Flash Builder 4.5 Mobile Login Form needs 2 clicks???

Hi,
I have been working on developing an application for the android market thta firstly requires the users to login to a account. I have put the code together below, along with a data link to a database in order to check the credentials. However the application does not switch to the second view on the first click of the "Login" button however it seems to take 2 or more clicks sometimes. I presume as it is fetching data from a database that it takes time to be verifies, could someeone tell me how to solve this and maybe implement a BusyIndicator along with it?

protected function login_btn_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
var match:Boolean;
getEmployeesByNameResult.token = employeeService.getEmployeesByName(usr_nme_txtbox.text, pass_txtbox.text);
if (getEmployeesByNameResult.lastResult != null)
navigator.pushView(HomeView, getEmployeesByNameResult.lastResult.id);

<s:Button id="login_btn" width="100%" label="Login"
click="login_btn_clickHandler(event)"/>
Thanks

(While original poster might have found the solution or given up, I guess it's a good idea to leave the question answered)
The service is asynchronous. You cannot check right after calling, instead you need to use a handler for reading the result.

hi
try putting the pushView code inside the result handler for employeeService - currently you are checking login details immediately but as you say, you need to wait for the server response (which will trigger the result handler)
the easiest way to handle busy indicator is probably to use states - ie: a 'login' state that shows the login controls and a "busy" state that displays "connecting" or some other indicator for the user. then switch states at the appropriate time

• Running a Flash Builder 4.5 Mobile BlazeDS Application on the Device

I've been developing a Flex Mobile application in a Flash Builder 4.5 mobile project. The project uses a java/blazeds server, which is a spring application using the spring blazeds integration. I created the project with the Root URL property in Flex Server settings set to localhost (http://localhost:8080/myServerApp), and all has worked well. I'm now trying to run the application on a usb connected android device, and am getting a warning that the device can't access my localhost location. I changed localhost in the Root URL property to the ip of my workstation on the local wifi network the device and workstation are connected to (say http://10.0.0.2:8080/myServerApp), and receive the following error stack:

• Flash Builder 4.6 Mobile Project Using Blazeds & Native Extension

Hi,
I'm building a Flex Mobile project in FB, that uses BlazeDS to access data through a Spring Project, and also uses an ANE file to access the device's contacts. I want to debug the application on a device connected with a USB cable, so had to set my root and output folders in Server Settings using UNC so it can be found from my device thru my wifi network. I also have added the native extension via the Build Path and Packaging tabs. When I debug from a desktop emulator, things launch OK and the extension correctly tells me it's not supported on the emulator. However, if I debug on the device, FB throws an exception at launch, complaining of a java null pointer exception. The Eclipse log, in part, looks like this:

I guess the problem is that when the application tries to run on my device, the extension is not finding the application descriptor file. Is there anything else I need to do?
I appreciate any help.
Jay

Here's the fix in case anyone else runs into this problem. When Flash Builder is building the deployment during launch, it converts the mapped path to a mangled local path for the ane to find the descriptor to a relative path, which can't be found and throws the null pointer. Making the Output Folder path actually local to the computer, as opposed to the default that FB creates, resolves the error, and still allows blazeds access from the device.

• Flash Builder 4.6 mobile simulator question

I have Flash Builder 4.6 for Mac, I'm developing a mobile application for iOS. When I test the application, the simulator comes up huge, is there a way
to configure the simulator so that the simulator show itself as being the same dimensions as what the application would be if were actually on an iPhone 4.
Thanks.

Not that I know of within Flash Builder however it is possible to make a web page and manually calculate what the final size would be by dividing screen DPI by the device dpi and scaling the resolution accordingly.
There is a hack to get screen DPI in JavaScript:

var screenDPI = document.getElementById('testdiv').offsetWidth;
NOTE: DPI is mostly standard across browsers and generally you get 96 on Windows and 72 on Mac. However, as the browser is rendering based on this DPI (and not your actual screen DPI) everything matches up.
After you get the final dimensions then you just change the width/height of your Flash div on the web page. There are a lot of documents available on the web on how to resize the Flash content inside a web page if you need help with this.

• Flash builder 4.5 + mobile apps + mx components : error#1014

Hi everyone,
I found about the capabilities of Flex/Air a few weeks ago and I started experimenting. I'm interested in the mobile apps in particular.

• Flash Builder 4.7 downgrade to 4.6 version

Hey,
We have bought a license key for upgrade from Flash Builder 4.0 SE to Flash Builder 4.7 SE, but we need access to Designer View which is not available in FB 4.7.
Our distributor tell us, that it is possible by doing downgrade to Flash Builder 4.6. To do it we should contact with Adobe Support.
So our questions are:
1. How can we downgrade Flash Builder from 4.7 SE to 4.6?
2. Could we change our license key to 4.6 license key?
3. How can we download Flash Builder 4.6 binary files?
Best regards,
Juri

In order for you to downgrade you need to hava an AVL license, and yes it is possible, you just need to call support.
http://www.adobe.com/volume-licensing/policies.html
Check Backward licensing policy
"Adobe allows program members to order a current-version license but use a prior version. These members can contact Adobe Customer Service to request a serial number for the earlier version if they do not already have one. Prior-version software is available via ESD and can be purchased through standard resellers. The program member must follow all guidelines of the current-version EULA.
Note: This policy is applicable under the TLP and Forms Licensing Program (FLP) as well."
Hope it helps!

• Flash Builder Burrito 'unable to resolve ... for transcoding' error css file

Hi,
I am trying to dip my toes into the waters of mobile development with the preview release of flash builder burrito.
I am doing so by trying to port over an application I have built in Flash Builder 4 for the web, by bringing it into a mobile app piece by piece, using the view stack struture peculiar to mobile apps.
I am haivng an issue with my untouched css file that I am trying to use in the app. It's a direct copy from the other app in the same directory structure and yet I have declarations of embedded images of the form:
.topLogo {
url: Embed(source="assets/images/header-logo.png");
Which continually cause:
unable to resolve '/assets/css/assets/images/header-logo.png' for transcoding Flex Style Problem
errors.
It is drving me utterly nuts. The images are there, and if I change the path to an invalid one I get a proper error in the editor, so it IS resolving them, but then these transcoding errors come up and seem to be triggering repeatedly as the problems pane keeps taking the focus away from the editor.
It's driving me nuts.
Anyone know if I've missed something?

Problem solved by turning off Design View (which we never use anyway, useless thing for OO style programming), it's on by default with a new install of Flash builder.
The mobile app looks promising, just waiting on a developer license to see how it goes on an iPad

• Installing AIR3 SDK in Flash Builder 4.5.1 ?????

Hi All,
Can anyone help me, with installing AIR3 SDK - Flash Builder 4.5.1, logically, I need to overally the sdk, the way, we use to do with previous version of AIR SDK.
But no luck
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi Ravi,
just installed AIR3 SDK at work. I try to recap the steps I did:
1. Locate the "old" SDKs
They are located in the Flash Builder directory, in my case this was c:\program files(x86)\adobe\flash builder 4.5\sdks
2. Make a copy of the previous SDK
Copy a previous SDK (I used SDK 4.5.1 for that) and rename the copied folder to AIR3SDK (or a different name if you like)
3. Overwrite the copied (!) SDK with the AIR3 SDK
Copy all files from the AIR3 SDK into the copied folder. It should ask you to overwrite files quite a couple of times. After this, you should have a working AIR3 SDK installed.
4. Set a name for the new SDK
I had to to this with the Beta2 - go to the new SDK directory and edit flex-sdk-description.xml - change the
content from Flex 4.5.1 to AIR3 SDK.
6. Add the new playerglobal.swc from Flash Player 11
Download the current Flash Player 11 "playerglobal.swc" from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11.html and put it into the correct folder. From the SDKs root folder this was: <sdkroot>/frameworks/libs/player/11.0/ (I had to create the 11.0 folder myself and then just put the file in there and rename it to plain "playerglobal.swc")
7. Add the AIR3 SDK to Flash Builder
Under "Project Settings - Flex Compiler" for a project, choose the new SDK as SDK to use for the project. If the SDK does not show up, go to "configure Flex SDKs", then "Add" and select the newly created folder. The new AIR3 SDK should now be included in the dropdown list as a compiler for that project.
Don't forget to add -swf-version=13 as a compiler flag on the same screen.
After doing all this, I was able to use the new features, compile my projects and well, work with it
Edit: I almost forgot - you also have to set the namespace in your -app.xml to 3.0 like this:
<application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/3.0">
Best regards,

• Where is the "done" button in Flash CS4 when using Flash Builder 4's new flash component or container?

The documentation for Flash Builder 4 beta says that after opening flash from flash builder, I should click a "done" button in flash and flash should close and what I created in flash should be included as a component or container in Flash Builder. Using the Flash Builder 4 beta on Windows, when I click on the "create in flash" button on the properties panel for either the new flash component or container, Flash CS4 opens, I create something in Flash and no "done" button is present. Nor is anything present in the menus resembling a "done" option. Where is it?

Hi Jeffrey:
Still no done button. Now under commands in Flash I can convert symbols to flex components and containers and these show up in the Flash library.
Thanks:
Jim

Hi,
You may need to install FlexComponentKit.mxp to your Flash CS4 beforehand.

Subject: Flex Where is the "done" button in Flash CS4 when using Flash Builder 4's new flash component or container?
I apparently didn't get one. I've looked under various workspace configurations. Another thing that seems odd is that when Flash opens I get the opening panel that allows me to select the type of file and version of AS I want to use. I select new file with AS3. Any ideas on why the "done" button wouldn't be present and if the opening panel is what I should expect on opening Flash after clicking the "create in Flash" button?
