Flash 7 getURL fails in IE7

I have an old Flash file that must remain published to Flash
player 7. I'm experience a complete failure of communication to
JavaScript in IE7 when using getURL(), and am unsure how to resolve
this issue.
A call to a JavaScript function on the page fails. Even a
simple call to make an alert happen fails:
btn.onRelease = function() {
getURL("javascript:alert('you clicked me')");
I'm using the AC_RunActiveContent.js to embed the *.swf (via
the export to HTML).
This does work when viewed in Firefox 2. How many others have
run into this? What are workarounds or alternatives?

This is now no longer an issue for me. I finally decided to
download and run the Flash player uninstaller, and reinstall Flash.
That did the trick for me. So I must have had a corrupt player on
my machine.
Frustrating, though, that I only thought of this after a
couple hours of pulling teeth, hairs and other things.

  • Flash Builder fails to copy over static files in incremental compiles

During incremental compiles, the Flash Builder fails to copy over certain static files (such as *.js and html files).  I have my own html wrapper and during incremental compiles it fails to copy over this file and also deletes the file from bin-debug/bin-release.  I have to do a clean build instead to ensure these files are copied over.

Just tried this out on an IIS server with Flash player 10.3.181.14 - it worked.
Are you using the release version of Flash Builder 4.5 with the release version of Flex SDK (not a prior SDK build)?
The URL you mentioned gives me a 403 forbidden error.

I did the same thing, TAC support said they've had like 20 people complain about this. He said "there is no reason to update the boot code on a 3005 model. It is only needed on the 3015 and higher models to support RAM chips larger than 256MB." TAC support said DO NOT UPDATE the boot code on the 3005.
I suggested that they make note of this SOMEWHERE in their documentation. He provided me with some hidden low-level commands to erase the boot code, but as he said the 3005 doesn't need v4 of the boot code, and the boot code hasn't been tested for it, it's possible it would just break the concentrator. He then added the only way to 'fix' a damaged boot code is to replace the entire unit. He suggested we not touch it anymore, and leave the boot code running as-shipped.

  • Flash in IE6 and IE7

    Hallo,
lately I got some error messages from our customers about two
    websites containing flash movies:
    http://express.motionet.de/
    and
    http://demo.aziza.biz/expresstv/
Both are the same pages on different servers (using
    progressive download).
But while the second is working fine, the first doesn't
display the movie or the movie preview for some IE 6 or IE 7
browsers. I can view both movies without problems in Firefox AND in
IE 7. But my customers normally use IE and reported this error.
(The movies are normal FLVs, so there should not be a problem
    with the movies.)
I already searched this forum for similar problems without
    results.

cannot upgrade adobe flash. installation fails to initianize. plse advise

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
*a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
*On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
'''''You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. ''''' If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.

#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.

  • Help. Flash player fails to update??

I am running Windows 7 64 bit computer. Update for Flash player failed at 65% with comment :- error failed to register-: how do I overcome this problem please

    Dear Dominic
Brilliant reply. Simple English. Simple to follow instructions. And it worked immediately, first time.
Why couldn't the Apple and Adobe corporations get their programming right first time? We spend billions of UK pounds and US dollars with them. They reply with incompetent programming such as this, and arrogance to their customers in issuing faulty systems without doing the most rudimentary checks.
Anyway, I certainly shan't be buying another Apple as this is the most unreliable, most incomprehensible, most illogical and downright thoughtless shoddy piece of computer kit which I have ever owned. And all of it is rubbish ~ emails disappear, photos can't be organised properly, spreadsheets don't work, Pages is laborious… the list goes on and on...
But thanks to you Dominic, I have been able to load Adoble Flashj… maybe eyou should get  a job at Apple, and set them all on the right course to how to work simply and correctly with customers.
    Thanks again,
    David

  • JVM Error 547 - Flash Write Failed

Hi, i got the 547 error after a long way of many other errors, it start by installing a new app using the stupid DM and my BB restart after the installation and i got 507 error, which mean no software, so i doubt it and tried to pull the battery, sim card and SD, wait for some time, return the battery, and 561 error was there, tried again and nothing
after search on crackberry and blackberry forums, talking about JL and BBSAK, used both to wipe and re-install the OS again,
of course i remove the vendor.xml from common files and user "document and settings" folders
during the installation it load until the net_rim_cldc.cod and restart on its own, and the loader give an error not able to connect again, so i wait until my phone restart with error 507 and click on retry, it stupidly erase every thing again instead of continue from the stop point and it reach the same point and restart, so i fall in a loop
i tried to delay the net_rim_cldc.cod to the end by changing the Platform.alx, and i tried to cancel this file from Platform.alx and it stuck with the truetype font.cod
i remove this OS and i tried to download from a different service provider, "again of course i remove the two files for vendor.xml" but no use
then i used the BBSAK to add manually all the basic files which is 220 modules, and i left the net_rim_cldc.cod to the end, suddenly my phone try to start and keep restarting every 2 minutes, and after several attempts is give me the JVM Error 547 "flash write failed"
no i cannot connect to BBSAK, the only way is to connect to the loader without battery and wait until it finish erasing then i can connect to JL to wipe or BBSAK
but then what?? i will end up between BB apploader which cannot finish the installation and BBSAK which can put the 220 files in 220 steps and the phone will not load
now, any BB genius can help??

  • Flash Builder fails to connect to debugger

I've noticed this problem after doing a clean build of all projects (app and libraries) in my workspace. After a clean build, when I launch the application in debug mode, Flash Builder fails to connect to the debugger and is usually stuck with a status of "Launching app: (61%)" for a long time and ultimately reports an error.  However, if I just do a clean build of the app (no dependent libraries), I don't have this problem.

You may be hitting this infamous issue: http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-16153 (multithreading problem in Flash Player, supposedly fixed now but not released yet). The more CPUs/cores your computer has, the more often you will encounter this issue.

  • Do Flash getURL links work when SWF is embedded in Director?

I’ve got a simple test rig that says no, the links
won’t work. Anybody get this to work?
My test rig has two buttons in Flash, one gets a pdf from a
remote server, the other opens a local PDF on my hard drive.
When played from the Flash player the local link works fine,
the remote link looks like it would work if I were willing to
change my security settings and restart.
When embedded in Director both links are inactive.
And, although this is not terribly relevant, when the SWF is
played remotely through a browser, the remote link works

Your Flash .swf is expecting to be housed in an HTML doc, and
so a getURL function is trying to reach out to the browser. When
you import your .swf into a Director movie, that Director movie is
taking the place of the browser window. So your function fails to
reach a browser. This is compounded if you are playing the .swf
from a Director projector as there's no browser immediately
    available.
There is a simple solution. You can use the on getURL
me,string function in Director to intercept the url.
So, if your Flash movie has something like this:
    myButton.onRelease = function() {
    getURL("www.disney.com",_blank);
Then in your Director movie, write a behavior something like
    this:
    property thisSprite
    on beginSprite me
    thisSprite = me.spriteNum
    end
    on getURL me,link,target
    gotoNetPage link,target
    end
Then attach that behavior to the Flash sprite.

  • GetURL fails on Runtime Library button

After years of estrangement, I'm embracing Flash once again.
I have a little project I'm working on, but have faltered right out
    of the gate...
I created a shared library with a single, relatively simple
button with a clip in the over frame. For the button symbol, in
    Linkage I chose:
    Export for runtime sharing
    Export in first frame
    URL: shared_lib.swf
I published the library, then closed the .fla. I created a
new test.fla and chose "Open External Library" and surfed to the
    shared_lib.swf.
The shared library opened as it should, with my simple button
available. I dragged the button to the stage of the new test.fla,
then checked its properties. Sure enough, "import for runtime
sharing" was selected. I tested the movie, and the button (and its
    rollover clip) worked perfectly.
Here's where it fails. I assigned an action to the button
    on (release) {
    getURL("
    http://google.com", "_blank");
When I test the movie, the getURL action doesn't work.
As a test, I created a new button, this time in the local
test.fla, and applied the same getURL action That button works. So,
why does the getURL action work on local library assets, but not
assets that are shared at runtime?

    yes

  • Uninstall Flash 9 fails

Flash 9 became nonfunctional today (XP Pro SP2 with all
    updates, IE7)
uninstall_flash_player.exe from the Adobe web site hangs at
93% completion, as reported elsewhere in this forum.
attempted reinstall over presumably corrupted installation
from the web site after exiting, with successful install reported,
but still unable to open any flash content.
tried to uninstall manually, by using regsrvr32 flash.ocx and
flash9.ocx with /u option, each successful, but unable to
successfully delete flash9.OCX, just flash.ocx that was presumably
from version 8, even after rebooting.
Have been using McAfee IS9 without privacy components due to
incompatibilities with some other software, but initial failures of
flash had been solved by successfully using above uninstall
executable and reinstalling. Flash had been functional until now.
Even tried uninstalling McAfee and temporarily using AVG Free
AV with the Windows firewall, and repeating steps above, also
    without success.

    uninstalled IE7, then uninstall_flash_player.exe successfully
completed. reinstalled flash9 from web site, and functional thus
    far.
the uninstaller may have failed due to incompatibility with
IE7; my previous successful uninstalls/reinstalls occurred after
experiencing problems with McAfee IS9, prior to upgrading to IE7.
don't believe that I had tried to uninstall/reinstall after
upgrading to IE7 until today, as flash functioned normally

  • Flash Installation Failing

Attempted to update the flash on my 15" Retina Macbook Pro running OS X 10.10 today, only to get the error "installation failed" which provides me a link to a support page. After extensive research on Adobe forums, I followed several pieces of advice for a fix with no avail. For example:
I uninstalled the flash version I currently had, restarted my computer and attempted a new clean install as suggested by Adobe. Did not work.
I've attempted to run an install using that backdoor method of "show package contents" and installing from there. Same error occurs.
I've downloaded the .dmg file a few times incase I had something wrong with the download. I've restarted computer multiple times. Still nothing. Now I don't even have the previous version of flash installed on the computer, because the previous advice was to uninstall it altogether.
    Any new suggestions out there?

    Hi radiatedesign
Thank you for providing the screenshot it is as it does confirm you and OP sarahrannals are having the same error.
To address your other comment, by posting 'same thing' and not providing the previously requested information slows down our ability to assist you, as your issue may or may not be the same as the OP.  Many people post "same thing" but it usually turns out that their issue is not be the same thing as the OP  For example, in this thread, melinda_o said she had the same problem as OP sarahrannals, but the offline installer worked for melinda_0, and is not workging for sarahrannals, and probably won't work for you either, therefore, melinda_o did not have the "same issue" as sarahrannals.  This is the reason for asking for the information, to verify if it was indeed the same issue.
    sarahrannals and radiatedesign
Unfortunately, the FlashPlayerInstallManager.log file didn't provide information on the failure.  This usually indicates a permissions issue in the filesystem.  Repairing the filesystem and filesystem permissions may resolve this.  Please see the section on First Aid in this Apple tech note, Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck - Apple Support.  Run both Verify and Repair Filesystem and Verify and Repair Disk Permissions.  Sometimes the verify step will return clean, but the repair step will fix some things.
After completing the above.  Delete all Flash Player installers you may have downloaded and download a new installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.  I recommend clearing the browsers cache first to make sure a previously cached installer is not downloaded again.

I tried to install Flash 10  - and it asks me to close the "Dashboard Client" of Mac OS X and after I click close on the flash install window, the installation fails. A message says that the failure occurs during "run preflight script" and to contact the software developer.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes or way around it?!

Got the problem as well, a little bit frustrating, i have the problem with BOTH flash 10 and photoshop elements 3 why isn't adobe willing to help us? I think this is quite dissapointing when you take into account the software costs ±$100 I also have Mac OSX 10.5.7

  • Why does installing Flash Drive fail every time on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.8)?

For many months now, I have not been able to update my Flash Drive. I finally tried to uninstall it. I followed the uninstall guidelines on this site. I still cannot install Flash Drive. The same failed message report pops up that popped up when I would try to update Flash Drive. It says it has failed and asks if I'd like to "Relaunch" or "Report to Apple."
I have a MacBook Pro with an OS X 10.5.8 operating system, and it is up to date.
    I

    Hi kelsey,
As Kaewngam indicates, Flash Player is no longer supported on OS X 10.5.8.  You can download 10.3 from the Archived Flash Player versions page, which was the last supported version for 10.5.8, however, most sites require a newer version of Flash Player to view content.  You may be able to upgrade to OS X 10.6 if your system qualifies. See here for system requirements, System requirements for OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6 The 10.6 CD should be available on the Apple store ($19.99) . You can Google 'upgrading OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6' and it'll return loads of information.
