Flash 11 sending incorrect accept-language header in IE9

I am building a website and while web requests from the browser and from javascript report the correct accept-language header (as set inside the IE9 properties, as well as set in system settings on Windows), Flash continues to send English. This seems to be a bug in Flash as I can see no other way to force it to send the same value as the browser.
Can someone confirm this? Also, our Flash developer says that when he looks inside the capabilities object for the current language, it seems that he's also getting the incorrect one. From my research, it sounds like IE sends scripts and plugins only the System Localization language (ie Language in which Windows was shipped), and not the system setting language.
However, since Flash seems to be using the browser http stack for its web calls, I don't see why this behavior should be broken on IE when it works fine for Firefox, Chrome and Opera.

I don't think this is new behavior. When searching on Google, I found a similar post from years ago about this same issue. To reproduce it, get on any internet explorer, set your language to something other than English (or whatever your default happens to be currently).
Go to a website like speedtest.com and press f12 for the developer tools. go to the network tab and enable network monitoring. refresh the page. you will see that all of the page requests send accept-language correctly as your new language.
Next, run the speedtest. you will see a bunch more requests pop up in the network monitor. check the headers. it will send accept-language as en-US, regardless of your settings.

  • Choose value of Accept-Language: header

    Hello,
    I have a problem: I use Safari on an english language system, but I would like it to request pages in French, sending the following header: "Accept-Language: fr"
    Couldn't find this in the preferences, as in Firefox, did I miss something? And there's no way I'll change my system's language just for that
    thanks

    No way to do what you want in Safari yet.
    To tell Apple you want it, use the Report bugs item in the Safari menu.

  • Accept language in Http Header of Aqualogic portlet.

    Hi, we have developed one web page using ASP.Net and hosted in the Aqualogic portlet server, when ever we access that page from different location/browser, we are getting "en-us" as accept language in the Http header variable of Request object, but it should change based on the location and browser.
    Please let us know,do we have to modify any settings in the aqualogic portal?
    Note: We are getting different accept language from the same code when hosted on the web server/local(Without Aqualogic).
    Thanks in Advance.

    Yes.

    When I try to invoke this service with http request, it redirects to https service.
    This actually just trashes the entire idea of terminating SSL in the load balancer.
    >
    Not necessarily. Although direct HTTP request to WebLogic is redirected to HTTPS enabled port, you can still use this settings with WebLogic plugin. I'm not aware of your deployment, but I use Apache plugin for WebLogic, terminate SSL on Apache and I'm still able to send requests authenticated by certificate from client through HTTPS.
    I don't know about F5, but I guess there should be similar feature as well.

  • Problem with HttpHeader Accept-Language with InternetExplorer

    I'm building an web application using Flash at the front side and Jetty at the back side.
    This application has to care of the language settings of the browser.
    Normally the browser sends with each request the Http-header accept-language in wich the language settings of the browser are reflected.
    To check this I wrote a servlet wich echos the request with its headers.
    Here is the output for FF:
    <code>
    >>>TestServlet0<<<
    HttpServletRequest.getRequestURI
    /Era09Web/TestServlet0
    HttpServletRequest.getHeader
    Host : localhost:8080
    User-Agent : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100315 Firefox/3.5.9
    Accept : text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8
    Accept-Language : en-gb,de-at;q=0.5
    Accept-Encoding : gzip,deflate
    Accept-Charset : ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7
    Keep-Alive : 300
    Connection : keep-alive
    Cache-Control : max-age=0
    HttpServletRequest.getLocale: Englisch (Vereinigtes Königreich)
    </code>
    Here is the output for IE:
    <code>
    >>>TestServlet0<<<
    HttpServletRequest.getRequestURI
    /Era09Web/TestServlet0
    HttpServletRequest.getHeader
    Accept : */*
    Accept-Language : en-GB,de-AT;q=0.5
    User-Agent : Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; MSN OptimizedIE8;DEDE)
    Accept-Encoding : gzip, deflate
    Host : localhost:8080
    Connection : Keep-Alive
    HttpServletRequest.getLocale: Englisch (Vereinigtes Königreich)
    </code>
    That looks ok, but it was without Flash jet.
    Now the same info requested by mx.rpc.http.HTTPService.
    First for FF:
    <code>
    RequestURL : http://localhost:8080/Era09Web/DownServlet
    HttpHeader:
    Host : localhost:8080
    User-Agent : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100315 Firefox/3.5.9
    Accept : text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8
    Accept-Language : en-gb,de-at;q=0.5
    Accept-Encoding : gzip,deflate
    Accept-Charset : ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7
    Keep-Alive : 300
    Connection : keep-alive
    RequestLocale : Englisch (Vereinigtes Königreich)
    </code>
    Second for IE:
    <code>
    RequestURL : http://localhost:8080/Era09Web/DownServlet
    HttpHeader:
    Accept : */*
    Referer : http://localhost:8080/Diagramm1.swf
    Accept-Language : de-DE
    User-Agent : Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; MSN OptimizedIE8;DEDE)
    Accept-Encoding : gzip, deflate
    Host : localhost:8080
    Connection : Keep-Alive
    x-flash-version : 9,0,124,0
    RequestLocale : Deutsch (Deutschland)
    </code>
    Question: Why with IE it shows me de-DE and not en-GB ?

    I'm sending the files zipped yes. I thinks it's better like that. Isn't it?
    Yes.
    They are not necessarly using the same version. I will ask them to get the last one so we will have all the same.
    Perhaps that will help. You should also make sure they have the same Arabic fonts on their machines that you used for your file.

  • FlashPlayer send incorrect timestamps to FMS

    When I publish live audio/video via NetStream in some cases flash player starts to send incorrect timestamps.
    How to reproduce:
    1 Start live audio/video stream. Wait for 10 seconds (video/audio timestamps - goes from 0 to 10)
    2 Detach camera from NetStream (turn off video) and continue to publish audio for 60 seconds (video timestamps 10, audio timestamps - from 10 to 70)
    3 Turn off audio (mute or just be quiet) for 10 seconds (timestamps don't change)
    4 Turn on video (attach camera to NetStream again) for 10 seconds (video timestamps go crazy and jump to 140)
    5 Turn on audio - HERE video will be frozen because audio timestamps overtakes video timestamps from 90 to 140. Before audio timestamps reach 140 - video timestamps will be 0 and video is frozen.

    The language on the iPad can be changed via Settings > General > International > Language - if you can't speak French then there are instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4051.
    There should be a link to the manual in the bookmarks in Safari
    Or you can download a copy from here : http://support.apple.com/manuals/ipad/
    There is also a copy in the ibookstore, so if you download and install the iBooks app you should find a copy in the Store in that.

  • When I accept a calendar invite iPhone 5 is sending multiple acceptance mails

    Hi there,
    I'm hoping someone can assist as I'm driivng my colleagues crazy.
    Just moved over from an iPhone 4 to iPhone 5. Everything has been copied over ok and I was happy as Larry.
    However I just got a meeting request from our works mail server (Exchange) which I accepted in the calendar app. The phone then proceeded to send 30odd acceptance messages to the invitee who just so happened to be my boss. I switched the phone off and sure enough the stopped only to resume once I switched the phone back on again.
    I thought perhaps something didn't quite copy over correctly so I removed the exchange account completely and re-added it. I got a member of my staff to test with a new meeting request and exactly the same thing happend again. This time I just switched off the calendar and switched it back on which seems to have solved the problem of the multiple messages.
    Obviously this not only mega annoying for the person getting spammed by my acceptance mails it's also killing my battery.
    I wasn't having this issue on my iPhone 4 which was running iOS 6 so the only things that have changed is the phone and also the service provider. I'm sure former will blame the latter and the latter will blame the former.
    Before I spend time on the phone to the network has anyone else experienced similar? And how did you resolve it?

    I have the exact same request. I especially don't want to send a response when I receive an invite to a large meeting with a lot of invitees. Have you figured it out?

    When I accept meetings in outlook 2010 on my Iphone it does not send my acceptance to the requestee.  How do i fix this

    Outlook 2010 is an email client that runs on a PC. It does not run on an iPhone at all.
    Is this a corporate email account? What did your IT department say when  you went to them about the problem?
    The ability to correctly process meeting requests when using an Exchange server depends on the version of Exchange your organization is running. It has nothing to do with what mail client you use on your PC.

  • How do I prevent Mail from automatically sending iCal acceptances?

    I am using Apple Mail 4.6 on Snow Leopard. I have multiple email accounts in Mail (personal, work, etc.) When I accept an iCal invitation, Mail automatically sends the email response without allowing me to review the email contents or the "From" address. This can lead to embarrassing situations if the email is sent from my personal account. Very uncool.
    The only workaround I have found is to make my work account the "default" account by dragging it to the top of my account list. But this isn't foolproof as Mail apparently uses the address of any currently selected Inbox or message as the From address, so I have to make sure to deselect any messages in Mail before I click "Accept" in iCal. But now if I receive an invitation to my personal calendar, my acceptance will be sent from my work address. Also not cool.
    Is there a better, more reliable way to control the "From" address in an iCal acceptance?
    Or can I prevent Mail from sending this acceptance email automatically? Ideally, I would like Mail to put an unsent iCal acceptance in Drafts or Outbox so I can review and edit the message before sending. But the Drafts and Outbox mailboxes seem to be just chimera, always disappearing. (In fact, I tried creating and sending a message while offline and it just disappeared. Didn't even go to Drafts. When I went back online, the message went "swoosh" from some unknown location. Not very smart design, Apple.)

    It looks like the only way to address this problem is by using this 3rd party software:
    iCal Reply Checker
    http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icalreplychecker/
    Does anyone know of an Apple-native solution?

  • The flash player doesn't work on my IE9

    I have a windows 7 - 64 bit operating system. The flash player doesn’t work on my IE9 and it does work on Google Chrome. I have tried uninstalling the flash player and re installing the player. The download file doesn’t download when I try downloading through IE9and the file fails to initialize when I download the flash player for IE9 through google chrome. My antivirus software McAfee is not working because of the flash player and other softwares like yahoo messenger . Please help.

    Assuming you've checked to make sure that Shockwave Flash is enabled in IE's addons manager and you do not have ActiveX filtering enabled, Could you check to see if you have the following Windows update installed?
    KB2670838 – Platform Update for Windows 7 x64
    If so, please uninstall it and try Flash Player out again.
    Thanks,

  • Accept-Encoding header missing

    Hi,
    we'd like to provide gzipped and packed200 jar of our application.Everything worked fine, we compressed our jar into .jar.gz and .pack.gz, achieved the usual checks.
    They are all in the same directory.
    But the problem is that our 1.5.0_04 jws never achieve a HTTP request with the Accept-Encoding header. So our application transfers the basic .jar file.
    Is there a flag to set in our deployment file for the jws to ask the request with the header ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Andy,
    I finally found that the problem was the symbolic jar URL into the JNLP descritption. It seems that the jar URL must end with ".jar"
    I changed my servlet mapping from /myURL/jar to /myURL/some.jar and the 1.5 clients provided the accept-encoding header.
    Thanks for your response by the way.

  • ICWeb Client, How check flashing buttons, before accepting a call?

    Good morning,
    I need with ABAP CODE, to check if there is the flashing button, before accepting call.
    Do know anyone how check this state in the interection center?
    To check if the call is accepted I use the following code:
    data: ref_intman type ref to cl_crm_ic_interaction_manager.
    ref_intman = cl_crm_ic_interaction_manager->get_instance( ).
    check ref_intman->has_current_interaction( ) eq abap_true.
    I need also to check if the user is ready or not ready to receive a call.
    Many thanks.
    Marc

    No, Marc, this is defenitely a standard method. Programmers at SAP also make mistakes not renaming methods when copying them Nobody is perfect.
    The code in it is quite simple and similar to get_currentchatid:
    METHOD get_currentphoneid.
       ev_phone_sessionid = m_phone_sessionid.
    ENDMETHOD.
    where ev_phone_sessionid is a returning paramater of the method with type STRING.
    m_phone_sessionid in turn is a protected attribute of the class with type STRING.
    It is filled in IF_CRM_IC_EVENT_LISTENER~HANDLE_EVENT method of the class in following way:
    METHOD if_crm_ic_event_listener~handle_event.
    CASE event->get_name( ).
       WHEN cl_crm_ic_mcm_contact=>c_event_accepted.
         event->get_param( EXPORTING name = 'Parameter1' IMPORTING value = itemchannel )."#EC NOTEXT

           contact = get_contact( itemid ).
           IF contact IS BOUND.
             contact->set_status( cl_crm_ic_mcm_contact=>c_status_accepted ).
           ELSE.

                                             iv_msg_v2     = ''
                                             iv_msg_v3     = ''
                                             iv_msg_v4     = '' ).
           ENDIF.
         ENDIF.
         IF itemchannel EQ cl_crm_ic_mcm_contact=>c_channel_chat.
           m_chat_sessionid = itemid.
         ELSEIF itemchannel EQ cl_crm_ic_mcm_contact=>c_channel_telephony.

  • Flash Player not working in IE8 or IE9

    Had been using IE9 and all of a sudden had problems on all sites with Flash.  Went to a website and was prompted to "Click to install activex control: Adobe Flash Player". When I click to install, I get the error message that the "Flash Player I am trying to install is not the latest version. Please visit the download center to get the latest version."  I do that, go to install 10.3.183.10, download, run, etc. Then I get a message saying "Newer version already installed". If I look under my installed program, that IS the version that is installed.  I uninstalled it, and then re-installed it for Firefox.  That at least works somewhat, but I've had a lot of problems with FF lately with screen freezing, not responding, etc., and I have the same problems since uninstalling & reinstalling (not saying it's a Flash Player related problem, could be something different) which is why I've been using IE.
    I read about someone having a problem with IE9 and uninstalling and going back to IE8, so I did that, and here I am still having the same probem in IE8.
    HELP!

    UGH! I can't take this.  I'm the OP and STIL having the same problems.  For a while it was ok. I went back to IE8 (instead of latest version 9), and Flash version 10, and that seemed to solve the problem.  Then i started having more and more problems on sites with flash, and then finally I could no longer play my FB game (Cityville) b/c I would get the "you need to update to the latest version of Flash".  So..... I updated to Version 11, and now it crashes ALL the time and can't even go on Youtube b/c it says I need the latest version of Flash!  I HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF FLASH!!  In other words....back to my original problem from a few months ago.   I don't know what else to do at this point.  At the moment, everything seems to be working ok in Firefox.......... but why can't I get it to work in IE?  FTR, every time I upgraded to IE9, Flash wouldn't work at all which is why I ended up just going back to IE8.  Has there been any headway made on the Flash/IE issues or do I now have to go back to using Firefox all the time? (ironic b/c when this all first started I had been using FF for years, and had to go back to IE due to the flash problems with FF).
    ETA:  I just upgraded to IE9 and now when I go to flash sites, it lets them load but everything flashes all crazily (same as happened months ago).  *insert head banging smiley*

  • Php data correct on html ouput but output to flash is incorrect

    Not sure whats going on. Information sent back from database
    is correct so it must be my for statement.
    var nextY = 0;
    var nextY2 = 18;
    for (var count = 0; count < result_lv.typeCount; count++)
    var nextY2 = 18;

    there are 3 sub categorys:
    cd/dvd
    www/html
    www/flash
    These load fine.
    the problem starts in the second for(). For some strange
    reason every category has the first 2 same projects.
    The count for each category project count is correct.
    But it would seem that each category want to load every
    project regardless of the category that it should be in.
    I have since discovered that flash is not outputting the

    The type count is correct but the information for the project
    is wrong.
    Can anyone see a typo??? it must be a typo.
    THanks for any help

    One possible issue is a browser caching problem.
    Also consider trace statements for
    trace ("results_lv.typeCount :" +results_lv.typeCount);
    trace ("count:" +count);
    trace ("result_lv[\"type\" + count + \"clientCount\"]:" +
    result_lv["type" +
    count + "clientCount"]);
    Your statements "here is what PHP sends back to Flash" and
    "what Flash
    receives" is puzzling. Could you be saying here is what PHP
    returns to a web
    browser page and here is what Flash sees? If that is the
    case, then it looks
    like two different responses from the PHP program.
    I generally have a test web page that sends the same data to
    the PHP script
    as Flash would and have have a debug option in the PHP to
    return the return
    values in a <pre> format so I can see them neatly in a
    web page. This
    allows testing the PHP program separately and verify what it
    returns outside
    of Flash. Once that is clear, then you should see the exact
    same
    information.
    Example
    echo $returnVals; // Contains all the url encoded variables.
    in debug mode for web page
    echo "<html><body><pre>" . $returnVals .
    </pre></body></html>";
