Flash 8 crashed, now will not reopen
I was attempting to save a file in Flash 8 when the program crashed. The program would not reopen so I restarted my computer and then once again tried to open the program. "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -10810)." This is all I get when I try to open Flash, but every other program works fine. I have restarted several times and applied advice I found in these forums regarding this error message but nothing has worked.
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I have looked into the articles you linked to but none have helped me as of yet. It seems the fixes are all for a process overflow instance where the program in question is arbitrary, but the number of programs running is the issue. For me the dilemma is not being able to open only Macromedia Flash 8. I can open any number of other programs at one time, just not this one. I ended the process that was quoted in one article, the Microsoft mouse utility but it has presented no solution. I have also adjusted the program argument for the system daemon associated with org.samba.smbd. Another note, the second article you sent me was exactly what I needed in terms of the query, but they gave the answer regarding the more common cause of the issue, the overcrowding of processes. Thank you again for your time and responsiveness.

Safari has crashed and will not reopen
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful. -

IWeb 09 crashed and will not reopen
I have a problem with iWeb.
When editing a webpage in iWeb (adding a second album) the software froze for a few minutes , then crashed. When prompted, I clicked on reopen, but it failed. I tried again with the reset and reopen option. This failed too. I repeated this several times, reset the machine but nothing worked. i tried again today but the same thing happened. I deleted from the iweb folder the galleries i thought were causing the problem, but it had no effect. I've been looking here in the forums, and tried deleting the preference file, restarting then doing a 'fix permission' in the disc utility. IWeb still refuses to open. I'm a new Mac user, and not sure if i can simply uninstall or delete iWeb 09, then reinstall it from the iLife 09 disc.
Any advice would be appreciated. That could mean there's a damaged preference file other than iWeb's that's causing the problem. Before you go to that trouble try the following:
Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - Make a duplicate copy of the Preferences A folder on the Desktop as a precautionary backup.
4 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
5 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here.
6 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it. -
Microsoft office crashed and will not reopen
While in use, my microsoft office window closed suddenly and all attempts to relauch Outlook have failed. ANy suggestions?
First off - try going here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011
Outlook uses Identities which are fragile in my experience. If you hold down the Option key while clicking/opening the Outlook app the Microsoft Data Management Utility may open. If so you can try rebuilding (lower right) and see if it recreates the identity for you. On the Mac Forum for Office (which is a Microsoft product) is where you will get help. Outlook for Mac uses a Microsoft written 'sync' with iCal and it fails often imx.
On another note - what I did was get IMAP mail (gmail), switch over to the Apple Mail program and iCal and the Cloud. Yet I have a Windows 7 computer and use Outlook on the IMAP account and downloaded iCloud for Windows. In short - I use Mail/Calendar for Mac on the Mac and Outlook on my Windows computer and use the Cloud sync to keep the same information on both computers as well as my iPhone.
It works extremely well once the learning curve is mastered. I do use Word and Excel on the Mac but find Outlook better for Windows and stayed with the Mac Mail program on the Mac. They key is *IMAP* mail and the correct settings so that you can acess the same mail from any program on any platform. The other key is to use iCloud to sync iCloud calendars staying away from google etc. Btw gmail is a great IMAP provider.

Acrobat v6.0.2 crashed & now will not open
I am running (or, was running) Acrobat v6.0.2 Professional on a new Apple Mac Pro (Intel) running OSX 10.6.7. WIthout warning Acrobat crashed and when I attempt to re-open it I get the error message "Acrobat quit unexpectedly". I re-installed Acrobat and have the same problem. Is there a compatibility issue between v6 and the newest OSX? Thanks!
Acrobat 6 was released, according to Wikipedia, in July 2003. It's four versions behind the current version. I'm surprised that it ran at all in Snow Leopard.
I think it's time to upgrade. -
I'm having issues with mail starting up. After it crashed it will not reopen. The time wheel just spins with nothing happening and I have to force quit mail to stop it. What can I do to get mail working again?
Here is a photo of what I see when I tap on the mail icon to open it. It stays there for a second or two and then goes dark. Then I actually have to put my iPad into sleep mode in order to use it again. The app will NOT close no matter what I do, just shutting it down or put it in sleep and then restart it.
here is when I tap the mail icon. It looks like an empty page but you will see the format of the mail page. Next photo is what is see after a second. And the last photo is what I see before the iPad locks up or Les blank. I hope this makes things clearer as to what the problem is. Thanks for your help, hope this helps! Diane May. -
My 06' Macbook Pro crashed with vertical, green pixelated lines and now will not advance past the turn-on screen with the apple filled with green lines as well. Then, it says to hold down the power button to restart. I have tried several times to get it past this point but tnothing helped.
I have an appointment at the Apple store today, but was wondering : will all of the information and files on my desktop be lost? Or is this a logic board problem?
Any help is much MUCH appricated.I'm not sure, if you're out of warrenty it'll cost quite a bit for the replacement of the logic board replacement...unless you have apple care. you could ask apple to try and recover your hard drive but i'm not sure.

my computer upgraded from 3.6 to 5 and crashed and will not now open any pages with firefox. I have tried to reinstall many times with same result. What is the problem? I do not beleive I am alone in this. I had not idea that the upgrade occured on the 15th of June but it opened on the a.m of the 28th and then shut down immediately and will not access my home page or any other page again.
Try going to the Tools menu item, and choose Options.
In the popup, select the Advanced screen (cog icon) and under that, the Update sub-tab. On that tab, uncheck the various boxes for checking for updates, and see if that helps? -
I updated an iPod touch, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4 to iOS 6, and all of them now will not connect to WiFi. They all give this wierd 404 error page from Apple and insist that I need to login to the network. What's the fix? None of the recommended fixes work in any of these devices. Reset device, reset network, renew lease, etc. None of them work.
Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#iPod_touch_late2009
iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318. -
Firefox suddenly crashed and will not open
I am having this problem as well. I believe I have the latest version of FF. It was working fine all day then all of a sudden just crashed and will not open. I first kept getting a window stating"
"Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts"
I submitted the crash report all 3 times it crashed successfully. But now, Firefox will not open at all,not even in safe mode.
I have looked through any suggestions and nothing works. I can't even get the profile manager to open to test it.
I would like to roll back to a previous version, IF that will solve this problem, but it's my bookmarks that I want to save. I don't want to lose them. But how can I import them if I can't even get FF to start?
I did see a folder called bookmark backups or something, but for some reason it isn't showing all of them.
Also, I was in a live chat with someone trying to help but they just left :( I was able to see my crash report via the instructions on this site, but now what? What do I do with it?
Please can someone help me?

Solved!
Go to Solution. That link is for the flasher tool, you'll need that to repair the device..
Here are the steps.. you'll need to follow them pretty accurately:
turn phone off
remove battery
put battery back in
plug USB cable into computer
Press and hold down the 'u' button on the keyboard.. don't let it go
plug USB cable into phone
wait until the Nokia logo appears, a little USB icon should appear in the top right corner of the screen. the backlight MAY NOT turn on at all
release the 'u' button
run the flasher tool: flasher-3.5 --enable-rd-mode
The flasher prog should run for a moment then finish. If it DOES NOT and sits waiting for suitable device, STOP.. this is bad..
Ok, if all that went well, now for the repair bit
unplug the USB from the phone
The phone will power off or reboot
If the phone turned off, turn it on with the power button
let the phone boot up.. it may take some time.. some reports say you might need to enter the date/time again..
If it doesn't boot STOP.. something has gone bad..
Ok, if the phone booted ok, finish off
Turn the phone off with the power button
remove battery
reinsert battery
press and hold the 'u' button
insert USB cable into phone
wait until the Nokia logo appears as before
release the 'u' button
run the flasher tool again: flasher --disable-rd-mode
wait for flasher to finish.. if it sits waiting for suitable device STOP.. something has gone wrong.. it shoudl run for a few seconds then stop.. anything else is bad
Remove USB cable from phone
phone might restart or turn off.. if it turns off, turn it on..
Hopefully you're fixed and up and running..
Let us know how you get on
Anyone else reading this, don't just follow the instructions if you're unsure.. ASK someone first.. This proceedure is subject to change in the future when new firmware is released and tools are updated -
Flash Player 10.2 will not install - not same problem as Audrey below.
Hi,
Using Win 7 home deluxe, was using Flash player no problem until the office had me uninstall it to fix another problem but now will not reinstall, keeps insisting on installing Mc Afee alongside it and then Mc Afee won't install correctly and won't allow Flash Player to install either.
Have repeatedly uninstalled the full Adobe free software suite, and Mc Afee and started from the beginning have tried using the 32 bit IE instead of thr 64 bit, when the window comes up showing the registration it only shows the Quit button will not let me use the Agree or Install button and again and again it keeps installing Mc Afee without being asked, I don't use or need Mc Afee as have Nortons. I have also been turning off the norton antivrus while doing the installation as i know that can interfere with it.
been trying this on and off for some days now, multiple times, and I do need to get this fixed I would appreciate some advice thanks
TYes Friend and I posted a message of thanks also which I'm very pleased to send to you personally, the missing link was that little check box you mentioned, I had done the install or tried to many times but never seen that small box so that was the problem.
Very grateful - thanks very much for your time and patience !!
Best Regards
Tim

My iMovie keeps crashing and will not fully load. What do you think is the problem?
What would be the reason why my iMovie keeps crashing and will not fully load?
I don't know what version of iMovie you are using, nor the Mac OS X version (that's always helpful when posting questions).
However, usually when iMovie has the type of problem you mention, it's advisable to firstly trash the preference file. Here's how to go about it for iMovie '11 on Mountain Lion (similar methods apply for other versions):
Go to your Home folder <your user name>/Library/Preferences (NOT the Library folder at the top level in Macintosh HD). Similar to Lion, on Mountain Lion (10.8.3), the Home Library folder will be hidden (unlike pre-Lion OS X versions). To access it, click and hold down Go in the Finder menu bar, then press and hold down the Option key on the keyboard - the Library folder will appear in the drop down list. Slide the pointer down to Library and, as you release the pointer, the folder will open in Finder. Now you can navigate to the Preferences folder.
In your user Library/Preferences folder, locate a file named "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist". With iMovie closed, drag this file to the Desktop. When next opened, iMovie will create a fresh preference file with the default settings (this happens in the background as iMovie is loading).
If iMovie now opens and appears to be working properly, you can change the default settings in the menu item "IMovie > Preferences", as desired. Also, it's now safe to drag the old preference file to the Trash. Trashing the file will not harm any existing Events or Projects.
Note that these instructions are for iMovie '11 (currently version 9.0.9). For users on earlier versions, the preference file has a different but similar name. For example, for iMovie '09 (that's version 8.0.6) the file is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Earlier versions may or may not have a number in the name, for example, "com.apple.iMovie.plist"
If this doesn't fix the problem with iMovie crashing, please come back as I have another possible solution to offer.
