.
    Is that possible?
    Thank you on advance, cheers.

    Under normal circumstances you could use the Context API method ADD_ATTRIBUTE to create a dynamic attirubte:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/af/cb744176cb127de10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    Unfortunately this is not compatible with the ALV. The ALV only supports static attributes.  Therefore you will need to build up an entire RTTI based structure in memory and then dynamically re-create the entire context. This is a similar example:
    data:
             rootnode_info type ref to if_wd_context_node_info,
             dyn_node type ref to if_wd_context_node,
             dyn_node_info type ref to if_wd_context_node_info,
             tabname_node type ref to if_wd_context_node,
             current_tablename type string,
             tablename type string,
             struct_type type ref to cl_abap_structdescr,
              table_type  type ref to cl_abap_tabledescr,
              comp_tab    type cl_abap_structdescr=>component_table,
              comp        like line of comp_tab,
              my_table    type ref to data,
              my_row      type ref to data.
        loop at field_details assigning <wa_detail>.
    * build a structure description from the list of single fields
              comp-name = <wa_detail>-field_code.
              comp-type ?= cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_name( 'STRING' ). "Replace with your dataType
            append comp to comp_tab.
          endloop.
    struct_type = cl_abap_structdescr=>create( comp_tab ).
          dyn_node_info = rootnode_info->add_new_child_node(
             name                   = 'MDM_DATA'
             is_mandatory           = abap_false
             is_mandatory_selection = abap_false
             static_element_rtti    = struct_type
             is_multiple            = abap_true
             is_static              = abap_false ).

  • Best approach -To create RTF template having more than 50 tables.

    Hi All,
    Need your help.I am new to BI publisher. Currently we are using BIP 11g.
    I want to develop.rtf template having lots of layout and images.
    Data is coming from different tables (example : pulling from around 40 tables). When i tried to pull data from 5 tables by joining tables. It takes more time using data model in BI publisher 11g saved in xml and used in word doc.
    Could you please suggest best approach  weather i need to develop .rtf template via data model or query to generate a report.
    Also please suggest / guide me .
    Regards & Thanks in advance.

    it's very specific requirements
    first of all it's relate to logic behind
    as example 50 tables are related ? or 50 independent tables ? or may be 5 related and another independent ?
    based on relation of tables you create sql statement(s)
    how many sql statement(s) you'll have lead to identify ways to get data, as example, by package or trigger etc
    kim size of resulting select statement(s)
    if size say 1mb it's must be fast to get report but for 1000mb it can consume many time
    also kim what time it's not only to select data but to merge data and template
    looks like experimenting and knowing full logic of report is only ways to get needed output in projection of data and time

  • How to display fixed width column in Advanced Table?

    Hi,
    This is probably a newbie question for OAF. My requirement is quite simple but I couldn't find the answer in either the OAF developer's guide or anywhere else so I turn to the experts here. I have a region of type Table or Advanced table with three items in them. One of the Item is of type comments which could be up to 4000 characters.
    I wanted to show all three on the first page but only have fixed width for the comments section like only show the first 50 characters for example and then if they want to see more detail they can click on a link to see full comments.
    The problem is I cannot figure out how to make the comments item fixed width. I have played with the table width properties but it keeps displaying the comments in multiple lines (I don't want that...). I have also tried putting the Table in a Row Layout but it doesn't seem to help.
    Since this is new development I can change my region style to anything to meet my requirements.
    I hope this is an easy question and if someone can help me that would be great....:-)

    Hi,
    Thanks but I was not wanting to change the VO attribute length size since I want to have a link on the first page which would enable to see a user the full 4000 comments using the same VO object. Then if I limit it to 50 characters in the VO, I will not be able to display the full comments on the second page.
    Isn't there some way in the UI that I can limit it? I know one workaround I can use for now is to have another column in the VO with the 50 character value such as substr(comments, 1, 50) and then have the full comments selected also in the VO and then show this subtr value in the first page and the comments value in the 2nd. I just thought there would be an easier way about it then doing all this workaround.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • SYNTAX: Fixed width table columns

    How do I make the <bc4j:table ... > columns display a fixed width with no wrapping?
    Thanks for any info.

    Classification:
    I am using JDeveloper 903. Within my table tag, if my column has the readOnly attribute set to false and I set the columns attribute to 5, I see five columns.
    If I set the readOnly attribute to true and set the columns attribute to 5, the columns attribute is ignored.
    Is this a BUG or is this expected behavior?
    Thanks for any clairification

  • Issue with having to declare fixed width for my top level floated LI in horizontal menu

    Hi and thanks for taking a look at my problem:
    I am having trouble getting my sub menus to display correctly in IE.
    Originally i didn't declare a fixed width for my top level li and it displayed perfectly in all browsers except IE.
    If i don't declare a fixed width for my floated floated elements, IE treates the top level li as the same width as the ul they contain (which I don't want). So I declared a width for the ul.MenuBarHorizontal li to be 80px, which is close to the minimum width that i want to use for the top level list items. However, in actual fact, the top level list items all have individually declared widths in the classes they are assigned.
    How can i re-write the html or CSS so that the browser, mainly IE, reads the correct widths for the top level ist li??
    Here is a link to the page with the problem
    Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out.

    Hi Beth,
    thanks so much for your repsonse.
    I will take your notes and advice and see if i can apply it to the actual page i was referring to. It seems you were now looking at a completely different page with a different (albeit spry) horizontal menu.
    Again, i truly appreciate your time and advice.
    Thanks!

  • Layers-fixed width and/or embeding in a table

    I have been setting up a site and am trying to use one, the
    other or both techniques. For a specific design I wanted to use
    layers with a fixed width. I assign the width in the properties but
    when I enter text it does not wrap, instead the layer expands. Then
    I thought I could keep the layer from expanding by embeding it in a
    table cell. The layer does not seem to care that it is in a table
    cell. The layer expands regardless of anything I have done so far.
    Is there anybody that can help with this issue or am I out of
    luck?
    Thanks in advance.

    Try adding a space to the text you enter.

    Never put a layer directly into a table cell. You will get
    browser
    rendering differences when you do this.

  • Problem with Dynamic table having row map.

    Hi,
    I need to create a table dynamically based on following inputs:
    a.)Name and number of columns will be decided dynamically at run-time.
    b.) Each row will contain a map of column values ,which will be dynamically generated by some other class.
    In the same way multiple tables need to be created dynamically.
    I tried created table for the same as following:
    RichTable tb=new RichTable();
    tb.setId("trs");
    tb.setValue(UICredRowList.getMapListforRows());
    for(Iterator itr=header.iterator();itr.hasNext();)
    String headerKey = (String) itr.next();
    RichColumn myCol = new RichColumn();
    ExpressionFactory efact = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(). getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
    ValueExpression valExpr1 = efact.createValueExpression( elContext1,"#{row["+headerKey+"]}",Object.class);
    resolveExpression("#{row["+headerKey+"]}") ;
    myCol.setId("tc1");
    myCol.setSortable(false);
    myCol.setWidth("250");
    myCol.setHeaderText(headerKey);
    RichOutputText rot1 = new RichOutputText();
    rot1.setValueExpression("value", valExpr1);
    myCol.getChildren().add(rot1);
    tb.getChildren().add(myCol);
    Here when I checked the column value from Expression I am getting value as null.
                        Can someone help me how can I handle this type of table.Example will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance
    Sunil

    Which JDeveloper version do you use, if you use 12c or 11R2 you should find this option when you drag and drop the table to auto generate columns dynamically.

  • How to determine the fixed width I can use to generate html columns in java

    I have a jsp where I dynamically generate menus for a web page.
    Table's cells are generated with different width, making the menus look differently.
    When clicking on menus, cells changing sizes.
    What is the best way to implement that, so I have a fixed width for every column?

    That's what I do.
    The code determines the width of the column now.
    The only drawback is that I manually assign values to the width depending on the menu item length.
    Is there any way how to do it dynamically, by determining how many px width will be by having the menu item lenght?

  • Fixed Width Report Region

    Is it possible to set a report region to fixed width rather than auto? If so, where do I edit this? Thanks!

    Oh yes, you can do it on the fly with Dynamic Actions. Its all about changing the CSS Class property for table width.
    Once you know how to identify the table and have its "class", you write a Dynamic Action at process point "After Page" to change the Class width property.
    You could also write a OnLoad JS function to do the same. Depends on which you are more comfortable.

  • Giving the ScrollBarThumb a fixed width

    Hi guys,
    I'm skinning a scrollbar and I'm having some problems width the ScrollBarThumb (the actual button on the scrollbar). I want to give it a fixed width but no matter what I try it always gives the Thumb a dynamic width.
    This is what I have in the skin class:
    <!---  The default skin class is HScrollBarThumbSkin.
                @copy spark.components.supportClasses.TrackBase#thumb
                @see spark.skins.spark.HScrollBarThumbSkin -->
        <s:Button id="thumb" width="20"
                  focusEnabled="false" visible.inactive="false"
                  skinClass="spark.skins.spark.HScrollBarThumbSkin"  />
    But it's not working, does anybody have an idea on how to give it a fixed width?

    I wonder if the actual size of the thumb is controlled in the HScrollBarSkin on the thumb skinpart?

  • How to create a fixed-width column within an APEX 4 interactive report?

    This thread is a follow-up to {message:id=9191195}. Thanks fac586.
    Partial success: The following code provided by fac586 limits the column width of the Apex 4 interactive report column as long as the column data contains whitespace within a Firefox 3.6 browser:
    <pre class="jive-pre">
    <style type="text/css">
    th#T_DESCRIPTION {
    width: 300px;
    td[headers="T_DESCRIPTION"] {
    width: 300px;
    word-wrap: break-word;
    </style>
    </pre>
    Notes:
    1. The code above is put into the HTML header section for the page.
    2. T_DESCRIPTION is defined as VARCHAR2(2000).
    3. The code above works within the Firefox 3.6.12 browser but does not work within the Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13 browser.
    I tried adding "float: left;":
    <pre class="jive-pre">
    <style type="text/css">
    th#T_DESCRIPTION {
    width: 300px;
    td[headers="T_DESCRIPTION"] {
    width: 300px;
    word-wrap: break-word;
    <font color="red"> float: left;</font>
    </style>
    </pre>
    Notes:
    1. "float: left;" does not require whitespace and successfully splits the column between characters in lieu of whitespace.
    2. "float: left;" shrinks the cell height and allows the page background to show through... couldn't determine how to fix this.
    3. The code above works within the Firefox 3.6.12 browser but does not work within the Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13 browser.
    I've done some more research, but I still haven't discovered how to create a fixed-width column within an APEX 4 interactive report that displays properly within an Internet Explorer 7 browser.
    Any ideas and help will be appreciated.

  • How to display data in table with dynamic rows, section wise in a page.

    Hello all,
    I work on report creation in BI Publisher where I need to display data from xml in a table in pdf format.The output page is divided into two vertical sections , containing tables, with exactly same columns on left and right sections. The number of rows in table depends on the output of the fetching query. The page is to be populated in such a way that, at first, the left table is populated, then the next rows fill up the table on the right section of the page, if more rows are left, they fill up the tables on next page[first the left table, and then the right one, in a similar fashion as in page 1]
    On a bird's eye view, the data needs to be simply mapped to a table, with dynamic number of rows, and so can span number of pages depending on size of data. On a implementation level, I am stuck in getting the left section of the page populated first, then the right section[in place of the right page], and then the next page.
    Please guide me if someone has any idea in getting this achieved.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the response...
    I am able to get the desired functionality. I just need the tables to be inside a bigger table, that also has a dividing line between the two columns. This is was is intended in the req. provided to me. The column formatting option provides me a line ,but that is not further modifiable .Please help me in getting a perpendicular line between the two columns, which I need to be of a specified width and color.
